Since I cant post in the dev thread, I'll ask here.
I updated to the newest JC 10.1. The build is 4/18/13.
After the update, my physical key and home soft-key stopped responding to input.
Anybody else having this problem? Is there a solution? Thanks
Flash gapps again and wipe cache and dalvik cache? If not try a clean install

My buttons work on pervious builds, but on the newest cm10.1 from JC doesnt. I tried a clean install, wiped everything. still nothing.
Bump?
What version of cwm do you have ? If you are on cwm 5 ill suggest you update it to cwm 6. Or if you use the team win recovery that could be the reason...try doing a clean installation with acme installer.

Hello...
Recently my home button stopped working on my phone and after searching the net and various forums, I have seen that people with the same problem have done wipes and fixed their issue. I'm trying to see if I can do a complete wipe to see if the home button will work again for me. The only problem is that I'm currently running Cyanogenmod 4.2.15.1 and whenever I get to the recovery console, select Alt+W, it asks me to hit the home button to confirm the wipe... once again, my home button doesn't work so I can't do that. Is there any way that I can wipe my phone through the terminal emulator?
Just a thought... flash Koush's recovery. It does not ask you to confirm.
Also, isn't there an option to wipe from the settings? Menu->Settings->SD card & phone storage->Factory data reset.
Good luck.
I assume this was already fixed, but just wanted to chime in and offer my own experience.
My home button stopped working randomly, I don't know what caused it to stop. Tried rebooting and that didn't solve anything. Then tried booting into recovery mode by holding the home key down. It worked so I knew the actual button worked. Did the wipe from settings like described above. That didn't work, so I was about to reflash the ROM. I realized I didn't have a backup ROM in the root of my SD card so I just rebooted normally after a full wipe from recovery. It worked.
tl;dr-> use alt+w in recovery if possible.
I initially intalled CM7 after cleaning cache and Dalvik and backing up my current ROM using Clockwork. it went good unitil after booting I accidentally installed Gapps from 6.1
Now it boots and loops from the blue CM7 screen to the green andriod asking ' Touch to Start '
I dont know how to get out of this loop or to go bak to recovery manual mode. Please Help. Any chance we can fix this
Thanks
Pull your battery to get out of the bootloop. Then press and hold home while pressing the power button. That should take you to your recovery, where you can wipe and reinstall CM7.

EDIT: I am late to the party, nvm.
I did what you said. When i press power and home button the only menu option i get is 'Clear Storage' to which i pressed yes and 'Menu reset' which i pressed yes. it reboots and back to the loop. Back to loading CM7 and 'touch to begin'
The party is still on. As said installed CM7 with Gapps for CM6 accidentally and now stuck in endless bootloop. Trying to fix it. First suggestion hasnt worked so far
OK so you don't have a recovery (I'm guessing you tried to use rom manager = bad idea). Do you have ADB?
I think I do but have never used it ir dont know how
Is there any hope of recovering the phone or is it just better to get a replacement from Sprint

You need to pull the battery, press volume down + end button (at same time) in order to get to the bootloader. You should then see the skateboarding androids. Press the home button to get into recovery and wipe/format boot, system, data, cache (just to be sure) and then reflash and flash the right gapps.

I doubt sprint would even look at it, let alone fix it or replace it, once they see that you rooted.
Also, I've flashed older gapps with cm7 and didn't get loops. My guess? You forgot to data wipe before installing cm7.

Thank you so much. That finally got me into reboot. Now waiting for reboot with fingers crossed Thank you
Well something went wrong and for all you guys out there with Sprint. They did replace my phone. All i had to do was call and tell them that I was at their Service center to fix the phone and those guys couldnt fix it and it is stuck on the boot screen. But i think i will manage to salvage this before my replacement arrives
Lessons Learned
So the big lesson here is when you need to get into recovery press the volume down and the home button simultaneously and your home free. Thanks to all who helped
Update - Issue Solved
So i did mange to get into recovery and wipe everything off and reinstall cm7 again. Now i hope to flash the right gapps and ill be in gingerbread heaven

If you have a sprint hero, that is actually not correct.
hold home and press power = recovery
hold vol down and press power = bootloader
I don't know what's up with your phone, and I'm glad you fixed it, but if I were you I would reflash a good recovery image just to be safe. Also, make sure when you're getting ROMs you get them from a thread in hero cdma and use the gapps also linked in the OP of that same thread (don't use rom manager IMO). Always flash from recovery and follow the correct steps, that way you should not run into "issues" again. Also, my best encouragement for you, is to search and read. Happy flashing
If you have big fingers, pressing the power button can sometimes press the search button or back button, often causing you to boot into bootloader instead of recover.

LOL, my fingers are so fat, that I have to be REALLY careful when doing these things, or in recovery using the trackabll

Yeah, I have to use my thumbnail which will eventually chip off the paint or whatever it is on the button.
Ha. I actually place the phone on a flat surface a press the buttons.
Root/Hack-Mod_Always*
Hold down the HOME button and then hold the POWER/END CALL button til the phone screen comes on and that should boot you right into recovery if you're having problems with the volume down method

Hey Guys,
i was just trying out the new nightly and everything was working fine, till i wanted to install titanium backup through recovery...
I powered of my note which i have just flashed with cm10 (version in thread title) and then powered off.
Holding Volume-UP and Home Button and then Power. Getting into:
CWM based Recovery v6.0.1.3
Volume-Up and -Down, also back-touch key are working, but Home button does not... so i can't confirm any menu options.
Tried also only Volume-UP and Power but that's also not possible. I could only flash the older safe cm9 kernel with odin and there the home button works like expected. I hope anyone has any idea what i could do...
Or is it possible to flash the kernel from cm9 and work with cm10?
And could i go back to stock ics 4.0.3 without any problems?
Regards,
zentaury

You can't flash cm9 kernel on a cm10 rom.
For stock ics just download stock rom file and flash it via mobileodin or pcodin...

But could someone confirm that the cw recovery is not working correctly? Or am i doing something wrong?
It's working. Just use the power button instead of the home button.

It totally depends on the kernel and the CWM version you are using ? Is it a Touch version ? Is Home key Supported ? In most of cases Power key works instead of Home key.

I don't understand why this is so hard for people.

Because the safe kernel has home button support on my device and after flashing to cm10 it doesn't work...
Power button, great thanks, like in stock recovery...

I installed CM10.1 from this thread and everything went smooth and works great. However, no matter what I do I can't boot into recovery mode. I've tried the hardware key combinations, the power menu in 10.1/4.2.2 and I've also tried ROM Manager from CWM (to install the latest CWM and boot to it). Everything just boots like normal.
From what I've read I'm guessing I have a recovery that isn't compatible with my ROM? If that's the case, what recovery should I use and how can I install it using nvflash???
Finally got ADB working and was able to install gapps using the method found here (with minor adjustments): http://www.keyables.com/2012/05/use-adb-to-install-google-apps-includes.html
Very cool.
It would probably still be nice to be able to get into recovery if I ever need to... oh well.
Power Off
Press Volume+ and Power and HOLD THEM
Select option 2.
Please put questions in the General section as this is for development only.
I am havIng the same issue with recovery but when I press and hold volume+ and power I get the samsung custom screen and I see recovery in very small blue font in the upper left, I am still holding both keys and then the phone just boots up normal. Any ideas?

My home button has stopped working on my TP. I'm currently stuck on the mobot 0.35 screen. volume rockers work to move cursor up and down to select webos or Android but home button to select wont work. Seems I can only wait for the battery to die and then let it reboot naturally since holding the power button and the volume rocker doesn't seem to reboot in Mobot screen.
Going forward I'd like to restore home button functionality. it stopped working some time ago. Should I open up HP TouchPad and see if I can fix the issue with the contacts of the home button? Don't know if thats easy or if I'm capable of. Or is there another way to install a newer Android version for me without a functional home button? thx!

Android should be the default boot option for moboot. You could try using the older install methods with the ACMEInstaller5 here if you're desperate to get android working again. Try using a newer rom below.
Download Android 4.4.4 Kitkat install files(Rom, Recovery, Gapps):
Rom:Download the latest Lineage11 build
Recovery:TWRP-jcs-dm-tenderloin-20140612b.zip
Gapps:gapps-base-arm-4.4.4-20170902-1-signed.zip
Note: Do Not unzip the files.
Repairing the actual button could be tricky but there's an iFixit guide here HP TouchPad disassembly guide on youtube here
