Camera blemish/dirt - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I take photos I have a little Mark on the screen which I can only assume is a bit of dirt on the lens.
Looking at the lens I see nothing obvious and also if I choose to record a video, the 'dirt' moves about when I move the camera....
Should it move about? Bearing in mind when I return to the camera it's back in the exact position..... Hoping it's some kind is software issue, know in myself it won't be....!

Shouldn't be a software issue , anyway you could try a reset to confirm

Please forgive my ignorance, by switching to video recording from photo shooting, should any kind of dust/dirt move on screen when I move the phone?

I just noticed the same on my camera. There are about 3 'dots' that are static. My camera lens is scratch-free and there isn't any dirt on it. I remember reading a thread with a similar issue here. I don't know why this is happening.
Edit: Try using "normal mode". Then set the brightness to the maximum, which is 2. Point your camera at a light source, for example your laptop's screen. The black spots would disappear. So it couldn't be dirt.

Good call. Straight away after setting to normal, the mark doesn't move when video recording??? Wonder how you get rid of it.....
Wonder if reinstalling the camera would help?
Xperia Z

Only solution, you need to return the telephone to be repaired. I also have the same issue. Changing firmware won't solve it. It's a hardware problem. I will send it Mine next month.

Stripes taking photos on htc kaiser

I have a htc Kaiser and there is a problem with the external 3Mp camera. When you start the application to take photos, then appears two parallel stripes, one half yellow hald red, and other below half green half blue. This happens only in the external ( 3 Mp ) camera, not in the 3g one. How I can fix it ????

Clean the lense
I have the same problem.
Tried cleaning the lens, didn't work.
Hard reset didn't work either.
Seems like a hardware fault with the camera.
Wait, are you saying they appear in the "viewfinder" of the app, or the actual photos?
Post an example shot please?
Mostly, It's cameras bug.

Was that supposed to be an answer to my question or a response to someone else?
Really, it's not possible to say whether this is an unusual "feature" or a bug without more info. The way the original poster describes it, it sounds like it might be some unusual framing assist feature in the live preview. No one seems to be willing to say whether it is in the previews or if it is in the actual pictures taken. (I know I have seen the Kaiser pictures thread, and they look pretty good other than some obvious deficiencies in the debayering algorithm that cause "maze" patterns to appear in certain situations, which is a common problem with some of the older/simpler debayering algorithms.)

yes, good question. does it look like this when you view it on your computer, or is it only when it's sized down on your device?
I can see the stripes while taking the picture and they are also part of the saved image. Viewed on the TyTN II and on a PC.
The camera was working fine then all of a sudden just started showing stripes.
Attached are some photos.
Looks like i might have to send the TyTN II for repair.
I also noticed that when you take the battery cover off, it seems like the camare can be taken out, so it may have moved and not making a good contact.

lol my first glance and it looked like you were targeting things with a crosshair. yea thats different than the lines i hought you were talking about, you need to send that back for repair.
Yeah, definately something wrong there, likely broken hardware.
Also I have the same problemna!
This happened to mine too, after working fine for about a month. Seems like a common problem, interesting it shows up after time too. I sent mine in for repair/replacement but it may happen again....
Even my own, for a month everything was ok, then is the line appeared
Same Problem
My camera also did this. I changed the flicker adjustment in the camera settings to 60 hz from auto and it went away, only to reappear again. Again, I changed the flicker adjustment, this time to aut, and it went away again. Very strange. It appears I can paly with the flicker adjustment in the camera settings and make it go away, at least for a while. It appears to be a common problem, likely software related.
i too
hi i too experiance the same problem.......
is there any one to help us... please post a geniune reply to our problem

strange niose

Hello
I have my optimus 2x for about 0ne week now.
When I tap the phone with my finger on the backside above the camera or when it slides on the table al little faster (not so fast that it dangerous for the phone) I hear a strange clicking noise from the inside of the phone. Is that normal? probably the gyro-sensor?
Have you the same noise when you do that?
Maybe something inside my phone is broken...
p.s: its definitely no part of the shell, i have made serveral tries while holding varying parts on the outside (Camera, Card-Slot, HDMI,...)
please, can somebody tell me if that noise is normal?
The Answer ist just one tap with your finger away
Very slight click when I tap mine. Wouldn't even notice it if you had not mention it. Can't get it to click any other way. Probably the camera assembly.
Someone posted on here suffering from the same problem. Apparently it's something slightly loose in the camera assembly which is surprisingly common on phones (the Nexus One had a big probably with it apparently).
yes its normal even after you taking a photo with macro or some AF and then go to gallery you can ear the noise because the camera do it. its loose by default.
aahh, ok thank you for your replies, no real problem then...must have missed it the first few days.
good built quality ;-)

Do you experience issues with your camera?

Forum, I have HTC One M8. This morning the following message started showing up: duo camera is blocked, please make sure all lenses are uncovered.
Does anyone have any idea?
PS. All lenses are uncovered and thoroughly cleaned.
Thank you
Doesn't look like your case is the culprit. Having said that, have you tried using the camera without the case? Only time I've encountered this issue is when my finger was in the way of the duo camera itself.

I have identified the problem... defective camera itself. When i pick up my phone, and shake it gently, there is a rattle sound thats coming from the camera. In addition, the top camera (under the lens) rotates every time i jog or shake the phone. So in short, its defective camera, but since i do not have the coverage, im SOL for now.
Thank you

Note 9 camera buzzing vibrating on 2x zoom

I just noticed recently my Note9 buzzes and vibrates when I use the 2x zoom. It does focus fine though. Anyone else has experienced this?

Yes
Mines doing it too. Did you figure out why ? The picture gets wavy too when zooming.
so its continuously buzzing when zoomed in or only when zooming for the small amount a time when switching to 2x
Didnt figure out why it does this. I even tried a complete factory reset. I will send it in for repair. It gets wavy and fuzzy if i try to focus and there is a bright lihht source in the frame. It buzzs and vibrates when it is trying to focus. It stops when it manages to focus properly.

Yeah that doesn't sound right. I've got the N960F too and zoom works fine in all modes that support it.
My guess is the aperture is freaking out. When changing aperture manually, you can just barely hear and feel a tiny click. It something was wrong with it, it might be rapidly changing apertures causing the buzzing maybe?
I just tried and listened in a silent room and I hear nothing.

Put it right up to your ear and you might be able to hear it when switching. It's really quiet.

Yep that happened on my Galaxy S2 after 2 years of use. Trying to focus but buzzes until it locks in...sounds like a hardware issue. My note 8 is fine.
I just tested this and there's no sound when using 2x zoom in auto mode.
Mine is doing this too. I find if i shake the phone it will stop vibrating. It sounds like something getting jammed. I have this phone with T-Mobile and i have the jump plan. Should i send this to them to fix or replace? Or should I contact Samsung? I don't want to have to pay for anything if its a hardware defect on a phone I've never dropped. So its not damaged from me.
I have this problem from the beginning- 1 week. Now i have the new update but the problem is still there.
When the 2x zoom lens try to focus, it makes vibrations and weird noises, and it can't focus... on sammobile someone has the same problem, i think it's a bigger problem.
Should i call the "samsung guard n9" and get a new one?
I've just had the new firmware update which was mostly camera related features, and now on 2X I'm getting this buzzing. What the heck is going on? A quick search on Google reveals a lot of people seem to be experiencing the same...

Your camera is switching and focusing to x2 normal as it should, right? The only thing you notice is the sound that comes from the module when switching? If so, your camera is fine. Even my s7e have sound from the OIS like clicking... working 2.5 years later like a champ and a lot of users reported it. Guess it's something similar here. If the camera module is broken, it will not focus and/or lead to other noticeable problems. If the sounds is too intrusive for you, you can send the phone for a repair/inspection.

No no, it's worse than that. When I switch to x2, when it's working normally it focuses and then it's fine. However, now it's failing to focus, the image is blurry and wavy and the device is physically buzzing (very gently but clearly attempting to do something mechanical and failing). Switching back to x1, it stops buzzing and focuses again.

The camera module is failing (you just described what was common camera module failing on HTC M8 back in the days, had a friend with it also), this can't be fixed via software, sadly it's for a service repair.

If you pinch to zoom while in camera mode does the zooming in appear wavey and stuttering? Someone else showed a video of this and it was a faulty camera apparently.

Give mi 5 minutes i will post a YT link with my "buzzing".

Here you have it. I know- ****y quality, but you can see what the problem looks like.
Samsung call service said, that they hear about this problem first time. I can give it to the service but the door-to-door 1 day service dosn't work, becouse they think noting is broken...

They are mistaken...it's an old issue that even affected my Galaxy S2...something gets loose and it has trouble focusing right (hence the noise). At first it works anyways, but over time it can degrade further. Hardware issue...would get it fixed if under warranty.

Front camera delay between shots

Hi, when I'm using the stock camera software on my up-to-date, non-rooted A2, with the front facing camera, many times, it's impossible to click on the "taking a picture" button right after taking a picture, it's like frozen for half a minute or so.
It's very annoying since my gf is obsessive with taking different angles of the same photo, and it keeps us smiling like stupid for a long time without being able to take pictures...
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Edit: I think that a viable workaround may be an app that can take high quality picture with the front camera, and is able to take a few pictures in a row (I downloaded some, but some of them shows me the picture after taking it, instead of going back to the camera screen, and some seems to lower the quality of the photos compare to the stock app).
Many thanks!
