can anybody please xplain me....
what are the benefits of rooting my GTN-7000..
waiting for the replies....
thanx in advance.......
You can do all the stuffs which you cant do on unroot.like mods(call recording, power and volume key press click photo) can change user interface.increase speed of your processor.increase your ram.and much more.root means that your phone is in totally in your hand.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
You can remove the unnecessary bloatware by which your ram usage decreases, you can flash custom roms of your choice, particularly in our note we have a bug(emmc), you can get rid of it by flashing custom kernals which are safe, you can overclock or underclock your processor, you can avoid all kinds of adds by installing an app like adfree
I installed beats audio drivers which is possible only because of root
Now i have transparent accuweather widget
U can use custom boot animations.
Hit thanks if i helped

Since you are new, I would suggest you to read this (credit goes to dr. Ketan).
Read carefully dr. Ketan thread (the link I gave you), once you are understand and confident, then you can proceed.
He mentioned everything there... All the methods of rooting, and all the files needed for rooting.
Good Luck!

and If you are on the latest ICS, you may flash Philz Kernel direct from stock recovery.
You will get root with SuperSU installed + CWM Recovery v6 direct + don't forget it's a safe kernel to do wipe data (eMMC brick bug removed).
Philz Kernel is a modded stock ROM with those 3 benefits, all credits go to him for his great work.
The easiest way to root your device.
BUT....
Find the suitable firmware you are on now at your device. Don't flash the wrong kernel.
Good Luck again!

I haven't seen anybody mention this, so ignore me if this is common knowledge. I was on my stock 4.2 rooted ROM with CWM recovery and I got the 4.2.1 system update. Attempted it with CWM... And it worked. But not only did it work, after I choose reboot phone, CWM warned me that the ROM I just installed might try to flash stock recovery, and asked if I'd like to fix it. It then warned that I might lose root, again asking if I'd like to fix it. So now I'm on 4.2.1. Through system update. Kept CWM and root. Awesome!

Hello Everybody,
I am new here to 'Galaxy Note N7000 ' forum. I recently bought this phablet and I want to root it without bricking.
I have posted a screenshot here which shows details of my note.
After searching I have downloded this file.
"PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-4.90.8-signed.zip"
Is it ok if I flash this file using 'stock recovery 3e' ???
My note will be rooted after flashing this zip file??
Please Help...
Thanks in advance...

Yes.. Look for a newer version of DDLSC kernel. If you can't find, the one you have will also do the job.

I have never faced any bootloops flashing Philz kernel.. ever. just make sure you flash a DDLSC kernel only. What i meant was check if a newer version of DDLSC is available or not as what you mentioned is old.
Once the kernel is installed, the phone will be rooted with CWM recovery.

So far I've had no luck in rooting the Cam2, I'm missing xPosed and Gravity Box. There are some minor hardware differences between the two cameras and the Cam2 is on JB 4.3. Failing root on the Cam2, one might be able to pull the apk from rom.
Oh yeah we would still need the newer bootloader. It's annoying that Samsung have just forgot about us.

It hasn't been rooted yet. Most of the root methods don't work on the Galaxy Camera 2. I'm going to make a request of Chainfire to see if cf-autoroot is possible, assuming I extracted the recovery.img correctly.
I've been able to pull some of the camera app files from my Cam2, not sure I've got all of them. The manifest does have some permissions that don't exist on the original camera.
Has anyone seen a download for the surround shot addon for the gs5? It's available on Samsung apps and for 4.2+ but only for the gs5:crying:

Thanks, just got it today. Its a nice camera!
It's a really good camera. I wanted to get the original Galaxy Camera about a year ago, but for a few reasons didn't. I really don't understand why they didn't include(or offer as an add-on) the surround shot, I have it on my Note3 and I've had that for almost 6 months.
So how is the new root working for you? Were you on the most current fw when you rooted?
Also, do you know of the camera is Knox?
Did you lose data after rooting?

Root is working well. I've got GravityBox(JB), XHaloWindow, and XQuickSettingsToggle loaded via Xposed. I probably won't load any others since there's no way to disable xposed if it goes into a boot loop since I don't have custom recovery.
The camera had the latest firmware(NC2, per SamMobile) and while I was asked to disable a Knox program after I rooted, it does NOT have a root switch on the download screen as my Note3 does.
All data was preserved in rooting, though backup early and often(like voting in Chicago).
Here's the link that I first posted in the other thread:
http://download.chainfire.eu/414/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-sf2wifi-sf2wifixx-ekgc200.zip
I see 4 others have also taken the plunge.
