Try wiping cache/dalvik first.
Install CPU spy from the market (free) and you can see what your processor has been doing (it might just be mainly be on 600) . Install CPU Master and increase minimum to 900 if that is the case.
Let me know if that helps

[Q] NOVA ROM v8 battery trouble

after flashing nova rom (kernel 2.6.32) on my OB, battery lasts less than one day and the battery stats always says: ~45% cell standby ~40% phone idle.
There are also other bugs, like the time of last reboot which is always less than the effective (for ex 10 hours of functioning instead of 18)
Can someone help me?
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Thats wierd. Battery life on my OB had a great improved.
Try to reflash it.
Got the same problem,
some day my OB turned off it self, then tried to reboot 3 times or so, nothing.
Somehow after 10 minutes it rebooted an there was the problem.
Don't care what rom I've flashed, the battery drains in about 8 hours with idle power consumption of min. 90 mA, but in general about 150 mA.
That hurts...
I think I have to ship it back to LG and look, if they can fix it...
i am using the nova v8, and i found that the battery have a little bit improve. Have you tried to clear the dev cache in advance?
Or, try to reflash it by doing the factory reset?
Besides, I wonder that if I use 2G networking standby, it last only for around 10 hours? Is it normal?
I have considered to use the new CM7.1 RC1.5 solution, but I found that the situation worsen, lags and higher battery drain.
it is extremely not normal...
for my optimus black using nova 8..
it only consumed 2-3 % for 10h stand by. This is working with data on and using edge network.
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA App
Same here
It happens exactly the same to me. Should I reflash?
Tried to do reflash with wiping all data, nothing changed.
What dev chache do you mean sonicspecter? Only can wipe battery stats and dalvik chache, both wiped.
I also flashed kdz of stock rom to set it back to absolutely normal settings, nothing changed.
Because of this I'm thinking of sending it back to LG...

yes you are right, dalvik cache.i forget the spelling. However. my battery can only last for ten hours for 2g standby.i relish it by wipe both cache add it is mentionEd . Wiping battery cache would help?
What shouldi do? Back to stock rom and send back to CS? The original ROM is Hong Kong v10b
Thanks a lot

Before flashing rom i always perform: wipe data, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache (following this order) and after flashing i perform wipe battery stats.
Is there something more i should do?

ivan , could you tell us how to have your pretty battery time?
I have set to lowest of the brightness with no auto adjustion
How i got extreme battery life :
Flashed heuxxx mod/fix, set interativex as governor, oc with 900, 700 500 300.
That will give a lot of battery juice.

Extremely poor performance on stock. Help please?

Hi everyone. I have never rooted my Bionic, but have always been disappointed in my performance. I bought it on launch day and just stuck with it, and it has been a huge disappointment ever since.
Well, I think I may have come across a reason for the disappointment. I ran the benchmark test Quadrant.
My first run? 1700.
My second? 1200.
I said, whoa, hold on a minute, people were getting 2200-2500 on stock when the thing launched.
So I did a factory reset, and after the last three runs of Quadrant I'm getting about 1400.
Something is seriously wrong. I installed CPU spy and nothing seems too out of the ordinary. Yet these scores are worse than the Nexus S, and that's just crazy. I know the Bionic is a better phone than that.
Is there a hardware problem with my phone causing these low scores? What do you think I could do to fix this?
Which version are you on?

5.9.905, which is the latest OTA firmware.
I just ran it and got 1465, and I've noticed that my Bionic has gone to hell lately. Poor battery life and overall poor performance. I would love help with this!
Edit: Using CPU Spy I found that when my phone isn't in deep sleep, it spends the large majority of its time at 300mhz, almost no time at 600 or 800mhz, and a small amount of the at 1000mhz that is significantly less than the time at 300mhz. Is the problem that my Bionic for some reason is getting stuck at a lower speed?

Well there are 3 things that could be contributing to this; your microSD, your choice of apps, and/or not using your built-in task manager to stop apps that are wasting memory.
But it's worth noting that Quadrant Standard won't show you the individual scores, so it is a poor tool for diagnosing problems. I suggest that you also not go by other peoples scores. They may be using mods that you aren't.

As I said in my post, I did a factory reset. Everything was wiped off the internal storage. No rogue apps. The only thing installed was the benchmark itself. I also tried the benchmark without the microSD to no avail.
And also, the scores I have read have been from day one purchasers of Bionics on stock. I ignore anything that does not specify that it was achieved on stock, and everything I have seen has been 2000+.
There is no reason my Bionic should be scoring 1400 and lower.
You should root your phone, it gives you things you wouldnt have dreamed of!
Don't know what to tell you...just got a 2683 in Quadrant on. 2333 ICS leak on my Bionic (though mine was bumped to.1.2Ghz with the leak).
Total 2683
CPU 3770
Mem 3008
I/O 3145
2D 1000
3D 2414

After the factory reset, when you logged in to your account, did you log into more than one?
Also, was it by chance downloading things like mail in the background? Try disabling all sync and even putting it in airplane mode and then see.
Also, how much charge on your battery? Remember that stock BIONIC settings also have that delicious night mode settings as well....

Thanks for your time :good:
Well i have mine when I game set to 1500 low and high plus performance. It never drops and other then that. One issue I did encounter is that as long u have profiles set up and checked it will still use them regardless if u set it in the front page to a certain speed. So u need to uncheck all profiles and also uncheck the use profiles. Basically uncheck it all then even if u uncheck use profile it still will use the profile if u select one. Here a picture from what I mean. See how I unchecked everything. U need to do this to or it still will the profiles even if not checked the use profile box.

My problem is same as you. I don't rooted my phone.
I have stock v10h firmware hungarian,
When I play games, all games very laggy.
I checked the CPU speeds, the max frequency is 1300Mhz and below.
What is this ? Tegra 3 stupidity ?

Just write 3845#*880# and on the bottom you can see cpu usage, turn it on and play some game.

that 's 3 people with the same problem...and no one is helping -.-, ^^^and he 's on v10H so its not fixed by update .-.
anyone??
It didn't change anything for me to put the CPU @ 1,5GHz constantly. I did a test with the game Horn and its lagging exactly as with the default CPU governor enabled.
If you think about it for a moment, it makes sense, as the GPU is doing the majority of work.
Tegra 3 CPU Clocks
Based on what I understand about Tegra 3 from this thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664391, the CPU has 3 different "modes". 1.5Ghz single core, 1.4Ghz dual and triple core, and 1.2Ghz quad core (At a certain temperature, remains on 1.4Ghz or 1.3Ghz until that temperature is reached... quickly). The reason why the frequencies go down is because when the phone is utilising more cores, the frequency drops too. The move from 1.5Ghz to 1.4Ghz causes lag in games at times, which is why the maximum should be set to 1.4Ghz to prevent this from occuring. Also they said that the performance governor causes 2 of the 4 cores to no longer be in use, which is NOT good for Tegra games such as ShadowGun as all 4 cores cannot be used, so they advised people only to use it for Non-Tegra games as they do not use all the cores. Hoped I helped in any way, even though I'm a new guy. I'm not sure if this applies for ALL Tegra 3 devices or just the HTC One X, but it still looks like useful information.

Thanks for your reply..but for me, the frequency doesnt drop to any of the values above, it automatically drops to1000 and mostly its on 1 core
Which brings me to another problem...i need a way to force the activation of the 4 cores simultaneously...in most games the cpu is stuck at 100% single or dual core

Most games are not optimised to use 4 cores, so I guess using only 1 or 2 cores should be normal. What governor are you using for games, because this might have an effect on the performance.

I tried all governors..performance isnt the best, idk why..userspace seems to work fine, but still when i set min and max freq above 1000mhz, it automatically drops to 1000mhz ._. and that isnt quite good for gaming, and since i bought this device over s3 for gaming, i feel f*cked
so would an update to v10F or a hard reset fix anything??
EDIT: and there 's 4 other people with the same problem and one of them has v10F so hardware problem??if so, im hanging myself

[Q] My note getting warm

Hello, Im new in Note, installed yesterday Slim Bean Rom and hydracorenirvana v7 OC kernel and I noticed that Note get warm, like 35-50 C while browsing internet or doing some low requerements stuff. I tried to low CPU to 1ghz but still the same... And while playing it jumps more then 50C, is that normal? I really dont want to burn it
Probably the media scanner is maxing the CPU, normal after installing a new ROM especially if you have a lot of files. Give it some time to settle down.

Dont forget the Hydracore is a maxed out performance kernel, designed for ultimate speed, so it will generate more heat doing basic things unlike the stock kernel.
and not to mention the massive power hungry screen and huge battery inside, its normal so dont worry about it. If it gets to the point where its too hot to touch, just remove the battery for 10mins and allow it to cool down.
Can I OC and UV GPU with hydracore kernel? I have S2 with dorimanx kernel , there is Stweaks app its very usefull when I can choose battery or performance profiles. and its auto OC and UV on that kernel. Can we get something on Note?
there are many apps that can do this, Tegrak, SetCPU etc, but be careful messing with voltages as it can prevent the phone from functioning.
You can use a basic app such as no-frills-CPU to adjust OC and governors.

Yes, I know setcpu, but I want OC / UV GPU not CPU. On my S2 via STweaks I can OC/UV also GPU.
Ok, now Im on jellybam woth "voldemort" kernel and on battery it looks little less warmer but when I charging and try to play games or browse it gets really hot, like ~55C . Is it normal and not damage my Note? Also I always use 1ghz cpu speed. with 1.4 or 1.6 ghz its little bit warmer

Adreno 3xx GPU Driver for Android 4.4.4 KitKat - flashable package

Greetings,
This driver is obtained from Qualcomm's 07 Aug 14 drivers for "Qualcomm Adreno 3xx GPU on Nexus 4, 5 & 7 devices running Google Android 4.4.4 KitKat".
All credits go to the folks at Qualcomm for making the developer version of these lib files available for us to play with.
This is for testing purposes only. Please don't flash without backing up first and then start screaming if something happens to your phone!
The package only contains files for Adreno 300 and 330. I cooked the packaged to be flashable on our SM-G900T or any SM-G900 with the Adreno 330 chipset.
I'm on a "XtreStoLite_G900T_ROM_v1.3_UVU1BNG3" ROM, which is a super clean/slim version of the stock rom. This is also Android 4.4.2, my AnTuTu benchmark results dropped from 37400 to 35800 after flashing this package.
I'm requesting someone with a KitKat 4.4.4 ROM to test this and report back their before and after benchmarks.
I appreciate your feedback,
Hmm, interesting.. I'm only on 4.4.2 or I would help out..
Turned out the 3D performance on antutu version 5 with this driver puts our phone one head and shoulder above everyone else!

And this means....... I'm sorry but I don't understand the purpose... Is this supposed to make Tw snappier?
Thanks in advance!
It is updating the video (graphics) drivers. It probably improves the touchWiz performance as well (don't have evidence to support this), but what i noticed was a huge performace increase in the 3D graphics score. This will make games run alot smooter and more efficiently.
To clarify, this file resembles how your Mac/PC has a video card with say NViDIA or ATi video cards and they have their own driver releases. Our phones graphic chipset is designed by Qualcomm and it gets its own drivers as well. Hope I answered your question, and didn't make it worse!

In order to get any real "TouchWiz/Nova/Apex/etc" performance increase from it you'd have to flash this, then venture into Developer's Options and enable Force GPU rendering and Disable Hardware Overlays. And even then our device is so performance driven that you likely would likely not even realize the difference other than giving the CPU a break for a few cycles and possibly seeing a battery life increase depending on whether the CPU or GPU pulls more juice. These drivers are largely made to increase the 3D performance of your device when gaming and while it wasn't meant for us I'm glad to see someone took the time to let us benefit from it.
I'm going to flash it on an NG4 (4.4.2) release and see how it holds up to GPU rendering no hardware overlays. I don't game so if you want an objective test on that someone will have to pick up my slack. I'll report back when I know if it truly impacts it.
Tried flashing the update and ran into a couple random fcs for a few apps. Nothing device-breaking or anything, but I also didn't notice any real difference in performance or framerate in games. But I do appreciate you posting this, I'm always up for trying a little experimentation on my device to find something new. Thanks man.

Don't worry, I didn't forget about you. It takes a few days to really put it through its paces. But here is what you want to know: It works in 4.4.2 Touchwiz (Alliance Rom B4 for me)
Performance Increase in ROM function and control with "Turn Off Hardware Overlays" and Force GPU Rendering: Check
So I tested this by underclocking my CPU to the point where lag was perceivable in things likes app launching, keyboard typing, app draw opening, etc. I dropped it down to about 1200Mhz on all cores and then disabled HW Overlays. It was night and day. After the GPU took over rendering my CPU clock speed hardly moved all of the items previously lagging went right back to being fluid.
So does it help with Rendering in the ROMs? Yes, it definitely can.
The other concern people have is with battery life that goes with GPU rendering and the claims are that the GPU uses more power than the GPU. In my preliminary testing, what I noticed was lower overall CPU temps while Hardware Overlays was off, lower CPU clock speeds since it didn't need to render apps, and a small decrease in battery life.
In the power draw category I need more time with BetterBatteryStats and I need to adjust some variables. I want to underclock the GPU to the point of perceivable lag (if that is possible) and then I want to adjust the governor with KTweaker and see if I can't get better battery life. I will simultaneously lower CPU speeds to keep my core temperatures down and keep the battery cool. If these things are successful and battery life is interchangeable between the two, I may run the GPU full time for rendering the ROM. Keep in mind though, only custom kernels allow this kind of tweaking. If you use a stock ROM you are stuck with CPU and GPU clock speeds where they are so battery will drain faster.
Give me about a week to test my theory on this and see if I can find an equilibrium for CPU and GPU temperature and speed. I'll post the profile I used with KTweaker when I have my results. Until then, if you want to help and find your own settings and post them here along with battery life that would be awesome.
Edit: For what it is worth, to test application launch speeds and UI fluidity with the GPU I completely turned off system animations, I set Nova Launcher Animations Speed to Faster than light and scroll speed to "Fast" (personal preference). I got the same, or better response time using the GPU to render the UI.

Thanks for the detailed response, can I flash this over a cm rom or only "touch wiz" and/or after I updated/flash this no Mauer what rom I flash will it stay. ..?
Thanks in advance! I'm still a bit confused...

I haven't tried it on CM yet, I'm about to flash the 09/04 build of CM11 by Albinoman with KT's kernel. But I won't flash these drivers prior to running the build 24 hours or so to make sure there aren't bugs that existed before flashing the files. So, if you've been running CM for awhile and want to test this build just nandroid, flash, and report any issues.

Ooo that sounds like a killer combo cm + kt kernel + adreno update = project slip n slide lol nah but I'm really curious of what results you might get [emoji4]
And once I flash this, can I go back or will it erase the update once I flash a different rom?
Thanks in advance!!

I'll keep you posted. I wasn't impressed overall with it's performance in Touchwiz on battery life with the CPU underclocked, so I am branching out to a more AOSP-like build. I'll keep you posted to what I find out.

Turned out the 3D performance on antutu version 5 with this driver puts our phone one head and shoulder above everyone else!

This can't be right because right now I haven't flashed the driver update and look at My score
Now imagine that's without kt kernel just stock kernel, I'm on xtralite 3.5a t-mobile, so what if I flashed the kt kernel AAAAND the adreno update.... would my phone explode?!?!
I'm thinking twice now whether I should flash thisor not. ..
You have a good point. I think antutu v5 also rescaled their scoring system. Anyway, post your new score if you decided you want to give it a shot.

This maybe off topic, but does this works on other devices like Z2 or HTC M8 using the same GPU?
43718 before
43292 after
All I did was reboot into recovery, flash the ZIP and then run the test, same clock speed etc..

Lower score, what about gaming?

You guys make me sad. Benchmarks are not now, nor will they ever be, an acceptable means for telling you how capable your device is. Your scores in AnTuTu are about as capable of telling you your phone's speed as your ESN is at telling people who your phone belongs to. It is just arbitrary numbers that will fluctuate up and down based on the slightest inconsistencies.
Drivers, just like in Windows/Linux/Mac, are meant to optimize the performance of your hardware. That's it. This driver likely optimizes the GPU cycles to make it more efficient and lower heat output while performing better in games. You know why hardware review sites start out with benchmarks saying what it can do in a perfect world but still ends the review by telling you it gets 75 FPS in Borderlands 2? They do that because while synthetic tests are nice, what would be the point if our games don't play better? It is the same concept here.
I'm begging you, uninstall AnTuTu, re-install your favorite mobile game and just base performance off of whether it plays better or not.
Side Note: Drivers didn't appear to do anything in AOSP CM11 when I gave it a try. Sorry I am so late on reporting in, college takes up a lot of my time. Also, using the GPU to draw your applications does eat more battery whether you use these drivers or not. So there is no marked improvement from lowering CPU speed and using GPU only to render.

I figured since the OP stated he got less points in Antutu, I would go ahead and use the same app and test to compare...
F*ck me right?
Regardless, I don't notice anything different either, my stats are in the sig.
