NFC won't activate - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I go to activate it, it just ticks then quickly unticks
I'm rooted so would this make any difference?

Did you apply the NC fix? Needed after you rooted the device.

May similar threads to yours already. Please try reading them first.
And if you actually read Doomlords thread on how to root, you would see the nfc fix.
Try reading and comprehending before posting.

I would obviously root. Then the first thing after that would be to unlock the bootloader.

I'm probably going to try out stock Android for a while without any tweaks to be honest. I have never done stock android or a Nexus device before so I'll see how that sits with me. After that I expect the on-screen buttons will likely be tweaked somehow since I'm not used to them. Then I'll be waiting for my unicorn swagger with AOKP.
Unlock the bootloader since that erases everything on the device. Then, show my gf how my Android phone blows away her iP5. It's Ok, she's used to it.

I was actually wondering the same thing. I just read a thing over on AndroidCentral on how to unlock the bootloader, and they said to do it before you set up your phone because it wipes all the data. What are the advantages of unlocking it? I've only had a phone where you need to run an app to root it, and another to install a recovery and flash a ROM. I still know how to use adb and such, but I've never needed to use a bootloader.
Tapatalk² from my Optimus V
Underclock the hell out of the device or disable 1 or 2 cores if possible.
What app allows the guy in the video to use those keys? I've seen a couple apps similar but they weren't as polished.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Unlocking the bootloader allows for custom recoveries to be installed, otherwise it will be locked and that means that any programs you have that try to install a custom recovery will fail. I also think that you need the custom recovery to root the device and so you need to unlock for root too. To be completely honest there are no negative side effects (apart from your data being stolen if your phone is lost) and so I would always recommend unlocking the bootloader asap, I've had a few friends want to run CM10 on their Gnexus and I had to tell them that they'd be wiping everything including the internal storage.
I know I'll be unlocking before I turn the phone on for the first time.

[Q] MSM8960 on my Xperia T?!!

Hi everyone
I recently purchased an Xperia T unlocked and while looking in the build.prop I noticed something weird, the proc showed up as MSM8960! As I was unsure because I had already messed around with my phone, I decided to do a system repair through pc companion to set my phone back to base. I then used android system info to recheck and sure enough, the proc still shows MSM8960. Am I dreaming or isn't the processor supposed to be a MSM8260-A.
Please enlighten me, have Sony updated things on later Xperia T's or is it just wishful thinking on my behalf.
Mine says the same, I don't know if it's supposed to be like this, it probably just doesn't specify this exactly for some reason.

Going to ask sony now:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/461839#461839
Perhaps a software problem but if not it would be weird!!
Well, at least I'm not the only one. If someone who owns the T since October did the same tests we'd be basically fixed...
I own my xt since November and it say's the same...

Ok thanks for the feedback. It's still a bit strange. I wonder what Sony will say, if anything, in the thread that was opened on their site.
Mine is manufactured in early March 2013 and it also says MSM8960.
Same on mine. But it's the same right? Only LTE is the difference.

Yep, it is technically
Right to clarify this:
The chip set in the T is the 8260A. However for software purposes it is so similar to the 8960 that it may as well have been named that. Every reference you will find will be to 8960 - technically in CAF 8260A doesn't even exist. This is why you find the baseband saying 8960.
Sony's answer:
Correct chip set is MSM8960.
The white paper is going to be corrected accordingly.

Yes real write it in the search all forums box again it's called viper4android and it's a sound mod believe me look it up and let me know.one
It sounded great on my evo 3d before upgrading to this. But would rather not mess with the audio of a phone that's already supposed to have great audio - don't wanna blow a speaker or anything.
And thanks for caps lock, it was so much easier to read and got me super excited.

Sent from my HTCONE using Xparent Blue Tapatalk 2
It's simply the best mod out there with a ton of customization. It's not one of those other mods that you just flash and it sounds however the developer likes it to sound. You're in control and you have different settings for headphones, speakers, and Bluetooth with the option of having multiple profiles if you use different hardware. For example, you may want to have different setting for your car's stereo instead of using what you have set for your headphones or other things. If you want the most out of your music then I highly recommend it.... It's even coming to windows.

I have had the same problem, but it doesn't happen every time. I have assumed it is an issue with the proximity sensor, but I'm not sure.

The only option I can think for you is to do a factory reset.
There's an option within S-Voice that does that, might be what you're looking for.
Open up S-Voice and hit menu > settings > auto enable speakerphone
Just a guess.

There's a glitch with the chrome browser that causes that to happen. If you use Chrome you need to get the latest update and see if it clears up.

Yeah, I saw there was another thread in the Gear 2 forums (they should probably combine them!). They said the same thing about it being international or something. I read one post saying they installed it with Odin, not sure if that was true but I will just hold off installing it.

Ditto... somehow no one has posted anything about what this build has to offer. I find that sort of strange.
I honestly haven't noticed anything much. I did notice that the occasional artifacts left behind by a previous screen when scrolling through my apps seem to have stopped. Other than that no visible changes to me.

Personally I'm hoping the pedometer learns to count steps and the heart rate sensor to stop jumping from 70 to 140 in a few seconds.
