I've got the t-mobile 4g Dell Streak 7. I used nvflash to go from 2.2 to 3.2 using the Streakdroid R2 file...and then I turn it on and it goes to this white screen. This is a link to the ROM:
http://www.tabletroms.com/forums/ho...[r2]-honeystreak-hd7-2-0-release-2-3-2-a.html
I've done 3 dell streaks before...this is the only time this has happened to me. I can not get into recovery, and I can not get into fastboot. I have full battery life on this still luckily. Tried searching, but seems no one has a solution...currently downloading CM10.1 beta to see if I nvflash that maybe I can bring it back to life. Also can anyone point me to the nvflash files for 2.2? All I can find are dead links. Thanks for any help that I can get.
Have tried nvflash for 2.2 and cm10.1 and same results. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I've figured it out....it seems to be a GPU or screen issue. After I let it sit on the white screen for a while it boots into the system, still a white screen though. I can also get it into recovery and fastboot blindly with similar results...I did a factory reset blind and it did not help. I think this unit's just screwed overall. If anyone has any advice for me I'd sincerely appreciate it. Thanks.

okay im getting completely frantic right now, i tried to flash the newest cognition ROM from stock 2.1 rooted from recover and it all loaded fine but i kept getting force closes com.android.phone or something and then i was like okay ill just restore my last backup and did that but now it wont boot past the at&t world phone screen and i cant get into recovery. ive read other threads about this but theyre all different situations so i wanted help for my specific situation. i love all the devs help and hard work on this site and i hope my phone is not bricked because ive only had it for about 2 weeks. so please a fast response would be appreciated, i would like to have my phone fixed by tonight thanks in advance guys oh and also i am able to get into download mode i just dont know what that does.
no one knows?
nevermind everyone i got it using odin
Just reflash use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818439 or you can search for odin one click by DG.
Odin. You will be fine. Just search and read. Be careful what you do and try your best to understand what you are doing before you panic.
You were getting fc on cog so instead of reading and re -flashing you panicked then flashed a 2. 1 back up over 2. 2 with voodoo lagfix active. :O it is not the end of the world. I do hope you have a PC and not a MAC. Odin will flash you back to stock but you will need to search and read. Good luck
Captivate
Cog 2.2
I think I'm in a similar boat... tried to flash back to JH7 after getting tired of froyo versions that I didn't like. Now I'm stuck at the AT&T screen and nothing works... no matter what button I hold while I power the phone on, I get nothing. Any advice?
Update: I think I may have something here... found a guide talking about JTAG stuff that suggested holding both volume buttons while plugging in the USB cable... seems to have gotten me to the "downloading..." screen. That's a plus.
Ok, my phone wouldn't boot past att screen, and when I went into recovery there weren't any files there. I had installed a htc theme from the market using panda home. I was on cog 5 beta 3. I figured it was corrupted, do I one click back to stock and when it goes to reset the phone it just dies. Odin said reset, but not that it was successful. I waited 20 min and nothing happens. now I can't get the phone to do anything, totally black. I tried adams unbrick, but nothing seems to work. This is not the first time I've been stuck, and I'm st a lost. Any help?

Did you use the odin with 3 button fix?
If a 301Kohm resistor between USB pins 4 and 5 does not turn it on into download mode, then you're hard bricked.
PM me and I'll unbrick it for free. I'd like to get some practice.
I had the same problem before on my phone. Completely black screen, but I was able to do this trick:
1.Pull battery, sim and memory
2. jack in USB
3. hold the vol up and down buttons with power
4. drop battery back in with the buttons still pressed.
Got me to the download screen to try to fix it. Had to change my usb cord also (had a slice in it)
Thanks adam. I was working all day and am going to try the resistor tonight, if that doesn't work I'll be sure to hit you up.

So I ran into this same problem with my new captivate. my older one the same thing happened but i was able to just usb, hold buttons, and put in battery and it put me in download. but now with this new cappy its just stuck black. cant get it to go in download.
I hear that. No prob with same program and lots of flashes, but it got me this time. Thats why I've been following adam and his methods of unbrick. Hes trying to make it sage for us

which one click did u use??
I'm hoping it was Designgears version - it might be old but I know that it works.
But try the whole jam the battery while holding the volume buttons trick - then try the resistor.
I know some folks have been selling the lil' pre-made jobs on the internet just to make it easier.
If all else fails - ask for an exchange unit at an AT&T store (because you did buy the $4.99 warranty - yes?)
Does odin recognize the phone, if you go through the proper steps to put in dl mode, even though the screen is black? Its possible you may not see the in dl mode, but odin will. Then you can flash to stock with odin. But do not, DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT USE THE OLD 3 BUTTON FIX.
I have been using dg's since I got the phone. Working on resistor now. Odin doesn't recognize at all. Att said its a software issue and I need to talk to samsung. Since the flash completed, it should have the 2.1 software on it now right?

Is there any way I could have someone walk me through this. With my cappy i can go in and out of flashing roms and going into download. But with my younger brothers i tried and its just stuck on a black screen. We might try going for a return but if I can save it and atleast get it to boot up exchanging it would be much smoother. Please any help will do.

The problem is that the old 3 button fix is an SBL without a PBL. That retard unleashed bricks upon us.
So you guys used the 3button fix? This caused the bricks? Just trying to clarify.

^^Flashing "3 button fix" is the most common cause of destruction of phones. "3 button fix" is a SBL without a matching PBL. You should never do that.
Pbl= primary bootloader
Sbl= secondary bootloader
They must match. If they don't, your phone won't work. Only way to save the phone is jtag (at this point in time). Adam is working on some stuff that may change that(btw, thanks Adam got your hard work on this subject).
I'm aware and grateful of Adams efforts to eliminate the need for jtag. I see no pbl in the log provided by Adam in his post relating to his brick phone. This makes me assume he flashed the 3 button. But I do see a boot.bin. I was under the impression this was a pbl.

boot.bin = IBL+PBL (Initial BootLoader + Primitive BootLoader)... However, the IBL is not written as a protection method on our phones.... It's not quite apparent why they lock the IBL. The IROM is locked and the IBL is locked. After that, the PBL can be changed.
Sbl.bin = secondary bootloader
On newer phones they've locked down the PBL and the SBL (Thank god). You can change the kernel which means you can run anything linux based.
So if someone were to add the proper boot.bin file to the old 3 button fix, it would stop the brick problem?
It should stop the bricks related to 3 button but there's no way to stop the old files from floating around. It looks like Adam flashed boot.bin with his odin run though I'm assuming it was the correct one so I don't think that is the culprit for this brick. I'm still trying to figure out why this happened to him and jferg. At this point I just think they had a bad connection and were very unlucky.

Folks, please need you help. I had my DS7 (rooted) perfectly working over the month until I powered it off last night and after I turned it on, it threw bunch of "force close" down messages for my services and stuck at "welcome to DS7, touch android to begin" initial set up screen with "change language" in the lower right corner. That's it! Cant move any further, reset button did not help too. Please advise if there is a way to recover from it.
Thank you in advance.

Last update: Called DELL yesterday. Spent 2 hours with technician, trying to recover DS7 (factory defaults and whatnot). No luck. The guy told me I should send my DS7 for repair.... I was not happy about it and after the call ended, just went and installed DJs ROM. Well... I'm back to the business now. Just need to figure out how could I roll back to original WiFi only ROM when Honecomb from Dell is ready.

Good Morning...I don't know if anyone may have the answer to this, but...I hacked my Streak and flashed DJSteve's Official HC ROM that comes in two parts....worked ok but contacts were a bit wonky. Tried to flash back to stock but never could find the right ROM that was at least flashable through DJSteves ColockworkMod its kinda blueish in color. So I wiped it, did a fresh restore through NVflash and reflashed the ROM. Now it is asking me for a Password at the lock screen. I didn't put in a password for the lock.....I tried to contact DJSteve, and I did reflash but I am still having the same issue. I tried a few other ROMS but they either wont load or they have the same lockscreen asking for password. The screen is a HC Lockscreen, when you unlock it you see the keyboard and a small green android dude that is split in the center by the enter password line......now I have tried password, admin, android, unlock, open.....nada......Anyone have this issue or know a way around it......Cheers!!
NVFlash back to stock.
Thank you for reply....I tried to do that but I cannot find the stock files for the original Dell Streak 7. I can't get the Fastboot side to work well, so I am kinda in a holding pattern I think.....Do you know where I can find the Stock RoM for Dell Streak 7? Dells site doesn't have it.....and TMOUS no longer supports....THanks again...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252840
If you just looked around, you probably could have found it.
I went there, tried that.....however I do not have WIFI only.....
Thanks to everyone who helped me.....after looking around and taking advice I got everything back to normal....was even able to update to HC. Now all I have to do is figureout how to root it without having to put CWM on it.....LOL
Thanks again Raven
I can not, no matter how many diffrent ways i try, flash a diffrent rom than ics beta 4 to my dell streak 7 T-mobile. i have had beta 4 for about 2-3 months and i love it, but it is missing camera, and gsm radios but i dont use the 4g, i fixed the sd card problem with it to. i cant even do a factory reset because when i hit erase all it just restarts the tablet. thats it. please help!
So what ROM are you trying to flash?
You may be in the infamous "read-only" mode.
I'm trying to flash Honeycomb but, i have tried a different version of the honeycomb, and the beta 3 ics, both of which i have had on my tablet before and know for sure, work. I'm not in the "infamous read only mode" because i can still turn on my tablet and play it.

So walk me through what happens?
You put it into APX mode to use NVFlash and then what?
GOT IT. i woke up this morning and tried nvflashing honeycomb again and it WORKED. i don't know why it was last night but it wasn't, ill tell you what was happening last night in case you run into some1 else with he same problem. i would put my streak7 into nvflash mode and rune the "Download file" and it would pop up the black screen with white letters, it would transfer like one thing then say in the text, "bootloader failed nverror 0x0" and just stop.
Well i am glad it worked for you.
