After creating a link, these apps still show up on internal memory using 12.25 MB, 12.92MB and 8.28 MB memory respectively. No effect at all. I have followed the exact steps. If i move them to SD card, it frees up some space but i believe that is not what is recommended?
Need someone's help to fix it. I have searched internet and they all talk about the same steps but does not seems to work. My phone is samsung ace S5830.

i have about 70 apps installed with link2sd and 63mb free space... what i doo ? here's the step:
1- after installing a rom configure link2sd and choose link auto
2- install EVERY app on internal memory and after link, if some goes to sdcard move it to internal and after that you can create a link
3- sometimes i go to link2sd>menu button>more: relink all apk files, relink all lib files, link dalvik cache and clean dalvik cache
PS: after you link a apk if want to see the real free space you'll need to reboot the phone... Link2sd is a great app i think thats better than int2ext scripts but you need to learn how to use correctly, with time you get it !!

Hey every one,
Yesterday i rooted my phone using superoneclick (running android 2.2.1) because i was getting sick of the fact that my memory was running full.
After that i did this:
Deleted facebook to make space for link2sd (have no seccond partition)
Installed link2sd,
Moved apps to sd.
Installed facebook on sd,
Go with my root file manager into /data/dalvik-cache/ and deleted everything inside there (50 mb) but after rebooting my phone the memory starts filling itself again and my dalvik cache was full again.
What can i do to make my memory free? Im havin 12 mb free now, but thats not enoug....
And also, is it safe to move apps like calander to sd?

as you are saying you have root then download a2sd froyo root open the app select the data storage as external then you can move almost all apps to external memory but it will also not leave many storage for you I will recommend you to first upgrade to gingerbread then partition your sdcard and use link2sd

Ooh. Eeerm.... Yeaaah... Well, see. Im not the smartest here...
Oke, i looked into data/data and therr was a lot of junk in from apps i already uninstalled, almost 10 mb! I deleted that and deleted dalvik, than rebooted and now 154 mb free!!!
I installed install manager, but.. What do i need to do with it? Link 2 sd i used to set install location and moved some apps. That did a lot for me. I always wanted a game, but that was 50 mb, and that will never fitt on the internel memory, but it only could on internel, now its on sd, and working great

Titanium Backup FTW!!!
So, I used titanium backup to move some things from the internal memory to the sd card. It worked fine as now I have about 20-30 mb free on internal. and this is good.
Also, a 2 Gb sd card is ok, but a larger one would be perfect . I have a 2 Gb now and I'll need a larger one soon ).
Also I uninstalled all useless apps like: Facebook, Twitter etc ) All useless social apps, the park is much better also the school.
That's all I know. Hope it helps u somehow.

If you want keep using your stock rom you can use Doc_cheilvenerdi.org boot.img that can change our sams mount partition /data to sdext. :good:
Meeeh, stock rom sucks and is slow. I prefer cyanogenmod 7.2

First of all, i have a S5830i rooted, odexed phone. I have linked ALL my apps to SD via Link2SD app.
I used to have around 100mb free but after a few days that became 90mb. I thought to try a wipe dalvik cache and after the reboot i had 78mb free!
I saw in many other screenshots that there are people with 130+ or even 150+ mb of free space internal memory.
How do they achieve that? Why i have only 78mb of free internal memory while i don't have any apps installed there?
I hope someone can assist me with that.

you are not clear with your question
u saw people have 15 mb free.. and when you have 78 mb free. you should be happy
i'm sorry i misstyped i mean 150mb not 15... 78mb free space seems too low since i don't have any apps installed in my internal storage.
As far as i know, Not all app data is copied to sd card with link 2sd. Did u think about trying a Script like "cronmod" or amarullz? Or s2e app which is, in my opinion, better than link2sd.

Link2sd moves apps apk, dalvik-cache dex, and libraries lib to the partition. Data of apps stay on internal /data.
Wiping dalvik cache (from recovery for example, or with adb) causes link2sd to loose the symbolic links used to store data, which messes up your app's location in a pretty nasty way.
Open link2sd, filter your linked apps, select all of them with menu > multi select > select all, then link app+dex+lib. If there were parts of an app that weren't linked this fixes it. Reboot. Also from link2sd clean app cache.
Finally, check your data/local address with a root explorer and make sure there aren't copies of apk files you already linked. If there are copies, delete them, reboot.
Edit: moving /data of apps to the partition frees up more memory, but lowers performance, specially with sdcards class 6 and below, and partitions which are ext2 or fat32.

Before i start, lotss of respect and millions of thanks for all the developers for their beautiful ROMs and everyone who are providing with brilliant solutions for almost every problem.
I'm totally new and this is the first time i am typing over here. Please forgive any noob mistakes that i might be doing and i'll make sure the same doesn't happen twice.
Since last couple of weeks i have started exploring my mini and i found the following issue.
At first, i used link2sd on ext2 partitioned sd card (as suggested by a link2sd tutorial) while using stock gingerbread(2.3.6) rom and was successful in installing over 90+ apps with still about 112 mb free in the internal memory.
Everything was smooth and was working fine.
Later, i flashed this Rom "cm-10.1-20130310-NIGHTLY-tass" onto my device and used ext4 partitioned sd card.
I opened link2sd and after specifying the external partition as ext4 and after rebooting the device, i got a warning message telling that link2sd failed to mount the ext4 disk. It instructed that i must reboot and try again.
After the reboot, link2sd detected ext4 partition.
But soon after filling the device with about 78 apps, the internal memory reduced to 60 mb. Also, in between while rebooting, in order to link all the files successfully onto sd ext, few apps would disappear.
Every time at boot the system mentions low internal memory and that some apps would not be working.
Boot takes a lot of time too (about 3-4 minutes).
I am linking dalvik-cache file, application file and the library file
Is there anything that i must and must not do?
Can ext4 partition be used on the mentioned ROM?
Is there any compatibility issue with link2sd on this ROM?
Kindly provide me with any feedback/suggestions.

The only soln to this is flash the rom again and any scirpts like crossbreeder and then flash Int2extn4+
this script moves all your app data to extn. il have installed 20 apps and my internal memory is 1GB
give a try, search in themes and app section(thread by Ashu.bigsmoke) :good:
why d you install so many apps, install apps that are important.
i use lastest antibillos' rom, no partition sdcard, i just move my apps to sdcard using link2sd. i still got almost 30mb on internal memory. i actually can increase the empty space on it, due to some apps which are not recommended to be moved to sdcard, so i didnt move it. by 30mb on my internal, my phone is smooth, this rom is really suit my phone.
well, backinup your apps and restore em whenever you need, uninstall when it is rarely used, is another choice.

Will definitely try as per your suggestions and will report my observation..
I was observing that the /data/app folder consisted of actual application files even though i had linked them.
I deleted all the files from that particular folder and linked the applications again. Now i can see about 80mb free.. However, during boot i still get low memory alarm and the internal memory will be almost nil for few minutes. I guess the ext4 partition is not read during boot.
Why's that happening?
I presumed that ext4 partition would be read during boot.

I read about int2ext4+ and i got to know that we need to have 100mb free internal memory for 500mb of ext4 space!!
I currently use about 1.4gb for ext4, this technique makes it impossible for me to use even 500mb of ext4 partitioned space!!
What's the need for 100 mb free space for every 500 mb external space? I didn't quite get that..

I have a 32 GB SD card partitioned into 10GB (ext2) and 20 (FAT32) and I use Link2SD to automatically install apps on the ext2 partition. That is working fine.
There is an app in Samsung Apps, issued by the education department, that I need for my son's upcoming spelling bee. The app is around 30MB. When I try to download it, it complains that there is not enough internal memory and that I should delete some files, make space, etc.
Relevant information:
1. There is 90MB available on the internal memory and the app is 30MB.
2. The app should automatically be installed on the SD card anyway, and so not be concerned about the internal memory in the first place.
3. Other, smaller apps from Samsung Apps install without complaint directly onto the SD card.
The figure of 90MB is from Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and also from Link2SD > Settings > Storage Info. Same number.

Did you move the dalvik-cache partition?
Dalvik-cache needs space too to install and run the app so clean it and then try to install this app again

In setting up Link2SD, a new dalvik-cache folder was set up on the 2nd partition on the SD card and the default action for all new apps is to put dalvik-cache files there. There is still the old dalvik-cache folder on /data.
I used Link2SD to clear all the cache folders and got another 10 MB free of internal memory.
Running df in a terminal I get:
/data size-180MB, used-76MB, free-104MB
Which should mean that the 'old' dalvik-cache folder has plenty of room to expand and shouldn't be stopping the installation of a single new app. Again, of course, any new apps should have their dalvik-cache files added to the SD partition anyway, rather than the original one.
Is their something I'm not understanding about the dalvik-cache?

For this and many other reasons I don't like to use link2sd, I prefer int2ext+ script; safe, simple, fast, doesn't touch the dalvik-cache partition and keep /data in /data place
AFAIK Link2sd don't move "apps" strictly, It link apps to sd-ext partition, so a part of apps are installed in /data (internal memory) and the rest (the heaviest) in your sd-ext partition

It's normal I suppose due to Read/Write cycles, but it's better (less cycles) than swap partition (reduce your sdcard's life drastically)
Couldn't Install on USB Storage or SD Card
If, while installing your app, its showing "Couldn't Install on USB Storage or SD Card", then I've got just the solution. You could either fix it permanently,temporarily or do a method each time before you install your app.
Permanent Method
1) If your device is running on 2.2.1 or 2.3.6 android version, upgrade it to 3.4.5 ICS or 4.1.1 Jellybean. If the problem is solved then, don't worry, your problem has been permanently fixed.
Temporary Method
1) Backup your SD Card files and format it. Don't worry, it won't affect your partitions. I cannot guarantee you that this thing won't come up again. It may not but there is still a chance.
2) Before installing your apps, Go to Settings>Storage Info>Unmount SD Card. Select this each time before you install anything. Your app will be installed on to your Phone memory. After installing, Go to Settings again and Mount your SD Card. And of course, you could then Link your app to your partition or whatsoever...
I'll recommend Temporary Method 2 as it is would be easy for you if you're a newbie...Hope that this helped...Thanks:highfive:

I've installed a SlimKat rom (4.4.2), and I've installed two apps, both 30MB, and now I can't install any app, because it says: "Not enough memory". I've noticed on applications, that only 1,8GB is used, and 200MB is free. And now, there is a question: How to increase this memory, if the phone has internal 16 GB of memory, to make apps use more of it, like from this 2GB to 4GB or sth. On previous ROM's that I've installed I had the same problem, but it was like 300mb available, and I was able to move some apps to SD card, but not every app is movable, so plese, help me increase this available memory for applications.

Data /data 35mb that are needed, logs empty. Its a fresh ROM, installed after full whipe, no unwanted files found SO far, but i don't know what uses this 1.8 gigs of memory...
Use SD maid to scan files.. It should show some info you need.
I did data whipe and installed ROM again, now it's ok. Dunno what used this 1.8 gigs of memory.
