Hello!
I have noticed that the Google Play store does not allow you to install Google Wallet on a Motorola RAZR i. However, would it work if we installed an APK of it on the handset and more importantly, would NFC payment actually work?
Thanks,
Orange

Google unveiled its eBook Store today and launched an Android app as part of the process. I'd love to try it, but can't find the APK file to load it on my CN. Can any of you provide a link. Thanks.
Its on the market, and its free. A simple ADB pull and push will do the trick..

Thanks. My only Android device is my rooted NC, so the Android Market won't work for me. Or am I missing something?
The only problem with the books app is it asks for your account when you open the app. I was able to get around it by installing it to my droid first and then restoring the apk and data with titanium. Still not synced to my account but i can search fine so far. Haven't tried downloading any books from it just yet.
EDIT: I couldn't manage to download or read any books on my nc.
Here ya go!
I installed but it doesn't work. Need to have a google account attach to it. I haven't figure out how to do that yet.
Figures. The NC hasn't been getting along with anything associated with google. That's been the case for me at least.
There is an app called WordPlayer that can access all the free books from Google Books.
Also, I tried a free book on it (I'm outside the USA) and it worked alright in the non-rooted web browser as well. Icons a bit small, not very responsive, but it works.
You can still get books from Google and sideload them onto the Nook. We all happen to have a pretty nice reader built into our devices.

I want to say we can DL the books as Epub and then open in the nook app? Based on the app/NC not being tied to the Goog cloud yet, i'll stick to my sideloaded books from the Gutenberg Project site.
Adobe Digital Edition will handle the epub books, yes.

I used this last night: just went to google.com/books with the NC browser.. then when you find one you like theres a link to read on you device.

Any particular reason for using EPE54B when the nook claims to be ERD79?
Yes, EPE54B is newer, but the ERD79 might be more compatible. Or alternately EPE76 which would be the newest (pre-froyo) release?
The great thing about living in Canada is that services always seem to be slow in getting here. One of those services, which I'd really like to have on my new tablet, is Google Books!
I've managed to find a copy of the APK, but it's a phone version. I'm posting here in the hopes that someone might be able to provide a copy of the Honeycomb APK, since it's far better optimized for the tablet screen.
If anyone has this it would be much appreciated!

Thanks, but for some reason it can not be installed. I guess it's only for US region
Indeed! I'm similarly getting the "application not installed error".
I wonder if this is, as gewa mentions, a regional restriction? I'd be surprised as the other versions of Google Books work perfectly on my Xoom, Nexus One and Nexus S.

I've been tryng the same thing from Canada with no luck. Frustrating.
App in the drop box link works for me just fine, live in Europe but have the USA wifi version of Xoom. The only thing is that I had to uninstall the mobile version of google books before I could use this one.
Only problem is that I can only get free books currently...
bwcorvus, thanks for the app
I'm fine if I can only access free books.
Anyone have an apk that I can use to do a straight install? I'm having difficulty unpacking the zip on my Xoom.

Can anyone re-upload the dropbox version? I have a UK Xoom so no Books on there at present, would be good to get the tablet version on there.
I did the nuke-it-and-make-it-usable upgrade. This is my first, so please forgive me if I don't use the correct terminology. I used FlashFire and uploaded SlimRom, SuperSu, and mini-gapps. It seems most of the apps I try to install says its not compatible with my device. Some apps I know are supposed to be there, don't show up in a search. Also, it kinda leans like it's a phone instead of a tablet. This may be normal, not sure there. Someone smarter than me, feel free to chime in. Am I doing something wrong, or did I miss a step? I used the tool from RootJunky. They gave this forum a lot of props and said you guys are the go-to peeps. I believe I got my files from the mirrors here. Amazon Fire 7", 5.1.1, Thanks in advance...
You pretty much would have to install the APK for each app that you cannot download from the Google Play store, part of the reasoning behind this is because Amazon Fire isn't officially supported by the Google Play Store, thus some apps will be unistallable via the app store.
You can download the APKs here: https://apkpure.com/app?hl=en
All the APKs should work. Just one thing to note would be that in the future, you'd have to reinstall the APK whenever a new update arrives for your app.
Best of luck!

So, in the background its still an Amazon Fire? I guess I just assumed by doing the new ROM, it would get rid of everything Amazon. That's what I get for assuming . Thanks!!
Great question and thanks for the answer. This may not be related to the "505 error" but I noticed with apps like "Open Camera" that it says the device is not compatible, and now I know why!

I have since used apkpure and so far all the apps I have searched for has installed and worked pretty much like their supposed to. Thanks again!
Yeah, I had the same problem, particularly with "Google Play." Sadly, my local news channel app is not available there, but a lot of other apps I was having problems with were.
I need to get an inexpensive tablet to use specifically for work email only. I need to be able to install Citrix Worx on it, and I can not root it or MDM/Worx won't work on it.
I see that it worked on 2015 models... but if I go to Best Buy today to buy one, will I be able to get the app store and framework on the tablet? Is there an OS version it will or won't work on; and which OS's can be downgraded (and is it possible without root to downgrade)?
Or am I better getting some cheap chinese tablet..
OR.. Could I flash this on any new Fire Tab? I'm assuming it doesn't root..

You should be good to go, as far as I'm aware the play store 'mod' will work with all current fireos versions on this tablet. I have personally installed it at least six times on tabs for friends and family without a hitch. The latest being only last week.

One other small thing, if you need more than one Google account on the tablet, simply grab Gmail from the play store and do it through the app (I forgot about doing it that way the other week).

Good call.. Thank you!
Just purchased my Mi Mix Pro, but noticed on an XDA thread there is one supplier who ships the phone with Google Play Store pre-installed. I did not order from this supplier, so was wondering if I will encounter any difficulties/conflicts installing the play store apk myself. Longtime flasher, but not sure if the phone will be able to be rooted right away, so I'm hoping it's no more involved than installing an apk from unknown source. Has anyone done this with any other Chinese branded phone?
Don´t Worry.
Don´t Worry luckily we have the Goole Installer.apk for MIUI . Just download , copy to phone and install .

I have had two Xiaomis (plus some iPhone Chinese knock offs) and installing Google Play is straight forward as it sounds: grab the apk, install it manually, good to go. I had some problems with the GPS in the first Xiaomi I bought, like 3 year ago, but it was an old MIUI build and it finally got it working by just rooting and replacing the GPS data to global, about 5 minutes time.
So, don't worry.

Just download this google installer apk, install it, and let this apps working.
You can also install from Xiaomi's own store straight from the phone which always works better with all the frameworks. Just search for google installer.
