is it possible to get a new partition layout?
I'd like to have smaller system partition because i like minimalistic Roms (as few Google apps as possible etc.)

Hello,
Is there a possibility to change partitions size in Samsung Galaxy S? At this moment my /data partition has 1917.MB and /mnt/sdcard has 5918.5MB. I want to make /data smaller (for ex 600MB) and use this space for /mnt/sdcard. If anybody knows way of doing this, please help.
regards,
Boomz
Is that impossible?
don't think that's possible
Hi everyone
I'm wondering if there's a way to resize /data partition to, let's say, 500 MB because 2 GB is way too much for me and I'd like to the use the extra space on IntSD partition, because I'm running out of space on it.
Do you have any suggestions? I know it has been done on ZTE Blade by its developers via TPT method.
Cheers.
I believe this is called making a "custom mtd". Try Google to see if there is a guide for your phone.
I have now a Nexus one, as noobish at it may sound. What is the latest and easiest way to install apps from the partition I created? I created 512mb partition swap 64mb
I search but I was overwhelmed by the results..
thanks for anyone who will answer!
First, recreate partitions, remove swap and rise the EXT to 768MB or 1GB. Swap is not needed, and it's not smart to use it.
Second, install DarkTremor's A2SD, or a ROM that includes it.
Third, if you're using a stock ROM - install another kernel, because stock kernel doesn't support it.
Well I tried different roms and stayed at evervolv (2.6.38.8-evervolv-perdo-ics+; Evervolv-Perdo-2.2.0a6) and I changed the partition sizes via hboot.
Is there a way back to the much faster and less memory intensive CM? Would there be a HBoot so that I get the correct partition sizes?
Or would MIUI v5 3.3.29 a better alternative? But here comes the problem. Seems that a2sd must be installed but there is not stated which ext the partition on the card has to be.
You can always change to any ROM, its not really going back. If you are worried about partition sizes then see the op of the ROM you want and match those recommended sizes or experiment to see what you like best, so long as the system partition fits all you should be fine (but there is more to it then this and as you experiment with partition sizes you'll learn what to change and when)
As for your SD cards ext partition again your choice, this will be where you store your data partition (and sometimes dalvik etc) so you make the size and type what works for you. Personally I always keep a 1gb ext4 partition on all my android sdcards but will change from time to time if needed

Hello,
Il's possible resize the root partition? I have 2GB free for nothing in cm rom
It would be amazing if this is possible!
I'd also like to find out about this! So far the best solution seems to be using something like FolderMount to create a symbolic link to store some app data in the /system partition. (Still need to test this, though). You'd have to be rooted, obviously...
New twrp allows this, but I haven't done it
Gpt.bin of Xt1085(Chinese version)will give more internal storage,about 2 GB.
Someone says: you can backup your Cm12 or 13,flash xt1085 gpt then restore backup, now you get more space of rom.
Take your own risk
Hello, can you be clearer for the method to resize the system partition ?
