I have a new RAZR i running the ICS firmware from Claro in Chile. Unfortunately they have not release a JB firmware yet. My question is if I can use the brazil JB firmware without any problems. Also if I do install it, will it be possible to go back to the Claro ICS firmware if there are any problems?

I was in your same position (Claro Chile too). I decided to unlock my bootloader and flash the retail.EU firmware, and then accept the JB OTA, and root it. But you should know, that downgrading back to ICS its a risk, and there's are high possibility that you hard brick your phone. If you want to keep your warranty, i would recommend you to wait for the official JB. If you want JB now, change your firm and don't look back.

yeah of course, you can unlock your booloader, then you can use the brazil version of jelly bean just do a back up of your rom before changing that way you can return to your system anytime you want.

I wonder how long I will have to wait for the official JB, this phone only just recently came out here in Chile.
If I hard brick my phone will the RSD Lite and the claro chile official firmware be able to fix it? Or am I just screwed?

My bootloader is already unlocked, and I have made a fastboot backup of the system the way it is now.
Does anyone know if there is a newer official firmware for Claro Chile? The one I found on the internet is an older version than what it says in my cellphone.
My phone has
871.111.20004.XT890.AmericaMovil,en.CL
The version I found has:
871.110

If you hard brick it, its dead for good. There's a tool that can bring it back to life, but people says that it only works once, and you can't accept OTA's anymore.

Well if that's the case I need to be sure I actually want to go to JB. How stable is it? Are there any problems? Is it any better or worse than ICS?

I love JB, Google Now is pretty useful, and Project Butter it's awesome. Maybe you could get less battery performance, but it's still good. Only thing, the "Warning: Bootloader Unlocked" message on boot will appear every time you power up the phone. Overall, JB works pretty well.

Ok, so pretty everyone here has heard of the supposedly upcoming jellybean update as well as an incoming bootloader unlock for euro open O4Xs. I bought this phone unlocked from amazon. Bottom line- it has a Taiwan branded stock rom on it. Does anyone think there'll possibly be a chance I will have my bootloader unlocked too or should I just not get my hopes up?
Anyone?

I'm about to move to Australia and wanted to unlock my Samsung S3 LTE, which is currently locked to EE. I've looked at doing it via the network, who charge about £20 and also on Ebay, who don't seem to support my phone. Is there a way of unlocking it?
The phone is running Android 4.3 and hasn't been rooted or customised in any way.

Stop saying crap. You can downgrade if you didn't install a stock 4.3.

Hi,Pianoman91,you can unlock your device method downgrade- flashing firmware 4.1.1 from this forum:http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=738977
You need previously root your device, install a custom recovery and then flash firmware 4.1.1. Then use the hidden menu. This must to work! Before you must to make all backups.
Once done, you can flash again 4.3 frmware. You have to be aware that this proces will change Knox status from 0X0 to 0X1. This method is tested and works.Make on your own risk.
Thanks a develloper fzeta !
Best regards!

Need to explain that is not downgrade to Bootloader 4.3/KNOX/-this is impossible for the moment. This way we make downgrade to firmware 4.3-4.1.1.:good:

As mentioned, using this does trigger the Knox counter- but if that doesn't bother you then it's worth doing this method to unlock your phone. After I'd used Odin to go back to 4.1 and unlocked the networks I just reconnected the phone to Kies and it then updated the firmware back to 4.3. Tried a Vodafone Sim card in my phone today to make sure it was unlocked and it worked perfectly.

We are talking about two different methods,Pianoman91.I think if you try flash oficial firmware from 4.3/official/ to 4.1.1 trough Odin you will not be able to do it.Downgrade to bootloader 4.3 it is impossible in this time. But if we apply the method I mentioned should work .You should flashing trough Custom recovery a firmware modified.
Best regards!

OMG! It seems we're gonna have many problems with this firmware version. Yesterday, after flashing the new 4.4.4 via Odin, I wanted to reinstall it for twice, and PC Odin brings me FAILED in step SetupConnection. Then, I tried to do a Downgrade to 4.3, getting the same error. I don't know what's happening but I don't wanna be stuck in this firmware forever!
Please, can anyone lend a hand?
most probably we won't be able to downgrade as it was 4.3->4.1, so we can't 4.4->4.3 due to some bootloader changes
I think you'd have to wait until 4.4.4 for non-N model is released as odin package

of course I don't know how risky it could be with new bootloader, but keeping in mind that people downgraded from 4.3 to 4.1 using mobile odin (no bootloader change) it could be worth trying

wanam xposed can fake the system status, but I don't know if it'd work in this particular case
anyway, full odin package for 4.4 non-N appeared, so no need to tamper at 4.3 DBT just to be able to update anymore http://live.samsung-updates.com/details/34084/Galaxy_S_3_LTE/GT-I9305/DBT/I9305XXUFNI3.html

Hi i cant find an update for my htc one. My provider is claro Puerto Rico and i am not rooted. I am running stock android 4.3....
If you don't have a developer edition, it may take a while to get to you with potential carrier modifications and staggered updating in mind.
I wanted to stay stock but right now my only option is to root and unlocking the bootloader. The phone is an art version. What is your recomendation?
htcdev.com will work well for bootloader unlock, and if you're not planning on moving to GPE, s-off isn't necessary.
I'd say unlock your boot loader and get a custom recovery on your phone and then flash an updated sense ROM if your wanting to stick with sense.
Ok thanx ill be doing that because i cannot think of a reason for staying on jellybean when android 5.0 is almost out

Good luck, and be sure to read up on what you're doing. When you do this your warranty will be void so it's important to do it properly.
Hi all,
I know it's a known issue on Android. But my question is another.
I've a Moto Maxx from Brasil with locked bootloader. Is there anyway for me to maybe downgrade and afterwars upgrade again ?
I don't know if this can help with my problem, but maybe worth the risk. My battery is not lasting one day with normal use.
There's a way, but you need to unlock the bootloader.
You'll be re-flashing all of Kitkat EXCEPT for gpt.bin. (That part cannot be downgraded.) You will then have KitKat back. You can also then upgrade back to Lollipop.
But if you mess up the flash, you can brick your phone if the bootloader is not unlocked.
IF your bootloader is UNLOCKED, then you just go back into recovery and re-flash again. Everything can be fixed if your bootloader is unlocked. If you try flashing with a locked bootloader, it's much harder to fix mistakes, if they can be fixed at all.
Go here and read. Be sure to thank @Jaocagomez for writing the tutorial...
