[Q] Is there a way to disable HTCLogo2Sleep ? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Is there a way of disabling HTCLogo2Sleep (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244620) , while keeping HTCLogo2Wake and HTCLogo2Menu?

There is no option just to flash HTC2Wake and HTC2Menu. Wanted to know if there was a way of disabling it via command line.

why would you want to do that? Can i take a wild guess?
your hitting the HTC2sleep button by accident when your using the keyboard? cause i had this issue lols.
i ended up swapping to the Home2wake and HTC2sleep(long). i just use ARHD's rom setting of long pressing back for the menu button.
Not sure if this is your issue but i already did it like twice and first time i thought i borked the rom lols.

Yep. Playing games or just holding it a bit too long when using as the menu key, off goes the screen. Another fix i guess would be too have a super long hold to turn off the screen (3 seconds).

youre getting the kernel from the old thread, new one is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255160
which allows:
- Stock (no wake, no menu, no sleep button)
- Home2Wake + HTCLogo2Menu (will give you long tap HTCLogo2Sleep)
- Home2Wake + HTCLogo2Sleep with long tap
- Home2Wake + HTCLogo2Sleep with short tap
- HTCLogo2Menu
- Home2Wake
- HTCLogo2Wake + HTCLogo2Sleep with long tap
- HTCLogo2Wake + HTCLogo2Sleep with short tap
- HTCLogo2Wake + HTCLogo2Menu (will give you long tap HTCLogo2Sleep)
- Sweep2Wake
- Sweep2Wake + HTCLogo2Sleep with long tap

I've tried that option infact that existed before this new kernel but it makes very little difference to the length you have to press to turn off the screen. I would just prefer it to be extemely long or not at all.

request that variant in the thread, either super long press or get rid of home2sleep

power button options

is there a way to add options when we long press the power button? optionto not only shutdown the phone but also reboot.
The CyanogenMod (CM7) ROM, does this. If you can live with that ROM (or any ROM based on that), I can highly recommend this one from wgspoelstra.
does it have the 64RAM hack (freeing up an extra 64 mb ram)
Yes, CM7 uses the vorkKernel which has this hack.
thanks! i have the WGSPOELSTRA on my phone, working great, i am on v.26, i haven't updated to the latest because i'm seeinig some negative feedback on the release
It would be great to use the volume buttons to unlock the screen.
Anyone knows if it could be plausible?
i can't find it again...i knew i found an option that does that... now i'm not sure if it's in the slick custom roms or the WGSPOELSTRA's

Whilst it is possible with stock it's a lot of framework edits. I took a look and hacked together a reboot proof of concept... you have to call an existing function and LG have obfuscated this function in their framework...

WidgetLocker supports this.

Brilliant. I love LG 2X but the power button at the top and volume buttons on the right are a big fail in my opinion. I might be too use to the layout on SGS.
Having said that I don't mind if there is a workaround and this for me is perfect. Thanks.

[Q] Sweep 2 wake issue

I have a small issue with S2W function. Im using my rooted IncS, s-unlock, Revolutionary, CWM, Sabsa Prime 8.5 with @Nonverbose kernel .7. I also have Trickster mod installed with S2W enables. When I swipe from home to search, voila, sure enough it wakes. But when I do the opposite to go into sleep mode, search to home, it will take a screen shot and not sleep. Has anybody else ran into this?
it's a known issue. s2w and screenshot feature conflicts. you need to disable screenshot to use that. need to add a parameter to build.prop, dont remember it though, search arnd on forum and you'll find it.

Appreciate the input. I like the screen shot feature so I will just use the s2w for just that, sweep to wake only.
add ro.htc.framework.screencapture=false to your build.prop
now, to take a screenshot, press power + vol-down at the same time for a second.
You could also not "sweep" all the war to the home button, or just above the actual keys.

I'm new to this game and editing scripts is a little advanced for me ... but always willing to learn. First, where to I find the build.prop and secondly how do I edit it?
Appreciate your input too as well

I tried the short sweep but still takes screen shot. However swiping just above the keys DOES work. Thanks again! :good:

[Q] Enable Software + Disable Hardware Buttons

So I have a general disdain for capacative buttons. I had planned to go into build.prop and add
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0

as well as go into /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl and comment out keys 158 and 172 (Back and Home respectively). This would disable the hardware buttons and enable software buttons. The problem is that every time I reboot, the system automatically restores the original versions of both files. Does anyone know how I could prevent this apparent safety function? It's proving far more of an annoyance than a benefit.

not until we have s-off. The emmc checks files against its last known configuration and discards any changes. Its been that way since the evo3d. its the same reason supercid wont stick also.
Well that's extremely disappointing. The buttons on here are driving me mad. Who thought it was a good idea to have the home button do three things not one of which is go directly to the homescreen? I was really hoping to get around them.
Any word on the S-Off progress?

One press goes to whatever page of the launcher was last in use(not always a Homescreen, most often app drawer)
Double press goes to multi-task
Long press goes to Google Now.
There is no "always go directly to the homescreen" action associated with the home button.

So now you have two very different functions tied to the same action for a total of four actions associated with the Home button, none of which is "go directly to the Homescreen". What you present here is "Go to last page used in the launcher, then go to the default homescreen."

[Q] CM10.2 Menu Button?

I just flashed cm10.2, and I noticed there's no option to have the htc logo work as a menu button like in 4.2
Is there any sort of fix for this?

i think it's there by default
Double tap the home button.
Or was it press and hold?
Either way, CM decided that the HTC logo button wasnt as good.
Expect the logo2menu to be implemented soon.

Press and hold gets you recent apps, double tap the menu. There is a settings item to change this but doesn't seem to have any effect currently.

Screenshot like in Asus?

When I use the KK Rom, I can only get the screenshot by using the Power Menu (Long press the power button while the power menu is configured to have a screenshot option). Anyone knows a way or any app I can install to capture a screenshot by long press the "Recent App" Soft key and get a screenshot saved like in the Asus stock ROM?

Thanks for the tip, I installed and tested it, the captured size of the screenshot is not exactly as it is by using the hardware key or the long press Recent Apps softkey.
Any other tips?

It works in JB version and on my phone with KK?

Yes, the power and volume key combination works, but for 2 reasons I don't like it.
1) too many presses on keys are no good for the hardware, and
2) the TF701 has both power and volume keys on the upper left hand and it is difficult for me to press both keys at once.
I think the best is still the long press Recent Apps soft button implemented by Asus.

You must take a lot of screen shots also I almost never push those buttons
Cant you just assign quicklaunch targets around the home button? works for me.

Please elaborate on this more, are you referring to add the screenshot choice to the power on/off hardware button?
Just use the power options screen shot functionality in kk.... It's in settings, developer settings somewhere. You push the power button and one of the options is a soft button to take a screen shot.
Or stop cheating
