Hey guys I'm new to androids and made a stupid mistake flashing a rom I shouldn't have and now my phone won't boot, it just keeps looping to HTC screen, I'm able to get to the bootloader but I haven't been able to find anything on how I recover the phone back to it's default rom. Can someone please help out, I'm without a phone until this gets fixed.
Did you make a nandroid before flashing the rom?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
No, I don't believe so
Well if you are able to get into bootloader that should mean you can get to recovery?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
Yeah I can get to the bootloader and recovery is there but that doesn't seem to work. I tried to install the rom for the rogers raider found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338919 , but that program errors out and the error code seems to suggest its the wrong rom.
I'm new to this and don't know what to do
I would say try running the ruu that bananacakes posted. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337036
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
Thanks I'll try that out, takes forever to download. Just to make sure, I should be connecting the phone through fastboot and then running the program? I wanna make sure I'm doing things the right way.
So that other link you sent me doesn't work just errors right away saying its the wrong rom. I tried the rogers one again and it errors out again, when I unplug the usb from the phone the screen on the phone reads
RUU
Security fail!
Update fail!
And then I saw that it looks like I don't have a full root as it says S-ON.
Could this be the problem because I don't have full permission. What can I do, I feel like I'm stuck in limbo here. If this is the issue would I be able get S-OFF in the state the phones is in and if not is there another work around to restore the phone?
Are you running the ruu on your computer? Because its not meant to be flashed thru recovery.

Hey guys, still haven't figured out a fix for my issue. PG's been trying to help me out but we're at a bit of a stand still, maybe some one else might have some ideas, I'm up for anything at this point. 3 days without a phone now heh

ok. we need to recap everything in pretty good detail to see what we can try next.
what recovery did you initially flash on your phone?
what rom did you try to flash?
you now have the correct recovery on your phone?
RUUs all fail with what error exactly?
Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the rom, I'm pretty sure it was for HTC Evo from rom manager.
I had put that CWM recovery 5.0.2.7 from bananacakes that's used to root the phone, but it's now back to the original after I flashed the file you game me. But I originally rooted my phone with that one click method found here http://androidcommunity.com/htc-amaze-4g-gets-permanent-one-click-root-20111020/
I've tried every RUU except the Cingular file and they've all had the same Error 155, saying that it's the wrong rom.

wow. so you flashed a CDMA rom on your GSM phone.....can you please try to remember the name of the rom so we can find out what all it changed?
from everything i am reading, you need a goldcard and that PH39IMG.zip file i gave you
do you think you could make a gold card? do you have a spare phone and an sdcard?
http://android.modaco.com/topic/305672-creating-a-goldcard/
If I could see a list of them maybe I could remember which one but without that no. I Have an iphone 3g and an sd card but that wont help heh
I could possibly get a friend to make me a gold card with his phone, what would the process be after making a gold card?
Hey PG I finally was able to make a Gold card, so I don't want to do anything wrong here. Am I putting that image you gave me on the gold card or am I using fastboot with the gold card in?

either way should work
I tried both and the same errors seem to come up. When I put it on the gold card it tried loading it, but it error'd out just like before and I get the same error when trying to flash it using fastboot.
i am running out of ideas here.
you can unzip that zip file, and manually flash most of that on your phone through fastboot, but i dont know if its going to matter.
when you boot to hboot/fastboot, can you verify the version information at the top of the white screen?
So I have screwed up pretty bad and now tried fixing the problem myself before asking for help.
Earlier I flashed Android Revolution HD 12.3 to finally realize that I didnt work with sprint, however I forgot to make a back-up for my phone. I have tried using adb sideload to install viper's rom v1.1.0 via TWRP. After the flash is complete and I click reboot, I get an error saying "No OS installed! Are you sure you want to reboot?"
If I swipe to reboot, I end up with a black screen with a toolbar at the top. I am totally lost and have been searching to forums for hours on end. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I have been able to get viperROM to boot to the startup screen, however with a minute or so I get an error which states "Precess system is not responding, would you like to close it?" Then my phone restarts to the black screen.
You messed up your partitions by flashing that rom. From bootloader select factory reset to get your partitions back and then sideload your sprint rom and you should be set.
Or this method will work too.

I tried the first method and didnt have any luck. I did notice that when looking through the install folder, the .zips are no longer listed. However, when the phone turns on for a few seconds and I am able to open files through my PC, they are listed there.
Second method got me to the startup screen. As I attempted to connect to wifi, I had no phone service and also there was an error connecting to wifi due to "temporarily avoiding poor connection". Then the phone instantly restarted back to a black screen.

You're lucky the partitions aren't aligned in a way that your hboot was overwritten. Otherwise you'd have a brick instead of a phone.

I know, I really lucked out. Took a solid 14+ hours of research and trial and error to figure out how to fix it. I had rooted my old evo 4G a few times thinking I still knew what I was doing, but that was a while ago. I should have definitely took some extra time to do some more research before I flashed.
This is why i don't flash roms from another section even though some have sprint version i just don't trust them

I flashed viper's sprint version of his ROM and havent been receiving text messages or phone calls. I think its time to just give up on keeping my phone rooted. I havent had any favorable results yet.
So I ran a RUU to get everything back to stock as described above, however I am no longer receiving text messages or phone calls. I can send them though. Would anyone know why?

Problem: Friend thought it would be cool to put Android Revolution HD on my HTC One since he did it on his and wanted to surprise me with it...
Long story short he did, and now I have a soft bricked device. I've tried pushing a stock and a custom ROM through ADB sideload and I end up with a phone that acts like it is going to work, gets to the lock screen and freezes. It has no service but that's irrelevant because I can't even get past the lock screen. I can however use my volume key to raise and lower volume.
Can anyone get me past this or am I screwed till a new RUU comes out/way to get S [OFF] after hitting 1.55?

Thanks so much for the reply, I'll give it a shot. I'm desperate right now willing to try anything.
Also forgot to mention the boot animation does fine, the phone acts like it's going to work fine then it just plain freezes where it would normally give you the "sign into google account" and name your phone. So I'm not sure what's missing if anything, if anyone has solved this and is willing to help I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah, exactly. Is there any way I can go about fixing that? I'm checking out that guys thread, and it sounds promising... but I can't figure out how to get my drive to sync with my PC to transfer it to TWRP to install it. I'm going to try to ADB it but I doubt that will work. Starting to lose hope at the moment lol but trying to stay optimistic.

Only way to fix the partitions is to run an RUU which we don't have.
Is your phone seen by your PC when it's plugged in and booted to the rom? I know it doesn't boot correctly but maybe you can move the file to your phone.
You could also try adb push nameoffile.zip /sdcard/ most likely won't work because of the partitions
Format with TWRP first to get partitions clean, then adb push Rom/sideload

Thanks for the replies guys, going to try that now. It feels like entire ROM would work fine and there was just "something missing" from my phone. It may very well be a radio. I know something got wiped that shouldn't have because I had to do partition reset due to... well I'm sure you know. Also had to side load TWRP. Learning experience for me, not frustrated at least I'm getting knowledge to help others with it if I can solve it on my own.
Okay so, reporting back that FIXED my no service issue, and it's bringing up updates in the notification bar, only problem is I can't use the touch interface. I don't think my phone is broken, I think it just lacks everything that makes it a smartphone.
Anyone have an idea as to what I can flash to get it back up and running? It feels like it's missing touch interface, and whatever is needed to initiate the "factory" setup screens. Shouldn't the ROM include all of that? I put Viper ROM 1 on there. Progress was made, but it's missing something lol.
The radio also stopped it from resetting and turning itself off after 30 seconds like it was doing previously. Is there a flash-able touch interface I can throw on it? Heh...
Also noticed after it was plugged in for a couple of minutes it's detected by my PC now so I don't need to side-load anymore. Not that it was hard to, just a step forward I think. Just need to figure out what's missing from the boot screen and what I need to put on it to be able to use the touch screen. Any ideas?

So, i got an HTC ONE in august or so, and then i had it rooted last month or so, but i didnt really do anything. The problems all started going downhill last night. I was looking on how to update it to 4.3 Jellybean, and when i downloaded the ZIP, i went to my recovery(Teamwin or something) and installed it, but after that ,my phone would use like a black screen and not everything would work. So somebody suggested that if that occurs, factory reset your phone, or wipe it. And i did both, and then i ended up here. I have No OS, my screen is stuck on the "HTC-QUIETLY BRILLIANT" Page, and nothing works. The only thing that i can access is my bootloader and my recovery, etc. I am what you guys may call a half-way noob, i know a lot, but this topic is totally confusing the heck out of me. If somebody could help me fix this, i would owe them so much. Please help out a fellow HTC Oner.

I'm not an expert, but it doesn't seem too bad if you can get into recovery. First thing is to find out if you have a suitable ROM on the phone. If you inadvertently wiped internal data, you will probably need to sideload a ROM. If you do have a ROM on the phone AND you are sure it is one for the M7WLS, you can try flashing it again. If it were me, I'd download a stock rooted ROM and either sideload it or just push it via ADB. Your problems might have been the result of a bad download or installing a ROM for the wrong phone. If you did indeed flash a GSM ROM, the RUU is the way to go, but I've never messed with that process, so hopefully someone else will give you more details on that process.

Hello all,
I'm sorry to interrupt you all, but this is rather important!
I tried to root my girlfriends Velocity 4G which she got with her contract with A1 (austrian carrier).
I already flashed a One S and knew of the complications a root for HTC could bring.
So I tried to get everything together before flashing and then I did it...
Got the bootloader unlocked, installed TWRP and flashed sun_dreams rom.
Don't worry, I wiped all clean and think I did it the right way (already flashed 4 other phones, but samsungs').
But I seem to have missed something as I got in a neverending bootanimation (white background with green htc logo).
I know, that you sometimes have to wait a few minutes, but after about 5 minutes or so, I thought I was stuck on boot loop.
So I rebooted, flashed it again and rebooted and nothing changed.
I then read about the boot.img... So I extracted the boot.img and did a full wipe, then installed it, after that the rom and then (just to be safe) three times again the boot.img.
Rebooted and now I got the reboot loop (white background with green logo, then black, then white background again and so on)
I tried everything and as I was about to give up, read about the final solution: the RUU or PH39IMG.zip.
Now the problem is: I cant get either of them to work. At all. When trying to flash the RUU (with bootloader relocked), the programm says: "ERROR 170: No device connected".
I read about some other people having the same problem, so I tried the solution given to them: go to the first screen, then to your temp data, extract the rom.zip, rename it and flash that one, via putting it on the external sd and booting into bootloader.
Didn't work either: Wrong CID. Same for all RUUs I could find even closely related to my phone.
As I couldn't find the real correct RUU, I tried to cheat and use the goldcard to overgo the cid-problem.
Because I couldn't boot up the Velocity 4G I tried to make one with my own Galaxy S2, which worked.
Seems to be the wrong way, since it's the wrong CID anyways, when trying to install the PH39IMG (still all RUUs say ERROR 170).
I might need to mention I didn't do the S-OFF thing, as I didn#t want to mess with the hardware... Is that necessary for my problem to getting fixed?
Maybe I just need the one correct RUU for my model, but I can't find it anywhere!
please help me somebody, as I feel very guilty because of wrecking my girlfriends phone! :crying:
any help is appreciated!!!

So far so good... but where do I get it from?
I have this one:
RUU_HOLIDAY_SENSE3_5_Vodafone_DE_2.38.162.1_Radio_3.02.4740.09_34.20.701040.19_release_241518_signed
But this one won't work either...
What complicates the search, is that this phone goes by so many different names (vivid, velocity, holiday, raider, etc...)
Should I post a getvar all?
Concerning your further steps: I would be very happy to get it to run at all, maybe then think of reflashing something.
I don't know if I manage that s-off thing and I don't want to hard brick it and give it the final punch...
anyways, thanks for the fast response!

I already did that with all the RUUs I found, but none worked...
EDIT: so I tried a solution offered by another poster in another forum which said to install CM10 on a clean wipe.
did that and it booted in the cm boot screen and loads the "first install wizard"... well, at least to the language selection screen, then it freezes and reboots again.
but at least we bought us some time at the start.

I already reunlocked before i flashed the CM10 rom and i didn't forget to flash the boot.img afterwards and even went back again to recovery to wipe cache and dalvik and fixed permissions.
Which one should i try?
thank you for your help!! :good:
is updating the hboot even possible without s-off?
so it seems i have to obtain s-off to flash anything else than stock rom...
as far as i read you have to be on stock ruu to obtain s-off, is that correct?
because that would be bad, as i don't have the stock ruu for my phone.
is it possible to acquire s-off without being on stock rom and would it be possible with the state my phone is in?

i already wrote a pm. do you have any ideas left? maybe try and install a gb rom and then try that ruu again?
ps: i did manage to start the ruu.exe (by reinstalling the htc sync) and it stopped with the error 131. installing the rom.zip (or PH39IMG.zip) still won't work as it says customer id check failed...

Okay, so I did manage to fix it, as it seems...
This is what I did:
1. reunlocked bootloader
2. installed TWRP and booted into recovery
3. mounted the internal SD as mass storage
4. copied over VJRaiders GB rom
5. did a full wipe
6. installed VJRaiders rom
7. rebooted into bootloader
8. fastboot flashed the kernel found in the rom thread (twice)
9. rebooted and it worked...
I don't know how and why, but the problem seemed to be that I always tried to flash non-GB roms. As simple as that.
I have no idea why the RUU and PH39IMG didn't work tho...
Well. I won't touch that thing for a looong time, as it works and I had enough problems getting there!
The reason that you had problems with ics and upward roms is because your phone still has the gb hboot. This is because boss never released the ics update. To install ics roms you need the ics hboot.

Which I'm only able to attain with s-off, am I right?
Correct, I believe. If you didn't get an official update to ICS, you'll have to S-Off. It's honestly not as bad as it sounds, I did mine with some speaker wire...probably the worst part of it is getting the cover off of the section where you have to ground out the point. Just take your time, and make sure you're in a well lit area, with a little bit of working space, and you'll be fine.
well, the problem is, that we are not longer on a stock rom and can't seem to flash the original ruu, as we don't find it anywhere...
and as far as i know it is not recommended or possible to go s-off without being on stock rom!?
AFAIK it is UNTESTED... Not impossible

If this is anything like other HTC devices, i'd say your best shot if you're willing to try an untested idea, would be to give it a shot with a sense rom, as they tend to be (under the hood anyways) a lot closer to stock than non sense roms.
