Hey guys i recently installed a third party app for managing my wireless tethering activities. After using it a bit, i found the factory android manager to be better and decided to uninstall the third party app. After removing the app, i noticed that my wireless tethering no longer works and i have to resort to using usb or bluetooth tethering. My question is, is there a place that i can reset or reconfigure the wireless tether settings to get it working normally?
Thanks!

does this need to be installed on all computers i use? or as long as the phone has this app?
It says just Phone, but at&t blocked it so you can't see it from the app store.
You can install it from within the PC app.
You should be able to run it without a PC app via Bluetooth once the app is on the phone, but I havn't tried it.

Yea, was using it with my Backflop, then when I got the Aria I pushed the phone software down and it worked first time. I have NOT tried it with Bluetooth tethering, only with wired tethering. It works over the adb bridge, so it works on most android devices.
It appears as though tethering IS available without the need for any modifications to your Aria. Install Easy Tether via wifi without the sim card, and apparently it works (still waiting on mine from FedEx).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710593
Yup....works like a charm. Aria, new out of the box, removed SIM card, downloaded Easy Tether via wifi, and I'm on. Also, I was able to download all the apps that are "blocked" by ATT - no need for any crazy rooting or in depth programing. This is an amazing phone - very impressed so far.
As the title states, I'm having some trouble tethering off of my Hero. I use the stock USB Cable to my netbook, I have the application called "EasyTether Lite" which obviously is the free version of "EasyTether"...
Now I downloaded the computer application as they requested, and I have the application on my phone. It connects but drops the connection quite frequently, how can I tell if its the application or the phone? Can anyone suggest a new application (free preferably)?
Thank you in advance.
hey idk if your phone is rooted or not. but check out Wireless Tether. i think its free. but if you are wanting to conserve battery and have your phone wired. check out PdaNet.
its pretty awesome you dont have to change anything on the PC to get it to work. GL

Phone is rooted with CM6 RC51. I'm trying to remember how to reflash a more up to date version but I am scared to screw anything up haha.

+1. Wireless Tether from the Market is probably the easiest and best route to go, but you do need to be rooted.

I don't know about the release of cm your using, but CM supports USB tether natively. There is an option for it in settings, I think it is under the "wireless and network" settings, just use the checkbox, enable usb debugging and plug the USB into your netbook, it should find the network connection all by itself if the tether checkbox is checked.
I rooted my Captivate last night using Super One Click and the Youtube video from MobileTechVideos. I installed Titanium Backup and uninstalled all the bloatware along with Tethering Manager to allow for mobile hotspots. However, this morning I discovered I now have no 3G access and can only access the internet via my wireless network. I haven't come across anything online to suggest how to fix this problem. I've tried restarting my phone but this didn't work. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Any suggestions guys?

Use ODIN one click to go back to an out of the box state and see if the problem persists. If it does then it could be your hardware or AT&T's fault.

Sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. All I needed was to check Use Packet Data in the Mobile Network Settings. Thank you for the easy fix! I was getting ready to unroot and start again.

I am confused...by wireless network you mean like the one from your network(for eg: ATT) one right? your problem is that you are getting EGDE but not 3G? I am sorry I didnt get your problem.

Glad you did. anyway we are not perfect sometimes we may overlooked something due to excitement or what other feelings as a result of what we do and clouded up our troubleshooting instinct. The best way is to be calm and don't panic it's just part of being a rom flashaholic, overtime it will increase your confidence and skill.
Is there a wired tether app out there for use on our D3 that successfully works? I'm running the latest Gummy ROM.
I use Easy Tether and it works perfectly, am running stock rom. hope that helps
Have you tried the built in USB tether in the Wireless/Networks settings area?
Not certain about Gummy but most custom roms seem to have it working.
PDANet
I have been using PDAnet for more than a year, rooted, unrooted, stock ROM and it works well. Recently added a wi-fi feature. Reasonable cost to support the app.

Built in will not work unless you buy the service from Verizon. I use PDA Net. Works very well. My only complaint is that you have to enable USB debugging to make it work.

Try setting the USB to PC mode.
Also, make sure you have the drivers installed:
32 bit: http://www.mediafire.com/?71c12qc4a1svqza
64 bit: http://www.mediafire.com/?8rb7bpvp2b9vy2f
When you enable USB tether it should automatically initialize the Motorola virtual network adapter on your computer.
If you still do not see anything then it must not work with your rom and a 3rd party app would probably be easiest.

Once again, this WILL NOT WORK with a stock Droid 3. Assuming everything works properly, you will sort of get an Internet connection on the computer...sort of...But the only place it will take you is to a Verizon Wireless page telling you you "If you would like to subscribe to mobile Broadband Connect or 3G Mobile Hotspot call..." with a couple of phone numbers and also telling you that its an extra $20 per month for this service.

Yes. OP said he is running Gummy, not stock.
Verizon users report that this works on Eclipse and Maverick and they do not subscribe. It may or may not work on Gummy but it does not hurt to try.
It should work. It isn't too much different than CM9 or AOKP.

Hello All,
Looking for a solution to the title. Need to make my phone turn on WiFi HotSpot when it connects to the Bluetooth in my car. I tried this with Tasker and a guide I found online, but it fails and says error executing action: WiFi Tether.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
OP, I've tried to replicate the problem and it seems that the app doesn't have the proper permissions. Although all app permissions are enabled in the app settings, I think it's missing an additional permission. See screenshot below. You might want to contact support for the app to get the issue resolved.
As for a work around, it may be possible to do what you want with NFC stickers.

Yep, same thing I was getting. None of the automation apps for this particular scenario that exist on the Play Store work either. SecureSettings plugin for Tasker also will not enable WiFi Hotspot. Seems to be by design. I'm just going to go the NFC route since there is a particular spot I put my phone in the car every time. Thanks for the reply!

NFC will not turn on WiFi Tether it's an issue with the app not requesting the permission or Something with the Samsung Software. I had an LG G6 and it was working fine. The way I resolved my issue I use autoinput. Now it's working fine. see the attached:

Oh boy, looks tough. I'll mess with it and see what I can do. Would I still be able to get it to run this task when it detects that I connected to the BT in my car?
Thanks!

Yes. That would be the trigger. I have that on mine because I have an android headunit that like to have connected to the internet since I run waze, pandora and some other apps that require internet.

Sounds like the same implementation I have. Thanks for the help! So I would set the profile in tasker, and then the task would be what I put in AutoInput, right?
Thanks again!

I did it backward this time. I created the task first and then I create the profile. I use the state connect to BT to trigger the profile. Also it's very important that you enable smart lock, so your car BT can disable the lock screen and autoinput can do the job. You would need to buy the full version of autoinput since the lite version won't work.
