When the HTC One was announced it was rightfully lauded for its aluminium unibody design. However, whilst checking out pictures of the handset rear, we were reminded of another handset we know well – the Xperia P. The Xperia P was arguably the sexiest handset launched by Sony in 2012. The aluminium-clad beauty sat in between the Xperia S and Xperia U in terms of specs and hence was a great all-rounder with a premium feel.
We have put both handsets side-by-side below and there appears to be more than just a close resemblance between handsets. Both feature a tapered design and sectioned in a very familiar fashion. The main difference between the two (apart from the transparent bar of the Xperia P) is the LED flash placement and a boxier design for the Xperia P versus the rounded corners of the HTC One. Could HTC have used the Xperia P as inspiration for the rear design of the HTC One? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Yes, I'll let you know: No. Major player takes a last-year medium to low spec'd device of a less important company as an inspiration for the next generation neck breaking flagship? HTC's design as well as marketing division surely must be better than that. Even worse, this thread got nothing to do with the Xperia T. Let me guess, if I search for "Threads started by this user" I'll find the exact same thread in every other Sony-related subforum I guess. He/She's better than I thought.
Anyway,I feel somewhat offended by the fact that you didn't even rework your text to work on a forum but lazily made copy&pasta from a blog entry. Lame. And lazy. The second time I have to ask Darth Vader to come to my assistance this week:

The HTC One is really lagging in innovation.
its good..because sony make good and some of the others "player" copy them and make good products..with Sony design and screen ) ..
Good sony.
Because it's absolutely logical to post about the Xperia P, HTC and iPhone in an Xperia T forum...

htc may have based its designs on other models, but it doesn't mean they've copied from other phone manufacturers. even if the htc one doesn't appeal to you, i find it pointless to:
(1) inform others about what you feel about it by
(2) copying wholesale from another blog
by doing so, you're doing exactly what you are (correct me if i'm wrong) accusing htc of doing: BEING COMPLETELY UNORIGINAL.

Guys!
What will be the successor to this bit of kit most of us have had knocking around for about a year or so now? I'm looking for something similar - ie 'proper' keyboard, good screen, 3g, satnav, cam, and whatever is new and sexy!
I am struggling to think that there i will be a better form factor - but ya never know!
i am a little outta touch with the tech - as i only follow the game when i am really n the market to buy...
so i welcome any good info!
be kool,

HTC Touch Pro, AKA Raphael.
Check the Raph forum and/or wiki on this site or http://coolsmartphone.com.
Or wait and see if HTC bring out a Touch HD (aka Blackstone) with a keyboard

thx Dave, I'll checkout the info...
I wonder if it is time to look at Nokia's kit? does it rival HTC stuff?

One of two in my opinion:
HTC HD as mentioned above, or Sony-Ericsson Xperia X1. Both have hardware keyboards and WVGA screens. Samsung Omnia is pretty good bang for your buck too, pity it doesn't have a hw keyboard. Nokia's new N96 is interesting, but I would never move away from WinMob, besides, where would you find support like here at XDA?
you speak truth mackjam ;-)
I am in for winmob all the way - sighing and all!!!
cheers
The HTC Touch HD does not have any hardware keyboard though...

My apologies, it doesn't have a hardware keyboard. I was thinking of the Google phone, which is also an HTC device.
Jitterbug?
my only real problems with my kaiser is viability in sunlight my boss laughs at me when he sees me running for shade so i can see whats on my screen, and the material the phone is made out of imo they should have made the entire phone out of the scratch resistant material the back is made out of.
If they were able to make a phone that fixes both of those problems I'd be happy to replace my kaiser with it.

A proper successor maintains or improves:
o the tri-band UMTS (Raphael does not, iirc)
o the keyboard (Touch HD does not)
o has the HTC P4xxx numbering scheme
Anything else?

I thought "Rachael" was going to be X5, since SE was going to skip the X3 and X4 due to cultural connotations?

according to leaked info, rachael will be the x3, probably kiki will be the x4. so x5 is free but as the x2/3/4 are not released yet i dont think they will be making a x5 at the mo or in the near future.

Dude these concepts always look the same. Why do these concepts often have "flat" buttons. Why do they appear to be paper thin?
----------------------------------------------------------
lol i agree most of em look the same, but i do believe future phones will be in a form of whats in the pic, remember the futuristic vehicles which were just concepts a few years ago? 2009 those vehicles are real, just imagine what the phones will look like in 2015, who thought that we would have gps, cameras and be able to watch movies on our mobiles lol, i welcome those flat buttons anytime, once the keyboard is decent... razr had it, but what blown the razr away was the fact that all motorola sold was a thin phone with no functionality, now they wanna play catchup with the razr v8 and v9, too late now...
once the designers and makers get it right, i bet flat buttons can be just as great as raised buttons
its a nice concept, i bet if this was revealed by SE the entire universe would be drooling on their keyboards over this, but hey, its only a concept
haha~flat?thin? Because some one just fabricated it by "photo shop" ,not by CAD,
remember the razr flat and thin style was the wow back then, when every phone was a 'brick'... now what? the iphone is thin, i wont be surprised if apple doesn't release an iphone with a flat keyboard either...look at the kiki, u can bet those buttons are gonna be kinda touch surface of some kinda new innov...
if it can be a thought, it was either done or it can be done

Why so? This is a forum relating to development and discussion of mobile devices, more or less, don't see why the Playbook shouldn't have a section.

Why has the iPhone got its own site?
Different company.
Remember, before Samsung, ZTE, Asus, etc got on this forum, it was all HTC.
They added other phones cos the OS was shared. Then HTC released Android and WP7 phones.
If HTC released a BlackBerry or iPhone, it'd be here for dev work, so then Apple and RIM would get on XDA.
Probably not Apple since they now have iPD.
If we have WP7 here, a Playbook forum would hurt no one.

WP7 does fit in. XDA was started for HTC Windows Mobile devices. They then extended it to Android devices, and devices made by other companies (GASP!). Then they added WP7 devices. If anything, Android is the odd one out, being as how it isn't made by M$.

That is an interesting idea actually. We all know Apple's design ideas are pretty good, and some android phones you don't want to take out of your pocket. But on the other hand, Android is a great system, and iOS...not so much. So you can have 2 different phones from that. One sexy phone with awesome OS, or an Ugly one with crap OS. I present to you, this phone:

Hark at him, with his fancy new 80s cube puzzle avatar!
I think jaszek has the right idea, I mean its not as though apple even make their phones or components, so all it would take is a logo swap at foxconn and a optimised version of android and BAM. of course the ifanboys would then complain about the poor build quality as it no longer has a partially eaten fruit logo on the back.
In the real world.. If you're just looking for an android that is aesthetically pleasing.. Motorola seem to be doing a good job on that front. My Atrix looks smart, and the new razr is all fancy!
just buy a samsung, it looks like the iphone and it runs android
I'll only put it this way- iOS' power management, maybe battery itself, everything else android / non-Applicular origin. Lets face it, right now, our beloved toys only lack that functional amount of battery life to be, well, functional and reliable.

Hey all,
I've an old Nokia 5130 express music phone, almost new condition.
But it went faulty due to simultaneous failure of some 2 or 3 ICs. The cost involved was too much, so it's kept unused since a long time.
Any ideas how out can be put to use, any ideas are welcome for example- Converting it into a webcam(is possible, with links)
Or
Screen used for some display of pics.
Please link to procedure too, if possible.
