Anyone else getting really bad idle battery life? I'm not sure if it's viperROM, but I drain about 3-4% per hour and there's no wake
lock issue.
I only have 4 things in my Google account being syncd, and I'm on Wi-Fi 99 percent of the time

According to the Battery thread in this forum, some people experience a high overnight battery drain, and some get a low one.
I am currently a member of the high club. For battery testing, I have most things turned off, like location services and google now. Last night overnight drain (8 hours) took the battery from 76% to 58%... 18%. On my previous phone, the HTC One, the overnight drain would be around 6%.
I am curious about the people who are getting low (~5%) overnight drains. Do they all have Wifi off? What is their secret?! Do tell.

Install better battery stats to monitor what's going on. I think the one night I left it off charge over night I lost maybe 6-8% but I slept for like 10+ hours. This is with google now on, gps on, wifi on.
What i'm testing now that I think will actually improve batt life is having wifi turn off when display is off (unless plugged in). I think I noticed less idle drain at home when I did this but it was temporary. Giving it a shot over a few days now.
I leave wifi on and I get less than 5% drain. Nothing syncs when my screen is off except notification weather pro every two hours and Yahoo weather

Personally I think the X and new droids have idle drain issues. Even when better battery stats shows nearly 100% deep sleep overnight, I still lose 8-10%. In comparison, on my HTC One mini, which is setup EXACTLY the same as my X in terms of installed apps, syncing accounts, running services, etc., I lose only 2-3% overnight. The number of people complaining about the issue seems to confirm it is more widespread than on other recent phones, as do the countless screenshots showing unusually high android OS usage in battery stats.

I honestly believe it will be patched with the Camera.
I'm having the same issue. People are reporting crazy battery stats with like 20+ hours of use 2+ hours of screen on and like 20% battery left. I get MAYBE 12 hours of use and 2 hours of screen on and 20-25% left. My mediaserver is keeping the phone awake for almost an hour+ each day, and without root I can't figure out how to stop it. I always have GPS/Google Now/Bluetooth off, too.
I thought the drain was related to Wifi. But last night WiFi was turned off for the night and I still got 18% battery drain in about 8 hours.
Wifi at home and overnight. I get about 5% drain... however, the wifi at work kills my phones battery with the wlan wakelock.
Maybe there is something going on with the X and certain wifi networks?

Interesting theory but my overnight idle drain was approximately the same on both LTE and WiFi. 10-15%.

How about turning off all radios (flight mode) and observe battery drain at night. Then turning wifi while on flight mode the next night and see the battery drain and so on until you can pin point what causes the most drain.

is there any battery drain issue with note 5 on MM or auto shut off at certain % ?
as far as I can tell it doesnt auto-shut itself down at a certain %. I dont really get it to 0%, but I had to see how long it would last and so I drained it till 0% with no issues.
however the battery life on MM isnt too good, I mean I can get to about 4 - 4,5 hours of screen on time, but if I turn on the wifi router it goes down drastically.
one thing you should try is turning off the google location history.
12 hours Standby Drain at 0.7% per hour
My 1 year old Note5 Duos has no major issues with battery so far.
12 hours Standby Drain at 0.7% per hour
Ive read that the autoshutdown is builtin to avoid further issue. though on the batt drain, i have the same issue. can you check if you encounter the same with 3g or wifi. supposedly the known issue with the MM upgrade is on the 4g/LTE connection. it would overheat and batterydrains quickly. 100% to 15% in less than 30mins
the battery is having really bad battery life 100% to 95% in just 25 mins with almost no ussage please help andi think this is some wake lock issue.
So my first Note 8 had draining problems which seemed to somehow fix itself with every other cycle. I replaced it with my current Note 8, which had really great battery life for a week. Yesterday, it started draining randomly at 3%++ on idle. I didn't download any new apps. I didn't change anything at all. According to GSAM, it just says it's from app usage, but I'm not using the phone and all apps are closed.
In Settings|Device Maintenance, you can find a list of apps that are draining the battery.
What does GSAM report for deep-sleep percentage?
Do you have AOD turned on? Many are reporting excessive battery drain from it.
I have found this useful on more than one occasion. It will give you deeper insight into what's going on, than the battery monitor in the phone.

Another vote to look at disabling AOD.
I checked my battery stats yesterday and it was the top consumer after 5 hours of work. I didn't use my phone much - there was about an hour of SOT, but the AOD seems to be taking way more than 1% an hour - more like 4-5% an hour in my case.
I do hope that they fix this issue in an update. I'd like to use AOD, but not at the expense of that much battery life per hour. I guess when they're testing their software, they don't test battery drain.
I wonder why the AOD draining more. I don't ever remember seeing AOD using battery on my S7E. I love the AOD but i have it set on a schedule. ifi leave it on all day it consumes 5-6% battery.
Chiming in to say AOD was the culprit for me as well. I was losing as much as 5% an hour on AOD. Just not optimized. I had it on all the time using my S8+ and it didn't drain more than 6% for a whole day which is something I can live with.
I don't have AoD turned on, but it's also not disabled. It's still active, but I can disable it with BK Disabler.

It doesn't list anything in particular that is draining it, which is why I'm having so much trouble finding out the issue. My old Note 8 would drain for 3% per hour and then after a charge or two, it would go back to normal. This time, it hasn't reverted back to normal yet.
For deep sleep and light sleep, they're both around 40-something percent.
For several years, my Note 4 would end the day at 75% to 80% charge with light usage - one or two quick calls and checking a few texts.
About 6 weeks ago, something changed. With the same usage pattern, in the same locations, the battery is now at 35-40% at the end of the day.
I though the battery was at fault and bought a new one, but have exactly the same pattern.
I bought "Better Battery Stats" app to see what's going on. The summary stats shows Deep Sleep 76% and Awake Screen Off 23%. Interestingly, Wi-Fi On and Wi-Fi Running are both 100%. I have not made any changes to Wi-Fi, Apps or other settings.
Under Kernel Wakelock, PowerManagerServiceWakeloks is 14%, and "bluesleep" is 10%.
Under Partial Wakelock, the highest is bluedroid_timer at 3%
Under Alarms, com.googleandriod.gms is 57%.
Does anyone have suggestions on where to look to find the root cause issue?
