Good day, I have a HTC velocity 4g running on ICS 4.0.3, rooted. Unfortunately, when i tried to view my recorded videos in gallery, it keeps on crashing saying "Unfortunately, view video has stopped". but i can record and take pictures with no issues, and also i discovered the stock music player also crashes, also saying " Unfortunately Music has stopped", can somebody please help me as this is very hassle on my part. I just bought this phone from a pawnshop. I tried hard resetting the phone 3 times but still the error appears, and also when i bought this phone it is already rooted. I hope someone expert here can help me, im a newbie in android. Thanks in advance for the help and god bless.
Moved to Q&A
Get an ruu from HTC website and run it...
It will return your phone to stock and hopefully fix your problem...
Just make a back up of your media that you have on your internal sd

RUU = ROM UTITLTY UPDATE
basically a stock rom update for the a carrier/manufacturer
eg:
Official AT&T Vivid ICS RUU from HTC http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1564776&highlight=ruu&page=3
[STOCK] RUU_HOLIDAY_ICS_35_S_BM_ for bell mobile http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662390&highlight=ruu
If you have a Velocity, you probably don't have ATT.. so don't use that RUU. here are all the Holiday RUUs (http://www.filefactory.com/f/002b74e0f4775869/) (thanks @Football)
Oh i see, so I need to download a RUU to update my velocity? do i just need to connect it with the usb cable after downloading the RUU? Thanks for the help. Its really mind boggling for me to understand any customization or upgrading a phone. Thanks for the help

if i remember correctly.. in order to install a RUU
You must have a locked boot loader ( locked by default) , so you need to check if yours is unlocked , which I suspect it is since rooted.
I think u will also loose ROOT.
after you run the ruu , its easy to relock the bootloader and root
get familiar with the SUPERTHREAD and the hasoon all in one tool kit...

if u dont have anything nice or helpful to say then shouldnt u just shhh? u took the time to say nothing ,im sure that is what everyone cares to read ?
im going to use this to help other noobs like myself that gets courageous enough to try rooting , customer roms unlocking etc. seems easy to the tech guys but some of the lingo is not so easy and u can make one bad move , i hope i didnt
at any rate here is where im at , i did get twrp setup in fastboot mode so all i have is fastboot mode to do anything atm ,, it appears like i said i somehow wiped my whole operating system , how i dont know but i have one more thing i think from the help of others may work and that is use a micro usb otg cable to hopefully flash the rom back on the phone , wish me luck , unfortunately im not sure locally where to buy one , i will go look this evening , but in the meantime i did order one for a couple of bucks on ebay just in case i couldnt find one locally , i will update
anymore input would be thankful and helpful

why cant you hook it up to a computer? i see that your getting fastboot and TWRP? if you can get either you should be able to sideload from the computer what you need to boot up again.
if you only have fastboot. then load TWRP via fastboot and then from TWRP, use sideload/command prompt to pump a rom on and then voila you should be good. if you already have TWRP just start from there..

I dont know where yo are currently at but if you recieved your phone back with kitkat that means your bootloader was upgraded. Your phone will not boot unless you either flash a 4.3 kernel or you flash a kitkat ROM. Let me know if this info helps

after your sideloading the rom onto the phone is it running and are you going through the installation? if you are and its still not loading properly then you may have a corrupted SD. you can try running a RUU. i think you have an ATT phone? if your S-OFF you can try this file ATT Android 4.3 RUU EXE file
that is the full RUU. it should ask you to start in a fully booted mode. just go ahead and start in Fastboot. when you press start it just sends the command to restart phone into fastboot so you can inject from there. i might be able to find something else for you but for now try this(assuming your s-off XD)
I'm trying to factory reset my HTC Desire C has it was feely slow, but I'm having trouble un-rooting the phone, Does anyone know of any way I could do this with my model please?
I've tried Quick Root but that just seems to get stuck removing the perm-root.
Thanks in advance.
I've attached the info of my phone, thank you.

You can do this: - lock bootloader
- power on device
- enable adb debugging on device
- make sure you have adb and fasboot working corectly
- connect device via usb to PC
- run RUU with administrator rights
- and from there on just follow the instructions given by software
- http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Golf
you really need the 2-4 lines i mentioned up for this to work
Well I managed to lock my bootloader and that, but when i tried to install the RUU it gave me a error. I think it might be an older version.
I think I'm going to need the 2.00.771.3 version :S
I think my phone is useless now. A bit of info, I tried factory resetting my phone (I have rooted my phone prior to this and stupidly thought that factory reset would get rid of the root) but when I reset my phone after the inital setup had gone through all menus it said setup has stopped working. Then my phone wouldn't work no apps or home screen, I could recieve calls and then go onto my settings at the top but nothing more then that, I'm not sure how I can get my phone working again now lol

Hello,
So my phone is unlocked, S-ON, and now it is stuck on the green HTC logo. I am using a HTC One Mini from the EE network in the UK. If anyone can help me out that would be great, perhaps a list of things to check or to do to step back and reset. I'm not sure ~what~ the problem is although I've tried to install a couple of ROMs and all have the same conclusion. Currently the phone has been left on for 16 hours on the green HTC logo so I know it's not just a slow boot. I'm also able to get into the bootloader and CWMR.
I don't care about going all the way back to the original ROM, I'd just like my phone to be working.
Is it possible to flash stock firmware and then a stock ROM to reset the phone? htc1guru is down which would be the source for the original rom, does anyone know an alternative?

Hi there eveyone, thank you for reading this.
a friend of mine has an HTC Desire OPM1100 D626ph (says on the back of the phone)
when he tries to update to the newer version (the official way) He faces an error, the phone restarts and its stuck now on an endless loop. the options he had was htc recovery menu. he has tried all the options there in hope of fixing the problem.(he doesn't know english) and he probably ruined everything. now the phone doesn't have a back up, nothing works. ADB wasn't turned on in the begining. no fast boot. the only options i think i have is to download a rom via sdcard.(not even sure if it's external)
these are the options on the menu:
reboot system now:
apply update from adb
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wipe /data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data
any help on this would be appreciated, any ideas what should be my next step? i have history of using fastboot/adb. i don't know which rom i should download and from where? htc website confused me and the onlyy thread i found on the internet was this one and there are several links on there. not sure which one should i use?
thanks again guys.
Which carrier is he on? Also, we would need to know if it's a 626, 626s, 626x, 626g, etc... Not sure which model it is from the info posted above. If it's a 626s, the only way to recover is if it's a T-Mobile 626s (no other versions have an RUU to restore it to stock).

thank you for your response
it's an HTC Desire 626G+ (dual sim) and the carrier is "Telecommunication Company of Iran"
Hmm - I would have him contact his carrier and see if they have an "RUU" available for that phone. An "RUU" is Windows application that will reset the phone back to the way it came from the factory - and can typically restore any phone - unless it has a hardware issue.
Otherwise, let's see if anyone else has any input (I'm not familiar with the 626g myself).
Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful!

i don't think the carrier would help out with this. though it made me think he didn't do anything wrong so do you think that warranty will accept the phone?
The carrier are the ones that need to supply the RUU (either directly or via HTC), which I why I mentioned that he should contact the carrier.
I would agree that it's a warranty issue if he we just trying to install an OTA update and it caused all of this...

i have same problem with D626ph. I was rooted phone with kingroot after this try to update with ota and result was error and phone boot only to recovery menu
Ahhh - yeah, if you are rooted (and unlocked bootloader), you cannot apply OTA updates. Although, usually, they fail right away and you can just boot right back into the phone normally (without the update, obviously). It's kinda strange that the OTA is bricking the phone like that.

Your link requires an decryption key.
pl provide key. facing the same problem with htc 626g+. Updated via official OTA. Sad that they rolled it without thoroughly testing it.
Have you guys contacted HTC and/or the carrier? They should resolve this issue for you (via an RUU or some other means)!

Guys thank you for your replies. I'm kinda new to xda forum. Should i reply one by one and quote people's names or just reply in one comment? Are there any rules?
About the post, it's weird that many people are experiencing the same problem! And where i live phone carriers don't care about phone problems and it's the first time I'm hearing that i should contact my carrier for my bricked device. But things are differently in different countries ?? to @tpr0 i might try your solution when i get my hands on the device againand if no one provides a better suggestion. Because i gave it back to my friend and told him to try the warranty. After a day turned out he has bought the device without a warranty! They sell phones without warranty in iran for a cheaper price. I think it's worth paying 50 more dollars for a 1-2 years warranty. Anyway I'll let you guys know as soon my friend returns his phone (which will be pretty soon I'm guessing. Meanwhile ill wait if anyone has a link for the ROM or a solution.
try this:

can u tell me the procedure for working with this file ??
