Which is the best style to calibrate my battery? I't only lasts for 10h.
10 hrs is pretty good
i only get 4 hours under heavy use
I forget which thread it was but it said to completely discharge until the phone switches off (ignore please plug in prompts) and completely charge it back up 5 times. It worked wonders on mine
4 hours? pah, i can kill mine in under an hour lol
seriously though, it all depends on usage and how much you have running on the phone (big widgets and social feeds for instance), screen brightness also has a big impact.
On average i get a day out of mine but my mums boyfriend, with the same phone uses it far less and has had 3 days from his on one charge
Ok i'll try your method. Thanks guys!
I have mine going down to 79% within half a day, only standby and frequent switching on of the screen, is it normal? Thanks!

So you mean discharge completely and recharge completely and repeat this 5 times?
What about the following method :

Just wanted to share that I got an improvement
after recalibrating the batery,
Basically just charge full with phone on
then turn off, charge, turn on, turn off, charge.
I advice this for those who have flashed the firmware..

So which one of these two methods is the right way to do it?
EDIT: And how good is this guide?
1. Run the device down until it turns itself off.
2. Turn it back on and wait for it to turn itself off again.
3. Remove the battery for 10 seconds.
4. Replace the battery, but leave the device off.
5. Charge the device until full and then for another hour.
6. Boot into recovery and reset battery stats (or, go to console and type “su” enter, followed by “rm /data/system/batterystats.bin”)
7. Run the device’s battery down until it turns itself off.
8. Charge to full while off.
9. Restart and use as normal.

IMHO, the battery stat is just pure witch doctor style..
Id recommend you use the phone till it drops down the 2% then power it off and charge it while its off.. that way it MAY take upto 4-5hrs charging when it says its full remove the battery for 1-2mins then install it again and charge it while unplugged its gonna charge for ~5mins and when its full disconnect the charger and power on the phone.. you just need to do this once ( on my experience ) and charge as often as possible since its not a good idea to keep draining lithium batteries

Do it this way:
Make the phone empty.
Charge it all night (8 hours + ).
While still charging, open applictaion: Terminal Emulator (it is available on the market for free)
Write:
su
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
it looks like that nothing really happens, but it does.
Reboote the phone. Important!
You will see the difference. I get from 1 day before to 3 days now.
For doing this, your phone, of course, should be rooted.

There's another method^^
I really don't know which one of the 4 battery calibration methods that I've mentioned above I should use?
I've read from many sources to not worry about frequent discharging/charging of your battery. The lithium-ion batteries we have in our phone will degrade based on cycles (when a certain number of charge cycles have been reached). As for overcharging, the phone is smart enough to stop charging once the battery is at 100%. The battery will slowly discharge, and once it hits a certain point between 93-98% it will start charging again.
As for which method works the best...I'm struggling with the same issue. Personally I've tried almost every method other than the reset battery stat (which I plan to do as a last resort).
I have found that the battery gets better after a few weeks of use. The full discharging/charging does help marginally. The turning on and off method of charging also helps marginally. The biggest culprit is usually background apps preventing your phone from properly sleeping or activating your data when your phone is locked. I was using juice defender and my battery still drained crazy. I JUST changed my juice defender to turn on data for 2 mins every 30 mins (as opposed to 1 every 15) and it seems to have made my battery better. Before I did this, my phone drained 40% in 6-7 hours (while i was sleeping). Right now... my phone has been active for 5h48min and is at 72% (a bit of texting, a bit of 3g, and wifi). Here's hoping it'll get better.
This thread helped a lot
My phone drained 70% of battery from 5am till 12pm (while I was asleep). When I saw the battery usage stats it said that Android OS draind 68% of the battery. I flashed the phone on sunday. I should do a calibration then, right?
I'm going to try this method:

I think there is a problem with my 3500 mah battery from sedio. I have had it for a few months now and it really wasnt what i expected. I had heard people who have had 2-3 days + battery life from one charge when i cant even get 24 hours on a single charge with out playing a game or using gps. Im running sky raiders 3.5 right now.
Is that bad? Should i try and get in contact with sedio? Any other tips.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
For example today:
13hrs since unplugged. 29%
awake 4.5 hours
That sucks right?

That is pretty bad. I'm at 12 hrs 50 mins since unplugged, 3 hrs 15 mins screen on, on stock battery. What kernel do you have?
Sent from my Droid Incredible running CM7 RC2.
I have to admit i am pretty new to all this stuff, just a couple of months in so i wouldnt know how to change my kernal but im sure i could figure it out if i had to.
Heres what i got:
There are all kinds of things you can do to extend your battery life but by far the simplest is to turn your screen down to quarter brightness and turn off the auto adjustment.
You need to reset your battery.
Step 1
charge the phone while turned off till the light turns green. Unplug but do not turn on then after about twenty or so seconds plug it back in and the light will be Orange again wait till its green.
Step 2
Once the charge light is green for a second time boot the phone into cwm and clear battery status. Make sure phone is still plugged in
Step 3
After you clear the batter status reboot the phone making sure that you do not unplug it . as soon as you're able to open up your app drawer once the phone has rebooted then unplug it.
Step 4
Do not charge your phone again until the battery dies and the phone shuts off.
After this you are done
Sent from my Incredible using XDA Premium App
For the longest time I was convinced the eBay-generic 3500mAH that came with the phone when I bought it online was faulty because it seemed I was getting identical results from my stock battery even after wiping battery stats. But now after running the battery for a week or so continuously and not swapping out to the stock battery it seems to yield much better life now that I calibrated the phone to this battery and left it in for a while.
My phone got weird battery problem
My phone is 2 yr old & battery replaced last yr
S Off using custom rom insertcoin senseven artmod
I think physically battery is ok
Problem is phone shows battery discharging very quickly
after that what I do
reset battery stats by power off or auto shut down by low battery then holding vol up & power button screen on till phone off again then start phone again it will shows increased battery %
For eg using phone for 10 hrs with 1 hr screen on time it discharge 100 to 0% then I reset battery stats & start phone again it will shows 65% battery
2 nd thing if I'm charging phone it wether phone on or off (let's assume 35% ) it's % not increased but it shows phone using more power after some time it will shows less battery (15%)but in reality phone is charging after resetting battery stats with above method it will shows correct %(55%)
I tried these methods to correct it
Flash stock firmware again unsuccessful
Flash stock ruu again unsuccessful
Also tried vol up + vol down + power button holding for 2 minutes to battery stats reset
What I should do ?
I count manually battery life it's above 24 hr with screen on time of 2.5 hr

Err! Strange could be battery problem but it's weird how clearing stats cures it temporarily.
Have you tried resetting USB host mode with Vol up+down + power for 2 mins?
Maybe charge to 100% in all modes (on, off and in recovery) wipe stats reset USB host mode and reboot and monitor.

Did you try to run your phone without rebooting to see how much it will last? Also, did you try another charger? Judging from your screenshots my guess is your battery is dying, but that would mean you couldn't get that much off charge and SOT to save your life. My battery is still pretty good, and I get just over 3 hours SOT and 36-48 hours off charge

ok let me explain screen shot
Anyhow I charged phone to 100% start it use it for 14-15 hr with 1-1.5 hr sot it goes to 0%
switched off or auto off
not charged
Battery stats reset with vol up + power button for 20 sec (it shows green HTC then goes off again)
Start phone again it shows 60% battery again (not charged )
Use 7-8 hrs with sot 1 hr approx
Goes to 0% again
Repeat process again shows battery 30-35% again
So this is screen shot history

That's a lot like my old Xperia X1. Turned out it was charge regulator issue. You might want to look that up. If I remember correctly, Xperia had that regulator on its motherboard. I changed it and everything was fine after that. I think M7's charge regulator is in the battery, so we're back to faulty battery. But that's just my opinion, you might want to monitor charging current to see if your phone is getting correct charge current

My sister's HTC One m7 battery is fine no issues
I think my phones motherboard can have some issues as in warranty period it's battery changed 2 times so it could be !!

Hello, I hope all of you are well and I can get a reply or suggestion from you guys for this.
I have a new P20Pro. Bought it on the end of October.
The battery life is absolutely great with almost two full days of usage.
The issue I got is this.
When I am using my phone and it comes on the last 10% of battery it staets droping by 2-3% immediately. So it will go from 10 to 7 and then 4 and then 2 and immediately shut down.
The whole thing would happen to 3-4 mins in total.
When it gets to 2-3% it says it will shut down in 30secs and never goes to the last 1% or 0%. The other thing that bothers me, connected with what I said before, is that when I connect it to the charger when it turns off completetly, usually starts charging from 2-3%, almost never starting from 0. Today for example turned down when it was 4% and started charging from 12%>
I have tried almost everything, recalibrating the battery, doing the charging cycle correctly, wiping the cache and factory resetting it and also chenging the settings but nothing seems to be working.
Any ideas please ?
What you describe is usually a battery problem on older phones and a new battery remedies that. Mine us also in a bit of hurry ti switch off below 15% so I make sure to keep my juice always relatively high. I might take it for replacement of battery in a few months to have a new one after 500-600 cycles [emoji4]
Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
Mine starts shutting down at 6% I think! It's caught me out a few times, thinking I had at least another 20 minutes.
I can't complain about the battery life though so no big deal really. Conversely when I unplug from a full night's charge it can stay at 100% for ages whilst using it.
I'm guessing either calibration is a bit off or EMUI is really going the extra mile to protect your battery from being damaged by draining too low.
almost 2 full days usage?
man I barely get one day, the battery is being drained quite quick
I just switched from OnePlus 5T to P20 Pro, and the battery life of the first is way ahead (and recharges much faster)
maybe there's a problem with my p20pro?

Hi!
Follow the below steps.
Phone manager>Do optimise>tap on battery icon>Optimise battery usage. And dont let any apps to run in background. Using auto start manager you can control the apps which are running in the background.
and please post the battery usage details and check which app is consuming more battery & kill the apps which are consuming more battery
Hopefully it would help.

Hi Thanks for your help
I will definitely do it and will keep yous updated
Meanwhile, let me bring something else: My phone doesn't supercharge. Even when I use the original cable + charger (and plugged straight into the wall) it doesn't fast charge. Doesn't display that it is being supercharged or something and it will take about 3 hours to finish charging.
This is a brand new phone which I got last week.
I used to have an OnePlus 5T which recharges pretty quick but this P20 Pro, although it is a beautiful phone, charges like my old Moto X.
Anything else I need to setup in order to enable supercharge?

When I use the original chargers from Huawei, it won't get past 1800mA
Then I went to visit a friend who got a Mate 20 Lite, he has a fast charger and I tested his in my p20pro and it went to ~2300mA (and then it displays in my phone "fast charge"). However, if we use on his phone, it will go more than 3500mA
The supercharger won't come by default in the box? I'm asking because when I got at home I checked the output of my recharger and it shows 4.5-5v -> 2A, it seems it isn't the fast/super charger
Hi there! What you have described with the battery percentage going to 3% and then immediately to 0% is an issue on ALL Huawei phones. I had previously owned a P10 LITE, a Honor 7C, Huawei P20 PRO and Mate 20 Pro. They all do this. I suspect it has something to do with the reserved battery percentage . It shuts down quickly so that it can keep 2 % and not drain completly. I do not know the benefit of this but all phones do it, however Huawei's software implementation is so poor that it actually displays wrong percentages. It has nothing to do with the battery being old. They do it straight out of the box and ufortunately do not know of any solution to this.
Just an update:
I had a chat with the store which sent me the phone and then they sent me the correct charger with supercharge.
Now it works well and on Ampere it shows 4.5A

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my P30PRO. Battery is not calibrated and the phone shut down at 2%. Have anyone the same problem? Any way to calibrate battery without root?
Thanks
On Huawei phones always shutdown at 2%. This is to preserve battery from complete discharge.
leaving your phone completely discharge ruins your battery. I never let it go less than 35-40%

By using this option though, have you seen the durability of the battery lasts for longer period of time? What is the best practice to keep the good performance of the battery? I used to charge my previous phones below 15% and after a year of use see the performance going down.

7 months with p20 pro and battery was as healthy as the first day(I m not sure if I would have the same performance in a year) . I used this method by reading some battery expert's article and I fount it make sense. Best way to keep battery as healthy as possible, charge until 95% and full charge once per month, never let it go less than 40%. I always fully charge mine though.

I have not asked how to save the battery. I was wondering why the phone shuts down at 2%. Huawei should fix it in some way recalibrating the % of the battery. The phone will shut down at 0% but the battery still have a little bit of power. It's a non sense to turn off the phone at 2%.

@Mindow Already answered you. It does that to prevent the battery from completely draining and ruining the battery. It's normal for Huawei phones. Now that you know it shuts down at 2%, don't let it go down till that. A simple google search can show you that almost almost all huawei phones shut down at 2% and it's not a calibration issue

Didn't meant to sound harsh but that's how it is mate. Anyways, if you're playing a game or watching a video , then it should only shut down at 0%. On regular use, it usually turns it off at 2% so that when you have an emergency and need to make a call, you can turn it on again and do so. I find it unnecessary but i guess they implemented that to prolong the battery life for long term usage. My p20 pro's battery was still amazing up to the day i sold it 2 months ago. Bought it when it launched. Consistently charging from 0% (fully discharged) will ruin the battery.

I find it unnecessary but i guess they implemented that to prolong the battery life for long term usage. My p20 pro's battery was still amazing up to the day i sold it 2 months ago. Bought it when it launched. Consistently charging from 0% (fully discharged) will ruin the battery.

You're wrong. When it turns off at 2% and I try to turn on the system says "The phone will shut down in 30 seconds". So no emergency call. Anyway a phone should turn off when indicator turns to 0% (even if there is 10% of power to preserve battery due to a battery health saving system).

People who own both S10+ and p30 pro said that the battery is way better on p30 pro. But I guess he doesn t care about battery life, he only care if it shut down at 0%.

Does it matter that much? 2% is life and death?
You asked a question and you've been answered numerous times, if it annoys you that much then just sell it.
2% ensures your phone doesn't die and crash in the middle of a shutdown, which could lead to corrupted data.
Servers connected to a UPS are configured the same way - they shutdown when reaching a critically low level, not when reaching 0%, as the server needs time to safely shutdown its services. The 0% of a new battery might no longer be the same 0% once the phone reaches 2+ years, so better to keep some safety margins there.
Just a tiny fact:
I used mate 10pro for full 2 years. Baterry is still holding as on his first day. If this is a criteria for Huawei phone, I'm more than satisfied.
Scientists have said between 80 and 60 percent is the ideal for battery longevity. 3 Times a year run it out completely so that it wont boot up and then fully charge to 100 percent without using it. This is supposed to calibrate the phone to the battery.. Then ideally keep the phone above 60% and below 80%. This is the first phone I have owned for many years that isnt rooted, calibrating is easy when your rooted its just a case of deleting a file to calibrate but this is not an option on non rooted androids.
