Hi everyone,
The last few days I've been trying to revive my friends Galaxy S i9000.
He brought it to me when his screen all of a sudden wouldn't work anymore. All that it puts out are faint green, pixelated lines.
At first I thought it to be a crashed ROM or something, so I hooked it up to Odin and started flashing.
Two days later I've been through a whole lot of ROM's, ranging from stock Froyo's to custom ROM's with SpeedKernel I run on my own (still working ) Galaxy S.
All to no avail. The last ROM I flashed is the stock Samsung Gingerbread one, and I can hear the phone booting with the startup sound and all, even hear the keytones when I go over the touchscreen.
But still... the screen is either black, or when I wait a while after booting, looks like the image attached to this post.
I'm starting to think this is a hardware problem. I have already opened up the case but can't see anything wrong, all the connectors and ribbon cables attached to 'em look just fine.
Any suggestions or should I just get a replacement SAMOLED from eBay?
Any help is much appreciated, thanks!
this mofo is dead as hell...
Haha yeah I guess... but it still functions as a phone, with the startup sounds and all, vibrate also works, it's just the screen that's not functioning like it should...
The problem seems to be with the screen, get it checked by any local mobile repairer if it isnt under warranty !
ok call me a noob call me anything but please do help me out.. Was running ICS XXLPY on my samsung Note N7000 ofcourse with problems such as frequent restarts, over heating and etc etc.. Till i found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354888 (no i do not blame the author or the developer of the thread/process.. but only myself) namely method to remove the yellow traingle with the 'jig' .. And that is the part i missed completly.. put into download mode and did the complete the process (atleast i thought i had completed) with pc odin. Till i read the 7th line to connect the jig.. and thats where i just did not have do not have.. anyways i removed the battery waited a few seconds and tried restrting .. but got a black screen and could only hear the sound ofcouse touch was responsive as well but black screen.. Took out the battery again and tried to put into whatever mode it would go while toggling/playing with the volume up/down power and menu buttons 3-4 times but nothing.. It still does get on though with a black screen.. can accept calls talk.. but all on a black screen.. touch is responsive .. my bluetooth headset is.. but the screen is black.. Any help shall be much appreciated
Were you able to find a solution to this problem?
I am asking because even i have the irritating yellow triangle, but i know that the method to remove it is risky so i am not doing it as of now. So i am curious if you were able to manage to salvage your phone?
Thanks
For the record, you can use TriangleAway by Chainfire to remove the yellow triangle. I mean, make sure you're kernel/rom support it, but if it is stock ones than it should. I'm not sure about the new CM9/CM10 ones.
First of all, let me ask you a question, do you really have a usb jig?
If you don't have one, then why did you gone to that route of that link (how to remove yellow triangle.. with a JIG) if you don't have one in the first place? kinda stupid following that link when you don't' even have a usb jig at all.
Also, why on earth would you resolve your frequent restarts and heating problems by that link? (How to remove yellow triangle thru a USB JIG)? how does that really resolve your issue? I'm quite amazed your phone still has things working (BT , touch is responsive you say?), MAN, you totally GOOF UP! Your solution is entirely NOT the answer to your initial issues and you made it more aggravating to the fact that you followed a wrong solution!.
That's not even the answer to your problem!! Geez! Dumb as it can be but surely you need to search first the right solution to your problem before you apply one right?
My advice to you is, buy a USB JIG... try to see if you can bootup your screen using it. And by the way.. POST Your questions first before you do something okay??? ask first then do it.. not the other way around!!
tsk!

Right, I have a problem with phone since I got it back from T-Mobile, the screen often goes very dark and I have to "bend" the phone to make it visible. After some searching I found that this is likely a backlight problem, unfortunately the method I used to mark it work previously has become less effective.
Does anyone have a diagram of the aces internals and where the backlight is, I don't want to mess with the wrong thing.
I don't think I can take it to the T-Mobile store again, as it doesn't run the stock tmobile firmware anymore. I have a cam backup of it in com
Uter but it's rooted and stuff.
It's not always happen, but usually. After making calls, my screen is like flashing with black color (it's like losing connection with the screen). As i notice, longer the call i make, the stronger it'll flash, it's like the black flash area is larger than the fine area. Locking screen and restarting won't help, but it stop by itself slower and slower until all the area is fine. I don't know what it is. It's hard to tell and I don't have other device to record (i can post to all of u when I borrow my friend's phone to record if u guys want). It happens since I use first firmware, Amber and now Black.
If anyone ever face this problem pls tell me. And I hope it's not gonna kill my phone in the future, because I'm going to hold this phone for very long until i get a brand new one ( u know, money...). Sorry for my English, not my native.
So I'm curious, my screen is cracked and I'm pending a replacement and I was wondering if replacing the whole display is absolutely necessary, it was dropping from a whopping 8 inches and got a nice cracked corner , well when it came to it it made me upset but I went back to playing cod mobile , but then I turned off the display , and turned it back on later and realized my screen was discolored and wacky which I would assume points to a bad amoled ? Is that correct , it still works after a reboot but I don't want to keep the display on 24/7 due to. Burn in / batterlife issues etc I was wondering if it is possible to find some kind of software trickery through rooting perhaps or idk , my question is what causes it to work perfectly fine after booted and then go wacky when turning the screen off and back on
Seeing as the display panel itself is probably heavily damaged. There is nothing software can do to help rectify this issue for you.
I'm not looking to fix it with software moreso I was asking what causes the display to work perfectly fine until I turn the screen off and back on , and if there's a way around that like perhaps refreshing the system ui or some kind of quicker restart I can do with root or perhaps someway of just keeping the screen full black and turning the screen off without actually turning it off, I'm sure there's a few way to lessen the issues crap before I order the screen, I mean it's just a small crack in the bottom right corner

youd be surprised how often that happens. Go to sammobile.com/firmwares and download the latest firmware for your phone and flash it in Odin. Use the HOME_CSC to avoid factory resetting the device and see if that helps (probably wont) but at least you wont have to set it back up to check. It will be fairly instant gratification. If that doesnt work, flash the CSC, which WILL factory reset it. If that doesnt work, bad display

Replacing the whole display is not necessary no.. HOWEVER, it's much much easier to just replace the entire screen because most people don't have the correct tools to remove just the glass and even if they did it's still terribly hard to do perfectly! If the colors are not permanently messed up and rebooting seems to fix it then it's likely that if you update the phone it'll correct this issue but it's not guaranteed because the screen is cracked and the problem could be from the crack itself.
