Its been bugging me for awhile. All i have is a solid kindle fire picture. It no longer glows. It is rooted and installed persano's tweaks if that has anything to do with it. Any way to fix it?

if you dont want boot animation, a faster boot, battery saving, and speed (no more lag, and more free ram), use my tweaks. it isnt a bug, is a tweak to boot faster, for me and some developers, that animation is stupid, but if you want it, go to build.prop and delete this line
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
this line make a faster boot (like some people like), if you remove it, your tablet will boot a bit more slower but you will have your animation
thanks persano. and the reason i want the boot animation is to use a custom one

Here is a custom boot animation I put together of the Galaxy S boot up screen without the verizon logo/bootup. Load it on your phone and tell me what you think.
So basically you just removed the VZW portion of the boot animation. Wouldnt deleting that file sorta do the same thing.
Try it and see, Verizon stuff is deleted and galaxy S looped a couple of times.
Yea I opened and played it on my pc. But like I said, same boot animation but without the VZW crap. Nice job though.
Just curious, how do you play it on a computer?
For me, I just open the part0 file, ctrl a, right click and select open. Windows pic viewer will open them all in order and it looks like it does on the phone, with a bit more lag of course.

A lot of ROMs remove the bootup sound because a lot of us find it annoying. You can use any sound you want, as long as you can make it a wav file. Name it PowerOn.wav and place it the /system/etc folder

Thanks for the help.

For some reason custom Bootanimations are not working in Stupidfast 1.95. Seeing the Verizon logo on bootup made me throw up a little in my month.
Martian21
There is a stupid fast 1.96 in rom manager right now. Before I went oc voodoo again it was supporting custom boot anims.
SCH-I500 - DJ05/SuperClean .7/Nemesis OTB 1200lv/Voodoo5/Darkstar
None of the stupid fast kernels have for me. I am using 1.97 currenty. I see the samsung logo then the screen goes black but ?I still here the boot tone.
Have you actually installed a custom boot animation? Those kernels merely add support for custom animations; they don't come with one.
Many ROMs, on the other hand, do come with custom boot animations, and you can also find boot animations to manually install in various places online and in ROM Manager.
Oh, and FYI, StupidFast 1.97 is the latest version and is available both in ROM Manager and at http://totalnerdity.com/sf/.
Oh im sorry, I was mistaken. I thought that stupid fast came with a custom boot animation. Thanks for clearing that up .
*UPDATE 2/2/11* Added flashable shutdown animation. See bottom of OP.
Credit to Gla'DOS for original animation.
Requirements:
- Any ROM with a kernel that supports custom boot animations (Bonsai4All, ViperROM, etc)
- Ability to boot into ClockWorkMod Recovery (any version) and flash a .zip file
What is it?
- I modified the original animation, removed the light flare, and added loading status indicators under the animation.
- Increased playback length with repeating loading status indicators.
PREVIEW
Instructions:
- Download .zip to SD Card
- Flash in CWM (all versions of CWM supported)

love this!! .. would it be possible to get a shutdown animation too? cause there's one here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10926995&postcount=4 but it's not compatible with cwm3, nor does it have your customizations which I love.
Thanks

Thanks for reminding me! I had originally intended to do just that, but completely spaced it. I've attached it here and updated the OP. Certain kernel limitations forced me to shorten the sequence.

shutdown works perfect! love it!! thanks!!!
why am I dumb?
I can't ever get any of these to work...I install custom ROM's and widget mod's through CWM3 all the time, and boot ani's just never seem to work. I'm running Viper ROM now. I've downloaded the .zip, boot into recovery, choose install .zip, go to the file, install it....system says, it was installed properly, reboot..same boot screen as before.
what am I missing?
UPDATE: The shutdown loaded correctly, and it's awesome....still having issues with the bootup though. harumph.
This worked, but then I started getting a bunch of FC's. Then I ran ROM Manager permissions fix and it got rid of most of the FC's except for google framework which is very important. I have no idea how this could have caused these issues. But after restoring my nandroid backup (Thank God I backed up!) everything was back to normal.

When you three-finger-boot into ClockworkMod recovery there's a backup/restore and it's called nandroid backup. It works very well backing up everything on your phone system/data/settings, everything.
The custom ROM I have came with the ROM Manager apk (which is run on the phone). It has an option to fix permissions which corrects the file permissions of all of your apps and data for root access in case permissions get corrupted. Sometimes when you install a new mod/zip the file permissions either get corrupted or are not given (I'm no dev, so I don't know the specifics). If you get a lot of ForceCloses this will fix them in most cases.
I don't know exactly what happened, but I'm 99% sure it was from installing this shutdown animation and after restoring (again through CWM3) it works fine now.
Hope that helped.
I booted into CWM right after posting that and found the fix permissions option you were talking about. I had already been performing the nandroid backups, but didn't know they were called that. Thanks for the quick response!
I'm still not able to get the boot animation to work though. The power down worked, and it's pretty cool....anybody got any ideas?
Good looking out bro, This animation always stayed in my Moment as a back up cause I liked it so much.
maybe this...?

That's the same kernel I'm on. Should work just fine, perhaps there is some conflict with the new ViperROM? Haven't tested it on that ROM since I first released this. I know they have lots of modifications, even to the kernel I believe.

You need to have a kernel that supports boot animation chnges. Mammon was the one who did this for 2.1, I believe he was the one who did it for 2.2 as. Well.

hey quick question. i am running the same rom as you (SyndicateROM Frozen 1.0.2)and when i flashed this i hae random things fc on me as soon as i get into the phone. like mms and email. any ideas ?
I've noticed my phone takes for ever to boot up and on three occasions the phone never boot past what I guess would be the boot animation screen where the color dots move around. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this issue and maybe knows what is causing this and a fix if there is one?
The phone's boot loader is unlocked and stock rooted with Xposed framework.
Thanks.

Tried a substratum boot animation from the domination app. But nothing happened as far as I saw. Same lg image followed by Verizon animation. Hadn't used a oms substratum boot image so I could have done something wrong. But I was pretty sure it was select and ..reboot lol.

Also its possibile to delete bootloading on/off animation ZIP file from media folder to get a stock android animation ( i do it on any roms also on stock LG rom)
Well for Bootanimations all you have to do is scour XDA for Bootanimations with the same display size in mind and manually replace them with a Root/File Manager.

@runningnak3d has answered this before, and I always mess up repeating what he said -- but it's basically you can brick your phone if you don't know exactly what/where you are replacing. On North America V30, people have gotten rid of the annoying unlocked bootloader animation (which is really just a "picture" -- so it's a boot logo) by REPLACING the entire partition with Verizon VS996 "Resources" and Resources_bak" -- which gives you a few seconds of black. But to actually flash a NEW boot logo (something of your own choice) is entirely different and harder.
And @runningnak3d can clarify/correct anything I just said.
Ah, found it:

If you want to figure out the format of the raw_resources partition, that is where all the images are stored. It is possible to change them, but if you mess up, then your phone is a brick since abl will not load -- which is why the risk just wasn't worth it for me.
They are RLE so they have no header. There is an index that gives the name and offset for the location of the image, but not the size (either they are all the same size, or the size is stored somewhere else).

On the VS996 flash zip I no longer have the bootloader warning splash but I do still have the v30 boot logo instead of the v30+. Kinda like to have the v30+ one from the US998U/LS998.
As far as the animations go the Verizon has a boot animation (2part) bootanimation_decrypting (2part) and shutdown animation all in the system/bin/media folder.
Just recently updated the G7 on the Verizon OTA 10f and now it uses the same decrypting animation at boot.
I'll check out that link, I don't have a burning desire for the boot logo but I backed up my boot animation and may do it the old fashioned adb way in recovery. If it goes well I may change the shutdown animation as well.

Wait so does this risk just pertain to the unlocked bootloader warning or for the power on and off animations as well? Cause before on my V20 all I had to do was basically replace the boot animation and shut down animation zips or rename them to .bak so they don't load at all. So as long as I don't mess with the one labeled decrypting then there shouldn't be a risk right?

I presume it pertains to attempting to edit the boot logo (boot splash image) as it is not just a static image file in the system subdirectories.

I first tried that app on my LG V20 stock ROM. I then deleted boot animation zip and shut down boot animation zip.
My LG V20 was fine.
I then installed it on my LG V30 since I was comfortable at this point. It works fine. I backed up the Zips. Deleted the boot animation zips from root - system - media. Stock boot animation is very very plain.
So I used that app I linked. There is no shut down boot animation zip. Which semi sucks. I deleted it since I HATE the T-Mobile Logo.

I downloaded it and looked at the zip it created. It sets the right permissions and placed the animation in the right location. Easy enough to take that zip and swap in a shutdown animation file and rename the permission setting line in the updater script to make one for shutdown animation. I was sitting here over breakfast thinking about swapping the two out on my device. Just for all that work I may as well just use the terminal in twrp and make the chmod changes myself.
And that bhootie site......sheeeeesh that's a lot of porn, and it's shutting down soon as well. I have no idea why ?

FYI, you don't need to set permissions if using

Just copy over the files and it will auto set permissions for you. No need to reboot in less you want to see how it looks of course.

Can't find Bhootie in the play store
One of the interesting things I found is that this phone boots so quickly. I ramped up the frame rate on my phone to decrease the start time. The Verizon boot animation is looong.
I was going to change the shutdown animation too to a different LG but I realized I was just trying to be different (modding addiction) and when I'm shutting the phone (which is never) I don't pay it any attention.
