Guys I have the c6603 model running 10.3..a.0.423...i live in india but got the phone from australia and its telstra branded. the phone has been running well until a few weeks back i started noticing the battery level going down faster than usual...i am not a heavy app user...and in the battery settings, i have noticed that "android system" is using up almost 70-80% of d battery...the rest like 'screen', android os etc. only 5-10%...this has resulted in the phone lasting hardly a day even on minimal usage. So, could anyone tell me why is the phone acting like this ? what could be the possible reason for the android system using this much battery.
Any help would be appreciated.
Well. What i can suggest I have the same sort of issue. Disabled facebook app et al problem fixed.
Well if you want dig a bit deaper then instal app so called "wakelock detector "-> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en
Hope it will help!:fingers-crossed:
I'm a quite heavy user. I hadn't ever turned stamina mode off since I got the phone. Been using it for a few days with stamina mode off and the battery seems to be way better. When there's a hour or more wherein I won't use the phone I put stamina mode on.

There is a problem with the latest google services framework so that it eats your battery as long as you have location services enabled. So deal with the battery drain or disable location services

Here is your answer! FB is an piece of **** coded app, that is useless on non-rooted phones (Greenify is an must for even using FB app so you can terminate the app after each session).
I had the same problem with battery. I deleted fb with titanium backup and installed friends caster. With location services on and green power premium. I have two days of juce now. No greenify or other apps just green power set to switch off data and WiFi at night and during the day switch it on for 1min every 30 min. Of course when the screen is on I have the data constantly on. No games just websites, music, Tapatalk, Gmail and phone calls plus occasional Facebook browersing using friends caster.

I have just received my phone back from the Sony Repair Centre and seem to be suffering the same issue only more acute. The battery drain is so fast that I can't even charge it unless it is totally switched off, even with the screen off a no apps running it will only charge 8% overnight and with the screen on that 8% will drain in a few minutes.

Newest stock or not?
I'm not sure, it's a C6603, if that helps. I only got the phone originally in about July and it stopped working, wouldn't switch on or respond to any input. They returned it to me working, albeit with the SIM missing, but it had 44% charge, so I put it on charge. It actually seems to be getting worse, I've now switched it off in an effort to get it to charge faster, but having been on charge for several hours it's only up to 56% from 22%, I would guess that's in 7 hours.
Attention!
Guys I just came across this battery issue with samsung s3 users. They have this file "gsiff_daemon" which is giving them battery problems same as ours. the file comes under the name of Android System. Have a look at it and read about it on google. They have a post about it on xda as well.
So I checked if I could locate it in our Z's and maybe rename it or do something, but I wasn't able to locate it even after using ES File explorer. Maybe it is present under some other name and is probably the reason our "Android System" is using up 70-80% of the battery life.
I request some advanced users here to look into the problem and see if they can help us.
Background process limit
Hi all,
Trying this (Background process limit), i think will work, because now i see a lot of more processes in background than in previous releases ( wasting our batery and internet conection..)
I had the same issue in upgrade in a previous release and i solved activating the limitation of background process .
I am trying this solution now
To limitated, go into developer options
Then the 2 option beggining by the end , Background process limit.
I have put 2 process at most

okey ill give it a try & tell u if it works or not have a gud day
Please don't mess with the background process limit. It will have a negative effect on your phone's multitasking and will not increase battery life at all. In fact, it may decrease battery life because cached processes will be regularly removed from RAM and have to reload themselves.
The option is in the developer options for a reason. You shouldn't be touching anything in there if you don't understand what it is.
It's sad to see uninformed nonsense like that posted here when this is supposed to be a place for people to learn how their phone works. ?

I don't think so. Battery is a big improvement for me. I can get 7hours screen on a day with my mobile data which is always on. Maybe i can save more battery if i'm using wifi.

Open Settings>More>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names ,then open the access point for your service provider
and make sure that the "Proxy" is Not set ,which means that there is no numbers there.
i was facing the same problem and it was solved by this way.
and about the battery draining ,i haven't faced this issue so far ,i think you coul factory reset your device and try to calibrate your battery ,cuz for me the battery has been improved from 4.2 to 4.3
battery is a great improvement on 4.3 .. you can try flash via flashtool 4.3 ftf . it worked for me.. no issues and like i said.. battery on 4.3 is better then previous versions of android..
Unfortunately, I must disagree on this...
My ZR, which is old 10 days and upgraded to 4.3 works like a piece of **** (sorry, I'm rather nervous already).
Over night and when everything is off (BT,WF,MD, all processes that can be stopped), draining of the battery is 2% per hour. When in use for calling or just setting something, it drains 1% on each 5-6 minutes!
When surfing via WiFi it drains 1% every 3 minutes!
Now, comparing with my previous Nokia E7 where battery of 1200mAh lasts for 3-5 days regardless of usage, this ZR with battery of 2300mAh and Android 4.3 - sucks!
Bro root your phone and unlock your bootloader and put cm11 you will have the best battery backup regardless of use age

It charges very slow.. I used to charge using my laptop USB.. I kept around 2 hours and charge increased only around 20%.. It was fast in Kitkat.
Oh. Im glad im not the only one facing this. Any solution or we may have to wait for a bugfix?

I tried with Both USA and TW Firmware.. Even tried after full reset.. Still same issue.. I think we have to wait for bug fix or any work around solution ..
I am using the US version, not rooted everything stock. When I installed I faced very heavy drain, even with a charger the battery was going down. After a few reboots everything is back to normal. Battery life is nearly identical to kitkat.
Attaching the screenshots, I am getting more than 4 hours SOT easily with wifi on all the time.

Hey guys,
I think I might have a problem here, I did OTA update over 10.5.1.A.0.283, got 10.6.A.0.454. Everything seems to be working fine, the system is quite smooth, yet battery life is worse than it was!
Cell standby and the OS seem to be consuming way to much battery, my reception isn't perfect, yet I checked in Cell standby and signal loss is at 0%.
I do have STAMINA on, yet according to CPU Spy the phone never goes into Deep Sleep. Isn't that suspicious?
You'll find a few screenshots attached to this post to give you an idea what I'm talking about. I'll try to flash the full rom today and see if it helps, while I'm typing this message FlashTool is creating an FTF file so that I can flash it later. I'll keep you posted.
Also, if anybody needs the FTF file, here's the torrent file link:

From my point of view, it totally depends whether you did an OTA update or flash the new ROM. In my case, I have the Deep Sleep state active for a lot of time, and here's the screenshot:
Did you make a factory reset before/after flashing? Most time this helps.
Think the scan location when wifi is off option (in wifi setting) has effect on the google play service.
Also I am testing what exactly that stamina clock option within stamnia setting does. It seems it affects the battery in a not necessarily good way.
This is annoying. Sony includes all these features that are basically rubbish...

Hi,
I installed lollipop onto my ZR via the PC Companion a week ago, and I used a clean install (repair). My battery life is very bad compared to kitkat. I don't use my phone often, mostly it is in standby mode with mobile data enabled and stamina mode enabled (I added a few applications to stamina mode white list: gmail, facebook messanger, etc.). With kit-kat I had to charge my phone every 3 day, but now I have to charge it every day!!! this is 3 times worse than kitkat. If I check under power management - battery usage, I see a few apps have several hours of 'mobile radio active' (mostly gmail, chrome).
I have searched for this on internet, it looks like it is an lollipop related issue and not a sony related issue. Lollipop has this issue since 6 months now , and they didn't do anything to fix this (there are tons of forums posts about this on reddit, and on other places). I have the feeling Android is getting worse in every new version, and Google hire the most ****tiest developers of all time. They don't even answer to the thousands of user complaints of this issue. I will never touch an android phone in the future.

65% battery drainon me too. 35% at best. i went back to kitkat. if it were google services or something i could have done something but cell standby?? nothing to do about it. just buggy software. unless sony pushes an update (not anytime soon, if ever) or a developer fixes the problem there is no solution.
Me too same problem
Check your screen on time, as you can see in my screens it shows the same, but if I check Screen it shows similar or better values than 4.x.
It is common in various 5.0 phones to show data like that.
Someone above already pointed out that it is just showing that your phone is connected to a mobile network which allows you to make/receive calls
Sony could mask that number which will have 0 impact on battery life. If you think being connected to a mobile network doesn't consume battery because in your previous roms that number was masked then nothing Sony can do about it...

After do 2 time hard reset and i don't have this problem anymore ^^ you guys should try it ^^
Mobile radio active is a known bug of Lollipop mobile data connection especially in 4G/LTE.
I'm using C6603 with Sony official Lollipop 5.0.2 ROM, please check my screenshots, disable mobile data then reboot your phone and only connect to WiFi, you'll find the usage time of mobile radio active doesn't increase and there is no battery consumption issue of cell standby even mobile network is connected.
However if you turn off WiFi and connect to mobile data especially 4G/LTE, use it for a while then turn off the mobile data, the usage time of mobile radio active will continue increase and it drains your battery even you close the phone mobile data and connect it to WiFi hotspot.
I don't know why mobile radio active is still be activated and drains lots of battery after I close the mobile data connection. My phone doesn't have this issue if I closed mobile data in 2G/3G mode. In 2G/3G internet mode, the usage time of mobile radio active stop increase if I close mobile data.
I have a temporally solution of this issue:
After you finish using 4G internet mobile data and want to switch back to WIFi connection:
1. Turn on flight mode
2. Close internet mobile data
3. Turn on WiFi then turn off flight mode
The usage time of mobile radio active doesn't increase anymore and there will be not power consumption issue of Cell standby.
I'm appreciated if developer can help to explain and provide possible solution for this issue.
This is a major lollipop bug do a google search on mobile radio active bug and you will see it affects many people across different devices and firmware.
I have had it on both cm12 and now stock but I have to say the actual battery drain on stock is much less.
I found that once mobile data connects the mobile radio active timers never really stop properly so cell standby can show a massively incorrect value suggesting that the system is not returning the mobile radio to it's lower power level.
I have a crap data plan so only enable data when I want to use it, but now on lollipop once I enable it cell standby will work it's way to the top of my battery stats with an insane mobile radio active time. Yet on a day when I stay home and I am connected to WiFi and never use mobile data I get no entry at all for mobile radio active in cell standby and absolutely no battery drain.
Clearing the apps you used (browser, email etc) can also help reduce the drain but the timers still continue.
The name itself is so misleading because mobile radio active can be mistaken for the time your phone has been connected to your provider which it does not represent rather showing the time an app or the system has used your mobile data connection.

it's not an un-masked feature that wasn't shown before. battery drain is real. in my first two days of using lollipop on z everything was ok, but then sometime i lost 25% of battery as i was sleeping (with everything off and cell standby on gsm only). you probably haven't encountered the problem, but it's sadly real. and no factory reset can solve it, i've done 2 and installed lollipop on a wiped data/cache/system phone....

Try installing better battery stats and see what is preventing the phone from going into deep sleep. You said you didn't encounter the problem in the first two days so something has changed which is causing excessive drain.

of course i installed better battery stats and wakelock detector. they didn't show anything new, just the mobile radio battery drain. not all bugs can be solved and this is one of them. you can't do anything about a faulty recognition of hardware... hopefully an update rolls out sometime soon, if ever.
Does Sony ever test any firmware before bringing it out? With 5 days of testing one would already discover this.... Like the fact that the Z gets Lollipop, bu you end up with a no use phone...
If you have bad mobile signal, then battery consumption will be higher. Also % doesn't show how much battery is consumed but how much % of all apps consumption is taken by this app. Cell standby consumption will be high only if you didn't use phone (other apps) a lot.

I guess Huawei missed something in their otherwise very good battery management system on this phone.
To those having issues with draining, you should remove facebook and facebook messenger.
They have managed to give the background processes that slip through battery management systems.
Even when one check in battery monitors like gsam, one see only Android system as the culprit whereas facebook is the one causing the wakelocks.
This keeps happening to me and in my country there's no update available, i even contacted the support and they told me there's no update just yet, altought I don't understand how that can be.
I'll try uninstalling facebook and messenger but is such a pain in the ass since I actually use those a lot.
Thanks, I'll keep posting.

Yes I use both messenger and facebook along with some apps like youtube , some banking apps + some wallpaper apps . Nothing too special .
Mine max is 2hrs SOT. Can't even last a day. Facebook and WhatsApp is the main culprit, sometimes it's Google play service running because there are apps update in playstore, but funny thing is even if I turn on auto update in playstore it will still hanging there not updating which cause it to wake the device all the while eating battery in the background. I don't have those issue with my previous Samsung s7 edge, battery size both are quite similar... Can only blame it on the huawei firmware is not as optimize as other brands..
I love the phone but if it can't allow me to use my favourite apps and need me to constantly charge my phone, it will be a big turn off..

Hi All,
i experience similar things. the wifi is always showing battery is used, but the thing is that is turned off! wifi, 3g and Bluetooth are completely turned off, but battery is drained by it.
Anybody knows why wifi cannot be turned off or what else could keep it active?
I'm on VTR-L29C432B151
I'm currently showing SOT of 5h 1m with 20% battery left. This is L09 running B171 firmware.
BT is off unless I need it, but wifi and 4g are on all the time.
