Hi all, Got a Desire HD and a radio control helicopter (Trex 500).
Would like to be able to look at the heli in flight with the camera (in video mode is ok) and see what speed the rotors are spinning at.
All that's required is a method of adjusting the camera shutter speed while pointing at the heli until the blades look stationary. (Maybe use the volume rocker for adjustment)
Also a little routine to put the revolution figures on screen.
The heli blades should spin at about 2700rpm but for a wider variety of helis, would like to read a range from about 1900 to 3200 rpm.
A shutter harmonic frequency could be used as I dont think the shutter can operate at these speeds.
There are units available that use this method... But the mobile phone with camera already has the hardware needed. Just need a little bit of programming, I'm guessing.
If anyone can help i'm sure there would be a lot of interest from various fields....
Feedback on the idea welcome.....

Im here to ask for you guys what phone should i buy,my X8 will complete 1 year and he needs some holidays. So,i've been looking for the Mini Pro and Neo V,they have the same price, basically the same hardware,so,i dont know which one to choose...
-Mini Pro
-QWERTY keyboard
-More Compact
-Small Screen
-Neo V
-Big Screen
-More feature for video Recording
-Slim
-No QWERTY (but with a bigger screen maybe its easier to write)
Any Sugestions?Remembering that i probably'll buy one of these two,or at least one SE,other models and brands suggestions are welcome anyway!
Thanks and sorry for my bad english!
I would go for Neo V, just because i got used to touch screen writing, and with android, its even easier with apps for drawing/writing like Touch-PAL, it makes sending messagges, emails, facebook comments, etc. Very easy.
And i prefer bigger screens also
Goodbye!
I prefer old neo rather than neo V, neo have more thread on development section than neo V.

I also preffer NEO V
I think it depends of your taste, talking about screen size mainly.
I used Xperia X10 and it's wonderful to have a big screen, videos, images and pics look awesome; the problem with it was its size, very big to take it easily in your pocket or your shirt pocket, for example. In contrast, small
phones (with small screens) are more practic, the problem here is the difficult to type fast... Kinda hard.
Neo/Neo V is the better option because I think this phone is well balanced between screen size and phone size. I used one and looks amazing, and it fits well in my hand and my pocket. So, I recommend to go fot it, as I will.
But Xperia Ray is a good option too, if you want a phone as small as X8 but even thinner. Honestly, since I've using X8 I began to love small sizes, and now I think big phones are ridiculous That's why Neo and Ray are perfect, in my opinion.
Im thinking to go with ray. My real intention was neo,but coz i want to buy a laptop too,i'll go with ray.it got almost the same specs as neo n its stylish

+1 stylish.
Not to mention its pixel density and 8MP Camera. I prefer Ray. But note the lack HDMI port of Ray.

Thanks for everyone,i make up my mind,my next phone willl be Neo V!
About Ray,i think its beatifull too, bout its too small for me the screen on landscape mode, plus, its hard too find were i live!
About Neo (8MP) here the price diferrence is too big ,and i really dont need a 8mp camera,5mp will be fine!
Thanks again my friends!

You must go for Xperia neo v. My friends have all xperia phones. But between neo v and Xperia mini it will be better to go for Xperia neo v. Much better than xperia mini....
Don't make mistakes Neo V is best.
Mini pro thicker among all Xperia model... because of the slide out keyboard. Better go for bigger screen... or get Xperia pro

Instead those two
I'll suggest SE Xperia Ray it has 300dpi screen

does anyone know if NFS hot pursuit will work nicely with xperia ray.? i mean, does the on-screen button will work fine or we must press somewhere else for the button to work like in our x8?

You can use Teamviewer QS, install this in Galaxy Camera
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.quicksupport.market.samsung
Install TeamViewer for Remote Control in Note 2
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.teamviewer.market.mobile
Then Launch in Camera, Type the number in Note 2, you may control ur camera right now. Of course you need data connection (wifi/3g) . I tried it works. but the camera in note 2 screen will be a bit large, u cant view the whole preview (need scroll) , better make sure the position of camera is right. hope this help.
Thanks, this kind of works but the sessions time out too quickly and the cursor idea is fiddly. I use a free app called 'Camera Remote' on the Play Store. Again there are a few instability problems but until the official Samsung Remote app becomes compatible then it's the best we can do.

instead of posting "awesome" pictures this phone takes, can we face it that the camera is not one of the best and maybe somebody can help modify some values in order to fix it? if one uses motorola stock camera for example it is obvious that it takes way better pictures than the stock camera our phone comes with, especially in low light environments. thanks!

It's not one of the best and neither has anyone claimed it to be the best. It takes decent quality pictures. And frankly for the price it sells it has
a pretty good performace to cost ratio. If you want bette camera's you should look at HTC One, Xperia Z which have better sensors in them.
Picture quality is mostly dependent on sensor used and not much can be done by changing couple of values here and there.
On a side note, Vic Gundotra has said they are planning something big with camera's. So lets wait and watch what they do.
Have you tried using her mode for low light

[REQ] search before posting
Camera video quality increase (AVC profile high! & level 4) (kernel included!)
Speaker + camera quality.
[TIP] Camera color temperature
NEXUS 4 Camera Issue.. Same as Iphone5
Just because you typed [REQ] at the front of your thread doesn't make it any different than the dozen or so camera threads that already exist.

I have the Asus Remote Camera app installed on my phone, but it doesn't appear on my Zenwatch 3 (which is running the latest stock firmware). Does anyone know if there's a way of getting this app to work on the Zenwatch, as I really miss the remote shutter feature.

The camera app that comes with the watch is no longer compatible it's too old.
If you want a excellent Remote Camera app for the watch here is the
playstore link for "Wear Camera":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ua.makeev.wearcamera&hl=en
This is the best one, it not only lets you see thru it's "virtual" viewfinder but it
also let's you take videos as well as snapshots and has many other features.
Good luck, have a great day!

Thanks for that. The app seems the work well on the Zenwatch. The only feature that it lacks compared to the Asus Remote Camera app, and it's quite a big one, is the ability to take a photo by turning your wrist. This is unbelievably useful if you're holding the phone with your arm outstretched (e.g. a selfie or an overhead shot), as in that situation you don't have a spare hand available to press the shutter on the watch! I've submitted it as a feature suggestion to the developer.
