I was trying to find a decent cheap tablet but it seams that is not gonna happen at the moment. I have read the nook color is actauly quit the good tablet. My main concern is gameing though and the nook isnt speced vey high. Ho does it run higher end games such as Dungeon Defenders and Spectral souls.
OC...
All the thing I can say about this device is that it's worth for $250 NOW.
If you have more money (over $500), just wait...not worth to buy GT yet(compare to NC)
It seem like I miss the point...
Game?
On Android?
Nothing can beat NC yet...
Check this video out
"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXEZJSMrU1I"
But I can promise nothing about the future... Bunch of cool games will come out after Honeycomb...
In conclusion, NC is the best choice now. Otherwise just wait about 3 month...
Well although i admit android doesnt have tons of good games yet there is a decent amount of games i like to play on android. I should refrase i would like a decent android tablet for a nice price and it would be nice if it could run higher demandinng games then my Lg Optimus V. Im not interested on spending 500 dollars and up on a tablet i realy dont want to spend 250 as i dont have a ton of money to spend. Im either think the NC or a Kyros. I could always upgrade down the road im looking at buying a tablet in the next few weeks.
Then NC will be your best choice...It can do lots more than game...
I guess it's the best choice under $500...
Kinda off topic but hows the overall perfomence of the nook color then. Can it run live wallpapers. It seems higher speced then the LG Optimus V is this correct?
I haven't seen any slow down in any game yet. Most android games are designed with a specific resolution and android doesn't scale like iOS so you have game that doesn't take up full screen. There are still a lot of game with scaling. Nowadays developers make games for the medium spec android devices so a Nook Color will run everything fine. You do get some certain games that won't play on NC because of android fragmentation.
I play Angry Birds on the NC, and it looks fine. I confess I could not get opengl screensavers to run on it, but that may be because I am an android noob.

The Nook Color is actually very well spec'd for a tablet of its price and Android tablets in general. Its CPU/GPU is very good and runs, even on stock, most games (I play) without a hiccup. Pocket Legends is smooth as silk, all of my emulators and ROMs play without any lag or issues, and Angry Birds is good times. Not the games you're asking about specifically, but I don't see why they wouldn't run well.
Another Tegra powered game available now that the XOOM has been launched. Works well on the gtab.

Very cool. Hopefully more companies decide to jump on the bandwagon too.
Somebody who bought this,
Does this have any more stuff in it than just the original game, or just better graphics. Im content saving the three bucks since I already have the original if there is nothing else new. Thanks

is there a chance to play the THD version of fruit ninja on a non-tegra phone? i mean a high end smartphone like SGS or nexus or whatever with a hack of course...is there a hope?
The original Fruit Ninja looks gorgeous already on 3 to 4 inch screens so the THD version may seem like an an overkill for them. In fact i run the THD version on my Gtab and normal version on my HTC Desire and they look exactly the same.

That's the point though... imho... 4 inches streached to 10 looks like drippy monkey poo. Something DESIGNED for 10 inches looks it should with no pixelation.
This game is fun, imho and well done graphics-wise.

Same thing I was wondering bc I would think that my Vibrant should be more then able to handle some tegra games.
Both the regular version and Seasons. It starts to look blurry and a little choppy…kind of like there is a problem with the screen refresh rate. Not 100%, bit I think it happens when the ad pops up. Sort of strange because Dungeon Defenders, Maps, YouTube...all play sharp and clear.
(Weird too, because Birds never looked bad on the gTablet.)
Anybody else having this?
Looks good on mine.

Looks great on my xoom. It has already been optimized for xoom. That's the 1st game people play when they take my xoom for a ride

I noticed the same thing. After 10 minutes or so of playing it gets choppy. Now sure if its the ads as I use adblock and dont see any.
I have been playing Angry Birds Rio and it looks great on the XOOM. Got it for free from Amazon.com

I agree. Rio looks really good on the zoom. Seems they upped the graphics because it does look better then the previous versions.

I would have to agree as well. But the other angry birds look pretty good on my Xoom and I don't really notice any choppiness.
mine looks good also. is there a way to get rio working without the amazon app?
I went ahead and laid down 99 cents for both the original and seasons versions of Birds on the Amazon app store. Both look better now that they aren't trying to cohabitate with the ads. Was worth the money, although the paid versions still take you to the Rovio news page when you pause the game or access it's menu, and that's even more annoying than the ads were.
+1 on Rio looking awesome!
Don't get me wrong I think Android is great but I think it lacks a lot compared to the games for Iphone.
Why havn't the Devs come along and built the same type of QUALITY games for android that they have done for Iphone?
I have just sat for about an hour and hunted in the Android market for games similar to games ive just searched for on the itunes store, and all I can really find is cheap nasty replicas with bad graphics, shocking reviews and even scamming copies of certain games Zombies WAW is one thats on the market now.
Does anyone think/know if the gaming quality will be ever be as good as the Iphone, becasue I hate Iphones and it would kill me to get one to just play decent games.
Hmm, doubt it.

Why searching the same games? If I want to play iphone like games no doubt the best choice is....iPhone.
Android is the first operating system on phones in the world, and if you want good games you can have plenty... Android is not ios so don't think you'll find the same apps.

+1 for that. Android has many great games. for examples, games made by gameloft have nice graphics. Or from Pocket Legends. Cut the Rope (similar to iOS) also nice, angry birds, etc. Or my other favorite puzzle/mystery games such as mystery of the crystal portal, paranormal agency, etc. Many great games. Maybe it's because there are many more free games in android, many developers just upload crappy games. But if u want to search games that may (or may not) resemble iphone, u'll be pleasantly surprised at the results. Some android phones have better hardware than iphone. So, I guess there'll be many games that u'll love as long as u can find them.
The iphone is the most popular phone in the world.
Game companies want to make the most money possible.
They choose Apple over Android.
...
mega profit?
That is the only reason. That, and the fact that they only have to make one version of said game that will work on pretty much ALL apple devices, whereas, a decent looking Android game wont work on phones without GPU's, which is probably around 40-odd% of all Android phones on the Market.
Eventually, android will catch up with games and apps, and the gap is getting smaller and smaller all the time. It wont take long.

I really do hope they catch up, this is my list of PAID apps which are great but i'm a little disapointed at the THD games there are so few to choose from, I thought that the Nvidia Tegra Zone would be packed with great games, and at the moment there are only appox 15 games avaliable and it's been out quite a while now.
Sentinel 3: Homeworld
Samurai II: Vengeance THD
Airport Mania 2: Wild Trips
Sprinkle
Reckless Getaway
Cut the Rope
Fieldrunners HD
Guns'n'Glory
Bang Bang Racing THD
Fruit Ninja THD
Moto X Mayhem
Trial Xtreme
Pinball HD for Tegra
Guerrilla Bob THD
Reckless Racing PLAY
Death Worm
Agent (Shooter)

My 15 year old nephew wants a mobile phone and I was thinking of suggesting this one, the mini. His basic use apart from phone calls will be playing games. Is the mini worth it? Can it play games well. He has a net connection at home and can download using WiFi so that is not an issue. Is the processor and GPU good enough? Can the memory store many games?
Apart from this there don't seem many choices in this price range for Android phones and I feel Android is the best choice.
If anyone has other phone suggestions, please let me know.
if u r intrested in high graphics games..den it lags..high graphics games lags in this device..

Don't know much about which games are high graphics. Can he play simple games like Angry Birds? Which games would lag?
Any other phone suggestion in similar price range?
