Same answer goes for the release date of Android 5.0 for the XZ.
Aka NO ONE KNOWS

Any WiFi issues with this phone are on the user side. I've used it with 4 different wireless routers at four different addresses with 3 different internet companies and have no WiFi issues at all
As for 4.2.2, unless Sony miraculously solve it, WiFi will not stay on with screen off and will grey out almost every time you turn off the screen meaning you'll get no data or notifications with screen off. Absolute pain and reason I dumped my Nexus 4.

Did you updated your stock firmware from the PC Suite? I think the issue is fixed there, if you are facing as I am not.

According to me theres only problem with wifi signal indicator as I downloaded an app wifi tester from the store and there u can se even if the indicator shows last bar the signal is actually more..

I'm waiting for the 4.2.2:crying:

Sv: Release date of 4.2.2?
Dont think we should expect 4.2 until Sony has released 4.1 to all 2012 models. After that I think it will be atleast 1 month until 4.2 comes to Z.
Sent OTA using TapaTalk

Well i read somewhere that 4.2.2 will come to Xperia z in the end of March. But is not confirmed by Sony, so is just rumours probably.

source of the rumour

for me absolutely no chance of being out this month, and i wouldnt hold my breath on next month, theres really no point worrying about it immediately after release, plus they seem busy enough with the 4.1 rollout on the older devices.

I think in upgraded version 4.2.2 many new features will come and throw out some bugs, i am waiting it's new upgraded version.

[Q] Sony Xperia T reboots if on WiFi

Hi,
I have just received my Xperia T from Orange today. The problem I'm having is that the phone will reboot if previously it entered standby with wifi enabled.
I've tried enabling/disabling "Keep WiFi on during sleep" option. The result is the same.
It works fine with Orange data-traffic enabled.
My T is running on 4.0.4 with build 7.0.A.3.223 build number and I can't update automatically.
Im thinking of rooting and switching to custom ROM or manually flashing the official Sony JB - in either case i'm loosing my warranty.
I just want to know first if this is a known issue and it's fixable with a new ROM, and my device isn't broken.
Any help is really appreciated, as I'm so dissapointed by Sony only after 10 minutes of using the T.
Thanks.

No, that isn't a known issue, and it never happened to me when I had that version.
Try upgrading to the newest stock rom an if it keeps rebooting take it back to the shop because it is faulty. As Hackberrybold said, if you flash the original Sony rom, warranty is not voided.

At least the first thread was started by someone with an Orange Xperia too, like yourself; (the second one doesn't specify).
I wonder if this bug is caused by whatever customization Orange applies to its devices...
Weird T-Mobile didn't get 223 version, nothing past 195.
But doesn't have this issue, if you go for a replacement, see if ee will give you a T-Mobile allocated one...

Unfortunately there is no T-mobile in Romania.
In the meantime I'm taking the legit way, just installed Sony PCC and it seems it has a firmware update for me. I will try this and hopefully I'll be a happier T owner.
Things like this make me miss my former HTCs.
All's well that ends well, my T just runs 4.1.2 // 9.1.A.0.489 and it seems I'm able to exit standby normally with WiFi enabled.
Thank you guys for the prompt answers.

Hello! It also happens to my Xperia T. I don't think is the Orange customization, because I have the original ROM from Telcel (Mexico), (7.0.A.1.303), but it only happens with one WiFi Network, the one from my school. In other WiFi's it has no problems at all... at least not yet. When connected to that specifically Wi Fi it reboots ONLY if I press the Standby/power button or goes to sleep by inactivity. I've used it for about 15 minutes (Web browsing, Whatsapp, downloading docs, etc.) without pressing the standby button and it doesn't reboot at all until I press that button, or goes to standby after no use (Mine is set up to 1 minute).
I've tried turning on/off de Mobile Data, and it doesn't affect it. I'm actually going to flash JB today, so next monday I'll try again that conflictive WiFi on JB (Stock official ROM).
If anyone can tell me how to get more info on that WiFi (To see if it has something that can trigger the bug, or anything in common with another conflictive WiFi's) I'll do that on monday.
Tnx

[Q] Xperia T disconnects from Wi-Fi automatically.

My Xperia T disconnects from Wi-fi automatically. One minute it is connected and running fine but suddenly it disconnects and shows out of range. Strangely this happens only on stock or stock based rom. Wi-Fi runs fine when running CM10.1. So i guess its not hardware issue. I would use CM10.1 but its so unreliable. I missed several important calls due to sudden reboot in CM10.1 and in stock I cant use my Wi-Fi properly. It disconnects automatically. I have tried every wifi setting combination but none of them work. I am frustrated because of this. I have treid every firmware from from ICS to latest .145. But nothing is helping. Is there some kind of wifi power saver that i can disable or maybe i can update wifi driver in my xperia T. I am in desperate need of solution. Please help me. :crying:
Tough one... have you gone into Settings, then Power Management? There is "extended standby mode" option on my phone that seems like it would turn the wifi off while the phone is idling.
Also, is this on any wifi connection? Or mainly your home wifi? It would be worth having a look at the website of your router's manufacturer to see if there is a new firmware available for your wireless router.
I would like to suggest trying stock firmwares from other regions but I don't know how safe that is. Is your phone an LT30a? LT30p?
Right now I'm using LT30p_9.1_A.1.141_PL on my LT30a (Bell) and wifi is quite solid.

Thanks m8, all my nexus devices are having wifi issue with anything above channel 11, really odd bug can cant get 5G working at all so no AC currently.
Such a strange little bug.
I'm having problems connecting to a Channel 11 WiFi that I don't have to its configuration. This happened since the L Developer Preview and is still there after the 5.0 release.
However, it worked perfectly fine on versions 4.4.4 and older!
A bug report is here.

Thanks, I was on the point of rolling back to 4.4.4 as I wasn't able to get wifi to work again, other than from Safe mode.
However it seems to be working now that I've shifted my channel from 13 to 8
I have the same problem here, finally i'm not the only one having this issue. Fixed after changing Wireless Channel number to 11 from 13 and i'm not sure if this is also related with Wifi drain bug.
Has no one tried:

I'm also facing a problem with wifi on my Nexus 5 (D821) with Android 5.0.
I can't connect to my wifi repeater TP-LINK TL-WA850RE, the device says it's connected but shows that "!" sign.
I don't know if it has something to do with wifi channels, since the repeater works fine on another devices running Android 4.4.4 and Windows, PCs, etc.
Don't know if it's another wifi bug on Lollipop or what.

Nope, you are not the only one, I have the same problem. I actually did a clean install of Lollipop, it was terrible. Battery pretty much drained in about 8 hours with less than an hour of screen on time. I have reinstalled again (this time installed 4.4.4 and then doing an OTA). Lets see how that fares. Overnight, with minimal apps running I got from 97% to about 74% (7 hours) with wifi off, but in battery stats wifi is being shown as on.

Bad WiFi and data signal/signal strength.

On my stock nexus 6 (not rooted) I always have a poor WiFi signal. If I'm right next to the router I'm OK, but in the next room it's an extremely low signal and always slow. My data signal is always weaker as well. Whenever I'm running a custom ROM like CM 12 or even other custom stock roms my WiFi signal is very strong even further away. Its not my router because the phone does it anywhere. I'm just wondering if anyone else has these issues running completely stock or a fix or something. Thank you.

It would help a bit if you mentioned what software revision your stock ROM is. Also, is this just WiFi or are you having mobile data issues too?
It has done this on all android 5 versions. Right now I'm on the latest. LMY47l.

Also it is mostly Wi-Fi. I do notice my signal is weaker in places I usually have a strong one though.

I just got my nexus last Thursday on Verizon. Data didn't seem right to me either. Had issues activating the phone, slow page loads on both Wi-Fi and data, dropped calls. Went back to the store, they insisted on swapping sims and sending me home to try it. Waste of time. So I went back today and swapped for another phone. It seems some better, but still not right. Certainly not like my note 3 was before. And they were even known for radio issues... Mine is straight out of the box, no mods, no apps yet, no root, etc. Running 5.1, LMY47E
Sorry, no answers to offer (yet anyway). Just letting you know your not alone. I usually wait a week or so before rooting and romming a new phone to let the new wear off. In a week, if that fixes it, I'll be glad to leave a rom on it

What are those steps?
I am not on Sprint, I am using Vodafone in The Netherlands and I got this weak data connection problem.
Well, actually it is weird. Sometimes, the phone went to "G" because it cannot connect to 3G/HSDPA. But, it does this quite often in "certain places" where it's not like this when I got the it for the first time.
And some times also, when I get the phone to a place with strong signal, it has difficulty to regain 3G/HSDPA. I saw the "3G or H icon" glitching, trying to connect .... disconnect ... connect ... disconnect.
Then I must reboot the phone, after that it's normal.
Not often though.
I am running stock 5.1 (OTA updated via adb), not-rooted, but unlocked.

No, sorry. Some of those codes I linked are universal but I believe the data reset code is specifically for Sprint. Look for the AT&T specific thread in the general forum and see if there's anything mentioned there.

Another WI-FI issue

As I've already read, SD 835 phones including this one suffer Wi-Fi drops and disconnects. My particular issue is that even though the device is connected to wifi either speed seems to slow down a lot or internet simply doesn't work, I can tap whatever I want in Chrome and the loading bar below the address bar fills in a millisecond and disappears. Happens on different routers, router configuration reset doesn't help nor does device reset. Was the issue already addressed by any update or should I wait?

It is, however most people complain about disconnects making them restart the phone. In my case wifi is still connected, but it sometimes seems to stop working while still being connected and wifi relaunch fixes the issue.. 145 fw didn't solve it, so I guess we should wait.

Have a similar wifi problem using (US) firmware .145. A restart fixes it, but eventually the problem resurfaces again. May wait to update until firmware following .179 is available, as I've read that in some cases .179 makes the problem worse. (?)

I did this. Problem was still present on US phone as some predicted. Returned that phone as well.
I'm using CE1 .145 firmware and it started to do that problem a week ago. I have never experienced that before that time. I have to restart my phone at least twice a day and it appears even I'm not connected to any wifi router.
I'll see when update will come. It's horrible.

I'm not experiencing the Wi-Fi disconnect very often, fortunately, but it makes the problem more difficult to diagnose. Odd that some people experience it regularly, even several times a day.

For me it happened several times in a couple of minutes time. I'm on a college campus though, a lot of wifi hotspots around because of the university's wifi network, I think that made it worse.
Solving Wifi Issue of Sony Xperia XZ1 SOV36

As I've already read, SD 835 phones including this one suffer Wi-Fi drops and disconnects. My particular issue is that even though the device is connected to wifi either speed seems to slow down a lot or internet simply doesn't work, I can tap whatever I want in Chrome and the loading bar below the address bar fills in a millisecond and disappears. Happens on different routers, router configuration reset doesn't help nor does device reset. Was the issue already addressed by any update or should I wait?

Several days ago, my xperia also sufering wifi issues. The wifi is disabled by my device.
I have done so much attempts to solve it until I got this:
Connect the device to the PC and open ADB Fastboot. Then, conduct this codes:
adb shell
settings put global captive_portal_detection_enabled 0
That's all. My wifi work again.
I hope that will work on you.
Code:
adb shell
settings put global captive_portal_detection_enabled 0
This worked for me. Thank you
