I've had a nice BT headset a Sony BT10CX which has always played music well. This week it only produced sound in the left ear. Fearing the worst I reset my VIII and the issue was still there. I sent the phones back thinking they were faulty and got a Jabra BT320s instead but the same problem is reproduced. After a bit of searching I've just installed the HTC Bluetooth hotfix which...hasn't changed a thing.
I've tried the Jabra with my v1615 and it works as it should. Any ideas?

Have you added any new apps or installed any tweaks just before it went wrong? Otherwise, backup your data and do a hard reset.
That's wht I feared. Pending any other suggestions I think that's the way to go.
Okay, on a plain T Mobile ROM the Jabra connects but now "Set as Wireless Stereo" doesn't even show up as an option, just "Set as Hands Free". I had both options before (even when sound was just coming from the left ear). Do you think this is a Hardware issue and therefore a repair/replacement needed?

Just one more thought, have you used 'Kaiser Tweaks'?
If you have, just de-select or disable 'Use Joint Stereo' in BT as this is designed to pass both Left and Right audio to a mono unit (for music over a single BT earpiece) but it has also been noticed to cause problems with certain stereo headsets.
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I have hard reset to a plain untweaked T Mob ROM and now have this issue.
I'm using BT-10CX with alex's tilt MM, sound comes from both ear, stereo; but i have another problem It can't connect to the tilt automatically when turn on after it is turn off!
Can your BT-10 connect to phone automatically once it turn on OR you have to go Start>Settings>Connections>Bluetooth and then set it as "Set as Wireless Stereo"? Tried all the ROMs (alex, Dutty v4, at&t Genuine, etc) and Schap's advance tools but the issue still there.
Any trouble shoot ideals? Great thanks.
I've always had to manually set it each time I've used it.
Okay, so lots of people have problems with their bluetooth. I am too. I have a JVC KW-XR810 car stereo and the bluetooth keeps shutting down on one or the other. My questions are:
Does anyone else have this stereo and problem? If so, whats the situation?
Is there a ROM that works flawlessly (or close to) with the bluetooth?
Its odd though, that my headset works perfectly and I didn't have many problems with another stereo I've used. Makes me wonder if its the stereo or the phone. Still, many others have bluetooth problems with this phone...
Thanks for any responses.

My last 3 phones (including this one) have all worked flawlessly with my Sony MEX-BT3700 head unit. Phone calls, BT dialing, streaming music, all work perfectly.
Yep, same here - AT&T replaced my Captivate under warranty about 2 or 3 weeks ago due to the random shut-down issue. Took the new one home, installed Froyo, and rooted it. Everything works well, except lately I've been getting frequent bluetooth disconnects from my car stereo (Pioneer AVIC-X920BT).
The usual pattern seems to be it's good for about one call, and then shortly after ending that call, I notice that they are no longer connected. I usually turn off BT on the phone (seems to take a while to terminate) and then turn it back on, but it will usually only be good for a single call. It's been frustrating, and I'm leaning toward the problem being on the phone side, since that's where there have been recent changes.
Must be a problem with Stock Froyo. Glad I'm not using it.
I've had this issue with certain roms I was running. I have a Kenwood KDC-X993. So far on CM7 it stayed connected.

i have the same (or similar) problem with my OEM headunit on a VW Golf. BT randomly disconnects but my music (pandora) still plays through the BT stereo, unless I stop it. Then its completely disconnected and I'll have to reconnect the phone to the car.
annoying but I just deal with it.
I'm running Paragon 6 and have a Dual head unit. I haven't had any disconnect issues, my problem is the crappy Pandora app.

Same here, I have a Parrot mki system in my car, but I found a workaround that I hope works for you too:
Unpair with the device, and when you re-pair it, when it asks you to synchronize contacts, do not let it. It will bug you every time it connects, but just ignore the requests.
I haven't had a single disconnect since doing this weeks ago.
I've read about the contacts request from other users but it doesn't happen with mine. Another thing, when I lose the connection and I turn off bt one the phone out shuts off. Completely. Pushing the power button does nothing. Holding the volume up and power buttons together for a few seconds seems to restart it but theres no animation. Just the lock screen, media scanner, etc. Maybe its restarting on its own and the button pushing has nothing to do with it. Also, I listened to my bt headset for hours last night with no probs at alI. Idk. Is bt different for head units? I thought it all used the same protocals.
So it seems that its not my head unit, but the phone. Are there any good solutions for us?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
My head unit never asks to download contacts. Could it be that some do because they store that info in order to identify and announce incoming calls? That would mean there's more going on than just a simple BT connection.
Yeah. One post I read said something about it using a data connection the hu for contacts. I have no idea what he was talking about though.

The only purpose I can see for this is if the head unit has an integrated nav system. That would allow you to bring up a contact as a nav target independent of the phone.
Okay, gettinging back to my original questions. So far we've established that this is endemic to the captivate, mostly. There have been two replies saying that cm7 and paragon 6 have stable bt connections with head units. I read in another post that axura works as well. This is so frustrating that I'm just about willng to learn how to flash this thing.

We have? My first post says I have zero issues with this on my head unit with my phone on Eclair, Froyo and now Andromeda. If it is a phone issue mine is not suffering from it. Sounds more like it has something to do with head units that store contact data. Mine apparently doesn't.
Hmmm.
Yet in your second post you posited that it must be a Froyo issue.
Regardless of whether it is the phone or OS, a lot of Captivate owners seem to have bt issues of one kind or another with various devices. Maybe this is just a bt issue in general that everyone deals with (not just Captivate owners) and I'm just being sensitive because I haven't had much bt exposure.
Any help is appreciated here. I'm just looking for suggestions on what to do short of buying a new phone or head unit. It would be great if other users experiencing this problem would benefit from the discussion as well.
So far it appears that flashing a different ROM may be a solution but which one? Is there any way to change only the bt stack?
Sorry if that sounded short, but I'm REALLY frustrated with this.
My hu will store contacts as most do these days, but it doesn't ask for them. I don't think the problem is related to the contacts. I guess its just a random incompatibility thing.
I said it "might" be a problem with stock Froyo. I didn't see it the 3 days I was running it and my current ROM is Froyo-based and working without issue. The only other variable I can see is that others posting problems have reported having to deny access to contacts, something my head unit never asks for, in order to get it to work. That would appear to indicate the difference is in the head units and not the phones, but unless I could connect to one of these other head units to verify, I'm only guessing. Sorry.
i notice that if I toggle the bluetooth on my phone right before connecting it to my car, it works flawlessly
Installed a Kenwood X994 and had all kinds of issues with BT. Worked for awhile but would never auto connect. Only vehicle and area where I had BT issues. I realized it was due to the downloading of contacts at every connect. sometimes it would download than immediately disconnect. frustrating. Was on serendipity, Tried a native Cappy ROM, Cognition and now Phoenix..
The unit has the Parrot system in it so it should be ok. Finally decided to update the Firmware on the HU. So far so good. I like the contact download so I don't need to use the phone at all to make a call. Receiving calls is no problem.
Will test further tomorrow.
BTW I have a BT Garmin mounted in the truck and used it before getting the head unit. no problems connecting. The only issue with that was a delay between pressing the call button and the call being made. Hanging up was an issue as well.
Here is what I see:
1. 1st time pairing - Both phone and media audio work fine.
2. Next time whenever I would get in the car: Nothing connects automatically. I try to connect manually from the phone, and it takes a while, and media audio connects. Phone audio fails.
3. Now if I go to advanced options and uncheck and re-check phone audio, it seems to connect most of the time.
4. If I unpair and delete the phone from the car's memory, and do it all over, it works for the first time, same as above.
Phone is running stock HTC stuff, no root etc.
Car is Subaru Impreza 2011.
My HTC Aria used to connect both phone and media automatically each time flawlessly. (Running CM6 and 7, <never got a chance to try with stock )
Any pointers would be great!
Thanks
Might be a car problem. My last 2010 VW GTI had a finicky bluetooth. You could stream audio and take calls, but if you walk out of range of the BT while the car is on and walk back in range it won't connect until I reset the head unit. However in my 2011 BMW, I can walk out of range and it instantly connects to my phone when I'm back in range. Connects every time without a flaw (even though I did have some occasionally difficulty with my iphone and bluetooth in the BMW)
I have exactly the same problem as described by the op. Not sure what to do but I don't talk much on the phone so it's not that big of a problem for me. If it was the other way around it would be much bigger problem. Anyone has suggestions? I woud like to make it work as it should.

For you also, does nothing connect by itself? I'd be somewhat happy if atleast media connected automatically
Once we have a good permanent root solution I'll play with tasker to see if I can create a workaround...but this sucks!

I have a Rogers Raider and it works really well with my Kia Sorento. I think it is the vehicle or both. Both meaning compatibility issue. I had a Samsung Vibrant (i-9000) and it worked but sometimes it doesn't connect and always seems to upload my address book which takes a long time. With this Raider, it works like a charm. The Raider works before and after root.
Did you check your vehicle Bluetooth vehicle compatibility chart? They might have one.

I have a 2010 Hyundai Sante Fe (similar to the Sorento). After initially pairing my Vivid to the car's bluetooth, the two have always connected, reagrdless of whether I turn on BT before or after I get in the car. I also had no problem with the old HTC HD2 (WM6x) and the Santa Fe's bluetooth.
Have you tried un-pairing the phone and car and re-pairing?
Everything works fine with mine too. I have a Toyota with BlueLogic. I used to have this problem with my old device, Motorola Atrix, didn't connect most of the times. I checked many forums and I found out it is a Gingerbread problem, with Froyo everything worked flawlessly.

I have a Subaru impreza 2011 which has Bluetooth in it, and I just bought an htc rezound. I run all my music via Bluetooth so this is a pressing issue... I checked my phone with a Bluetooth headset and it acts just like its supposed to. Any suggestions?

My only hope is that the BT libs of CM9 will do some magic
What's CM9?
Mine seems to automatically connect just fine. However from time to time, very few times, the sound won't work right off the bat. If I press the volume rocket it will play a sound. Sometimes I have to press it twice then the sound will come through the speakers and music will play just fine. It's strange and quirky, but eh. Lol so if you're suck without sound, try to adjust your ringer volume to stimulate the sounds before repairing. See if that works.

Hello Everyone I am here to find some answers (hopefully)...
So I got the HTC One Coming from the Iphone 5. I've had numerous Android devices before, and apple products. I just recently also purchased a subaru wrx, it has bluetooth radio. When I had my iphone 5, i synced perfectly with the radio, hands free worked Awesome. When i got into the car my spotify or pandora would immediately start playing..
Now i get my htc one, and i pair my phone with the car, but my hands free audio sounds terrible, i can barely understand what the other person is saying. On top of that i have to manually connect the phone to bluetooth everytime i turn on my car, its very annoying. I have tried many different roms, and kernels, and i even went back to stock but i can't seem what the problem is. I am about to change the radio in the car thinking its not very user friendly with android devices.
If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be awesome. I am pulling my hairs, i love the htc one, but i miss my handsfree bluetooth functionality. I have tried searching the forums, but i haven't found any answers that worked.
I am having the same issue with having to manually confirm the Bluetooth connection in my car. Mines on a Toyota 86 with the GPS in dash, I believe it's made by eclipse who supply Subaru?

I have to manually connect each time to my bluetooth nakamichi speaker.
I too am having same issues. I also have a 2011 WRX with original radio. With my prior phone (GS2) I connected without problem and automatically every time I started the car. I have to manually connect the HTC one every time. Many others seem to not have this problem with other vehicles, so I'm starting to think it's the Subaru radio not playing nice with the phone. Please post if you find a solution.

I had similar problems in my car with an alpine radio, but with my galaxy s3.
In fact the thing is that when you register a phone on your radio (in my case) the radio just looks for the first one defined and registered to autoconnect.
Now, if in your radio you clear registered devices list, and try to register your htc, i am pretty convinced that it will autoconnect all the time.
Hope it helps,
Regards,
Nicolas.
My HTCone synched immediately with the OEM bluetooth in my 2011 Kia Forte. No problema, in fact, it is a much better connection (clarity) than with the old EVO 4g, which initially required a bit of fiddling to make work. Hands free phone call system on the KIA works very well too. FWIW.

Thanks for that. I sorted out how to BTconnect my HTCone<--> Macbook, but could only do so, one file at a time. The app you mentioned works great (!) and allows me to push multiple files at ne time. Reviews say it is also a great file manager, that I have yet to determine but if so, an added bonus.
I am also having a problem with the HTC One bluetooth in my car. The phone connects to the car’s bluetooth system, pairs properly, although very slow, it uploads the phone book and call history. The problem is the call quality. The people I am calling complain about the sound, they feel the volume is too high and this distorts the sound, as well as there is too much noise added to the voice, or something like that. As soon as I switch to the phone speaker the sound that they hear gets better. This makes me think the bluetooth on this phone sucks. One person suggested the interaction between the noise canceling and main microphone is mixed up, but if I am using my car's sound system it should not use the phone's microphones anyway, or maybe it does? I guess what I am trying to say is that when I am using the car's stereo it should use only the car's microphones and speakers , but sound like the phone noise canceling microphone is still active.
If anybody has ideas for fixes, or suggestion for further tests, I will do it.
P.S. I didn't have any problems with my car's bluetooth with my iPhone 4 or Nexus 4.
Same for me. Sometimes the problem disappears. I assume the problem comes from the BTstack. In fact, the one is the only Android phone I know that use a different BT stack than blueZ. This stack is HTC one. It allows us having avrcp 1.3 (The name of the song displayed on our car audio). I hope the HTC one Google edition use blueZ stack. I will try a Rom based ion that. If the problem disappears, it will confirm the problem come from HTC stack.

I am having the same issue...I had the Motorola Atrix 4g and it paired immediately with my Pioneer deck. That phone always reconnected and like you mentioned, pulled up Pandora etc. Now I have the HTC One, and it paired and connected but it refuses to play audio. Handsfree works (kinda sloppily, also like you mentioned), but the Media Audio portion doesn't work even though the phone reports that it is connected. My stereo says no device detected when I switch to BT Audio. I hope you find a resolution to this issue, I have searched everywhere and of course I saved the best for last and decided to finally check here @ XDA.
I posted earlier in the thread that I was having difficulties pairing my One with my Subaru WRX factory radio. I could not get it to automatically connect with the phone each time I started the car. I could manually get it to connect but that was a pain every time I got in the car. I was able to solve my issue by deleting every other pairing the radio had with other prior phones. I deleted any pairing my One had previously and then paired it with the car radio before any other device. It now connects regularly every time I start the car, and both audio and phone functions work perfectly. I would recommend anyone having blue-tooth issues to try the same. The Subaru radio also had a weird menu system that was different whether I was pairing the phone by using voice commands or trying to do it with physical buttons on the radio. Very confusing but going through the hands free voice command menu seemed to pair both audio and phone functions, where I could only pair audio functions when using the physical buttons on the radio. Seemed like two different systems.
Been having crappy noise issues with my 09 Acura TSX. I emailed HTC regarding this problem but, of course, their response was to 'check with the car manufacturer'. Will try that method and see how it goes.
My problem is a bit different. My htc One connects flawlessly with my JVC unit that too automatically. But it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. And that is a major issue. The phone also gets insanely hot in this process and today the OS crashed two times and i had to do a Hard Reset.
I am coming from an iPhone 5 on which bluetooth streaming was flawless.
Anyway to stop the auto-disconnect and re-connect going on.
My Bluetooth is mess up.
It can pair up, but the Address Book is not showing up on the car screen menu now. I don't know what happened. When I play music on my phone to the Bluetooth in the car, it is silence.
Does anyone know what is going on?
HTC One Bluetooth Problem in BMW
I am having the same problem.
My HTC One connects, I can make calls from the phone and the calls are clear, but I cannot see my contacts.
I have emailed HTC and they say it is the car (BMW 5 series). I have checked with BMW and there isn't an update for my car available. I am therefore, using the latest software. I previously used the HTC sensation which worked fine in the same car.
I am wondering if one could install an older version of the Bluetooth and A2DP software as the those on the HTC One do not work in my car and I cannot see BMW developing any updates and if they did, the cost could be as much as the phone.
Would appreciate any help

Look out for the message BMW wants......................... contacts
Select yes
Wait for the contacts to load, this took a couple of minutes at least.

Been trying to find out for the longest time the definite set of codecs that the One supports over bluetooth. Besides SBC and AptX, does it also support MP3 and AAC??
The reason I'm asking is that I'm coming from a (company supplied) iphone and have been generally very happy with the bluetooth audio quality to my car's audio system (Audi) and Bose Soundlink Mini speaker. I know for sure the iphone supports AAC and due to the quality suspect it is used in both cases.
The Bose at least does *not* support AptX, however getting a definite codec list for the Bose is also impossible. I only managed to find buried in the offfical bluetooth certification pages that it is a BT2.1 device.
Why do all these manufacturer's hide this documentation?
Very disappointed to find out that the Bose Soundlink Mini negotiates a link with the HTC One using SBC...
These are both premium devices for which top dollars are paid, and they still shovel this **** on me.
I'm not sure on where to place the blame here, HTC for only(???) supporting AptX next to SBC, or Bose for only supporting SBC(???)
As mentioned, both are not transparent in their devices capabilities - isn't there an app to find out these things?
Beats is at least more clear: "Bluetooth 2.1 audio and supports SBC, aptX, AAC Codecs for high quality streaming"
Hello,
I just started having problems playing audio from my 2013 Moto X (XT1060 stock KitKat 4.4.4 on Verizon) to my car (2010 Ford Escape with Sync). Bluetooth is working, because I can make and receive a phone call through the car. I just can't get any audio to play, from apps like Google Play Music and BeyondPod. It looks like it is playing in the app because the time slider moves through the track. But no sound comes out of the car speakers or the phone speaker. Headphones work fine, and out of the car when not connected to bluetooth, the audio will play through the phone speaker. It also works with a little bluetooth speaker I have, so I know bluetooth audio does work.
Things I've tried:
Unpair the phone from the menu in the car, then re-pair.
Unpair from the phone, then re-pair.
Reboot the phone (multiple times).
Checked the bluetooth settings for Sync. Under "profiles" both "Phone audio" and "Media audio" are listed and both are checked.
The only recent change that I can think of that might have affected is that I paired my phone yesterday to my new Amazon Echo. Then today no audio in the car. So I also un-paired the Echo, and even removed the Echo app from my phone. But still no audio working in the car.
Any ideas of anything else I can try? Is there some system app that needs to have it's cache and/or data cleared? The only other thing I can think of would be to factory reset my phone, but I hate to go there. It would be a major PITA to get my phone set up again. When I get back home tonight, I'll try it in my wife's car, which also has Sync.

Yes it was something to do with Sync. I went to syncmyride.com, and found an update to the Sync software in my car. So I went through the process of downloading it to a flash drive, and updating the system. And now I can stream audio over bluetooth again.
After the update loaded, it said it was rebooting the system, which took a long time, like 10 minutes. Which makes me wonder if I had been able to force it to reboot, if that might have solved my problem without the need to update. I'm pretty sure it has never done a full reboot like that since I first bought the car back in '10.
Oh well, it works now and I'm a happy android again. Just thought I'd leave this here in case it helps someone else in the future.
