[Q] How to check which model works for which carrier - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi right now im saving money for the Xperia z but, really need to know about cell phone frequency. Im trying to pick one for T-mobile in Los angeles, and having trouble which model would work on T-mobile 4g network. If someone can explain how to check which frequency will work on which network it would be really helpful.

Does the s730 work in Japan?

I am leaving in a couple of days on a business trip to Japan and was hoping someone here would know if my HTC s730 will work. I have T-mobile USA, and my s730 Rev.A that is unlocked and unmodified.
The specs on the box *look right*, but I wanna double check before I leave. thanks for any information anyone has.

Edge should work just fine, not positive on 3g. You will get charged roaming fee's and such unless you get a pay for minute's sim for over there.
HTC S730 in japan is named "X03HT"
so...
They have their version of it yes, but did they change it internally... The base frequencies should be the same for edge / gsm, but the 3g I dont know which frequencies their carriers use.

[Q] How to find my baseband?

Hi guys, I have a bit of a dilemma. I bought my Milestone secondhand from a guy who had it imported before they were officially sold here in Thailand. I can't get a hold of him but I *assume* it's a Canadian model, as it has a QWERTY keyboard. I'd like to make sure I have the correct baseband on the phone, so that I may be able to get 3G by using a different carrier with a compatible frequency (3G is a big mess here, legal battles between the government and carriers, so each major carrier essentially has its own frequency).
So, how can I be sure which 3G system my phone was designed for?

Search in page baseband or Thailand.
But this is basically if you dont have signal, 3g I think it work through apn.
Same things with 3g licences over here so that is nothing unusual about this.

Install ROM, pick a baseband, configure APN. If you can't get a stable connection, then you have the wrong baseband. Try a different frequency set (europe, canada). If 3G never works, then your phone freq are not compatible with your current carrier.
Switch sim/carrier and try again

@etimago, you can check your baseband type in settings/about phone. What does it say there? Then we can see which one you've got.

[Q] Flashing a 6906 to a 6916 for wifi calling feature

Hey Guys!
I bought a Sony Z1 last year (6906) Canada boot loader locked to use on T-mobiles USA LTE network and everything worked great, only issue was I lost my Wi-Fi calling feature on the new model as it was not directly from T-Mobile and really liked the feature.
I see that T-Mobile released an almost identical version (6916), only I think has more memory and less bands available.
I tried to pull the wifi .apk file off my original android phone to see if I could make it work, and would not install assuming brand specific of permissions related.
so, wanted to pick the forums brain and see if any one out there has done this, take the firmware for a T-mobile branded 6916 model ( I believe current version is 14.2.C.0.159, until new kit kat release comes out if and when of course ) and put it on the 6906 model so the wifi calling feature can work.
Bands look to be there, and 911 # is registered so hoping this could work, unless of course someone had a reliable work around for the Wi-Fi calling ?
Please excuse my noobness, new to Z1 forum so any and all help greatly appreciated
Thanks for any help in advance!

Z3C D5833, unlocking LTE bands ?

Hello to you all,
I am very concerned because I bought a Z3 Compact D5833 (i'm in Brazil for work) and will be back soon to France. The LTE bands are different in the two locations, that's why Europe has the D5803 version. I was hoping that someone else also ran into this problem and found a solution? Returning the phone is impossible for me now because I've been using it for quite long here
My provider in France is Free which has 2600Mhz in common with my model.... does someone know whether or not it can work? I read online about people who couldn't get their phone to have 4G, even some people didn't have any internet. But that makes no sense because all 3G bands are supported so I'm feeling lost... I am not enjoying the wait until my return and I'd like to know what I should expect there. A massive thanks for all help :good:
7 (2600) should work.
Take a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269
and this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/guide-unlock-z3c-international-bands-t3091344
But, I haven't seen anyone with Z3 or Z3C successfully unlocking the bands here at XDA.
They went through the procedure and it showed the bands as unlocked, but nobody could actually use them.

Thanks! I will keep all of this of the side, and let everyone know how the phone performs when back in France... Let's see...
Hey, soooo it's a no, it doesn't take 4G. 3G and H+ work like a charm and I'm keeping that phone because I love it so if anyone finds a way to actually get other frequencies to work, i'm interested. Thanks!
I now have LTE in France with a D5833. I don't know if it's me or the network that changed. My provider is Free. It's been a month I had only 3G and H+, it's been a week I had problems, and today, boom, LTE after restarting my phone... I am trying to figure out what changed. I'm sure other people have problems in France with the D5833 so I'll work out what was the cause!

SM-G973U slow Data Speed

Hi Guys
I have a Snapdragon Galaxy S10 SM-G973U that I bought as a refurbished device in Switzerland. I think it is an ATT Unlocked phone. Phone calls and Text Messages work flawlessly on a Swiss Carrier, but I have never had an OTA Update and the Dataspeed of LTE is always at around 0.2Mbps download. Does anyone know why it is that slow and what I can do to resolve this? I'm really in love with the S10 but the dataspeed is quite annoying.
I hope anyone knows more than I do because i'm curious what's going on.
Thanks Guys
You're using a USA phone on a non-US carrier. My guess is that you're not really connected to LTE on the ideal frequencies, so you're only getting 3G support. You'll have to look into whether the frequencies used by your carrier match up with those of the ATT ROM on the phone. And then make sure those frequencies are actually being used...
I often use https://www.frequencycheck.com/ as a first check to see if the phone works on the carrier...
Thanks a lot for your quick reply. I have tried my SIM-Card in another phone and had the same slow data speed so I'm quite sure it's not the phone but my data plan. I am going to see if I can change my data plan to resolve it. It's a bit embarassing for me because I found the problem like 30 minutes after posting the question here. But still a huge thanks to you @schwinn8 for taking your time for my problems!
Thanks
If the other phone was US also, it still could be this issue... but, yes, a plan could restrict it as well, of course.
The other phone was a swiss Iphone
