Did anyone successfully get T-MobileWeb to work on the Tilt to get internet access? I am able to send/receive email but cannot get PIE to connect tot he internet. I've setup the usual T-Mo proxy setting but is there another proxy in PIE somewhere? Is it an issue with PIE connecting through a WAP port?
Thanks.

I think therefore I am.... confused!!!
you need to search forums for tilt tmobile, thats what i had to do..how are your MMS working out... i cant get mine to work after i changed my proxy to get the $5.99 hack... i am thinking i might have to get the data plan.. let me know if you get it working...
these are the settings i am using;
Under Modem,Edit, needs to be wap.voicestream.com
under Proxy the setting needs to be, see below;
This network connects to internet, network uses a proxy server to connect, box need to be checked.. 216.155.165.50, then under advance
216.155.165.50 port:8080
216.155.165.50 port:1901
216.155.165.50 port:1901 or 03 worked for me
sockets, need to be blank
guys, i was able to get both working, however, not on the stock at&t tilt rom. first to get the mms working, i just went to settings-connections-connection setup, and let it setup ur settings for tmobile usa. this will not allow your mms to work. now go to the connections and modify the settings for the 5.99 plan (i posted the exact settings a while back, search for it).. all u pretty much gotta do is add the proxy. good luck
omar
ps..if ur using the tilt rom, i never got the mms working, and wasnt able to access the internet on the 5.99 plan. on the 19.99 plan worked fine tho

i did try those settings...(that is what they are set to now) my internet has no problems, but my MMS does not... so i cant understand the prob!
I've tried all the settings provided by we3zy but still can't get it to work. In PIE, it kept on saying "opening..." and then came back with the following error:
Error 502 - Bad Request
The server could not resolve your request for url: /
Any thoughts?

OK, got it to work with accessing internet and email by adding a modem setting. However, I have to switch the two connections depending on which function I need.
Under Setting, Connections, Advanced button, Select Networks...I need to do the following:
In the Network Management screen I have a few choices but only the two settings in the top choice (Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using: ) need switching. When I click on to select the choices, I have setup one for accessing the internet and another to get email.
Is this normal or am I the only one that have this issue? Its kind of annoying to keep on switching the setting for the functions. Any way to combine the two connections or have the device auto choose and connect automatically?

I really can't explain why your getting that problem. But visit www.yahoo.com and then visit google.com again. I had that problem on the iphone, don't know why.
Make sure you've checked:
use software compression
use ip header compression.
and all ports are 9201
the settings above worked to get ny internet browser up i am currently on google with the original at&t rom now im gonna check my emails and weather plug ins

They are all checked. I changed all ports to 9201 even the http and now when i open pie it says
"You do not have access rights to this site

Also it adds "wsp://" in front of any link i type in the browser. Maybe you didnt mean change the http port to 9201 but i gave it a shot. are you guys and XXwindowsXX using the 5.99 deal? and it works?
email routing issue + cannot download TM's w/ pics
Hi All ~~
It sounds like I may have found the right msg board! I am a T-Mobile customer using an unlocked AT&T phone with the original ROM (minus the bloatware). I currently have three msging accounts on the Tilt: text msging, a hotmail account and a work email account (which I check via Outlook on my PC). I am having two annoying problems:
(1) I keep getting TMs saying that I have received an email on my work account; however I cannot (a) get the text msg notifications to turn off, nor (b) get the emails to actually pull down into the account. So: I know I have a work email (even who from), but cannot read it. Any thoughts on how to resolve either or both of these issues?
(2) I cannot receive or send pic text msgs. Really annoying; I am curious to see how other T-Mobile Tilt users have their settings arranged for this.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide ~~ Kim
TYTN/Hermes settings?
These settings in post four, would they be the same for the HTC TYTN/Hermes as well? After going into cnections, I notice that there isn't anything called connection settings. Just add new modem conection, proxy settings etc. I'd really like to be able to get this T-Zones up and running on my Hermes as well.
Thanks,

Yes, it should be. You'll need to add a new modem connection and edit the proxy settings. PM me if you can't get it to work and I'll try to help you.
Tilt Solution To Force Http Instead Of Wsp On Tmobile
Our good friends at ATT have two cab files in the \windows folder which install and remove a hidden proxy. By default, it funnels through the proxy.
BAD ATT!
If you are using T-mobile's 5.99 gprs plan and the HIDDEN proxy is enabled, all traffic will be routed through the hidden proxy and you will be forced to WSP:// pages. This will effectively lock you out of many of the sites that do not support the WSP protocol. Other carriers (Orange?) may be doing this too to drive WSP traffic.
To correct the problem, go to the windows folder and
1. run the restoreHiddenProxy4CWS_0522.cab
2. and then run the removeHiddenProxy4CWS_0522.cab file
3. Close your data connection and restart it. If you don't know how, just press the reset button.
After this is complete install the standard T-mobile GPRS settings and you should be in good shape. If you need a cab for t-mobile, search the board for the most current one or PM me. I keep one handy too.

try this:
server name: call it whatever you want
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
Server address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: whatever you called the server name
Sending limit: 300k
WAP version: WAP 2.0
make sure you set this MMS server as default
The 5.99 plan requires a proxy. No exceptions that I'm aware of. The good news is that I've not found a page that I cannot browse. The speed isn't stellar, but quite acceptable. Additionally, since the power requirements for GPRS are low, I check email every 10 minutes.
There are a series of CAB files floating around here somewhere that have all the correct settings for each of the Tmo plans.
Same phone also ulocked for T-mobile Final solution
I suggest that you start afresh (Hard reset your phone)
then go to this link and download the cab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1521768&postcount=70
download this cab
tmobyjoe599.cab
I had the same problem as you but that worked for me and im sure it will work for you.
Oh before i forget make sure that you disable automatic wireless configurator, that stuff is crap.
p.s note to be a pain in the ass. Next time search the forum even google will lead you to the answer of your question.
OK, my 8525 used to do this very well. I just got a tilt and installed several roms and they all did the same thing (duty, ATT org., and DCS) when I setup an email for a yahoo account and try to sync it says it cannot connect under these settings. But they are the default settings for att. I also checked with att and my settings are all correct. I was using the 1.58 radio now I'm starting to use 1.64 to see if that works any better. I don't know if this is a radio issue or whatever but I really need help att support isn't doing anything so I'm turning to you guys. (btw I've reset everything many many times getting the same error too)

Did you not learn anything from your 8525....?
You need to provide more info if you want help.
Start by creating a signature summarizing your device's set up.
Default is not always default....keep this in mind!
I don't know what data plan you have but I'll start with this:
Start > Setting > Connection > Connection > Advanced > Select Networks > In the Drop down box...you probably have Media Net, Try ATT Wap or vice versa.
This all I can do for you because you failed to provide more info. Based on the radios you've tried, I'm assuming you're on WM 6.1. Also, you need to address this issue in the thread of the Rom you're using.
You've said also that this issue repeats on several Roms.....What are you using to configure your Network settings?
Either Network Config or your cab file is not working properly you. You may have to manually input your settings. They are located around here somewhere or google it.

I'm sorry I thought I was providing enough info. I used the network config ROM that was built in to most of the windows 6.1 ROMs but I also used the "default" settings from att. (I ment defauld because that is what att shipps)
But if you want more info here is my network settings
When I first hit "connection settings" I have in bold "MY ISP" and "My Work Network"
if you go to manage "MY ISP" it has the config for att's isp. here are the settings:
Access Point Name: isp.cingular
UserName: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
(also set to use server IP)
_________________________________________________________________
Under the "Advance" tab I have 3 choices for each drop-down menu they are "My ISP" (which is selected for the top "programs automatically connect to the internet"), "MEdia Net", and "My Work Network" (which is selected for "programs that automatically connect to a private network)
the "MEdia Net" settings are as follows (and I have switched between using ISP and MEdia net in the drop down menu for internet and get the same problem)
Access Point Name:wap.cingular
User Name: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
(also set to use server IP)
_________________________________________________________________
I hope that is enough info like I said earlier my roms is currently DCS v1.7 and I'm running radio 1.64 as a side not it doesn't seem like my GPS is working correctly since it hasn't found a lock in 5min. But I think I've found the thread to help me with that. Again I'm having trouble with only syncing my e-mail althouth internet works just fine
I'm in your boat too. I have the same settings but under media net. I read one place to use the username and password you have but ATT says to leave blank and then run some cab file for proxy info. (I didn't do that) So far it has the exact settings you have, my PIE works and everything. Just can't send receive mail.
At this point though, mine just says connecting, and then asks me to verify my username and password, then I get ..
"Messages cannot be downloaded to your movile device. Make sure you are connected and that your email account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again. "
I've tried 2 different email addresses..

that's actually the first time I heard something about proxy settings. Where is that cab just in case (I'm willing to try anything)
I didn't use that cab but I did try Cingular PDA MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab
it should be attached.
EDIT
I know what solved my problem, paying a past due bill.
Problem Solved
OK, one piece of info that I didn't realize was important was that I am on the unlimited MEdia Net plan (which uses WAP.CINGULAR.COM) and the PDA plan, which is way more expensive uses ISP.CINGULAR.COM apparently I needed to change any network that was WAP and change it to ISP to get my pda to use things that I guess are usually covered in the PDA Data plan.
Thanks for your help everyone and I hope this can be used for someone else as well. long story short.....
media net=wap.cingular
pda plan=isp.cingular
I have a Xperia X1 which was bought from Vodafone so comes with all their rubbish. I've put my T-Mobile sim in (voda's x1 isn't simlocked) and setup all of the connections. The internet through the opera browser works, as does everything else whoch uses the internet. However Windows Live still continues to try and use the default Vodafone settings.
How can I change Windows Live to use the T-Mobile settings I have setup? I can't modify the "My ISP" or "WEB" connection's as they are "pre-configured and cannot be modified" and it it those which windows live tries to use.
Thanks.
You need to edit the registry HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Destinations\WEB and My ISP \Read Only set to 0. Then go into settings\connections\connections\my ISP and add your settings. You will also need to go into advanced\select networks and change it to WEB and edit and do the same.
Don't forget to remove the vodafone proxy information from the proxy tab.
My O2 sim card is working fine now with hotmail, aol and exchange
Vodaphone branded wifi connection
Hi, im on o2 aswell and got the voda branded handset everytime i try and connect to windows live or msn etc it tries to connect to gprs wap or something and i want it to use my wireless from home ive read up about it and its something to do with registery or something right?
Hi All,
Just a quick noob question if someone would be so kind!
I have amended the registry setting on my X1 in order to get skyfire working. I was wondering if someone could explain to me what the 'This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet' setting does and what the entry 212.183.137.12 refers to??
Many Thanks
Reb

Just over 2 years later and your post has helped me with a problem on my Omnia 2!
Hello all.
i just got a nexus one. Fantastic phone
The thing is , i cant seem to get the internet going.
Im from mozambique, and with other cellphones, for example the nokia one, all we need to configure is the name of the carrier and the apn, and we are good to go. no need for user nor password
Name: mcel
Apn: isp.mcel.co.mz
but when i do the same with the nexus, and try to browse, it says it didnt find any internet connection
i see a lot of settings i never saw before on any cellphone on the nexus, like MCC and MNC
is there some other settings i need to change to make internet connection work?
Many thanks in advance
You don't need to change any other settings, but put attention that APN has name and address - enter whatever you want in the name, but the address as you wrote - isp.mcel.co.mz. And change the type - write "default" there.
Get ready for the future ladies and gents! It seems T-Mobile has rolled out IPv6 but it doesn't quite work with mms. This is how I got it to work.
Go to Settings --> More... --> Mobile networks --> Access Point Names --> T-Mobile US --> APN protocol
Make a New APN
Name: T-Mobile US IPv6
APN: epc.tmobile.com
APN type: default, supl (I'm not 100% sure what supl does. It might need to go in the T-Mobile US APN.)
APN protocol: IPv6
APN roaming protocol: (don't know. as it doesn't affect anything on my Monthly4G plan)
View attachment 1517622
View attachment 1517623
Edit your original APN (T-Mobile US)
APN Type: "mms"
View attachment 1517626
View attachment 1517627
Set T-Mobile US IPv6 as your default APN.
This is what I get. It works, but as you can see i'm using GPRS so speeds are naturally a bit slow.
View attachment 1517620

This works with MMS and you get an IPv6 address!
Note: This will break your ability to go to websites via the IPv4 address. You'll have to use the Domain Name. e.g. www.google.com works, but not 64.4.11.37. This is something most of us will never notice.
Great write up, it really helps to have the screen shots. General IPv6 info T-Mobile here https://sites.google.com/site/tmoipv6/lg-mytouch
Do we benefit from this?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Yes. You benefit in that you do not have to go via a NAT when your phone communicates with another IPv6 enabled node, like www.facebook.com, www.google.com, or any of the other major sites / services that go via IPv6 natively.
Here is a general write up that Google did http://www.google.com/intl/en/ipv6/
and another talking some about how inbound connection to the phone are now possible http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ere-is-what-it-all-means-and-yes-no-more-nat/
But, generally, ipv4 is broken and run out. NAT breaks the internal model. The Internet needs ipv6 to grow, and thats why heavy weights like Google, Facebook, and others are pushing on it.
Tethering?
I'm on a Galaxy Nexus, but I've been fiddling with these settings for more than a week now trying to find APNs that work properly. Have you found that the system's WiFi tether option does not work when using IPv6? That seems to be the case on the Galaxy. This is the first time I've tried these specific settings, so I'm hoping that they work to give me functional MMS and the internet speeds of IPv6, I can live (subsist) without the tethering, but the no MMS thing was killing me.
As much as I loved this setup doing so broke my native SIP... Anyone have a work around?
supl type is "Assisted GPS" and not yet supported on T-Mobile IPv6.
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/tmoipv6beta/cc99N9A6e-k
mms type should work over IPv6 if you add the MMSC url (same url as IPv4).
wish i could get SIP working with this
I'm sorry, why do I benefit by switching to this? Just curious.

T-Mobile enabled dual stack (IPv4/IPv6) mode a few weeks ago. Just revert everything to stock, than change IPv4 only to IPv4/IPv6.
This works on Nexus 4, but not Nexus S or Galaxy Nexus due to a bug in their firmware. SIP should work in this mode.
With IPv6 only, SIP, Skype, and Google Talk voice and video rely on P2P connections (via IP address), but IPv6 only works with DNS hostnames. You can connect to a hostname that resolves to a IPv4 address (with NAT64), but you can't connect directly to a IP address, as it will fail in DNS. Hope that makes sense.
The Internet needs ipv6 to grow, and thats why heavy weights like Google

1) The internet is running out of IPv4 addresses.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv4_address_exhaustion
2) IPv6 also has better routing protocols for mobile devices.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_IP
3) You should immediately see better latency, as most larger sites (Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc) are already running IPv6 alongside IPv4. When both addresses are available, IPv6 is used by default.
