After my kindle updated to 7.4.3 no background on any themes for go launcher ex show up anymore. It just shows a black screen. All the icons work like normal and change with the themes but no background. I've restored to factory settings rooted again, and reinstalled everything and still have black screen as a background. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. I've also posted in general but since I'm new I'm not sure if general is where I should post this so I'm posting it here as well. If I should delete one or the other please let me know.
I made a fix for X.4.1, but amazon decided to release and update that makes my fix not work, if you have 7.4.3 could you send or post this file on the following thread so I can see if I can fix this so it works again? Need this file /system/framework/framework-res.apk
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295750
If u post that I might be able to fix it, but if you use the tool I have released on that thread it won't work.

Sorry to barge in, however does anyone know how to remove go launcher EX and HD? There is no option to uninstall it from the application menu (just force stop) and es won't let me delete it from the system/apps folder
Also, I've installed Nova and Apex, however they are not showing up anywhere on my device
You have to enable the root options in as file explorer to delete system apps, check all of them off and it should work.

Thanks!
If anyone else is having this issue just check out stunts thread that he posted, his fix worked for my kindle. Also how do you close a thread if your question is answered?

I'm currently running Docs ICS V5 and was wondering if anyone has or would be able to port the Samsung clock app??? I prefer it to the stock ICS clock app so if anyone knows of its existence would you kindly point me in the right direction. Thanks

I would like this also. I found a thread for the Galaxy Nexus where someone was able to port several TW apps to work with AOSP but when I install them they are not formatted for our resolution. Maybe someone will be able to port those from
this thread.

Stock ICS clock is bad, no Stop Watch
There is a stopwatch, but it is pretty poor compared to the Samsung one.
Inside the clock app, where you set the alarm, there is a sort of a title/tab on top-left that says "Alarms". If you click that, you'll be able to go to a stopwatch. Alternatively, you can go there through the menu button. I am on Doc's V4 and haven't tried other ICS roms, so YMMV.
What I don't like about that stopwatch is two things: It does not use a fixed width font, so the numbers keep "shaking". And it does not keep the phone from going to sleep, which pretty much makes it unusable to me.
So, a big +1 to the OP request.
TW clock is ready
Search for Nexus TW Clock ICS. The only problem I have with it - font and buttons are too big. SOmewhere there is a scale - lcd density or something which is wrong.
There is one for Epic 4G - with perfect size and it does everything - World time, timer, stopwatch, but not alarm! Alarm FC'es.
WTF!
Mystery of apktool
I tried combining these two from Epic and Nexus using apktool and baksmali. The code is almost identical - only one class differs and it's Alarm related. The resources are vastly different in picture sizes and xml's with "dip" in Epic vs "pix" in Nexus. So anyway - I copied Nexus class to Epic, and copied Epic resources to Nexus. None of these two after smaling and apktool build (without errors) got recognised in Launcher - no icons in app drawer, no .odex file in dalvik.
Any experts to solve the mystery?
Mystery is solved
New release is coming... Check out my ROM within couple of hours.
Just copied classes.dex from Nexus ICS clock to Epic 4G clock. And optimized it as usual.
I am patiently waiting for that update, but in the meantime just wanted to say "thank you" for the pointer to the epic clock.

Try the ROM or rip the Clockpackage.apk from .zip.
I'm fine either way.
I'm checking Holo Calendar now. First try was disastrous - I had to wipe the data to restore calendar sync.

I pulled the clockpackage.apk from your rom. I copied to the system/app and rebooted. It didn't show up in my app drawer. So I rebooted into recovery and wiped cach partition, dalvik and fixed permissions. It still isn't showing up in my app drawer. Do you have any other suggestions? I'm running ICSSGS latest version.
Edit: Never mind. When I went into All Applications it was disabled. When I enabled it, it is working now.
Smart Alarm Problem
Thank you so much for updating the clock in Nostalgia!
I can't get the smart alarm function to work, though. No matter which smart alarm tone I choose, the "Good Morning" alarm sound plays. Am I missing something, or is there a glitch in the apk?
Thank you!
I installed the app for now, and it works great.
I am thinking about trying out your ROM, though, once 5.3 is out.

I am having the same issue as you were. I followed steps you mention (I copied to the system/app, rebooted into recovery and wiped cache partition, dalvik and fixed permissions).
When I go to settings/apps/all I do not see it there and so I can't enable it as you did. Am I missing something? What is the app named (maybe I missed it)?
I double checked the system/app folder and it is there.
I am running a Boogs latest CM9 Kang (clean) with Launcher Pro (free version).
Anyone have any suggestions?
TIA

Thank you again.
I flashed it, and I like it, other than a couple of small problems that I can live with.
The Samsung Clock works great, and that makes me happy.

Here is a screenshot of what it looks like in the app list. Did you scroll all the way to the right and select all apps? Mine was at the bottom.

I had a similar problem until I found another thread with a solution. The solution was to add clockpackage.odex to system/app. I can't upload odex files, so it is attached in a .zip.
When you copy apk to /system/app - your permission on apk file get screwed up. Nice touch from FileManager writers. So you gotta fix them from the same Root Explorer or Browser to be 644 - read/write by owner, read by group, read by other.
Hey all,
How do I actually apply themes that I have downloaded online?
For example, I downloaded a zip file off mycolorscreen which contains the background pictures, icons..
So what's the next step? Do I have to use another app to apply this? Or do I put this folder in the SD card and install it using the recovery mode?
I might be totally going in the wrong direction here.. Would be nice if someone can point out the way! Thanks...
Well for one, no you can't apply it, or flash it. You have to set the background as wallpaper. Find a launcher that'll allow you to change icons and/or dock. (If your on GB id say Go,ADW,Launcher Pro. If your in ICS id say apex or Nova launcher). You have to press and hold and Icon until it asks you if you want to 'edit' the icon. Hopes this helps.

So i rooted my brothers kindle fire hd tonight on request.
he had downloaded an app from the Google store called freekindle or kindlefree where you basically download launchers.
deciding he didnt like these launchers and wanted to delete them he went into ES File Explorer and basically deleted the stock launcher.apk file that comes with the kindle. The kindle is still booted up and is running right now on a different launcher but i NEED to get it back to normal. If anyone can please help i will be so very grateful.

why do you want normal ?, you can put other like go launcher or nova launcher
Here's the stock Launcher.apk from the latest KFHD 7" software (7.2.3)
Try putting it back in the system/app directory and set the permissions to --rw-r-r-- with ES Explorer if not already like that.
Reboot the Kindle Fire after doing that & see if it works.

Certain apps such as the Kindle app don't launch in 3rd party launchers like Nova or Go Launcher, also sometimes they can crash (unlikely, but can happen) so having the default one to fall back on is not a bad idea
Fwiw
You can get these files from the amazon updates download on their page... just rename the download to zip

I think your best bet would be to simply change your ROM. PA has many great features, but it lacks in customizability. I know CarbonROM (I'm using it) has an option to remove the signal icon in the status bar.
Settings -> Carbon Fibers -> Statusbar ->Signal status style -> Hidden

Is that ouya launcher meant for tablets? Because if it is then try changing the screen density through build.prop

Hello I'm trying to enable live wallpaper support on my rooted amazon fire 5th gen tablet, I sideloaded wallpaper picker apk into /system/app with rw-r-r permissions but it just crashes can anyone help? does it require a lib or bin file to work?
P.S. I'm sorry If This post isn't the most organized I don't usually post to Xda unless there is a lack of posts on a topic or if the only posts are antiquated i.e. this one from 2012 obviously not very helpful with a newer generation kindle

if you downloaded the picker from this post you also need to download either the livewallpapers.apk or download one of the other separate live wallpaper apks. if that still doesn't work I'm going to have to upload one of my other pickers but I am at work and won't be home for several hours. I will do that later if needed. let me know your results and I'll see what I can do tomorrow if I need to do anything at all.
Also check system/etc/permissions for android.software.live_wallpapers.xml. if that is not present in your permissions folder you need to download that from somewhere doesn't matter where and add it to your folder and set the right permissions.
