Weak 3g signal What next? - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got very weak 3g signal compared to my old phone(defy). In defy there was option to change baseband, but is there any chance for improvement in RazrI? I'm using Omar Rom, and I've check also pillama -no good.
It's killing me-I've got one bar when on defy I've had three, no signal when on defy two bars. Any idea how to fix this?
Ps. I live in very center of Europe in Poland, and my phone came from England

Iam feeling the same, on ICS i have more bars . but you should look at signal strange at "about phone information" in dBm.
I hope motorola will relase another JB with some new baseband

[Q] Bad WLan

Hi all,
I have got a fritzbox 7390 and the note, but the connection is not so well.
The range is very short but only with the Note.
My macbook and notebook got better signals, thats ok, but even the HTC Desire HD got a better one..
Any Ideas what can i do?
the note antenna isnt the ebst, compared to my hd2 running a miui rom it doesnt get as good a signal on the wifi, hd2 picks connects at 75Mb whilst my note conencts at 65Mb
can i improve the signal by using a costum rom or an app?
Best thing you can do is:
-Find best radio to flash
-Put router higher up and/or get repeater
-Tune to best channel if neighbours nearby using Wifi Analyzer from Market

I don't think so because this is a hardware problem basically (smartphone antenna / Router etc.)
Try another location for your router if possible and/or adjust its antennas.
Internet Service Provider (ISP) Tweaks: The AUTO-functions for the channel choice works perfect for me - on the other hand it could be the right thing for your enviroment to change this value for a fixed channel. Just jam a little bit with the hardware based options.
Best regards

ty,
I don't think that's a router problem, its working with a HTC desire hd and MacBook and notebook, only the note got a bad singal.
no one else got this problem?
which ROM should I flash and will it be better with ics

best baseband ? share your opinions !!

which is the best baseband for thrill 4g with respect to battery life !!
i know answers would be different but i would still like to hear ya'll out !
thanks...
You know what I think the only thing that baseband effects is the reception and data I think all the gingerbread bbs are the same on battery I'm on v20c with rogers not ghost calls not missed messages and I think the rom and kernal have the most to do with battery life I'm on acidhasard kitchen rom and I can get close to 48 hours on a battery with texting and light internet use.

Yea its true that bb only affects the reception but if your not getting good reception that means your phone is constantly searching for signal which translates to worse battery life. So I would advise you to check what frequency att is using in your area and use the bb that best works on that

yeap !
the main reason i asked about the baseband is because i use an at&t unlocked thrill in mumbai (india) !
there is no network issue over here !
no ghost calls or messages !
even voicemail works superfine !
i flashed the v21d last night. the device has been on since past 15 hrs and i have lost only 40% with moderate usage !
what are your battery readings ?
thanks...
well i ushally get 12 to 48 hours of use depends how much im on it

I'm coming from Arc S too, and while I never had such a big issues with Arc S Wi-Fi (on stock GingerBread), I can say that Wi-Fi reception on T is both, more stable, and with stronger signal.
Xperia Arc/S problems with signal are mostly related to bad ICS update, because on GB it was much better.
Regarding Google search, you know, nowadays people are searching for all kind of things, for reason and for no reason, and Google is remembering all that.
So basically, whatever nonesense you enter into Google search, you will most likely get some results, less or more relevant.

Mine is fine...
Xperia T could have much better wifi reception if Sony want...HW is ok but SW is killing its potencial
I have problems since I bought it,keep dropping connection(every 2 minutes reconnect )
ON Cyanogenmod theres no such issues,on TX firmware no problem too + wifi range 2x better than with stock T Firmware
Check this, its definetly not HW problem..

Agree, WiFi on Xperia is good except the range.. It sucks! My old LG optimus black was far better..

That is it. And this is why Google search will become irrelevant, sooner than we might believe.
From "XYZ has the best Wifi ever" to "XYZ's wifi reception is worst" ........ I assume that everything is all right.
Wifi reception in Singapore is sometimes difficult, bcs of the tight space, 20 or more Wifi transmitters locally, and so on. Also I believe in some cases there is a certain intention, since people shall be more encouraged using (pay) data connections.
I have same issue. Wifi signal is very poor in my Xperia T and it loses the connection all the time. I compared the Wifi reception with an Alcatel One Touch Idol and it was 2xbetter in same point. I think it has to be a SW problem, as the HW is the same than other devices and it works fine.

[Q] Should I get the Xperia Z?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting an Xperia Z soon but after doing a bit of research, it seems like this phone has a lot of pretty serious problems. This article mentions the most common ones:
http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/sony-xperia-z-problems-bug-fixes/
Well, I was just wondering if these problems still exist? I know that most Sony phones have problems related to WiFi and poor battery life, but is it especially bad on the Xperia Z?
Also, are there any other more serious problems I should be aware of, such as the sudden death problem (which apparently is now fixed?) ?
What are you doing with your phone mostly? do you have any other options?
in my opinion you should look for something else, but xperia z does its job very well (except POOR pics quality...)

I don't really use my phone much, mostly just txt and calls, light web browsing and gaming.
I don't have many options, mainly because the other alternatives are expensive. I'm considering this an option because someone is selling it cheap 2nd hand, and it's within my acceptable range.
wow my friend , this article is pretty old
all of these issues had resolved by sony updates
the phone work like a charm since fabruary , rooted and unlocked bootloader
battery life is averge but good standby time
camera is good but not wow
if u r not up to buying z1 or lg g2 , xperia z is a good phone

Well, that's good to hear. I just wanted to make sure, because from the many comments I've read, many people have had serious problems with WiFi and battery issues. It also seems a pretty well known problem among Sony phones, similar to how HTC phones have had display, WiFi and overheating issues.

Xperia Z is an beautiful beast, and with unlocked bootloader and custom ROM (or de-bloated / tweaked stock) / custom kernel, the battery life is simply amazing.
Get it and tweak it after your usage patterns!
Z is awesome... Is got it for myself n dont regret it a bit...
But the choice is yours... U should b satisfied with wat choice u make... Its just like a gud wife

What about other phones? Do they get low signal too or it is just your phone? Maybe it is from your provider, low signal.
Same problem here i'm using Orange in Romania( Orange have strongest signal in my country), but i get only 1 or 2 lines of signal. The sim on other phone work perfectly.
