different model numbers - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have a question. I have noticed there are different model numbers for the sony xpera z
The C6603 and the C6602. What is the difference between them?
Also do they use the same rom's?

Why don't you google this question?
You wil get the answer faster.
With LTE(6603)and without LTE(6602).
They have the same rom with little modifications for LTE support.

[Q] Telus Milestone question

hey guys.. ive tried looking for this information but cant find it any where.. i currently have HTC desire and still have the 14 days to return the phone.. im thinking of goin with a Milestone because of the qwerty keyboard.. onscreen really isnt working for me.. i had a few questions:
1. Is it possible to flash another rom on the telus milestone (froyo most likely).. I have looked around for this.. some say u can some say u cant im really confused.. apparently its locked so u only put a ROM on top of the stock?? if that is the case then would it not be bogged down by the stock rom on there still?
2. If you can reflash or whatever its called to froyo.. would i lose warranty? i have the phone replacement with best buy.. would that be gone? and if yes, is there a way to go back to the stock rom so they would never know? i read somewhere that a telus stock rom doesnt exist.. so im not sure
3. i read somewhere that you cant manually link your phone and google contacts to facebook contacts.. is this true? because in my desire its very easy to do so.
4. why does everyone want to unlock 3g on telus phones? isnt the milestone already on the new hspa network??
5. (optional) is it a good idea to with the milestone over desire? i know opinions may be biased cuz its a milestone forum but just thought id ask.. im iffy about the lower cpu speed and half the ram.
thank you in advance for your help.. and sorry if i posted in the wrong section

The only bit of the software left stock is the kernel. There won't be any noticeable decrease in free space when you flash a custom "rom". You just won't gain the performance benefits of a completely optimized kernel, which people are trying to work around.

Technically you do lose your warranty, but it's easy to return to your stock firmware. There's a thread stickied in this forum for this very purpose.

The Facebook for Android application can do this for you.

I believe what you're referring to is when people with Telus milestones flash "roms" from different parts of the world. Usually it disables the frequencies needed for 3G in North America.

They're both great devices. The Milestone has the disadvantage of being locked down ridiculously tight by Motorola, but it's really up to preference. I'm going to make the assumption that you're not crazy about customizing your phone, in which case, you probably won't notice much difference. ROM availability is far superior for the Desire, though, due to it's unlocked bootloader. If a QWERTY keyboard is something you like, then the choice is pretty clear.
Lastly, this is the wrong section, lol.
okay thank you very much.. yes I wont be modding it too much .. however i would like to have froyo on it.. i was just scared that I will be wasting my phone replacement plan if i cant get it back to the stock rom..

No, and will most likely never do. It's too complicated to get that working across all the different Phone models, and no one is trying to make it work.
Most Cyanogen developers are spending their time getting CM9 up and running anyways.

[Q] Need advice... please read

Hello.. I am about to upgrade my phone to a Galaxy S3 LTE titanium edition which is released by EE in UK.
But before I pull the trigger I have a few questions...
Will I be be able to use the same Rom made for the 3g version on my LTE GS3 Or will there be a specific section on xda for LTE version?
According to some websites there are a few hardware differences like 2gig of ram in LTE compared to 1gig n 3g.. Does anybody know any other hardware differences?
Thanks

Thanks

Nah it's not supported as much yet... I own an Australian i9305. The first stable AOSP roms are starting to emerge though!
I'm really hoping for a Slimbean rom though.

Hm.. actually, the stock rom is very smooth and fast with that 2G ram in I9305, I don't think there is a need to use custom rom. The 1G ram really make the difference between i9300 and i9305.

Yea. That's why the rom development is not active in i9305 forum. I think there is no big room for improvement to the stock rom.
I think the only option that i missed from stock rom is the "auto switch to 2G network when the screen is off" function. Because the 2G network is really saving a lot of battery.
Currently I think only cm rom support the auto toggle of 2G and 3G networks.
However, nevermind now, my portable charger arrive now, I dont' need to save battery anymore.
Really satisfied with this phone ( I came from xperia X10).

[Q] T-Mobile Wifi Calling

Hey everyone. Well, I just have a question. I was doing some research on this but couldn't find what I needed.
I have the Sony Xperia Z1 (c6903) and I'm currently on T-Mobile and wondering if there is any apk for the Wifi-Calling? I don't want to flash a rom on my phone, but so far that's the only way, at least from what I read. Pleassee correct me if I'm wrong, it would be the best Christmas present ever! =P
Thanks!

Flashing Z2 on Z1

I don't know whether my question is allowed here or not, but it's driving me crazy
Can I flash Z2 Rom on Z1? Maybe it bricks the phone, and I think that's soft brick, right?
Please help me
No, it uses a different chipset.
Edit: just to give some perspective, I used to own a HTC One X and there were two variants of the device - one 4g with different chip, and the other 3g only.
The guys using the 4g variant thought their phone was the same as 3g one and flashed their ROMs, they ended up mostly hard bricking their devices.

So by this means, I can flash because some software features are near
And you didn't mention whether it can be bricked or not
Is that hard or soft brick?

dont flash a z2 rom..it would definitelly hard brick your device...cause of ram and another memory chip ...hmm ... im going to test something :silly:
or better im not sure if it bricks your device or not cause, most things are near to aur z1 and when im right the z2 uses a bit modified firmware from our z1 so i really want to test it...i think i do this on a friends z1

so now we know: you cant flash z2 stock firmware on our z1 i think shes going to kill me for that not my best idea to use my sisters z1 for that
but the next thing i gonna test is: cm kernel for z1 and a cm based rom for z2 i think it boots ....ps ya all can flash roms for z ultra but ehm -> im not responsible for any hard/soft bricks, atomic explosions, your device explodes or any other things<-
edit: i take that back with the zu 0_o
Ok thanks
Now got it
