When the host mode drivers were being released for the Tab there was some mention of being able to turn on host mode without a OTG cable being required (with it's special resistor)
I cannot seen to find an option to force host mode in the few roms I've tried.
Is there maybe a command from the terminal I can use to trick it to turn on?

please dont use any USB hubs...connect it to the USB port on the motherboard side....normally on the rear side for the Desk tops.....on the laptop all ports are directly connected normally...
secondly, what is your config? ROM?Kernel?please state your current configuration which can allow others to understand the situation.
Thanks
yeah i dont use usb hub i connect it directly i tried it on my laptop but its not working
my o2x dont say that usb debugging is connected it only charge
im on stock GB now 2.3.4 v20g
Don't want to hijack this thread, just got the same problem. (Not a complete noob here, rooted lots of different devices)
Bought a used 2x today. Froyo 2.2.2 german stock on it.
It just doesn't show the prompt that USB is connected
Tried:
- LG Mobile Driver from version 2.x.x up to 3.7.2
- on Win7 32 bit, Win7 64bit, Win XP 32 bit on various USB ports
- LG PC Suite obviously doesn't connect too
- checked/unchecked USB debugging, USB mass storage and all the obvious settings
- tried different cables
Would be really great if someone experienced could point us in the right direction.
EDIT:
After lots and lots of google I found out about a menu when dialing: 1809#*990#
With these options available:
CP Image Download
FET Disable
FET Enable
AP UART
CP UART
AP USB
CP USB
CP UART gave me at least a life sign once by saying that Windows wasn't able to recognize the device.
Is this issue really unsolvable?
Sorry for the bump, but I got some update.
when dialing the above mentioned 1809#*990# in the Port menu, switching from default AP USB to AP/CP UART gave me life signs.
After switching to AP UART I linked the Unknown device driver to lgusbdiag.inf located in C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/LG United Mobile Driver.
Suddenly it started installing it and is now recognized as: LGE Platform Android USB Device.
Once disconnected I lose USB again, I'm able to recreate the first steps though even in default AP USB mode by now.
The only thing I need USB for is for flashing a custom recovery but the only thing I don't have is ADB somehow : / Clockwork telling me: device not found.
Any help on this one?
any idea guys about my problem?
Have you tried my method?
After manually installing drivers with CP UART on, switching back to default permanently enabled access with default AP USB settings as well.
i tried that but it only charge
theres a weird thing in my cp when i switch to cp uart my o2x says it charging even i dont connect it to my pc or charge it
Ap uart - p990 / p999
I have LG P999. rooted and cyanogen.
None of the special DTMF dialing # codes is not working (also code changed from 990 to 999) (i sow some other in another posts)
is anybody know a way to change to AP UART by software (with eclipse...)
or with a special cable?
i need to use AP UART - meaning to have a serial com in AP(app).
Thanks,
Tamir
guys,
Have you tried to install MyPhone Explorer and try the same....it can connect your device via wifi,USB or Bluetooth....so some way should work....
any Android version above Froyo(included) should work....I use this always...one of very useful and bug free apps.
Try it
i wanted to mass install my APKs over ADB using android injector, but it seems that usb debugging mode is buggy - it doesn't show my touchpad as a removable drive - it appears as if it's connected via MTP.
any help here?
thanks!

Unfortunately, I have not yet found a way to connect the Touchpad to a computer using USB. I usually use Wifi (AirDroid) or MTP, or just reboot into recovery. I'm not aware that the functionality has ever been implemented. I'm not sure what Android Injector is, but if it requires you to be booted in the ROM's partition and over USB, I don't think you can use it with the Touchpad.
But using adb isn't affected by MTP... I've never tried whatnot your doing BUT unless something is wrong with your cable or PC drivers.... adb commands like push, pull and install should work just fine if you have them allowed under Developer options

I've got a machine running Windows 7 (x64) that has only a couple of USB 3.0 ports.
ADB and Fastboot drivers from Flashtool are installed, and ADB works fine.
Fastboot, however, does not. Pressing VOL UP while connecting to the PC doesn't do anything, and the phone just starts charging. The last time I faced this problem (on a different m/c), I just switched to a USB 2.0 port. Can't do that anymore.
Is there a solution or workaround for this issue? The USB 3.0 drivers are by Intel, not Microsoft.
Just found this solution.
Go to BIOS > Advanced > USB > XHCI and change the setting to Disabled.
This will make the ports run in USB 2 mode, and fastboot works as usual.

Its 2020 right now and laptops are having only usb 3.0 or 3..1 ports and their bios don't have the xHCI mode so we can't enable usb 2.0 from the bios so we can't do the basic fastboot command to flash TWRP
so further testing is not possible in new mobile and we can't have usb 2.0 all the time so there must be some solution for this.

You could try using a cheap USB 2.0 hub if nothing else works for you.
hello
dropped my N6 on to a marble floor, the screen is black and touch is not responding. the phone seems to be working otherwise. usb debugging is off, the phone is fully stock (stock recovery, bootloader is locked, encryption is the marshmellow default, phone is not rooted). There is no lockscreen pin or pattern, just the standard slide to unlock. photos are not auto-backed up online, so I need access to the phone itself.
when I plug the phone into my computer, I cannot file explore it because I need to enable a prompt on the phone to MTP instead of charge only. as USB debug if off I cannot use ADP PULL / SDCARD.
I have two ideas:
1) use Wug's nexus root toolkit and do something there like put TWRP on, and then use TWRP to avoid the USB debug being off. I'm not sure on the details of this though! Any guide on the steps here? the power and volume hardware keys work, so in theory I can get into recovery with the right steps.
2) get a micro-usb hub, and plug in a wired mouse as well as connect to my computer, then blindly click about hoping that I enable MTP or USB debugging. I can then either copy files off in windows explorer or use Vysor to control the phone over ADB and email files etc as needed. Would this work? I don't have a hub so would need to spend £5-10 buying one
Many thanks in advance for any help!
Option 1 won't work because the bootloader is locked. You'll have to try option 2.
Hi ! I don't know why but I want to connect my Pixel 4a 5G Yesterday on my mac and today on Pc the pixel is not recognized.
I have uncheck usb debuging and check it again but not working.
My Pixel are on last Android 12 and root with magisk. it is possible that a mode can create a problem with the OTG ?
I have test on Safe mod doesn't work too
I have connect an usb type c usb key it recognize.
I have test connect on plateform tools and on terminal ./adb devices, have message on pixel to allow my computer and it recognize but not Android File transfert ?
I think stay the new update and see if I can update it !?
I don't understand why ?
Thanks
Hi ! I post again because when I connect usb key mtp works and if I connect to my mac and go to settings usb parameters and choose transfert files/Android auto that work but never had notification pop-up for choose it
USB is a master/slave protocol. When you plug in an otg cable, your phone's USB controller switches into host mode. Your computer's USB is always in host mode. So your effectively trying to get two master devices to communicate which USB does not support.
