[Q] 2nd-bootloader on Kindle Fire HD - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I used KF First Aide to backup my entire kindle fire HD. Now i want to perform Step 39 so i can install that "Kinology" Rom. Just in case, if it bricks my device, can i restore my Kindle without a factory cable? I performed these steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888 and i was able to boot into fastboot, so my bootloader doesn't seems to be damaged.

[Q] 7" kindle fire HD boot loop

My 5yr old son was playing with a stock kindle fire and brought it to me saying it stopped working. He was correct because now it is stuck in a boot loop at the kindle logo. Is there anything I can do to fix it. Sorry in advanced if this has been a topic before, at work not much time to search. Any help would be appreciated thanks
You need a fastboot cable and the system restore utility. Here's a link to the utility:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254
Once u have a fast boot cable just ignore step 2 on that link, its kinda confusing but your fast boot cable basicly does what step 2's commands do, but those commands require the kindle to be fully booted.
Also wanted to check since I have seen a few rogue posts, is this a kindle fire 7", 8.9", or kf2., or somehow a kf1? That link I used is for HD 7" so if its another kindle please tell me or it will brick it further.

[Q] Kindle Fire HD 8.9 bricked help

my computer recon. the kindle fire and i can do enable fast boot from KFHD i see the kindle screen goes black then the kindle fire screen comes back up and stays...
2. KFHD_SRTv1.3.5 - option 3,4,5 all work but 1,2 say the failed remote data to large
3. KFHD_SRT_v2.1 - option 1,4 works..2,3 say the failed remote data to large
4. Kindle_Fire_Utility_v0.9.6 won't even work says ADB Status: Offline
am i doing something wrong ??? i am using windows 7
Don't use kindle fire utility on a kfhd u can hard brick it..
I am a bit unsure as to exactly what is going on, did you get it into fastboot mode because it doesn't sound like you did. Keep in mind factory cable isn't the cable your kindle came with, I call them fastboot cables so as not to confuse people with that term. If it is in fastboot mode your kindle should say fastboot in big letters on the screen. If it does get into fastboot and your having this error then I suggest checking to make sure your fastboot drivers are installed since kfu said its offline. Seriously though don't use kfu it can hard brick your device. On another note I just remembered you said this is a kf8.9. If you have adb laying around I suggest running the command on the system restore utility instructions. Then plug your kindle in and power it on, it should go into fastboot from what I have heard about 8.9 inch kindles.

Help, kindle won't boot

I have a rooted kindle fire hd 7"
I switched the Kindle Launcher from a system app to a user app in Titanium Backup Pro which caused the android to freeze.
After powering off the Kindle it will no longer boot or make connection to the PC. It is stuck on the kindle fire screen.
What do I need to do to fix this?
U will need a fastboot cable to fix it. Once you hook one up u need to flash the system image, using either kffa or the kfhd system restore utility. Unless of course u had twrp installed first, then it would be really easy to fix.

I ordered the fastboot cable table.
Once I get the cable I connect the Kindle to my pc using the cable and then what? Do I launch KFFA on my pc at that time?
Also, what is this twrp that I keep reading about?
Plug your kindle into fastboot cable, then after your kindle displays "fastboot", plug your normal cable back into your PC, make sure the drivers install or fastboot command won't work. After that either use kffa or kfhd restore tool. I don't know much about kffa because I haven't ever had to use it. If u use kfhd restore tool, ignore the command on step 2.
Oh and as to twrp, its a recovery u can install over the stock kindle fire recovery that is pretty useless. It allows us to flash custom ROMs, and u can modify a few things in the filesystem like moving that file back to where it belongs and setting its permissions. You should be fine if you Install it after you fix this, just make sure you read its instructions and fellow them to a tee or you will get a red screen on boot and have to use your fastboot cable to restore the boot loader. I recommend using seokhuns tutorial in the android development section.

I just wanted to say thanks.
I received my fastboot cable from SkOrPn and followed the directions in this thread to use kfhd to restore the kindle to its factory image.

Kindle Fire (1st Gen)

Hello,
I have a Kindle Fire (2nd Gen) running on firmware 7.4.6, is there a tutorial on how I can root and run another OS
instead of the Kindle OS?
Use this to root it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Use this to get 2nd boot loader + twrp installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909
Two important things you should note, one is put the ROM and its corresponding gapps on the kindle's sdcard ahead of time or you may suffer a boot loop and have to push the film manually into twrp. Second is when you open fireflash, make sure to check the first check box, it should have red warning text under it. If you don't check this box you will reboot to a red screen and it will require a fastboot cable to fix. BTW you might wanna fix the thread title since this is a kfhd not a first gen kf1. Only reason I can tell is because of the os version. Kf1's have a completely different method to root and flash since they don't have a high security processor that checks the boot loaders signature.
