Bit lazy arent you mate?
How about spending a few minutes skimming the HTC One pages and looking through some threads?
You would have found that there are the following issues that could occur if your unlucky or got an older batch:
Hiss during phone calls.
Spots while recording video or using camera.
Dead or Stuck pixels.
Slight overhang of the plastic side banding.
Tiny gap between the metal and the middle band (seriously tiny).
Those are the basic things to check, some have noted that initially there are no dead/stuck pixels but they appear after a week, also to find them check different brightness levels on solid black backgrounds.
Singular dead/stuck pixels are generally impossible to notice under normal usage unless your head is pressed to the screen with a solid background and your trying to find it.

Thanks for your reply, I knew only about the gap and the overhang plastic, about the rest I couldn't find anything.
I got burned by this kind of faults with my hox, don't want it to happen again.
Thanks for your reply

Tbh the consensus is quite good compared to the initial batches of the One X. Majority of people don't have these defects or don't notice them at all meaning they aren't really worth calling defects. The few that do are people who are very particular about their device and only blocks of dead pixels will cause an issue on such a high PPI phone.
Can guarantee if this was more of an issue this phone would not be getting 5/5 customer ratings on Carphones Warehouse and Phones4U.

Htc One build quality

Hello,
Been following this thread for a couple months now, almost bought the xz, but seeing both took their sweet time to launch and one's finally available...
So just returned from a mall, seen it in 2 stores, live.
It looks really nice just as pictured by everybody in these forums. The screen looks amazing, very sharp, cannot compare to anything else. Sound thru loudspeakers best I heard in a phone.
However..
The built quality seemed to lack.. Alot.
The metal parts didn't seem to be aligned properly to the point where visually they were protruding out; the corners felt rugged, especially where the metal will stick out. There were minor gaps, albeit too visible on both models.
Now, surely I have heard about these possible issues. Wasn't too worried before as consider myself less picky about things in general. But after seeing the store model, I am a little worried. I know I get to bring it back if not happy my question is how the store demo version compares to the actual thing? Aren't the demo units supposed to be better, at least in build quality? One thing I am sure of, will carefully inspect it in store.
As an aside, all my phones past 10 years bought online: I wouldn't take the same chance with one whatever return policy.

I had a few issues with build quality on my first few handsets , rough edges etc and then on my last one (which didn't suffer from the capptive button problem) I decided to just take care of the rough edges myself and used a bit of 2000 wet and dry sand paper on the polished edges and white band, now have a perfect handset

Wow, hard to believe that! In any case I don't think I would do it.
Just went to similar other threads mostly concerned with stuck or dead pixels.
Will bite the bullet tomorrow and will try to inspect it in store, hope for the perfect one..

Pixel issues are going to increase as pixel density has more than doubled over the last few years. No way around it. We also need to remember that it is in no way HTC fault and that every single phone manufacturer has similar failure rates.
From what a fair few people on here have said, the most recent builds are fixing these issues.
I myself have a model with very minor build quality issues but it's not enough to make me want to get a replacement or switch to another phone.
The phones so good that these minor issues can be overlooked, by me at least.

Same here. Very minor issues here too. The headphone input (and sim tray) looks to be deburred by hand (and a bad job at that, I got a scalpel to mine to clean it up)
But other than that I'm happy.

No joke, I used a bit of 2000 wet and dry just take some of the rough edges and what seemed like glue or something of the white band. It now feels silky smooth .......then I put it in a case and don't feel it anyway lol!
My ocd is moving to new extremes I think lol

Got my One today and it's perfect or very near..
Checked a little bit on the issues I seen or heard of before, mechanically it's almost perfect, alignment and all, no dead or stuck pixels, call quality seems alright, sound recording and playback.
The only issue if I may say so, on maximum volume there's a bit of distortion on loudspeakers.
I will get to play more with it this weekend, can hardly wait, but so far it seems like a nice replacement for my sgs2.

Yeah I'm usually not very anal about those kinds of things but I must admit that the headphone jack is pretty bad. Like mine is halfway on the aluminum casing almost. It's not in the center of the plastic between the aluminum at all like the power button. Is this normal?

Yes headphone jack is in normal position.. my Inspire was like that as well. Not aesthetically pleasing, but am sure it has to do with placement of items inside the phone.

What about the part where if you move the notification bar down you can feel the screen is not flush with the phone. Like the screen is risen. On the bottom there is no issue. Is this a common "problem"?

I got that too, but decided it doesn't bother me that much. However I am going to exchange it for another with better power button, mine is way too recessed.

Mushy/recessed power button

Is a mushy/recessed power button normal? I can still press it but it feels as if one side is mushed down and the other barely protrudes from the body. I asked a Sprint rep online and they said thats how its supposed to be but I doubt it.
Also, If I received it after ordering it online (Sprint website) will I be able to return it in any sprint brick and mortar store and receive a new one?
I also have a slight overhang and slight gap.

I don't really know TBH, it feels quite good despite that it's recessed a bit, I don't know if eventually it will be unpressable, hope it won't.

Weird mine is slightly raised. Not much but just ever so much. It also has a great tactile feel like the iphone 5 volume bottons a nice little click can even be heard when I press it.
I got 3rd HTC one from p4u UK but power button is almost same in all three but second one got slightly improved, 1st htc one got visible gap on top, 2nd one got very negligible and less gap but rough plastic side surface and and misaligned usb port but visible white stuck pixel and 3rd one is almost no gap any side but this time SIM ejector slotis not flushed bit raised and sadely one very microscopic stuck pixel again which is only visible mostly in pixel testing app or in black background with microscopic eyes, I'm really fade up now with HTC, I never go beyond 2nd replacement in my entire life but thinking to keep this one as it's not perfect but less worse among three and now I have no patience or courage left and yes 1st and 2nd one was Made in Taiwan and this one is Made in China but this one is 99% ok gapwise or I can say that there is no gap, another thing worth to mention that camera quality is worse or same worse in 1st and 2nd and one as whenever I tried to shot fast moving object from fast running tube subject was always blurred but this time I shot same thing and surprisingly no blur at all from fast moving tube and device serial start from SH34DW

This is my 2nd One. Returned the first due to slight chips on one edge which looks like it was damage caused in the manufacturing process. Anyway, I digress....
On this One my power button sticks out by a good chunk. About a mm in truth. I made a comment to my girlfriend that it feels like it is raised considerably more than the first One I owned.
The girl in the 3 store made the comment that she will get me, and I quote "one of the new phones that have just come in." Whether this was just the usual talk used by all sales reps or genuine I don't know, but this phone seems better made in a few places. No rough edges around headphone/usb sockets, no gap between top metal grill and plastic surround and better feeling power button.
Maybe my last phone was a particularly bad handset, but if this One is a newer batch it seems that HTC have really sorted the early problems

Im glad I got mine from UK O2 then seems I dont have any of these issues. Obly problem is that it cane with no charger.
Maybe network providers have more quality control ?

Top of screen raised

I received my Developer Edition HTC One last Thursday and immediately noticed that the top of the screen is not flush with the speaker, but the bottom is. I have compared mine to two different store models, one of which was just like mine. The one that was "flush" was still kind of noticeable. I was wondering how common of an issue this is. If it is a common issue I probably wont even bothering RMAing it and risking getting the same issue + more issues with the exchange.
Sorry, I knew I saw threads about this but couldn't find them. Here is what I am currently looking at, sorry for the new thread

See my edit, it might help you.
It's a common build quality issue. There are very few HTC Ones that are completely flush at the top and bottom. Almost all have some raise, or some lowered. Others have gaps between the screen and the casing.
You can try to pursue a perfect one... or simply find one whose defects you find acceptable. I managed to find one that was nearly perfectly flush and gapless.

Nexus 4 - Pattern on screen

Hey, I have read many threads but none explained if this is an issue or what. I found that someone call this digitizer, but digitizer is normally a lot different. Only thread with picture was on Android Central (I added is as extension. my own picture would look the same). The position matches position where digitizer is normally, but it has just weird pattern. Thanks for answer

i myself never understood this. even my display looks same when off. and my frds say why your phone has so many boxes. And I tell them it's to store the pixels in standby mode.
Jokes apart, are all nexus screens like this? I've never seen any other phone to have such display
Mine has this too. It is the digitizer. Also read some threads that they RMA'd the device and got a new one. Bit too much hassle for something that I cant see when the screen is on.

Completely normal. Carry on.
My first N4 didn't have this, but after doing an RMA the replacement did. They may have started using a different digitizer or something. Another interesting thing is that my replacement device doesn't seem to have much of an oleophobic coating either.

On older nexus phones (without nipples on the back) dont have digitizer visible. On models with nipples and onwards its visible like hell. No idea why, different implementation or.. Conspiracy

Its visible but not that much and other digitizers consist of dots not patterns like this
Thanks for your addins. It seems its normal for Nexus 4, but no other phone I saw out there doesn't have it. Its not that big deal as stripes on screen (AMOLED) I had on my previous phone.

I can see both, the dots and this pattern on my device (on strong sunlight).
Only time I can see mine is if I lock the screen and angle it under light... even then its hard to tell...
Same here-i just received my Nexus 4 3 days ago and I immediately noticed the pattern( I used to have the Galaxy Nexus). It is most visible at sunlight in an angle with the screen off. I figured it was normal...I understand now that almost everyone has it...
My first N4 had no visible screen pattern, although in daylight I could see the dot matrix, wasn't a big deal though. However, I recently RMA'd due to a vaulty earpiece and my new N4 has the same pattern in the OP. Very annoying, visible when the phone's off but can also be seen, on occasion, when the phone's on. I don't know if my OCD will last much longer...I'm fighting the urge to RMA again.

[Q] Anyone else have v0004 hardware?

Just got my HTC one (blue best buy version) and aside from the top of the screen being a hairs width higher than the top speaker grill, it seems perfect. No camera issues (pitch black laid on a table), no apparent gaps in the plastic surround, and no other defects I can find. Anyone else care to sound off with hardware version and any defects you have?

I was almost positive there was a 0003 but I could be wrong.
0004, Mine is from launch
0004 and the only complaint is thecamera. That was against my hand so its purple but at night, especially outside, it is a very noticeable blue. Plus the very noticeable "blocks" are pretty disappointing. I also have a problem with most pictures coming out blurry, has a small focus area that is clear and everything else seems faded.

4... I have the red one. No camera issues and everything fits like a glove.
Well seems like there's probably only the 0004. So much for my theory that maybe that had anything to do with anything. I wish there was (or maybe there is) a way to see more detailed build date information. Maybe that would shed some light on things.
Got mine about three weeks ago.

Not to discredit your complaints. They're real issues. But are you sure the focus issue isn't related to depth of field? It's especially exaggerated on the f/2.0 aperture of our camera. But there are others too that confirmed it's a real defect, almost like the glass is out of place in the lens.

Have 0004 and have a very tiny gap, screen isn't flush with the grill, but not by a lot and my camera has the annoying blue and purple colors in darkness but I'm not complaining. 4.3 is supposed to fix the camera issue so we'll see what happens.

I have 0004, and I don't have any camera problems. I do have the bottom-speaker-louder-than-top-speaker issue, though. I've also noticed that the bottom right of my screen is slightly warped inward, because the plastic on the bottom-right of the device tapers its width down slightly. But that hasn't caused me any problems.
I do have some of those aluminum-plastic gaps that some have complained about, but those don't really bother me. I keep the device in a case most of the time, anyways.
Every other little flaw (lackluster graphics performance, popping sound when WiFi is enabled), I feel, is the fault of software, which will ideally be corrected, if US carriers ever give us non-rooters 4.3.
Got mine on launch day and it's been perfect! No rough edges, no gaps (at least from what my naked eye can see), no sound or connectivity issues. My experience had been excellent. This device will encourage me to keep buying and supporting HTC devices in the future. Attached a pic of my camera held up to my palm. No odd coloring at all.

My purple issue is very bad, am also on 0004. Took it to sprint, and I will be getting a replacement on Thursday, hopefully this one will be purple camera free

I've only seen 0004.
I was showing my friend some of these pictures, and he said that it looks kinda like a pinched/damaged LVDS cable. With the way everything is packed so tight inside modern smartphones, and especially the One in particular, this sounded plausible to me. It does go against HTC's theory that it is a software issue, and I hope for the sake of those with issues it is just software. What do you guys think?
