Black status bar? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is the only way of making the status bar on top and bottom appear black really installing a custom ROM?
Is there no simpler solution?

simpler solution is to update to .253. this has black top and bottom bar :good:
downside is, there is no root method yet. not without unlocking bootloader.

No just update to the new. 253 firmware

i am in uk and i just flashed a prerooted rom, just one thing with the Baseband on new release is a little slow on bootup to pick you network (Before i unlocked)
but i am now on unlocked bootloader so all changed for me

I don't think I want to unlock my bootloader. I'm actually very happy with the stock ROM, if it weren't for the colour of the status bars, which is a fairly small niggle anyway.
To lose my DRM keys, and Bravia 2 engine doesn't seem to be worth it, just so that I can install ROMs that don't give me anything new anyway.
UK guy: Were you offered the update by SONY or am I the only one who doesn't get it? I don't suppose it's because I'm rooted. I'm not getting any error messages.

[Q] Unsimlock Xperia T

Hi everyone !
First of all, I'd like to introduce a little of myself because i'm new here ! My name is David, I'm 22, and i'm from France (Sorry for my English :angel. I just switched from an iPhone 4s to a Sony Xperia T (obvious in this section of the forum, right? ^^)
I'm a total beginner about Android development, but i'm learning more and more everyday !
Here is my problem : The xperia I bought is simlocked to Orange, a french provider (even though I know it exists in other countries), and i'd like to know how I could get rid of this lock so I can use my phone with my unlimited plan from another provider.
Does the lock come from the fact that the it's a Orange Firmware ? Can I bypass it by flashing the firmware and installing another firmware that won't be from Orange?
Do I have to unlock the bootloader ? Root the phone ?
Thanks for your answers and your help ! :good:
It will be simlocked to Orange regardless, you'll have to call Orange or a third party to unlock it for you.
Only Samsung devices and certain HTC have certain ways to unlock the phone freely. I don't know about Sony, as this is my first Sony phone.
I already called them, they told me that it costs 76€.. And a third party would be pretty much the same I guess..
Well I hope there's gonna be another solution, because I can't wait to fully use it ! :fingers-crossed:
Thanks for your answer though !
Most t third pairs will do it for around 30 bucks
Did I help? Then please don't forget to press the thanks button.

well I can't find one that'll do it for 30 bucks, so if you know one !
French law about cellphone states your service provider is to unlock your phone free of charge (considering you ask for it) after the sixth month of your engagement.
It can be done sooner but as you said, it's not free at all, and you'll still have to pay for your monthly plan for the rest of your engagement period.

well if it is in status locked, you can unlock it (if i understand correctly). type *#*#7378423#*#* service info, configuration (or similar, am on cm10 so cannot look) and check if you can unlock it.

The phone is in status locked when I look in Service Info, but I believe some members here already did unlock their bootloader.
Also I flashed the original Orange branded rom and replaced it with the Generic UK one, which is not branded (I thought by doing this it might disable the simlock, but it didn't..)

what i mean is not simlock, of course, but it should say in that menu if you can unlock bootloader.
it should say something like: Rooting: Unlock of bootloader: Yes
edit: from sonymobile site:
Instructions
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.

It actually says "No" to unlock the bootloader, that's what I was trying to say previously lol
That's why I said that I believe, even though it says no, that some members managed to unlock it. Or maybe that status is proper to each phone?

Is the bootloader unlocking linked to the simlock ?

That's true for the 2011 line and some of the 2012 line. But for Xperia t it is not (yet) possible. And if they unlocked while bootloader unlock allowed stated no they paid for it.

Thanks !
None other than to ask your carrier nicely it for a paid for service. And its unlikely there ever will be one.

And sometimes my PC tries to install a driver MEdfield which it never finds!!!
It can it be a solution?
Have you other solution ?
did u downgrade from JB to ICS with rsd lite? Than your Razr i is one giant brick. At the moment there is no solution for that.

I did the same brick, with unlocked bootloader. Then i sent it to the warranty and said that an cable update failed. After 10 days, they said it was totally dead, then they gave me a totally new Razr i, with the box and everything.
Since the werent able to make it run, they didn't know the bootloader was unlocked.

[Q] Weird app and firmware update

So I was using my phone when suddenly there're notifications about a dummy app and a firmware update 12.1.X.0.2205. The dummy app didn't do anything much went opened tho. Just XPERIA written all over the screen. As for the firmware update it uses X instead of A and build 2205 just make no sense. Furthermore it's 0.2205 which I suppose is kind of weird. Any of you received the same or it was just me? I've searched the whole forum searching for answers and I can't find any. Is it just Sony mistakenly released it or what?
And as for the firmware update. I tried every means to get it installed but the installation failed. Just asking because of curiosity tho.
It might have been a mysterious force gave me superpowers through a weird phone update and I cant access it until the time comes but oh well that's just me and my imagination

Oh yeah and one more thing. Is there any possibilities that this is a sign that Sony's making a kit kat build? Since that update I received was weird and all. I had a tiniest hope in that
Or maybe it's just my update centre is bugged and all :silly:
maybe it's something like this

and a question..how did you make your notification drawer like this?

Nah I wouldn't say it's the same as there is no announcement of a new firmware by Sony. The link was for .205 and I've updated mine.
A little off-topic tho hahah.

Disable Lock Screen entirely.

So, rooted, boot unloaded, but running the latest firmware available on stock Xperia stuff, and one issue I've come across (Which was also present when going back to a previous firmware when doing root-exploit)
I can't disable my lock screen. I have to have one.
When I should be getting this.
Instead I get this.
When Googling answers, the most relevant result is someone asking how to go to AOSP lock screen rather than Xperia's. But I don't want that, I don't want a lock screen at all.
So, is there a way for me to cut it out entirely? Because it's not giving me the option to 'None'. I know you can go through and just delete/block specific system apps (The 'No xperia lock screen' thread suggested this), but that was for Xperia's. I don't know if it's dangerous to do for all of it.
Why is this missing? It exists going back to Xperia Z. Is my firmware faulty? Because it's in the list of firmwares (and the only one for me might I add)

2 out of 3 firmwares available. The old and new. It was pretty weird, but I suppose it doesn't matter now. I went with Cyanogen 12 since I managed to get some of the things fixed on it.
I'm wondering if it was due to a dirty flash. I havn't seen anyone complain about the firmware I used having any issues like it.
I didn't have it on the previous firmware I was on. D5833. I flashed a D5803 firmware and I have the option to disable it now.

Isn't doing something like that a bad idea? Doesn't the firmware have to match the model exactly?
5833 and 5803 were different models I thought.
Haven't noticed any difference yet to be honest. I've flashed roms for both variants and afaik there's no difference at all.
