[Q] Wifi issue with CM 10.1 and Kindle Fire - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed CyanogenMod 10.1 on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128201), but the wifi doesn't seem to work. It doesn't even detect the wifi networks and thus cannot register and or download. The jem version that I installed is cm-10.1-20130225-UNOFFICIAL-jem.zip
Can someone help?

Further issues
The tablet recognise that the USB is connected to the PC, but the latter no longer recognize the device. The ADB is checked appropriately on the table, but adb devices doesn't return anything.

IMPOSSIBLE to install Android on my Kindle and TWRP

I'm finding it somewhat impossible to install a custom ROM on this currently useless device.
It is a Kindle Fire HD 7" (not the new HDX)

I tried this to downgrade it to 7.2.1 but once completed the tablet said it cant boot and has to do a restore, then it goes back to 7.30. There is a 7.2.3 option too but I never tried it.
I don't know what to do all I want is to get rid of this stupid crap rom but if I can't I'll just have to use a launcher... any ideas?
The first method works... You just have to put the ROM and corresponding gapps onto your sdcard before hand or it will be stuck boot looping into twrp. If it doesn't automatically go into twrp but you still have the blue logo, just hold power up when you power the kindle on while the logo is orange and usually by the time it turns blue you can let go and it will go into twrp.

The first method doesn't work man. The blue logo never comes up just boot loops the kindle fire logo. I download FireFlash and move the freedom img and twrp onto my kindle sd and plug it right into fireflash and reboot, then it just boot loops.
Alright I found out and installed CM10.2 but my computer does not recognize it anymore, it says MTP USB DEVICE but does not appear in My Computer.

Yea, the method works as you can see. Try removing the old driver and let windows find the new one.

Yeah the old driver was Kindle. So I uninstalled it and now it comes up as MTP USB DEVICE after I select Media Device from USB computer connections on the tablet. Still not recognized in my computer... sigh. I want it to appear as a Mass storage device so I can transfer files. On Linux I get Unable to open MTP device '[usb:001,001]' when trying to open it.d
Now when I boot into TWRP, device manager shows Kindle Fire -> Android Composite ADB Interface but still doesnt appear in My Computer.
Android composite isn't meant for browsing, its meant for using adb commands. If you uninstalled the MTP device on windows and let it search for a new driver when u refresh devices, it should be viewable, also what distro and version of Linux are you on, because some handle mtp better than others.

unknown device Kindle Fire HD not drivers

Hi all. I have a Kindle Fire HD with Demonstration firmware, just bought with broken touch to repair. But tablet do not recognized by the windows, also tried with mac os. This is not the problem of the drivers, because the ID of the device also UNKNOWN. I think something wrong with the USB in tablet. Is it possible to restore Kindle by another method? I tried factory cable also, Kindle goes into fastboot but device still not recognized and shows as Unknown.
After playing with Kindle fire hd, I could to put it in SAFE MODE. In this mode tablet do not recognized by the Windows at all. As I see in this DEmonstration firmware something wrong with communication in USB. Is there any method to flash the tablet not by USB. Please help. Maybe in the terminal, as I saw on the motherboard points RX TX?
If you can get in fast boot there may be a chance... Is this the 7in? Possibly try SRT tool
Yes 7", I can go into fastboot by factory cable, but computer do not see the tablet correctly. It says unknown device with ven_0000&dev_0000.
What the OS to use, linux I think?
As I see, almost all utilities for Windows, but in Windows my KIndle as UNKNOWN DEVICE. And it is impossible to use any of them. Please answer, is anyone here who can explain how to recover this tablet in terminal mode or maybe in another way.
I would recommend using Linux

Kindle won't connect to any PCs after root

Spent the past two nights searching this site and others for a fix to this problem but have made no progress so I decided I would start a thread.
I rooted my new Kindle Fire 7 (5th gen) using FlashFire with CM 12 and it went smoothly, but then I discovered that the Kindle was not being recognized via USB anymore on any of my PCs. When I connected the USB cable to the computers, the Kindle would charge but Windows (I've tried 7, 8 and 10) wouldn't make the typical device connected sound nor would it attempt to install drivers or display any new devices within device manager. USB debugging was enabled and under storage options I tried both MTP and PTP. I also tried using at least three different USB cables, including the stock Kindle cable.
I decided to wipe and reinstall CM 12 but the problem remained, so I wiped once again and installed Nexus ROM. Still the problem persists. For the life of me I have not been able to find a solution anywhere online. I'm sure the USB port isn't damaged since I was able to successfully connect it to a PC when it was running the stock Amazon firmware, and that was only a few days ago.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
