Yeah I tried it, but the diff's did not work, so I abandoned this project.
As I have PowerToggles installed, I have now an extended menu, this is a good workaround.

So I been trying to root my phone for about an hour now. I rooted, un-rooted then rooted again, and it seems to have work (obviously you can't tell when your phone is rooted, but oh well). I'm kind of a noob in the Droid 3 section, but then I went to the Market place and downloaded the "ROM Manager", downloaded the CM9 recovery, and had the app boot into recovery but to my surprise, it doesn't work for some reason. I don't under what else I can do, am I rooted? Do I need to manually install CM9 recovery? I just want ICS on my phone, and this is driving me crazy.

Do you have Super User app on your phone ?
Yup. I do, I have no idea where it came from though.
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium
Does it open? Look up the thread for boot two roms at once in the genreal section. Follow that and you will have ICS. You should wait tho, as a new build will be up tonight for ics.

Yup, it opens and shows the applications that I allow, does this mean that I'm rooted for sure? I'll definitely wait for the new ICS rom tonight, just want to make sure if I can boot into recovery. I tried using the "X" and power button but it just gives me the triangle with the "!" logo inside.

I believe in the droid 3...you hold the Power + M for recovery. Not the X.
Root checker is an app that will tell you if you are rooted. You need to either install the droid 3 bootstrap or safestrap to get cwm recovery.

Its kind of either or.
You can hold Power + M, and use the volume keys to select recovery, or you can hold Power + X and it will go to recovery as well.

It gave ya the right screen. But that takes you to the stock recovery. To install roms you will need Clockworkmod Recovery or Safestrap Recovery.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA premium
Go with safestrap. Especially if you're new to this.

Well for me from manager doesn't work.. the recovery it installs does not start from app... never tried other way . Uninstaled RM and installed only hashcode's safestrap so you don't need to start in recovery.: it will give you the option to open the cwm menu from boot by pressing menu button when prompted and if nothing done then start normally..
:in hashcode's blog are: instructions for flashing cm9 with safestrap
Good look

This is only possible if you were to build stock rom from source.

Well, basically I need to edit the android-policy.jar, framework.jar and framework-res.apk, then add the CMscreenshot.apk in system/app and the screenshot file in system/bin.
But I personally lost a bit with the code to edit the files.
One example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692080 but only and option screenshot.
Two example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176927 but not as a port to s5830
three example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845603 but extras options and only power menu without screenshot
You mean you want to add screen shot option to power menu?
Insert witty sentence here
Yes, and add the submenu to reboot options
Not very easily. Just use power toggles from the play store. It uses the same method music players use for controlling music from the notification bar to allow you to toggle most power options.

Good idea!
But my biggest problem is the lack of this type of programming language.

Well we can easily port stuff from cm7
Look at the all in one mods by parasmi
He ported the toggles
And lockscreens from cm7

For somebody with experience guess it will be easy, I personally I have it harder.
But I will continue comparing code and learning.
Well I managed to use the code [MOD] ALL-in-1 Mod for Stock Firmwares (XWKT7 and DDKQ8) **LOCKSCREEN MUSIC CONTROL** to put in ktm, but still need to add the screenshot and return the data network option.
I have only compared code, then I have done a copy and paste
If someone wants to try here it is:
EPM_CM_KTM
Full credit for parasmi, Thanks
Hey guy's just found out how to get recovery mode on my phone. Download ROM TOOLBOX PRO, then go rom management, then press reboot recovery button, it will install it for you. You must have Root though. Please let me know if it works on on your phones.

The lite version works fine
That's great, hope it helps other people too.

yes it works! but how to go backward in the menu of this recovery?
Hold volume up, Home, and power button for a few seconds then reboot system again in the menu. It works just tried it.

Is there any mod available to remove 3 dot menu and assign it to some button? I tried looking in forum but didnt found anything.

install a custom 4.2.2 sense rom or a kernel with those options
Actually dont want to install any rom.... Just looking for a mod, if there is, any....
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
are you on 4.2
Xposed mod will give you long press back for menu and hide the 3 dot menu.
But I must say it doesn't work all the time.
Then there is logo2menu hack but you need a custom kernel.
Also try pie control from the market. Then you can swipe the side of the screen for the menu. Use pie control with the Xposed hack.

if it is for stock ROM i will ask why you would need to do that?
I have the same question, is a bit tricky to press home and power button to take a Screenshot everytime, and im om Stockrom becuase i like it =P
i have a rooted SIII Mini, there is a way to add the Screenshot menu ?
Yes it is possible but no one's gonna bother with that cause most of us are using Vanilla version of Android.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=how to add screenshot to power menu 4.1.2
just used the search and this is what i found
i can help you to do it, but i won't be adding this feature to any of my work
It is hard to make flashable zip or addon to our device specially all stock rom base?,i think it is a good feature.
