Audio quality issues resolved ? - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I was two clicks away from buying a Razr I, then I (hopefully ?) lurked on a few reviews and forum posts here and there complaining about its really bad audio quality.

Felt a very sad panda
I really want to love that phone, but this is a total deal breaker for me. I'm certainly not what you would call an audiophile but I'm an avid deezer/spotify/mp3 listenner and I expect at least average smartphone sound quality.
So.
Since time has passed since those negatives feedback, I was wondering if maybe a solution had been found
- Hardware ? Not everyone reported to have those issues/bad overall quality; maybe bad batches from Motorola ?
- Software ? JB improved ? Anything else ? Of course I wouldn't mind root the hell out of him and install whatever rom may do the job.
Wanna change my old phone and I don't see any other interesting ones for me (beside Vivo X1), so it feels like a gamble... Thanks anyway for your answers :good:

The Audio quality is great after the JB update!

Thank you !
Could you please elaborate just a bit; are you positive that the JB update fixed the previous problems or are you just happy with your phone as it is ?

I am positive JB fixed it
1) Used to have a lot static noise/disturbance, its gone now and also the music now sounds well ummm... like crisp
2) This is not related to your question but still, JB update fixed a Wifi bug, as in before it would not recognise eduroam networks
Also you could invest in a pair of decent earphones. I hate the Motorola ones

sounds good (hahah)
thank you:good:

Motorola earphones sucks completely.
I had an LG GT540 3~4 years later, and his earphones is much better than Motorola crap. Note: I still have the LG earphone, and yes, I use at least 5 days a week

Yep, I don't expect anything from provided earphones (who does ?), I just want a decent sound reconstitution and no hiss while using spotify&co with my own earphone / external speaker.
Will provide feedback when I'll get it next week

Hello! I made threads like this before I bought this phone and others, I'm more than happy to tell you what you need to know!
I had the same concerns before I bought this, I've been using my smartphones as an ipod-replacement. I have about 30GB of music which I put on my SD and I like to sync playlists etc.
What I found: the speaker on the phone is crap. That's the story, it is crap. Try the speaker on a Sony phone for comparisson, it is brilliant. Note that the first link you gave says that using headphones seems to reduce the distortion significantly - it is true. In my opinion, the phone with earphones beats the sound quality of my ipod classic 160GB. It probably does not totally match my Xperia Sola however. There are so many apps for music with various tweaqs that you can fine-tune to your liking. For example, my favourite is Rocket Player. Good bass options and pre-amp, sych properly with iTunes etc.
One thing that I have to complain about, though this is generally with Android, if you try to sync music and playlists instead of drag and drop, then nothing beats an ipod with itunes. They sync perfectly, but I have tried just about any pc software and android app combination you can imagine and they fu*k up quite a lot for syncing a music library like mine of 30GB or so.
Any more questions just ask. :good:

Well thank you kind sir !
If it has a better sound than a Ipod (even old ones) I guess it aswers my question and fulfills my expectations about this nice little droid :good:
Can't wait to geek hard on it.

Are you satisfied with your Xperia?

Hi,
Note: Anyone who votes and replies, can you please post the current result of the poll in your reply as well. (so that people who don't have the mobile in their hands yet - like me - and can't actually vote in the poll can see the results too...)
So... you've got an Xperia, eh? You lucky dog!
I bought mine the Friday before last - i.e. on the 25th, and am still waiting delivery. So while i wait, i thought i'd ask from you - the proud (or not) owners of Xperia... "In a nutshell - Are you Satisfied with your Xperia?"
If you are the owners of or have owned Touch Pro prior to Xperia, then cast your vote here as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441550
Leave comments if you want.

Yes I am satisfied.
the best smartphone on the planet right now
Hell yes, definately the best phone ive had! Looks good, well made, couple of minor issues but nothing major. Ask me again in 6 months
is Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and is too bad because now everyone will know that sonyericsson is really the best.
Despite the initial dissapointment with panels I am very happy. I use the SPB panel for everything and occassionally trot the others out for showing off (fish, music & movies) or a quick google search.
For me the keyboard is nice with easy to access shortcuts and everything works like it should. There are some incompatibilities with my favorite software (S2U2 barely works and is overridden by both panels and sliding out the keyboard) but other than that it runs as fast (touch pro) or faster than any other WM ppc I have ever used!
Phone Signal - Strong
Internet access - Very Quick
GPS - Fast (especially with Quick GPS)
Wifi - Strong
Keyboard - No Lag
Battery Life - 2 1/2 days of medium to heavy abuse on a full charge
4 1/2 Stars (Lose 1/2 for panels)
Took my touch pro back due to the GPS lag and changed for the x1 cause I was still within my 14-day period.
Must admit, it was a great decision. I agree with the statement made above, the panels are a little disappointing but im sure things will improve as more panels are developed.
Besides, we should be able to port TF3D and get the best of both worlds.
No GPS lag, Windows seems snappier navagating through the menu's and the phone feels a lot more solid than the pro.
Current voting is 19 - 1

TF3D is already ported
And ofc it's 19 - 1, it's in the Xperia forum after all, if you start it in the TP forum it'll be 19-1 for TP
Very Satisified. It's all I was hoping for. Keyboard is really good and had a fun day today showing my friend everything practically (GPS, Web, Email etc.) all very smoothly. Suffice it to say that she wanted it as well but ain't due for an upgarde until June next year
Still waiting to get mine, will be interested to see how it compares with my Touch Pro (which will probably get the heave-ho once the Xperia arrives I suspect).
Pure ****..
I really regret bying my X1,it is slow incredible buggy and even my Nokia E90 it was ment to replace has more to offer then this hyped "superphone".. Worst of all is the reception whish is far below average and driving me mad, X1 vs stonewall is the most likely ending to this,,,,,soon,,,next time it just lying there looking stupid searching for signal,,, whamm..
nice looking and probably a solid build other then that..

Can you share some of the bugs?
its okay. but not e real milestone.
my x1 is very heavy!its weight is nearly 160 gramms. it feel like a brick.
but it looks impressive. and the display is bigger. but thats all.
the more of ram is okay, but not really feelable.
i miss stereo speakers
hardware video encoder for 640x480 @30 frames
(the videocapture suxx completely!!very blocky and a lot of loss frames!)
answering machine capabillitys. (it`s the same on all windows phones)
tv out????
menus not fast enough. (with tweaked caches too)
where is the g-sensor/motion sensor gone????? the raphael has got one.
its not really better than my htc diamond.
okay, the keyboard its the most important feature, but the phone
FEELS the double of size and weight. so i can wear a mini blutetooth
keyboard in addition to a diamond. thats cheaper.
(its not really the double weight/size, but it feels so!)
the most missing features are realised in the good old nokia n95, years ago.
why can`t htc implement this features? why sony ericsson will use
the f*cking htc cam. in view of the good name of cybershot products,
they lose a lot of reputation.
for 650 bucks, i hoped to become 'the top phone' on market.
but its just a htc rapahael (diamond with keyboard), in y new case
with 2 keyboard keys more, they named one of it X-panel-key. xpanel is just a software,
i can install to any windows phone, and use the button remap tool
and use x-panel by pressing long end of call key.
Don't miss my Kaiser at all...actually don't even know where I put it.
There are some little things with the X1 that could be better but overall this is the best phone I've ever used (and I've used a lot).
The most frustrating thing about owning this phone is how much sleep i'm missing because i'm playing with the damn thing so much
I love it.

i miss a "yes, but..."-button in the poll.
i am satisfied with my x1, but there are some problems with it.
1. bluetooth turns off randomly
2. optical joystic turns on ramdomly
3. when i install tf3d the x1 gets very unstable and crashes after 2-3 panel changes (even after multiple softresets)
you can share my problems? or you have already solutions to this probs?
thanks & greetz

Very happy with the phone haven't had any bugs yet.
However O2 have fiddled with the rom and this has left me with a couple of niggles i.e no google panels and no bluetooth FTP function.

There's always some noob and dumb ass w/ no idea what they are doing.
My x1 is rock solid so far compare to all my previously owned phone so far.
only problems i have arent the X1 at fault.
1. poor reception. its O2 as its fine with my old tmobile sim,
2. opera has issues, but its known to be a beta i believe and a last minute additin to the X1.
technically theres a third, no multitasking the radio but im not too fussed.

First Post : some X1 questions...

ok I am guess everyone in the forum is uber informed about all things smartphone.....
So basically I feel like someone playing dualing banjo's at a mensa meeting.
well now that the self-deprication is out of the way my questions I am hoping to get some answers to.
First of all I am considering getting the Xperia x1 through Rogers. Being canadian its my only choice other than paying an insane amount for an unlocked......
I am worried rogers has totally locked down the phone though. I have only scratched the surface of all the cool stuff that can be done with this phone.
Just glancing at the mod section of this forum made my head spin.
Anyways if anyone here has the rogers version of the x1 could you please let me know if its a shackled broken version of its unlocked stupid expensive self.
If not would it be a endurance trial to get it unlocked? From the tiny bit of research I have done so far I am pretty sure paying someone else to do it would be my only option.
Being able to do it myself would be a happy suprise though. Hell not having to unlock it at all would be the best suprise of all.....
Anyways thats enough of a rant for my first post. I really hope all you knowlegable people don't mind me picking your brain.....
Thanks in advance.
You don't need to unlock. Just Hard-SPL (there is a tutorial in the stickies at the beginning of the ROM forum) and then you can flash with any custom ROM you like.
There are also an abundance of cabs that you can use to customize your device in a variety of ways, whether you choose stock ROM or a custom one.
If you want to migrate to a different provider there are options to SIM unlock your phone, but if all you want is to get rid of Rogers garbage that is on your phone, read up on Hard-SPL and then look at some of the custom ROMs.
Hope this helps a little.
I will look up the Hard-SPL right away....
Though it sounds perfect I don't want to get my hopes up to high. If its to complicated and there is any chance of me bricking the x1 I don't know if it will be worth it.
Then again if I read the tutorial until my eyes bleed I should be able to do it blindfolded....
Anyways dude it more than helps its amazing I really appreciate the info. While I have your attention 2 more questions about the x1 if I could.
First does it double as a decent media player? I have been looking for one for a LONG time and having it combined with my phone would be convenient.
For movies, anime,tv shows and audio books.....just to name some media I would use it for.
And second can the X1 connect to any wireless internet source or do you have to have internet through your cell provider?
Thanks again. Cheers!
It's got Wi-Fi, so don't worry about that. You can tap into Wi-Fi same as you would on any laptop.
As far as media player... well that depends. It can play a lot of different file types by default. There is a Media Xperience Panel that organizes things pretty well (There are a lot of versions of this floating around, be sure to get a good one for you - took me a while). Unfortunately hardware acceleration only really seems to work in old-fashioned Windows Media Player on the device.
There are third-party software solutions like Kinoma and Core Player that are pretty and nice, but their performance may suffer on high-res videos.
I'd recommend trying different solutions. If you are trying to watch full WVGA (800X480) video you may want to launch with Windows Media Player (I hate it, but your video will look smooth and beautiful), but if you are going to be watching WQVGA (400X240) resolution or lower video many other choices could be good.
Sorry, if that part of the answer is long-winded, but I am trying to wind-up a lot of info I have accumulated on the subject into one post. For more detailed info you may want to search the forums. I know there is video conversion software and info here somewhere.
Some Xperia users have been very happy with video performance, others have not. So this is something that will likely be subjective.
Music, though, works great (I use bluetooth headphones) and it has a regular headphone jack, if you are so inclined to use it. I listen to all my podcasts from my Xperia, which I download off of my Wi-Fi connection at home. So no need to sync or transfer or anything.
High-Res screen on the Xperia also makes picture viewing very enjoyable.
Hope this answers your questions pretty well.
speakers
Just thought I would point out that while sound is great with headphones and fine for talking on the phone, the loudspeaker on the xperia isnt that good,
Also have you considered waiting for the x2?
it has a few software and hardware upgrades, but it will be a little pricy at first and XDA developers wont fully support it cause its not HTC manufactured.
Aside from that The X1 is a great phone, and the price these days is quite good. I have one and Im giving one to my father for christmas.
First of all thank you both for your input.
Reading stuff on the net always comes in second to getting info from people like you.
@Hannigan174 thanks for the honesty about the video. One plus side is though conversion is a pain I would do it. Another plus is I don't give a crap about high-res versions of stuff as long as its watchable. I have seen mixed things about youtube, but I would guess that there is a panel or rom that lets you watch it.
On the Music front its mostly audiobooks I listen to right now so the fact that it will those more than decently is very good.
@Hungry81 Right now I am using the w580i walkman phone. I don't know how the X1's loudspeaker would compare to the 580's....? Its not the end of the world if its not quite as good though.
And I am always thinking about waiting for the new and better thing....
But my 580 is REALLY showing its age and the x1 is very enticing.
But this does lead me to something else thats been nagging me.....
Rogers also carries the HTC Dream and the Magic. Would either of those compare to the X1?
I know they are completely different animals being WinMo and android but I am OCD about getting the best phone I can.
I wish rogers carried the Hero though, to me the Hero blows the Dream and Magic out of the water.
Anyways opinions on the X1 Vs the 2 HTC's would be appreciated. And thanks again for all the info you guys have already given me.
High Res screen on the X1, and all my Windows Mobile goodies. I would stick with X1.
Now if you like the Android interface, perhaps the Dream would be nice. I really like having a hardware keyboard so the Magic wouldn't be an option for me.
There is a lot more stuff for WinMo right now, and realistically this site makes any WinMo device more appealing than any other smartphone OS. As evidence you should look at the X2 software thread and how quickly they broke down that prototype and extracted all the goodies from it.
I got nothing against Android, and perhaps in a few years when it is more mature I might even migrate to Android. There are even Android development forums here, but the many WVGA apps and resources make the X1 the choice for me.
Keep in mind that what is best is very subjective, and the reasons for me liking my X1 might not outweigh benefits of another device for you.
In summation I chose X1 because:
X1 - More apps, hardware keyboard, WVGA resolution (pretty pretty screen )

[Q] How do you rate your Incredible S?

I'm in the market for a new phone and I was on the brink of getting an Incredible S but I then stumbled across a lot of pages of people reporting reception problems which make the phone unusable. However, I'm always wary of pages dedicated to reporting problems as you get only problems reported and very few people reporting the good aspects.
So what I'd like to know is whether any Incredible S users out there have reception problems such as dropped calls, lost SMS, messages arriving days late etc? These are the things that I'm seeing people reporting but I don't know quite how prolific these issues really are.
Thanks in advance.

this phone, for me, has been absolute perfection (no issues). not that the phone is perfect (almost is), but it really is a perfect match for my expectations/needs/wants AT THIS TIME (i'm sure my needs/wants will change in a few months). and you are going to hear a lot of different opinions because everybody has different needs/wants. also, everyone is on different carriers and setups. there are just too many variables.
again, imo, this phone suits me perfect at the moment and there are no issues for me.
I appreciate that there will be differing opinions about peoples expectations but hopefuly everyones expectations about how a phone should work as far as basic phone functionality shouldn't be too far apart - I imagine most people will want it to have reception when in known good reception areas without having to resort to bizarre hand contortions.
Things like camera and media playback are far more down to individual perception and as such I'm not overly interested in the majority of online reviews as they tend to deal mainly with the bells and whistles whereas I'm interested in the basic bread and butter functions which seem to be increasingly overlooked by phone reviewers.
i absolutely agree. a far as basic functions go, i haven't had any issues that i can think of. it just works. but again, that could be specific to my setup and carrier.
Best phone I've ever had by far..

The IncS has exceeded my expectations. I bought an unlocked Canadian Bell Mobile model on eBay and I am using in on AT&T network here in US. I have not had any reception issues, dropped calls or experienced delays in SMS messages.
no issues, and so far the best fit phone for my needs. 4.0" display is just right for some1 to hold the phone and get the best of both worlds feel. and no reception issues or whatsoever. just the sms delay and call delay problem but that is rom problem. just make sure u get the froyo one then you're pretty much good to go

completely agree. had a 4.3" phone but felt just a bit too big/clumsy.
This phone is awesome, dont have any problems with missing calls or sms. Only negative aspect for me is 4.0 display, it`s a bit big for me, next phone would be 3.7 or 3.5.

a great phone, also he dive into a bucket with water and survive it
Phones amazing. Never experienced an issue and never needed to run a process that my phone couldn't handle. However using the stock ROM I did experience lag and slowdown yet after installing a custom ROM I've never experienced lag.
Just as others have said (although another voice could only convince you more ), I have had no problems with this phone. Does everything I need it to do, and does it very well!
Officially recommended by System92
With cm7 I feel like the phone is waiting for me, and I'm the one lagging lol
Best Android phone I've had so far, with excellent battery life on moderate usage (more than 2 days), screen is absolutely amazing, no lag so far, the stock Rom 2.3 is a bit dinky but that's ok as well. Bluetooth is absolutely great, I can actually connect and make phone calls with my car kit, with the phone in my pocket. Audio quality is great as well, the camera video recording is not what I was expecting, but I believe it's software thing...

OK, thanks for all the reassuring replies. I've just placed my order for the phone so it should be with me in a day or so. I'm guessing it will be newer stock though and that it won't be rootable at this point but as long as it is able to send and receive calls/SMS then I'm happy to wait and see if an unlock solution crops up.

[Q] More of enquiry actually

I'm planning to come to 4X section. I'm from Sensation XE.
Is there any comments about this phone for me? I checked sites like gsmarena that this phone is actually quite on par with Nexus 4.(apart from official Android support).
And I heard from the salesperson that this device is quite faulty by itself, but I need to make sure if its Hardware or Software.
Audio wise, loudspeaker is just for ringtone and notification and its good enough. Altho I use HTC I dont use beats, I rely on CM DSP Manager, so I think its good enough right?
Call reboots, sudden softbrick or stuff like these, any comments?
(PS: I will root every bloody Android I see in sight, even if its the first purchase day, so if Devs here are great(although not much I looked) I'm more than happy coming here, and in time maybe build my own rom.
1.5 quad core(I'd most likely underclock till 1.0)
1GB Ram
16gb rom.
Should be able to last for a year or so dont you think?
Do leave a reply and your opinion. PM-ing me if you have more sensitive opinion, I'm open. (I'm not going to Nexus 4 because it lacks expansion memory slot, as all Nexus devices are)

[Q] Should I get this phone as an upgrade?

Sorry if threads like this are not allowed or if I'm posting in the wrong section...
I need some opinions here. I am coming from a Galaxy Wonder and I would like an upgrade. Have currently earmarked this device on top of my wishlist. I would like to know if this phone's tech is able to last around 2-3 years.
I'm particularly concerned about the 1 GB RAM this phone has. Is 1 GB enough?
Thanks in advance guys.

1GB is more than enough in most phones, I've never had RAM management problems with this one.
However, my answer is a big NO.
Let me elaborate;
>Battery life
With proper greenifying, wakelock detecting, and no more than 2% per 12h of battery discharge, it has a decent battery life, but it seems the screen and the tegra 3 chip draw a lot of power from it. An extended battery does fix that though, but don't expect more than 3h of screentime on a normal usage day and 60-70% brightness, on a normal battery.
>Stock ROM
Looks great, feels great, kernel is easily updated (if you got the bootloader unlocked, flash another one), and then works great too. This phone, in my opinion is meant to be the LG Optimus G's younger brother. I've tried a lot of custom roms, but stock is the one that takes it away from me, after properly kdz flashed (without the bloat apps and stuff).
>Heating issues
10 mins of playing, well, pretty much anything that's 3D makes the phone really hot, no thermal throttling though, but don't expect this phone to last if you play an hour of gaming or more. Even Subway Surf kills the battery.
>Tegra 3 incompatibility/unoptimized apps
Most games are made with Adreno in mind, needless to say, Adreno is not better than the T3, just has more optimizations done for it. Also some apps aren't available via the Play Store on this phone, but that can vary depending on your region.
In my opinion, I'd always go with an SGS3, even with stock touch wiz and bloat, because
a) it gets proper software updates, unlike LG and all of their devices, not just the 4X HD.
b) better modding support/community
c) apparently heats up a lot less and lasts a lot more, that also means given its support there's bound to be more extended batteries, cases, stands, cradles, docks, and equipment for it.
The only thing the 4X HD has going for it is the price, I've paid 180e for it, and it was a huge step up from an even worse phone than yours (Samsung Galaxy Mini, s5570), but so far, I'm not a happy camper.
And the screen has a dead pixel on it, which irks me a lot.
Oh and apparently someone took the KDZ repository on that one site down. Dunno what the deal with that is too.

Thanks in advance guys.

i would buy it, since it has good specs, and with custom roms you will have support for quite some time in future, i hope
1 GB of ram for me is enough, i don't play games on it, and after greenify hibernates apps, i got around 400 - 450 mb free, rom is latest vanir rom 4.3.1. dated 26.10.2013., and i am also using killjoy script
phone works really good, only little problem is with baseband_xmm_power wakelock, but devs are working on that and slow but surely this problem is getting reduced
camera is good for taking pictures, at least for me
i would only like that lock key is on the right side, current position is little awkward, but you get used to it
that's it from me
Thanks for the replies guys.
Hmm.... really now debating which to get 4X HD or S3 really a tough decision. I would want the 4X HD as I'm just a little bored of Samsung, but the S3 looks like will get better dev support. Its hard.
More replies please.
Its showing its age, esp since its an lg device. Wait for nexus 5?

Would love to have one, but they're pretty expensive for me.
After some 'extensive' research, I have finally found the Xperia ZR. Maybe I might get it once the price drops (next year perhaps). Had earlier found the Optimus G to my liking, but I just dislike the glass back and front . Well, both have CM support which is a good thing for me

Do not buy this phone. I repeat DO NOT!
Battery life sucks, and it gets hot. It is a fricking smart frying pan. Seriously you can cook an egg on it. And it lags oh boy it lags like hell.
A good phone shouldn't need this much optimization to work better. I tried every CM, kernel etc but either you get good battery life and ****ty gaming performance or you get good performance and horrible battery life (like 2-3 hours max).
Get Optimus G or S3 but don't get this.

If you can get it for a good price and are willing to root and customize it, it's probably the best bang for a buck you can get at the moment.
The IPS screen is simply gorgeous. It's even more pleasing to the eye than my HTC One LCD screen if you ask me my honest opinion. Yes, it tends to drain the battery heavily, but with the right configuration you can get over 3 and even 4 hours of screen time easily. Oh, and I can't seem to get any scratches on it. Impressive since I don't use a case or any kind of screen protection and carry it around in my pocket all day. Only downside: fingerprints!
I like it's design and build quality. Even though it's all plastic, it neither feels nor looks (too) cheap. More important: all the buttons are in the right place for me. The ridged back provides some extra grip and looks quite OK (from a distance ) and so does the fake metal finish on the sides. It has to be the best fake metal in the business because it's still intact after dropping on my bathroom floor twice.
My biggest issue with this phone (besides being ignored by LG) has to be the sound quality. The silly speaker on the back is nearly useless when the phone is laying down. Picking it up doesn't improve anything.
I can't really comment on this phone's gaming capabilities. I don't really use my phone for that, sorry.
The only alternative I would consider in your position would be the Nexus 4. You should be able to pick it up for a fair price once Google releases the Nexus 5.

The main reason I went for this device was due to price. If price wouldn't matter, then the Galaxy S3 is a better device IMHO. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my device, but since I am using custom ROM's to have JB 4.2.2 there are some things you need to accept if you use custom ROM's (LG has not had the decency to release a JB 4.2.2 ROM
1- Camera: 3rd party cameras using flash and auto focus have issues on custom ROM's not based on stock.
2- BT can be temperamental if you are on custom ROM's
3- The f****** wakelocks that just came out of nowhere on my device are driving me nuts and killing my battery
4- Gaming is a mixed bag depending on the game.
5- External storage can be problematic if for example you are on a custom ROM and try to sync 2000+ songs (17GB's) with Media Monkey.
6- Audio: This really pisses me off... I listen A LOT to music on my devices, and I use different types of good headphones like AKG 450's or some Senheissers PX-200's and the audio chipset on this thing is pathetic, read the review about it on PhonesArena. Even more frustrating is the fact that with the AKG 450's, every time I connect the headphones, the line gets a permanent noise that was not there before. I tested the headphones extensively to make sure they were no broken, and they are fine on all other type of devices except my P880.
On a positive side, it is smooth on most of the ROM's I tried, I like how it looks, it's quite sturdy, GPS works like a charm (after a few tweaks of course); the speaker is ok, the camera when it works is ok; the community is good; the specs are good; All the good ROM's and stuff is relatively recent since it took a while for the bootloader to unlocked and not that many devs were on board. It looks way better than the SGS3 which BTW also have a TON of issues, which is why I went for the P880. Overall, the issues I listed will be sorted by the great devs that have this device, but LG is not doing itself any favours by not releasing updates more often.
So, yes, I do love it, but I will definitely update in less than 2 years to another device. No more LG for me, thank you very much until they learn to support their devices or I would just get a Nexus device.

I suggest you read all of the posts, make a nandroid backup and test. The one I ended installing was the agps.patch.google.build.nossl.v3.1 as suggested in the tread, and it did improve the GPS performance of my device.

lol this is disaster mine is just fine. the real disadvantage of this phone is only the low bitrate and framerate of the camera , but thats just how the lg made it. we cant change the hardware. besides that my phone works fine
So you are saying that:
- 3rd party cameras with autofocus and flash are working fine using a custom ROM as in CM based ROM? Which one please? so I can try it.
- No wakelocks at all? What kernel are you using and how do you use your phone? Gaming?, Internet (WIFI/3G) on all the time? FB/Tweeter/G+ on with auto updates all the time?
- Connecting to a car's BT to stream music works ALL the time?
- You can syncronize more than 10GB's in one go to the external microSD with no issues ALL the time?
You must be using either a stock ROM or one based on a stock ROM.
I also am thinking about buying this phone...
I own a Desire HD and i think that it would be a huge upgrade anyways.
The battery is not a problem i think:
1)U can root and install custom roms and it would be better as almost every phone
2)It's removable so you can always get a extended one
What i would like to ask you and have your opinion guys is it would be a bit wiser to get the L9 II instead of this one
