Internal storage question - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have flashed and installed ultimate Rom with abyss kernel. It is working great but one thing I notice is that it only allocates 2 gigs of internal storage to app installment. My note 2 allocates all of the internal 16 gigs to application installation. I constantly run into limited storage problems with my nt-7000. Is there a way to reformat the internal hard drive so that it uses the entire internal storage like my note 2. Thanks for any help.

There are ways to swap both the memories (2GB & 11GB), this or this
Easy method would be to use the app Apps2SD

Question Internal Memory

8 gig of internal memory, is that onboard memory with a sd card spot to put more on, or is that on an sd card of 8gig that you replace with something higher?
Its internal onboard memory, with an extra microsd slot to add more external memory, up to 32gb extra
Some of the internal memory is allocated for application storage around 1.4gb, some are allocated for system - the rest approx 5.5gb is allocated for file and media storage (music, video, picture etc.)
awesome, thank you!

Yes. It is true.
But i get confuse.
1.4gb+5.5gb=6.9gb
Meaning system use nearly 1.1gb..its huge size memory use by system???

I have a question aswell
Is it safe to delete all the content on the Internal SD card?
I know some apps and stuff will stop working that I have installed, but is there any system files etc on there?
I havn't rooted + Romed yet so it's all stock

Possible, the stock ROM from LG has about 650MB packed, iOS is nearly same size AFAIK. I think unpacked it could be about 1Gig.

If you go to SD card & phone storage settings under settings, you can format it after you've unmounted the internal SD card - but you get around 5.51 GB max (that's after formatting) if you don't root to remove the built in apps or are running a custom firmware.
I'd say its safe - just back up your files (photos, music, apps and such).

How to utilize internal memory after CM7 root

I have seen a couple of threads asking this question but not answered.
Is there a way to utilize the internal memory after using the CM7 mSD card method?
It would be great to utilize the 7 or so GB in additional to whatever size the mSD card is as opposed to buying a $50-60 32GB mSD card.
thx in advance
As for running CM7, the max you can get out of the internal space usage is 5+ GB, can't get 7 or 8 GB.

Is that if I rooted using the internal memory?
If so I wanted to know if at all can I use the internal memory after rooting using the mSD card method.
If your NC is an old version, prior to 1.2, then you should have 5GB ready for use.
If it's v1.2 and later, only 1GB set by default but you can get 5GB if you don't mind re-partition.

When I use system -> storage I have 1.9 GB for system storage and 11.25 GB for USB storage.

Partitions for Note should look like this ( more or less ):
System: ~1.97GB
Internal Storage: ~11.07GB
Your whole user-space should be around 12-13GB. The rest is used for partition formatting etc.
There must be something wrong I will show u a pics

Now those pics with sd card 4gb it shows ehn I go to settings then storage USB storage is 11.7 1.32gb available space and sd card 4gb but when I look into disk usege or disk view it just shows 10gb the size of my USB storage and here's more pics with the sd mounted
Is this normal?

It shows 11.07GB as USB Storage. The SD Card is listed separately below.
System partition is not listed there, there is additional 2GB partition apart from what is displayed on the 3rd screen you provided, since you're on stock rom - you won't see it listed - but it's there, taking up the space. It's where Android stores apps that are installed to default location and other stuff.
Everything seems ok.

Where did my storage go? Can't move or install apps

Where did my storage go Galaxy Note
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am using this ROM on my Galaxy Note. After downloading my normal apps I tried to move them to SD and I get an error message stating "unable to move app. Not enough storage space"
Device memory shows: 1.6GB used
401MB Free
I have a 64GB SD card which has backups and media and the device can see and read and write to the SD Card.
When I look under settings and storage it says:
device memory:
Total space 1.97GB
Applications 1.56GB
Available : 295MB
USB Storage
Total space 11.07GB
Applications 162MB
Pictures, videos 190MB
Audio 9.31 MB
Miscellaneous files: 9.15GB
Available 6.78GB
SD Card
Total space 59.36GB
Available: 54.14
Can someone tell me why I am getting that error about not enough space. I don't understand. Is there a safe mod I can make so that I get more storage. Please assist.
Because app storage is 2GB only it is reserved even you put a 3TB ssd on it, it will not grow. Clean up some apps or search for apps2sd a application that can move SOME apps to the sd.
NOTE some apps will not run if you move to the sd or will run but they will not perform well.

Just figured it out on Friday. The 64GB card was formated FAT32. I had to insert the card and format it using the phone. Thanks
Why not Fat32

Experiences with SD Card as internal Storage (Lineage OS)

Hi,
I think about formatting my SD card as internal storage as the internal storage is really low on the L90.
Has someone tried this option and can share his experiences?
Will the device slowed down by the (Class 10) SD Card which is probably slower than the internal storage?
Any problems when updating the system or any other issues?
I didn't try it recently. But in my experience you are better off expanding you internal storage to 5GB, and using a program like FolderMount to move some apps to the SD Card.
And yes, a (Class 10) SD card is highly recommended.

What do you mean by expanding the internal storage to 5GB

Read carefully. I found another mod online that allows to expand the internal storage and keep the 2GB on the system partition.
You need to search.

I tried it, but it always lead to some kind of read error with the SD card followed by a series of crashes.
Which ROM are you using? Try with a different Twrp version. Probably version 2.8.7.0

Yes, the internal data partition is really small for L90, so it's almost impossible to survive without workarounds lor these device.
I've already tried the following:
1-) Using SD card class 10 LineageOS/Android 7.1.2, sdcard as adoptable (sdcard used as internal memory, native android resource):
I used this for sometime (months). At first everything worked flawless, I have *not* noticed performance issues.
only thing is that my sdcard stopped working and I lost some data after some months.
I have a suspicious that my sdcard could be of low quality, i'm considering to try this option again.
The main drawback of this choice is that the sdcard content is encrypted, so if you update system flashing I'm not sure data is kept or not, also you cannot recover content of sdcard by plugging it in your PC.
2-) Sandisk SDCard class 4 LineageOS/Android 7.1.2 + App2SD. (used Link2SD in older android versions)
I'm currently using this option. I'm linking some apps to a second partition (ext4) in my sdcard.
To avoid performance issues I choose apps that I use less or which does not run in background.
In android 7.1.2 I've to use App2SD as link2sd does not work properly.
Almost all apps that I use are working as expected, however, every time I update a linked app I'm facing issues.
Have to disable auto-link option in app2sd, so after update I have to link the manually app again.
I'm also curious about the workarounds people are using to overcome this low data size.

I'm using Lineage 15.1 on my Samsung J5. Recently I've adopted my Transcend SDHC 16GB Class 10 SD card as internal due to low internal storage. I have noticed that sometimes when my phone stays at idle for like 10/15minutes it becomes really slow. The homepage takes more than 5seconds to appear completely after passing the pattern. It takes 2/3minutes to comeback from the lag. When the lag ends I face no other performance drop. It runs smoothly. What do you think about my problem? Need help
