Hi!
I am new to the HTC brand. Does HTC release new firmwares to their phones periodically like for example Sony Ericsson does? SE even has a flash tool on their website for most of their phones and some phones even periodically check for new firmwares.
Just wonders how HTC handles that since most ROMs I see here seem to be home cooked.
They do, just register on the htc website and check the e-club download section.
Bye and welcome to the HTC world

The folks over at WMPoweruser have stumbled on something quite amazing: a video of an HTC HD7 running Android over at xda.cn. They note the authenticity should be questioned, but looking at the video, we are left with two options: legitimate Android, or a very, very careful fake. Assuming the video is real, the HTC HD7 shown in the video has received a flashable Android ROM, and seems to run with very little lag. No information about how much works is available, but it appears to be well along in development. If this is indeed legitimate, it appears some hackers have managed to find a way to flash Android ROMs on the HTC HD7.
Watch the video above and tell us what you think. By the looks of it, the HD7 may be following suit with it's younger cousin, the HTC HD2.

I have the rogers HTC one. Which forum do I use?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
x2 I also have a Rogers version and I don't know which forum to use. I know with previous phones from Rogers, I would use the at&t forum of the same device, but with the HTC One, it seems like some people are using this forum to flash roms
So I'm confused
There was a chart somewhere that broke down which were the same device. I remember on that list the T-Mobile(US), International, AT&T, and Dev were the same model just different firmwares. The rest I don't remember. I saw it in these forums somewhere.
In terms of what forum you should use, it shouldn't matter on GSM devices, from my understanding. The firmware is cross-compatible even though the radios support different bands.
But don't take my word for it!!! Someone smarter than me will hopefully confirm.

I think you are talking about HTC One variants [U/UL/WL] which shows the differences among the M7 variants.
I believe the Rogers and ATT versions are extremely similar. I have the ATT version and have been flashing the International roms without issue.

Sorry I have a stupid question. Does Android Revolution HD count as an Int Rom?

Yes, although mike1986 did make arrangements for the variants during the install of the Rom within Aroma Installer.

thanks for the answers everyone
Okay! So, I wanted to find out if the HTC One Developer Edition would receive OTA updates directly from HTC (since we are after all not tied to any particular carrier). I had several discussion with the Support representatives. Note that I do not have the actual questions that I raised with me right now. So, I will just kinda summarize what I asked.
Here are the transcripts of those discussions:
1. Question: I recently purchased the HTC One 64 GB Developer Edition. I would like to know if the HTC One Developer Edition would also be receiving OTA updates as and when they taken place, like the other HTC One versions? Or would we who own the Developer Edition have to download them from your website htcdev.com
Srini, please keep in mind that every Software Update is thoroughly tested to ensure it will not cause any conflict with our HTC Sense User Interface, after tested the update is released to the carriers and the release is at their discretion.
Since your device is not carrier branded, you will be able to select the carrier of your choice and receive the updates directly from them, at the time they release it to their network. As well, your device comes with the bootloader unlocked you will be able to develop your own versions of the operating system on the device, or download them and install them on your HTC One.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Not sure what was the question I asked here. But here's the reply anyway...
Srini, having an unlocked bootloader does not affect the OTA capacities of a phone, this will only be affected at the time you Root and customize the ROM on your device.
Regarding the software updates released by the service providers, these are deployed to their customer base via OTA or RUU, taking into account that you will have to use your device with a service provider of your choice, at the time they deploy a software update you can verify on your phone doing the following:
1. Slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap Settings.
2. Tap About > Software updates. HTC One checks if updates are available.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Question: Would I not be receiving direct OTA updates from HTC? Why from carriers when I am not carrier dependent?
You will receive the updated directly from your carrier. Actually, we work closely with our carrier partners to ensure we deliver the best experience possible on our devices.
After internal testing, we test the software on live networks in order to confirm the experience matches our expectations, and carrier expectations, for performance, connectivity and platform stability. While testing takes time, we're working quickly with our carrier partners to rollout these updates.
Even if you have the developer edition, the carrier you choose will release the software updates when available.
What we might release at certain point is enhancements we have developed for your device, but for bigger software updates, you need to wait for your carrier.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Hello Jennifer, Thank you for your response. I understand that the carrier would be giving the software updates. But in my case, although I purchased the HTC Dev edition from US, I reside in India. So, what would happen in my case? What about the minor & major software upgrades? Would I receive them? Because here in India, the carriers are not involved in the update process, like they do in the US. Hence, this question - would I be able to receive OTA updates (both minor & major) from HTC directly?
If you will stay permanently in India, using your HTC One Developer Edition, the best option to be inform and have the latest updates is to stay tuned to our official website at: https://support.htc.com/en
In this website we will post the updates available for your device.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I cannot believe that HTC is redirecting me to a carrier for my updates. How is that even possible? Why should I be dependent on the carrier? Isn't that one of the main reasons for not purchasing a contract phone, so that I am not waiting (like forever) for the carrier's to send out their updates?
And I also checked out other forums on XDA and other forums throughout the web for similar questions. And I see that different people have received different answers. I just do not understand why HTC cannot have a single answer for this?
Does this mean we are forever dependent on http://www.htcdev.com???
Looking on HTCDev.com, it shows the Developer Edition as being linked to 'Brightstar US' and not HTC themselves so OTA updates will come from them. I could be wrong, though
HTC said that One Dev Edition will not receive OTA Update.
Because Dev don't need this and have an unlocked bootloader.
If some Dev need an HTC update, they can use a RUU
So, no chance of getting any sort of OTA for our Developer Edition?
Well - I guess all are wrong about this. At least most definitely, the HTC Customer service reps are. I initially got my HTC Dev version on 1.29.1540.3.
And I am happy to report that I just now got a System Update, upgrading it to 1.29.1540.16
Not sure what the improvements are though in this new version.
And thinking that i read that HTC said it will not release OTA update for Dev version, lol
Where can I purchase the developer edition 64 gb in black
HTC one X+ Elegancia V6.0
No. I didn't mean you guich. You were, after all, guided (or misguided) by HTC.
I meant it for those HTC reps who were untrained in this matter. What now angers me is that the those reps could've said we aren't trained or don't have any information about it....rather than misguiding customers.

This Software Enhancement provides the following enhancements / improvements for the HTC Desire 510:
Sprint Application updates:
Sprint Zone
Mobile ID
Visual Voicemail
Lumen Toolbar – (Lollipop MU following in 2015 This will be removed)
This update will also provide a fix to address the following post launch issue:
Some users may see a persistent notification message referring to a SMITH tool expiration – logging tool for HTC. This notification has zero impact on the usability of the device, but the message is confusing to the customer. This message will no longer be displayed with this MR
Software version is 1.47.652.1
This update is rolled out in batches
Refer to the Sprint HTC Desire 510 Software Update in Support for install instructions

Notice where it lists Lumen Toolbar it says (Lollipop MU following in 2015 This will be removed)
So Lumen Toolbar is no more following the Lollipop Material Update? (not sure what MU stands for but this is my guess)
never mind... deleted
Lollipop on desire 510
Not sure if this belongs here, but I accidentally posted it here so I apologize to the mod who has to move it.
I've found a couple links online with steps for installing lollipop on the desire 510. They reference the XDA forums but I cannot find any such thread. Can anyone tell me if this is true/works? I'm eager to get lollipop and don't want to wait for HTC to release if I don't have to, lol.
Relevant info:
" Upgrade/Update HTC Desire 510 to 5.0 Lollipop

Mod edit: Link removed
Thanks in advance to anyone able to shed some light on the situation.

Nope
No, man. It's false. Currently, the only ROMs that are available for this device are NonSense, RevMod, & CM11, and even CM is in an alpha state. Lollipop hasn't arrived for this device yet.
Thanks, figured it was too good to be true.

There was a leaked schedule saying which and when HTC phones will receive the lollipop update (or at least sense 7). It said the 510 will get it sometime around April. If not, most likely May or June.

that what I saw to 4th quarter. but hay who really knows but htc corp............
the link f... too many peolpe phone !!!
the link suck
It's a scam. You look at it and the 3 links all require you to sign up for a bogus product and by the look off it they charge you a lot for nothing.
If the devs here haven't succeeded yet why would we even think this crowd have done it 6 months ago
Yeah wouldn't trust that page myself. For starters they claim it's a lollipop ROM for the desire 510 but it doesn't exist according to htc's update page, second they claim they had re written a guide from here on xda, I don't recall ever seeing a guide about upgrading this device to lollipop anywhere, third they show screen shots of an aosp styled lollipop but this is an htc device which would have (most likely) sense 7 so either the screen shots are of a generic lollipop or just wrong, fourth the ROM size, multiple parts totaling nearly a gigabyte in size. Assuming the screen shots are correct there is no reason why the ROM should be that large.
Now as far as lollipop for our device and it's availability I did find a website which (among other info) states the following:
The Rest Of HTC's Stable...
“The Android Lollipop update looks as if it will spread throughout 2015,” reports Phone Probe, “with the higher-end devices receiving the update in the first half of the year. Of those expected to get the Lollipop treatment in Q1 of 2015 are the HTC One M8 and the HTC One M7. As expected, they get the update first.”
Q2 of 2015: One E8, Desire EYE, One M8 EYE, Butterfly 2.
Q3 of 2015: One Max, M7 Dual SIM, Desire 816, Desire 820u, One M8 Mini, One E8 China, One M8 EYE China.
Q4 of 2015: Desire 510, 610, 820s, and One Mini.

What I find funny is that Marshmallow will be out and popular before this phone even sees Lollipop. HTC's done it again.

This phone has seen Lollipop thanks to @r3pwn.. You just don't know how to install it.
HTC has already said that the Desire 510 won't be getting Lollipop.
HTC has already said that the desire won't be getting Lollipop:
PhoneNews .com / htc-confirms-desire-510-sprint-virgin-models-wont-get-lollipop-30689
(I'm sorry I can't post an outside link yet.)
So our only hope, as far as I've seen, so far is CM12 which is being worked on by r3pwn and rbheromax. Personally I'm watching with baited breath and occasionally testing what they have already released.
