[Q] Buzzing in the Dock - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I charge my phone over night in the Sony dock, using a 500ma charger, I wake up in the morning with the phone fully charged but it's buzzing a little. Moving the screen, unlocking it, swiping etc effect the buzzing noise, it gets louder, changes pitch etc.
Anyone else experiencing this feature ?

It's the same here

I think somewhere else I've read the same. So many of todays electronic devices make buzzing noises, it's unbelievable..the Sony dock, my printer, lcd screen, even the toothbrush!

High pitched noise when charging

Anyone else noticed a high pitched noise when charging Xperia? It's not loud, it is in fact hardly noticeable, but when charging it on the night cabin by the bed it gets very very annoying. The noise coincides with the leds flashing. The only way I could stop the strange noise was to disable the flashing of the LEDs.
My X1 is in charge now and I have no strange sound...
Maybe.. Maybe Not

Are you sure its not your charger jondalar?? mine makes a funky high pitched noise, i think its something to do with the transformer and/or the automatic power switch on the charging unit for wen the phones battery is full up, wrap ur phone in a sock. lol. It might quieten it down at least. have a good day!
No, I can confirm this too. High pitched noise when charging during the short led flash.
I have flashed my device about fifty times with different custom ROMs and this did happen to me on one of them. I don't remember which one it was.
It is not normal as far as I know.
My device makes no noise now when charging.
Mine started to do the sound a few weeks ago, and I know more people with Xperia chargers making the sound.
Best regards
Yes, everytime the leds flashes it makes an electric sound when charging.
Like nnn....nnnn...nnnn..
EDIT: Oh, have you guys encountered the ear damaging PiiiP-sound when the xperia gets no phone/GSM signal this when the sound is turned off.

Exactly! Electric-metal--ish, hightension---ish (more like zzzzz.......zzzzz.....zzzzzz) sound everytime the led flashes. Strange. Well at least there's an easy solution to it: just turn off LED flashing, problem solved.
As for the other thing you mentioned... not yet, but LOL man I am soooo gonna try it! LOL

Z1 slight static when listening to people on ear piece.

Hi All,
I have a slight static noise when listening to people during phone calls with my Z1. I just want to know as it used to be a crystal clear phone, one of the clearest I have had.
Does anyone else have this problem with their Z1's?
Also a stupid question, I didn't realise I had a faulty USB cable, and a couple of days ago when I was charging my phone the charge was dropping when I touched the cable, so power to phone was off, then on, off, and on before I removed the cable.
Everything else in phone is okay, signal is fine. This wouldn't of done anything?
Thank you,

I have the same issue, and I find mines to be very clear for sound quality. I sometimes have the static issue and hear an occasion reverb when in a call, not a major bummer for me since I rarely call. I yeh, I had my charging drop often when I first got my phone.

Thank you,
I don't mind it if it is the norm. As long as my phone isn't faulty. I would think it would stuff the battery if anything?

Hi. I have a brand new Z1 and I'm hearing a slight clicking sound when on a call. It's not there via the headset or hands free speaker.
Is this the noise you are speaking about? Did you ever find a solution?

Hi,
Sorry for late reply.
I still get it, and yes. I only get it if I am on the phone. Corded headset, loudspeaker or bluetooth headset no problems. I haven't found a solution. I think it is a known issue across the board. Weird thing is I don't always get it.

Me too, when I use the loud speaker, BT or corded headset it's not there .. The important thing to note is that it's not a good thing to have a mobile phone resting against your head for prolonged periods of time .. So it's really not a big deal to me.

Speaker Crackle/Rattle

Has anyone observed speaker crackling above mid-volume? My top speaker has a buzzier character that gets more noticeable as you play louder and bassier/fuller sounds. I'm not sure if it's crackling or something rattling inside the case. The lower speaker sounds clear and normal.
I have this as well.

Same
Mine doesn't
I made a short recording to show what I mean. The sample is from plugging in my magnetic cable a couple of times. The charging sound is particularly annoying to hear crackling.
I may have to send my unit back to Clove for warranty service. Bummer.
I have the same issue, and yes, it is the charging sound that is the most annoying, it sounds exactly the same as yours, is if something is loose inside and vibrates.
Until now I was willing to live with it since apart from that I love this device... until yesterday evening that is, when I realized that also the gyroscope calibration is way off (when trying to play Doodle Jump) and there doesn't seem to be a way to do a system-level calibration of that thing anymore. There used to be in older Xperia models in the service menu. Now I'm thinking of sending it back, which I really would rather not, having already configured everything to my liking...

[Q] Strange noise

There is some strange noise coming from my watch. It's similar to the noise comming from headset connected to pc. Is it ok or I should start to worry?

Nope, it makes this noise constantly.
Since it has no speaker (correct me if I'm wrong) the only noise could come from your charger.
First, let others test if they hear the strange sound, too, maybe you heard it once and made it up then (no offense )
Do a factory reset (I don't think I changes something, but to be sure)
If it keeps happening, consider returning it for warranty.

Returning it to warranty is not possible. Right now I'm able to hear that sound(it comes from the bottom-right side of the watch). And factory reset didn't help.
Update: Looks like sound comes only when watch is "sleeping"
The only moving part is the vibration motor, something must be wrong / damaged if it's going off for no reason.

If I put the back of mine up to my ear, I can hear a faint high pitched electrical whine. I too only hear it when watch goes to ambient mode.
Some part of the power system (the watch needs to convert voltage from the battery to several different levels for the electronics & display) oscillates at frequency that is inside of the frequency range humans can hear. I don't know very much about electronics (as you can clearly tell by my explanation), but I'm pretty sure it is "expected" - that's just how it works. Many electronic devices that need to convert voltage levels do the same thing - try to put your ear close to your phone charger, for example.
Sizzling sound when awake
Hi, I have a GWR that recently came back from the LG service center because of display problems: image would continually move and sometimes
had white noise. They changed the motherboard (proven by the new Serial Number ) and it seems like working fine.
But when I put it close to my ear I started hearing a faint sizzling/buzzing sound inside it.
After playing around a little I discovered that I can only hear it when the screen in on (but not when booting up), and only when I use a watch face which displays some data not just the time. Sometimes it seems to be louder when it's connecting to the phone after it's been disconnected.
I think the sound is heard only when the watch is actively using the bluetooth connection, it's the only case that fits.
What should I do, the watch works fine, but what can this sound be ? Could it be dangerous, maybe battery related, can it explode ?
Thanks for any suggestions.
What's the serial number of your watch (you can see ti in Settings -> About)? Maybe it's related.
Mine is 502KP...
sometimes electronic devices with no moving parts generate hisses. (something like sound effect used in movies for showing electric current). i guess it's not important. you can definitely hear it on your charger too.

Xperia Z C6603 no sound from loudspeaker

Hi. I've got an Xperia Z here that I managed to get a good deal on because it doesn't play sound from the loudspeaker. Everything else works absolutely perfect including the headphone port. I've tried putting the board in another z and it still refused to produce sound through that loudspeaker too and another board in this z made it play sound. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? I know when stuff like that happened psps years ago they had little fuses you could bridge but I can't find any info at all about the z motherboard.
For anyone that's interested it turns out it actually is playing sound but at an extremely low volume level to the stage where you can just barely hear it if you hold it right to your ear.
