Hi there, I'm running doomkernel v06 and xperia revolution rom on my xperia z.
everythings running smoothly but i can only select the wheatley, ondemand, performance and interactive cpu governors and cant change clock settings for the gpu but i'm mostly wanting to try other governors as they seem one of the oeasier ways to lower battery drain and boost performance for relatively little tinkering.
I was wondering if there was any way to install governors or another kernel for the z with more features.
I apologise if this has been asked before, I've looked all over google and couldnt find anyway to get other governors.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks
alex
Lack of governors and full of useless threads.

Hi everyone,
Tried various kernels on cm 6.1 rc1 and cfs vs. bfs scheduler with 128mhz to max. Also interactive and ondemand governor.
Anyone like to share in your opinion which kernel_cfs/bfs_governor gives the better battery life , of course stability?
Thanks!

Hi guys.
I would like to know the differences amongst various governors. I googled a bit and both on the net and XDA I found some explanations, but not all the governors I have are properly explained. Some of them are not explained at all.
Is there anybody able to help me?
I found some info here and here
The governors I have with FM1.5 not explained are:
lazy
lulzactive
lagfree
intellidemand
smartassv2
ondemandx
Ok, some of them like lagfree could be self-explanatory, but I would be grateful if somebody could be more clear...
Thanks as usual to all!!
bump.
no one?

I was in Prague for a week
Ok, so, to be honest using only Google I found this:
lazy (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276092) - is ondemand but with an added option to stay longer on a certain frequency. This is due to the fact that some CPU's dont like too quick freq changes when sampling rate for decision making is set too low. See link for more.
lulzactive (http://tegrak2x.blogspot.com/2011/11/lulzactive-governor-v2.html) - is basically interactive governor with added smartass bits and variable (as opposed to fixed amout) frequency scaling, based on currently occuring cpu loads. Has, like smartass, a sleep profile built-in. See link for details on exact scaling.
lagfree (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272933) - seems to be ondemand but with a lessend tendency to ramp up to 100% but rather also use steps available in between 0-100%.
intellidemand (freely translated from http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-hacking-modding-fuer-samsung-galaxy-s2/185085-ist-ein-governor.html) - behaves like ondemand when the system is under heavy use, it behaves differently when the system is mostly ideling. That mode is colled "browsing mode" or "browser mode" or whatever. It seems to be some sort of "intelligent" demand sensing/analysing ondemand governor.
smartassV2 - this one should be known. It's the same as smartass(V1) but tweaked. Same code author. I heard one should use smartassV2 instead of smartass when available.
ondemandx - is ondemand with an added sleep profile built-in. I believe all ...X kernels are the default kernels but with an added sleep profile.
Just in case you wonder: I use Savagedzen, I somehow like it best. And I have to get up at 4:20am thats in 2:48h so you may excuse me if I go to bed.
thanks +1
Hope you found the info you were looking for already, if not - take a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369817
Hi everyone,
I start this thread in order to ask wich governors and I/O Shedulers do you preffer. I put all the time as governor the smartassv2 and to I/O Sheduler the deadline, I dont know if this is the best combination but I see great perfomance using this.
Wich "Combo" do you use?

If sio/simple and interactiveX is availiable, i use those. If not I simply use default setting, cause they mostly are quite fine

Indeed I prefer interactiveX too, to bad it isn't avaiable for CM7... yet... and for I/O I like BFQ just for the name
very useful question, there is a topic about governors and i/o schedulers and i read it many times but personal opinions is nice to know.
i'm on smartassv2 and deadline on zeus v6 right now..
performance is very good, battery drain during the night is also good.. but i got the feeling that the battery drain during the day is a bit too much.
Which is the best gaming kernel and rom
.....????
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Best gaming kernel ?
The latest AniDroid kernel.
Underclock it to 250MHz @850mV.
Overclock it to 1.6GHz @1300mV.
Undervolt each frequency.
Overclock the GPU to 400MHz.
Install ChainFire Engine from the Market.
The ROM doesn't matter much, but I'd stay clear from TouchWizz because its bloated.
Something like sixstrings's AOKP Build 40. Or ParanoidAndroid v0.5. Or some other ROM.
The most efficient IO is Simple IO governor, aka SIO. Benchmarks show it as weak, but its actually the best one, eveyone knows this.
The most efficient governor for the N7000 is interactiveX.
lulzactiv and pegasusQ don't seem to work well for many people (me included).
When gaming something intensive (GTA3, DeadTrigger, Flash games, etc) you might one to change it to "Performance" governor. But it will drain your battery fast, so have it charging or have a spare battery handy. And remember to deactive "Performance" governor back to interactiveX (or otherwise Hotplug or Ondemand).
Besides this, try experimenting with different set ups. You could get different results, and find what works best for you.
OK. THREAD CAN NOW BE CLOSED. DON'T FORGET THE THANKS BUTTON.
I had my xperia T for two weeks now and there is a major problem with my device its the batter I have major battery drain with my xperia T plz help me fix these problem and I haven't rooted it or unlocked.

i had you same issue... just root your XT and change to ondemand governor
no overheat, no thermal throttle, smoother, much more battery life..
I thought ondemand was a stock governor.
Correct me if wrong.

No, on demand is available from stock. There are a few governors actually.
Msm-dscv, on demand, userspace, powersave and performance.
Also a few I/O schedulers. Namely: noop, deadline and cfq.
Changing to on demand ready made the device smoother imo.

Thermal throttling is there, but less noticeable.

I meant to type stock, not custom...d'oh...but that means there is no need to root to enable it.
The post i quoted said to root then enable on demand. If it is stock governoer there is no need to root.
