Hello everyone!
Finally the sun is shining here in Belgium.
I am studying outside in the garden. My Z is lying next to me in the sun...
But I checked my battery temperature in cpu master and it says my temp is about 65 degrees celsius.
The phone is very hot altough the outside temperature is only 16-18 degrees...
This summer I am going to Turkey where the outside temperature is around 36 degrees daily.
Ain't these circumstances deadly for the Z?
I am really scared now taking it with me to Turkey.
I don't want the phone to die...
So my main question is: are these temperatures dangerous? What temperatures do you get outside?
Hope our Z's will survive the summer!

I am experiencing the same thing. have you updated your phone to 253? For me, it's from that point that the phone began to become very hot.
For example, just listening to MP3 in the underground for 15 minutes, and my pocket (my phone in fact) is extremely hot...

There are some people from southern Europe like Spain/Turkey that have the XZ and they haven't reported such a problem, so I think you're good to go.
This phone is made from glass and the glass get hot very quickly in sunlight.
I don't think you want to see your phone exploding,so keep it away from direct sunlight.

Well this is a special feature Sony put in to the phone. It is to keep Ur hands warm when u use the phone in the winter time. Pretty nifty to bad u can't turn off that feature

Take it from this guy, he could be breaking sweat yet the phone ain't.
The only time my XZ got too hot was when I updated Real Racing 3 over wifi, phone just hung up screen open, could be used for cooking,
put it in my bag, travel to office, got the phone out of the bag and it was off.
and it was in the summer morning in the Philippines
I'm afraid to use my ZL as navigation on my motorbike.. my droid 3 was in a waterproof GPS case in full sunlight while being charged and while providing GPS navigation.
The battery got damaged I think because afterwards it always jumped for 15 to 4% in 5min.....
And since the Z/ZL doensn't have a replaceable battery be careful with sunlight/overheating!

For your safety, report to Sony or where ever you got it from and ask for an exchange. Might be a defected phone.

It could be just try the original charger
Try another charger if not get it exchanged. The heatsink inside the phone may be not positioned properly.

Maybe poor reception?
i can confirm this.
i am just going through the phone like through settings etc and taking pictures.
and the top of the phone gets hot, not warm, but hot.
mind you, i don't have a sim card inserted, could that be a factor?

Less than 2% of retail Xperia AX/VL handsets (the Japanese version of Xperia V) are affected by SoD according to Sony Service Centres' statistics. I'm sure for the international model it's the same.
Not so sure i should answer this question....
happens to my friends before..
Mine international Xperia V is on Singapore's ROM and I experience SOD near once in month.

I've had this happen twice in the last few days, and I've had the phone for only about a week. I'm on stock JB rom 9.1.A.0.490 which came preinstalled on the phone. I have yet to try any WiFi settings like suggested in most threads about this problem.

sod and heat problem
so how often do these problems happen. The SOD and the heating problem. I might buy the xperia V but im seeing a lot of people reporting this problems and also the fact that you can end up with the tmd screen with poor quality. is this phone worth the risk of buying it?

I have SOD near once a month and don't have overheating problem (it heats up while heavy gaming, but it's normal). Overall it's a very nice phone, but build quality isn't perfect —*for example, it squeaks when I take it in the middle of the edges (plastic slightly presses inside), but it's not a problem for me too.

Where did you buy your phone from? I bought mine from SingTel and I don't seem to have that problem. Maybe you should ask for a replacement using warranty?

You can try and ask for a replacement. The seller is basically giving you a broken device.
Bought a V for my wife and she is complaining that the phone gets hot while in her purse and after charging overnight it does not respond anymore. It has the. 940 firmware which came from the factory. It is an unbranded Dutch phone.
So international and with major problem. Will contact Sony tomorrow. Pretty frustrating.
Just thought I'd share.
Only started experiencing SOD a few weeks ago (owned the V since end of last year when it first came out in singapore, Stock ROM) around the same time a few apps were updated.
SOD only happens when it goes to sleep with wifi connection only on or LTE as preferred network. Only option is to long press the power button to shut it down then restart.
No SOD if i leave it on WCDMA as preferred network.
2 noticeable app (since I used them regularly( issues I experienced same time I started experiencing SOD - Whatsapp hung occassionally (has since been rectified after the recent updates) and Instagram will hang and exit while I am browsing (still occurs despite uninstalling and reinstalling.)
just thought i'd share to.
i got my phone from Singtel too, last year, within the first few weeks of it's release and i sufferec from SoD for like a long period of time until it went away on it's own i didn't do anything to it, other than updating it whenever there's a new update and just pulling the battery whenever the SoD happens.
now once in a while it will hang and i'll have to pull the battery, but at least it doesn't heat up.
another problem is the fluctuating battery levels whenever I restart the phone -_-
however... i am still feeling kinda scared whenever i do an update. like it keeps me wondering if the SoD problem will kick up again.
sighhhhhhhh
I just bought this device, i havent faced this SOD problem(3 days now). Hope it wont happen to me. Status, locked bl, havent root yet.

I just got a replacement HTC One today (due to a power button issue). Within 5-10 minutes of use my One will hit about 110 degrees, sometimes up to 115. I use a task manager and I never had this problem with the first One I had. Any idea what could be causing this/what could prevent it?
If it didn't happen with the first phone, you should return that second phone.

This.... which is why the tiny gap on the top I can live with.. Dont want to risk the chance of getting one with a dead pixel or something.
As for the over heating.. My phone gets a little warm but unless the blinking overheating led doesn't come up for no reason I wouldn't worry about it.

The thing is, I paid for a phone in full working order. Regardless of if the defects are minor, they are still defects. I just want what I paid for.
Are we talking 115F? ...Or 115C.
Cause I'm inclined to believe its the former, and, if so, that's within a range I would consider normal.
If it's 115C, I'm surprised the phone is still on. Water would boil if put on the chip. The battery likely would have exploded by now.
Typically, you want to quote electronics temperatures in C.
115F isn't abnormal especially if you're pushing the CPU (heavy GPS or gaming), especially if you're referencing the battery temperature.
Generally you want to avoid anything above 50C, and that's not above 50C.
If it battery temp then it likely to be a bit high considering it sandwiched in between the LCD and the cpu board

Plus, I've decided that the all aluminum case helps dissapate heate from the board and therefore feels warmer than an equivalent plastic (read Galaxy S4 ) phone.
So... My Mom got her One about a week ago, today I took a look at the power menu all I can say is WOW this definitely sealed the deal for me...

ahaha me too, I can pull about 10 1/2 hours with 4 hours screen time and that's about as good as it gets, but that's with playing music and web browsing a bit as well.
If my phone can last me from the time I take it off the charger in the morning to the time I put it back on when I go to bed, which it usually does, I'm content. And that's with me messing with it all day, and at least 6 hours of streaming music.
I can get a day and a half out of mine. That being said the half day part doesn't do me a lick of good so he gets charged every night regardless.

I'm getting excellent battery life. Lasts all day easily and most of the way into the night. On average it needs to be charged after 19-24 hours.
Check to make sure you're not running any hungry background tasks.
This is the first phone I've had since the existence of 4G LTE that I haven't had to put on the charger every single night. I'm thrilled with the battery life on this phone.

Sorry about not posting the ss, I have to get around to it later...
To all the Naysayers:
I just posted this because I found it a bit weird, she has been using it quite a bit, she has used 93 minutes off our plan as of this morning and that is in just a week.
EDIT: She is CONSTANTLY deleting running apps so that is probably a good portion of it.
Also, one more thing, in her settings under about it says "Hardware Version 0004" what is this and does any of your devices say different?
Thanks,

YAY! Screenshots!
Here you go!
3 days is far from the norm, and the battery monitor is EASILY fooled, all it takes is a partial charge. My girlfriend's mom just got the galaxy the other day and I went over to help her with her car BT, took a quick glance at the battery monitor for kicks and it said she was on something absurd like 5 days and I knew something was off. Turns out she didn't charge her phone at night, just sporadically during the day, and it had never charged to 100%.
I'm getting around 14 hours until I hit 20%, and this is with HEAVY usage...taking pictures, using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blinkfeed, playing games, etc, all on 4G. So the battery life IS pretty nice.
good here
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 2
I charge my phone every night so I don't know exactly how long it'll go, but I think I've only ever dropped below 50% once, and that was the first day, and HTC Connect was acting all screwy. Had used over 60% in the monitor. Love it!
I have never before in my life poured water on any of my devices on purpose, so I was kind of nervous doing this, but hey it was fun!
Uhhhh...... Why did you do that. You realize that you just got a lot of water inside your phone via the ear speaker. It is highly possible that something will short out, and corrosion will build up all over inside of the phone, possibly damaging it slowly over time.
Really shocked as I work on WD phones all the time and know they can get bad.
Well done I guess...
Why??
Thanks for the test but I feel you shouldn't have done that...
If it was water proof, IP7 standard, then that is the only way a test like this would even be uselful.

Dude! You've just sentenced your phone to a long and slow death. It may appear to be fine right now but over time that liquid contamination will begin to eat away at the sensitive components of your phone.
If I were you I'd strip that phone and go over it with a cotton bud dipped in alcohol. I've seen what water does to the phones and it's not pretty.
