Hi folks,
Could you point me to some "how to" for working exchange mod (ignore policy) for HTC One (M7) please ? I can see some exchange mod implemented in TrickDroid, but i'm using Revolution HD and don't want to leave it.
Or is any chance Revolution HD tean would implement it too ?
I just want to ignore device lock code forced by our exchange policy as it is driving me crazy. I'm using application lock in AVG for certain applications like email, texts, phone and so on.
Many thanks for any advice.

Pull their Mail.apk and use it, that is where the exchange mod is.

Thank you for quick answer. I didn't think about it. I will try to search forum and figure out how to do that.

Ok, pulled out Mail.apk from Trickdroid. Any idea how to install it ? When I try to do that standard way, it says it is system app and won't install Or do I have to copy it into Revolution HD, repack and reflash ?
Thank you.

Is there a ROM available which does not have HTC Sense, and has only Native Clean Andriod in it..
There's no Generic Android rom atm. I'm also waiting + hoping for one.
What about Nexus One ROM? I really digg the UI
If you pay for a premium MoDaCo account, you can cook a MoDaCo rom without Sense UI
I no longer care for Sense. It's great when you have a current Android version, but it creates a big lag-time between new Android release and new HTC rom release.
I wish I had gotten the Nexus One instead.....

I feel you mate. I had the same thought. Looking at how slow HTC were in bringing 2.1 to the Hero, I have a bad premonition that the same gonna happen to the Legend.
And I really like the UI/UX on the Nexus One. Any custom ROM that has Nexus One app launcher, photo app, etc.?
Well I've searched and there's only a few (3 that I could found) custom roms available now, all with Sense. I decided for myself to give it another 2 wks and then, if there's still no clean Android rom, I'm selling my Legend and getting Milestone. And no more HTC phones for me as they only make them with Sense now.

not Full... you get a lot FCs if you cook a rom without Sense
There is a rom available on Modaco without sense.. Espresso
It works very smooth and looks great!
This is the link
Edit: No, there still is Sense.. Just with extras.
if you hate it so much, why don't you disable it...
well it isn't quite disabling but it will work fine...go to settings application management and find htc sense and click "remove defaults" or so....next time you hit the home button you will be prompted to use sense or android home...if you want to keep the android home, simply hit "make default" in the same window that pops out when you press the home button

Like you said it's not quite a disabling. All HTC custom apps are still there. I want default Android Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Messages applications

How about you disable it, and the abd into your phone and delete HTC sense and all the sense widgets and apps?
That may work?

Don't think so Michael. I'm prepared to be corrected but I don't think default android apps wiill appear upon deleting HTC custom apps.
I did try to remove the HTCSenseLockScreen.apk and it did not give me the default google lockscreen... it was really strange... the lockscreen did work like the sense one where you drag it down, but no background on it and the text was messed up...
Right now i am playing with the Sense from the MyTouch and that look great...

Yeah they won't, but i would be willing to cook a rom containing the factory legend rom rooted, and with no HTC apps but stock android apps, if someone would be willing to test this method?
i am willing to test... if you want i have the system from the vodafon 2.02.178.2 build.. well it is in the 2.2 tread on modaco from some china dude.. i mean why not use the latest bug fixes also for the rom if it should be..

It's not about hating SENSE, it's about wanting the stock Android because of updates, ie. a better phone. SENSE is great, when it's paired with the latest Android. But when it's used with an older than current version, it creates lag time.
I am going to sell my Legend and get an Nexus One. It's older, but it's still betterish than anything else out there.

I did it this way, deleted allmost every HTC stuff. But if you remove a HTC-app, it will not give you the default android one. You have to get these apps from somewhere. I just thought about creating a rom without that htc stuff.
But i have to say that not every htc app is crap. Some apps are better than the android one.
Have you tried removing Rosie?
Any problems afterwards?
I have made a sense free (ish) Rom, there is still some slight differences like the black bar on top.
But it still beta, i will upload it tonight or tomorrow
EDIT :
Deffo tomorrow, i am too tired to keep working

There is another entire thread dedicated to flashing the OTA radio file. It's an entire process, especially if you are rooted already. You have to unroot to do it.
would it be possible to get the 3g ap hotspot so I could install it? It actually works quite well.
so... as with every other 2.2 rom i've tried, i'm getting the same problem with this one.
my contacts sync, but they don't show up in the "people" app. they appear in the phone app, but not the actual people app.
can anyone help?
Im trying this now. What do people think of it so far. I was very please with pmf's work when using his 1.1.
"Call To Answer" Screen is still HTC
Just flashed this ROM. I must say, it is very fast and responsive. Great work!
I have one concern:
The lockscreen is Android 2.2 vanilla. However, the "slide to answer" screen is still the HTC screen. When testing, the screen was off. As soon as the call came in and the screen turned off, I saw the vanilla lock screen flash for a second (I believe it was the stock unlock screen, not the stock "slide to answer" screen) and then it was replaced with the HTC slide to answer screen.
Is anyone else having this experience?

Please add support to ROM Manager! I love being able to install straight to my phone while bored at work!
I don't think the facebook sync is working correctly, the full list did not appear. this stuff is getting annoying because I really love this rom so far.

Thanks. Yeah this is because the phone answer lock screen is controlled by the HtcPhone.apk, which is used in this ROM.

I haven't had issues with it, other than the first sync can take a while to show up. I find that firing up FriendStream can sometimes force it to sync.
Hi everyone,
I've tried connecting to the stock IM in the Aria but it keeps crashing on me ('Force close' kept coming up).
I've installed Fring now and would like to uninstall IM to free up every little space I can but it doesn't have the Uninstall option when I go to 'Manage Applications'. Instead, there's a 'clear data' button…
• Why does IM crash all the time? It doesn't even let me login at all.
• How do I uninstall IM?
• What other good alternatives do you have besides Fring if I only want access to Yahoo Messenger and MSN? Facebook IM is a plus but not essential.
Thank you!
Are you rooted?
If you are, you can manually remove the APK, and then adb uninstall the package.
What stock IM app are you talking about removing?
Also, eBuddy handles all those IM clients, including Facebook.

htc IM. it does aim/msn and yahoo.
Hi,
Yes you're right, I meant the HTC IM.
And yes, my Aria is rooted (I bought it already rooted, so I missed out on the learning curve of rooting). More of a do-it-yourself and learning on the job person.
How do I manually remove the APK? And what is adb? I searched in the XDA wiki but couldn't find those acronyms.
My apologies for being a bother. Hopefully I'll be able to be of use here to other newbies in the near future.
Thanks again!

This thread has all the details on how to remove unwanted stock apps once you are rooted.
ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge - it is a command line interface and you get it can download and install Android SDK from here.
Good luck,
Thanks capsin! I'll be learning to do those as I get more familiar with the Android and basic stuffs
Hi
Excuse me. I'm new to all this. Just wondering if someone can help me or at least point me in the right direction.
I rooted my Droid and install CM7. with chevyno1 kernel. i like it and everything runs smooth. Except, I don't like the email app and the phone app that are in CM7. and don't like any of the ones in the market. the best apps I liked are the HTC evo stock email and phone apps.
I extracted them from my brother's evo but now how can I install them on my Droid CM7? is there a way to do that? or has anyone done that before?
I googled the net for hours but can't find an answer!
thank you.
HTC apps are proprietary. As in, they are made for HTC phones. I doubt it can be ported, and if it can, its probably infringes on patents or copyrights or something like that.

Thank you.
so can anyone at least point me to a rom that has similar features of the HTC's phone and email apps.
for example on the phone app:
- ability to search a name by typing part of the name on the num. key pad.
& on the email app:
- ability to search emails in the inbox.
- ability to sort emails.
- ability to MOVE emails to other folder.
again, I don't want to download and install crap from the market. because i tried alot of them but none can completely solve the issue and provide what im looking for . plus they add a load on the droid. I want a native built-in ROM app.
thanks for any help.
Hi. My wife is a new HTC One owner....and is having a hard time.
She wants to use the native email app...as its good with using more then one gmail account...but it wont scale down to fit the screen. Is driving her batty. Is there a setting she is missing. I know the gmail app does that perfectly but isnt good with more then one account (or is it with the new update????)
Please someone....help

This frustrates me as well. While it does auto scale text emails it doesn't work on images. I've done quite a bit of searching and found no solutions for the stock mail app. And no, there are presently no settings you're missing. However the solution is coming; 4.2.2 has an option for this which will hopefully translate to sense 5
Best you can do for now is switch to a different app or rotate the phone.

My solution so far is a mixed bag.
Ive tried just putting my three gmail accounts in gmail and forgetting the native mail client. It solved the scale problem perfectly....but it doesnt have an All inbox..and switching from one e-mail to another was a pain in the ars.
I then went to aqua mail.....and so far thats the one im using.
Can you please (please) tell me more about how the e-mail will change in 4.2.2? That sounds interesting....have you heard when its coming (to the states and at&t)?
Thanks

Hmm good to know, thanks, maybe I'll try that client!
Here's some who find 4.2.2 has helped them with this issue:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one-x/178937-converted-ios-frustrated-email.html
Now that I think more about this it could be that 4.2 specifically improves this for Gmail, while the manufacturer apps may not (like HTCs)... But I still maintain hope that the added option in 4.2 will translate into the other one too. But to answer your question specifically the change is just a toggle switch.
It seems kind of stupid that this is even an issue considering how basic it is...All because android doesn't seem to play nice with HTML in email apparently

Edit: oh and about when we get the OTA, soon... ish... Hopefully... a lot of Europe got it last week so others shouldn't be terribly far behind. Keep an eye on the HTC One mega thread here on XDA, it'll likely show up in there first when it hits other regions.
