Installing Applications - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey folks, I have a problem with my KFHD7,
I previously installed Archos Video Player on my Kinology ROM, and it went well. Then, I uninstalled it for some reason, and now I can't install it again. The installation would interrupt and it would fail. Any ideas? Thanks!

If you used lucky patcher, then try cleaning it up. (On options I think). Its a known issue with it

I don't use Lucky Patcher. Any other ideas?

Problem with root apps

Hi,
I have an OB with stock rom 10e and Quasar Kernel. The rom is rooted and everything works fine, but I have one problem though:
At first launch all the root apps work fine (I grant superuser permissions and such), but when I try to start the app again (e.g. Root Explorer) the app just gets stuck in the opening process. This happens with different root apps. The only solution is to kill the app and clear the app's data via the settings menu. Then it works again.
Anybody has a clue?
Hum... can you try to clear cache and data of Superuser app, launch it and click ok about the features and then launch apps using root (of course it will ask again for permission) ?
I'm not sure it will resolve your problem but... well I'm trying something. ^^

That seemed to fix it. Will see, if the problem returns. Thanks!
Did you update SuperUser app and su file?
Problem persists. I rooted the phone using the blackjack.exe from UPK package. Superuser is version 3.0.7, I don't know about the binary though. Should I just reinstall superuser?

Arf too bad. :/
What is the version of your su executable ?

The binary was outdatet (was 3.0.0) and I updated it via the superuser app. Seems better now. I will wait and see. Thanks for your help!

[Q] help, can't install apks after flashing to ics

I came from stock gb rom flashed a stock ics firmware using pc odin. Now i can't install apks anymore using astro file manager or even the stock file manager. The install button doesn't function. Ive already ticked the install from anonymous sources but still no go. What went wrong? Help.
Get on a safe kernel and try wiping cache, dalvik, and data. (Franco, speedmod, or CM9)
Do NOT wipe data on stock ICS!
Is that the only workaround? Im a little bit worried about bricking my device with all the horror stories here.
Downloading and installing apps thru google play works fine. However when i try installing apps using astro, all my downloaded apps won't install, the install button doesn't respond.

I don't know what Astro is....so I'm not sure what else to tell you.

Have you tried installing apps from Amazon app store?
Not yet, i only tried installing from google play, only my previous downloaded apps wont install using a filemanager. when i press the install button nothing happens.About flashing a safe kernel, how do we go about it?
I had similar problem it was caused by Screen Filter app.

I also have screen filter app installed, did you uninstall yours?
Wow!! Removing the screen filter app did the trick! Thanks a lot man!
Same Problem !!
I had the same problem, now solved after removing the screen filter app.
This is just a guess - maybe the old apks are not compatible with ics maybe they are outdated and would only install on gb.

[Q] Kindle is upgrading message on bootup, post root.

Hi ,
i have rooted my FIRE HD 7 successfully and installed all the google apps etc, but i am now getting a "Kindle is upgrading "message on bootup. i was wondering if the file in the kindle/internal strorage/ kindleupdates was correct, the file is NOMEDIA 0 ( zero data ) I would appreciate any advice on this.
keep up the good work. , many thanks.
If you in the boot and it says that it's updating it's upgrading your system. if it says that in the main system it's upgrading the devices other apps to work with it let it work it's job.

thanks for the reply`s, i tried to figure it out but i could only fx it by using the KFFirst aid, . i think it was something to do with installing the goog;e framework or play , i never tried any launchers. anyway it is working just fine.

Chrome fc since latest update

After updating chrome a few minutes ago I can't start it anymore, it immediately force closes. I deleted appdata and rebooted the phone but I got the same result. Does anybody have the same or is it my phone?

I had the exact same thing this morning. After deleting cache and app data did not solve the problem, I uninstalled updates, and let the Play store update it again. Now it works fine.

Messed up my HD+ Please help!

So I was running CM 10.1.3 just fine, had no issues at all with the marketplace or anywhere else and decided to try stock root, well after installing stock root I decided i hated it and wanted to go back to 10.1.3, so I wiped the nook and installed CM 10.1.3 and gapps, but whenever I go to the playstore, several apps I had no issues with before will not download because it says they are incompatible with my device. Tried to reinstall twice more with the same result.. Not sure whats causing this issue or how to fix it. Any advice would be welcome.
What apps are you having issues with?

Are you using the latest play store? You have a couple options here. You can install a modded play store that will allow you to install any app. You can install xposed framework and download the all Google Apps module which will allow you to install any app.

What did you format before returning to 10.3.1? I would do /data, /cache and a manual /system wipe.
