Try Sony System Update. (not PC Companion). Google it.

Or just flash stock ftf using flashtool, then start again!
Had the same problems.... Solved it by removing dualecovery and installing twrp 2.4.3.0

Unlocked or locked bootloader?
If you are unlocked, here's the easiest way.
1. Download Advance Stock Kernel with Recovery v05 (FW: 10.1.1.A.1.253) (NEW) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167381
2. Download SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38154110&postcount=2
3. Copy SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip to your SD card.
4. unzip Advance Stock Kernel with Recovery v05 (FW: 10.1.1.A.1.253) (NEW), and extract boot.img.
5. use fastboot to push boot.img (Which contains CWM).
6. Reboot into recovery, and flash SuperSU-1.25-Busybox-1.20.2-UPDATE.zip from SD card.
You've got root.
i think its locked mate, i had it rooted at 434 version and now that i putted 253 version via flashing it erases root and i think that it locked bootloader, i dont know /;

*Follow the steps exactly and you will get back root with recovery. Not sure whether you have recovery in the first place as you didn't state.
No have any recoveries, just simple phone with the new firm
Xperia Z
Guess you need to downgrade first and ensure you have root, recovery before moving to the instructions which I have passed you earlier on.
Flash with .434 ftf, root and install dual recovery for locked bootloader. Goto CWRP recovery (volume down) and wipe only system install either of the available already rooted zip. dont wipe cache/dalvik cache. reboot. install supersu from play store and uninstall previously installed superuser app. thats it!
Root from stock Rom will be here soon just wait. If someone wants to root they have to downgrade and update again using a different Rom if u do that won't the phone be unbranded then meaning future ota or pcc Won't work or am I being daft ,

If need be, keep a copy of the branded/carrier FTF on your computer that you can flash back to if you need anything to do with warranty, easy. For now, Global unbranded seems to be the way.

Do I lost my programs when I do it this way?
Hello in need of some serious help my xperia z was rooted but with locked bootloader i tried to flash a app thru Teamwin it sent me into a boot loop so now all the phone does is flash team win then turn off and on it has a solid purple light any help will be appreciated and i will make a donation thru paypal for anyone that can help!!
Seems can be fixed very easy:
Either fire up PCC and choose repair phone.
Else download Flashtool, disable force driver signing and install the following drivers from Flashtool:
- Xperia Z
- Fastboot
- Flash mode
Then download a ftf with stock firmware, and Flash it using Flashtool.
Et voilá, your phone is back with the livings.
If you can't find a ftf, just ask me, i'll upload mine tomorrow.

While phone is in usb bootloader mode, type in cmd "fastboot erase Cache" and it should return to normal.
Btw: have you flashed anything that would make this happen? Like kernal or mods?

Read the op on how to install whatever mod you want to flash and make sure it's a flashable zip through recovery. The sound mod might have done it if you didn't install it right. I don't think you need a flash tool to flash the mod and you could have done it through your phone's recovery.

Please do not open new threads for something trivial like this.
It can be rooted, not directly but it's rootable.
You have million of threads with that subject.

What is THIS? > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711982 are you so lazy to find it?
3 steps > Downgrade to .534 via Flashtool, Install DualRecovery, then follow the steps from the link starting from the line How to Update to .757.
Still your Android 4.4 not rooted, then you are very lazy!
downgrade to 534 install beta or new dual recovery by Nut and directly flash 757 zip on your Z1 and do not reboot go back to main recovery screen and click reboot button~>power off and flash stripped 757 ftf via flashtool

hello everyone.I have rooted my xperia zr with towelroot and unlocked the bootloader using the flashtool. For some wierd reason i cant enter stock recovery on my phone. Its the c5502 variant. Can any other xperia zr users help me out with this issue?
Sony Xperia devices don’t ship with a pre-installed recovery. So unless you’ve installed a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP on your device, you won’t be able to boot into recovery mode.
You need to install custome one to enter recovery mod

easiest way to flash zip is to enter into recovery mode using volume up or down button.
restart the phone and when it vibrates for first time start pressing volume buttons. you will enter into recovery mode.
1st install custom recovery
2nd enter recovery mod using combo buttons
3d choose zip and flash
Just received my xperia z3 compact and it was on old 4.4.4.
first thing I did was root it with giefroot.
I'd like now to update it to the latest stock lollipop while keeping root, and being able to install a recovery to flash xposed.
any idea what's the best way to do this?
In the general section there is a thread on how to upgrade and retain root.
Simply: install recovery, create prerooted ftf file and flash it through recovery

Thanks.
Unfortunately I went ahead and decided to flash a 5.0.2 ftf with flashtool, it came back during the flash with a warning on system.sin
wouldn't boot anymore so now I'm waiting to do a restore via PC companion. (which will probably take me to 5.1.1)
I wonder why it failed.. second flash it fails withthe same warning on system.sin

You can just force reboot (Power + Volume Up) and then hold the volume down button to enter flash mode.
Download the 4.4.4 firmware ending in either 93 or 77 and then flash it using flashtools.
Then do the root + drm backup and then follow the instructions here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343
The newest 5.1.1 update came out and I messed up so I'm at where you are.
