My kindle fire hd is running golauncher ex as the home, and i use "My Kindle Wallpaper"(app) to change the wallpaper.
The wallpaper continuously crashes...
Is there a better background app?
Is there a way to stop the crashes?
Also, can I change my lock screen? (side ques.)
Your two separate posts should be in the QandA section.
If you copy Gallerygoogle.apk into you system/apps folder and set permissions for rw- r-- r-- and restart the kindle without installing the app. After booting you should be able to open the Gallery app and find the image you want and set and crop it for the background as you normally would.
You can change you lockscreen, there is a thread about it here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101564 Though they are
There is no app just to change the lockscreen wallpaper.

This works.

As for the lock screen, are you rooted?
If yes then go here.

After that's set up, go to play store and search for lockers. I use widget locker.
Good Luck.
I've installed the kindle wallpaper changer suggested above. When I select single image it ask if I want to crop the picture. Which I do cause it's zooming the picture. But when I select it ..a error msg says unable to find crop program. Any suggestions plz?

How do you set live wallpaper on the Nook Color? I've rooted my Nook (firmware 1.1) using AutoNooter 3.0 according to the instructions at nookdevs.com/NookColor_Rooting. Market installs are enabled, and I can download them. But If I hold on the home screen and select Change wallpaper, I only see tabs for Wallpaper and Photo Gallery - no live wallpaper. If I have soft keys on, menu doesn't do anything when I'm on the home screen.
Live Wallpaper IS working on my Nook - I installed Polar Clock Live Wallpaper from the market, and if I go to Market -> Downloads -> Polar Clock Live Wallpaper -> Open, it gives the usual instructions to home -> menu -> wallpaper -> live wallpapers. But there's also a button that says "take me there", and if I press that, it takes me to a screen listing all the live wallpapers I've downloaded, and I can set them from there.
Is there a more direct way to set them?
http://nookdevs.com/NookColor_Enable_Live_Wallpapers
Edit: Forgot to mention you probably just need to install the LiveWallpapersPicker.apk.
I tried that, but I still don't see any way to choose them. I even put LiveWallpapersPicker.apk on a web site, and installed it through the browser. It warned me that it was already installed - I let it install anyway, but I still don't see an option if I choose set wallpaper from the home screen. Should it be another tab? Is there a way to launch LiveWallapersPicker directly? I don't see it in extras.
Do you have a homescreen replacement app? I use ADW Launcher and in the settings I have the option of choosing a live wallpaper.
I played around with it, but found that it was screwing up the Nook's functionality too much. When I had a live wallpaper installed I could not search the Android market nor launch a video from the Weather Channel app. I might look into it further at some point, but for now, static wallpapers will do for me.
I'll second that 3rd party launcher idea. I don't know if that's what you want to do or not, but I use Zeam and my wife has the stock launcher and I can do it straight away on mine and can't figure it out on hers. The BN launcher is a bit limited, it seems.
Hi..
Anyone know how to change the background wallpaper on Nova or any launcher for that matter. Any time I attempt to do it through external apps or a gallery app it fails.
+1....I have this question also. So far the only way I can get a new background is to use a 3rd party app.

Here's what I have found to change the wallpaper (for ADW Launcher EX) but I believe it should work for any launcher:
You need to have ES File Explorer, and Wallpaper Changer (both are free and available in Google Play)
Launch ES File Explorer
navigate to folder containing wallpaper
(image thumbnails are displayed) tap on an image
("Complete action using:" dialog should appear) tap on "ES Image Browser"
(image is displayed) tap on the handle to display softkeys
tap on "menu" button
tap on "Set Wallpaper"
I'm using kindle wallpaper change from the play store.

I tried that and did not work.... help??? thanks!
Download "Gallery ISC" from playstore.
Return on your launcher
Long press
Wallpaper
And choice Gallerie ICS for beatiful and full screen wallpaper
For live wallpaper :
Download LiveWallpapersPicker
Paste the apk in "/system/app/"
Wait 30s, return to your launcher
Long press
Wallpaper
And choice Live Wallpaper
LiveWallpaperPickers does not work
Live Wallpaper does not have a selection to choose a live wallpaper. Is there a certain version that will allow that?

Hello,
Has anyone experienced a problem trying to set a wallpaper in portrait orientation from QuickPic? In my case, if I browse the gallery in QuickPic, find the picture and try to use the HTC Gallery (Sense 5.5, Android Revolution HD 53), it simply doesn't open. If I try to use QuickPic itself, it only allows me to crop using a fixed landscape cropper.
Please give me some ideas how to get rid of this annoyance.
Thanks!

Yeah. I get the same thing. Unfortunately I think it's an issue with QuickPic. I think its default is to assume that the homescreen is to use scrollable wallpaper, so when you swiped through your different homescreens the wallpaper would shift along with it. That's how it was on my previous phone (HTC Inspire). And it's not actually setting it to landscape by rotating the dimensions. It's setting the width at 2x the screen size. The screen dimension of my Inspire was 480x800. If I wanted to use scrollable wallpaper, I would choose an image 960x800.
Since the m7 doesn't use scrollable wallpaper in the stock launcher (and I don't think there's an option to turn that on, but I could be wrong), QuickPic kinda screws that up. So it's better to use the stock Gallery app to set wallpaper. It will set the correct aspect ratio with the crop tool. Open the Gallery app, find the pic you want to use then set as Wallpaper (not QuickPic Wallpaper). Or you can go into System Settings>Personalize>Wallpaper, Select Wallpaper from Gallery.
On a related note, some 3rd party launchers allow you to set the wallpaper to be a single screen or scrollable. I use Go Launcher and if I have it set to single screen, I can use QuickPic to set the wallpaper and it sets the crop tool with the proper portrait aspect ratio.
Thanks, sharksfan7! I figured it might be something of the sort. I'll send a note to the QuickPic developer, maybe he/she will be able to sort this in a future update.

However, that brings me to my second question: the stock Gallery app does not open if I browse to the pic in QuickPic and try to set it as a "Wallpaper". Any idea what might be causing this? Anyone?

Noticed that as well. Again, probably a QuickPic issue. If you have Google+ installed you'll probably see a "Wallpaper" option using Google Pictures in that Set As list as well. If I select that, the whole thing just crashes.
If you go directly into the Gallery when you want to set wallpaper it works as it's supposed to.

Strangely after reading this, I went to QuickPic to have another go at setting a wallpaper and the 'crop box' was in portrait mode! Either coincidental or random update or I just chose the right picture!!
I have a kindle fire 5th gen. After going through the steps to install Google Play, the icons won't show up. I can see it under settings > all applications, but the only way I can open it is to go through ES Explorer. Is there a way to fix this?

Do you have a custom launcher like Nova? If so check the app drawer. Default is set to not place icons on the home screen. Check Google Play settings for the same option (both should be set to stop the icons from appearing at home).

The icon ended up appearing after I opened it with es explorer. Thanks for your advice, though.
So, my Kindle Fire HD 7 is not rooted, but I've sideloaded Google Playstore and used the Launcher Hijack program to have Apex Launcher as the default launcher. But now I can't put widgets on the desktop. Everytime I try, it sends me to the tablet's settings screen. What setting needs to be changed to use widgets?
