Convert to epub using Calibre and then upload to Google Books.
Then you can read them on any phone / tablet / computer

Amazon kindle seem doesn't support free conversion for kindle ebooks as far as I know, of course, You can use online conversion but it's very slow.

16g sdcard now 32megs...

Hi all. Just got the color nook today and rooted it with autonook. It is a 16g sandisk. Tried to use it and now just shows 32 megabytes in size. This was after I used winimage to put the 1.01 upgrade to root it. How to I get it back to 16g? Tried to format it in win 7...no luck. As a side note,.this baby is wonderful and a hell of alot more portable then my ipad.
Go into nook setting, device info, and sdcard, unmount and format

[Q]Nook HD 8gb

I'm sorry if this has already been covered but im new to the tablet field.
I have just bought a Nook hd 8gb and want to remove the current pope interface (software) and put on a normal android 4.01 software.
Is there a simple guide on here I can follow to achieve this with stable software?
I just want google play on my nook.
Cheers.
I think you want the HD forum. This one is for the non-HD version.

You cannot yet replace the stock software on the HD. And the software available on SD is only available for the HD+. The only thing you can do to the root the stock and make a few mods yo it.

It sounds to me that you want a different launcher, one that looks like standard Android. You'll need to set up ADB, at least, and possibly root your HD. Then you can install a launcher like Nova or ADW and get a more standard Android look. To do that, check out Leapinlar's tips thread in the
HD/HD+ General forum. Setting up ADB may be the hardest part.

Given that I am a newbie on this forum, what would I need to learn in order to help develop things on the HD? I run a linux system, have compiled kernels, went through LFS to learn about linux systems, have written basic android apps, am comfortable in C, and have played with the kitchen and modified my own ROMS with it.
Does the HD boot from the SD card? If so, what needs to be in place to get it to happen?

I see why not, I think both HD and HD+ can boot from the SD card, that said we don't own one but from the hardware and software perspective, it make more sense that way. As far as what you need to make it happen, you basically have to build your own CM10. Get CM10 source code and compile it for the HD. You probably can use the same instruction method as shown in verygreen CM10 as far as installation goes(meaning making the SD card and CWM), but the image to make SD card you have to do it yourself.

I attempted to boot in store an HD from the CWM SD card of evergreen. It booted into the stock. Now, clearly there are a lot of variables here that could go wrong. Is the required layout of the SD card the same for the HD and the HD+?

The SD card setup for HD+ won't work on HD. Verygreen said, in another thread, that the kernels in the two devices are different. We need an SD solution designed specifically for HD.

I would like to get to the place where I understand how to approach a problem like this. What questions should be asked? What standards are there? So, for example, what differs between the HD and HD+ on boot? If they both will boot from SD, are they looking in different spots on the SD? expecting different things? Since CWM didn't even boot, this is way before the kernel takes hold (from my understanding at least).

The HD has different booting files than the HD+. The HD+ version of the SD will not boot in it. There has to be a special version made for it and that has not been done.
Specifically, the bootloader (u-boot.bin) and other files are different. The SD booting structure is the same, just the HD+ files on the verygreen SD won't work on the HD. He explains that on his CM10 thread.

So I assume u-boot needs to be configured for the specific board in the HD and the MLO provided. I'd also guess that the specific board is not one of the standard supported boards.

[Q] **HELP** New Nook HD questions...

I've just recently purchased the Nook HD and I did not know I was going to dislike the B&N system it runs on. I just want to run the Android system off of it and it is very difficult. I researched plenty of ways to do it, but they are all very complicated. I have an SD card. Is there an easier way to put the Android system onto my Nook?

No, if you want something besides stock you must use an SD.
I have a simple description on how to install the hybrid on the HD+ linked in my signature. I know you have an HD, so you need to follow my guide but use the files from the HD Hybrid thread. Also on the HD, the converter zip is not necessary. Just skip that step.

[Q] Nook HD file support

I have a Nook HD it hasnt been modded. I was trying to play a APK file game from my SD card and the Nook would not recognize it. Can anyone tell me what type of file format my game should be to play? What are the formats of the games that you get from the Google Playstore?
Thanks for any help.

That apk file does not 'play', it installs the application. And in order to install an apk file on a stock HD, you must go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a bootable CWM SD and use it to flash my Enable Unknown Sources zip. Then the apk will install.

OK So in what format are the NOOK HD games? What program should I use to flash the card? I tried downloading WIN32 discimager but it wont download properly. Would having WINrar installed on my desktop be effecting it? What other programs are there for disc imaging?
Thanks for the help.

Just read the instructions in that thread. Winrar should not matter. You should keep trying to get win32diskimager working.
And I don't know what you mean by format of games. The installation file is an apk.

[Q] HD+ Something wrong with internal storage after wiping

I just installed CM11-3/28, and it's working perfectly so far.
I was stuck at the cyanogenmod robort the first time, so I wiped data and installed again. It succeeded this time, but the internal storage is now only 27G in all. I guess the original data was somewhere on emmc, but no idea how to find and remove them.
Wish some help, thanks:)

Look in /data/media. You can remove most of the stuff there. Just leave the 0 and clockworkmod folders and their contents. The rest is old stock media files you probably do not want. But 27GB for internal storage is not bad since it does share the 32GB with the CM11 /system files and /data files.

Sorry, I didn't express myself clear. I can find it on my device but not after connecting to computer (don't know how to make nook a removable device instead of portable device, so that can show all stuff). The profile is over 3G so it would be hard to replace it on Nook.

So sorry for that><, actually I am confused myself. I have two questions.
The first is, total space of Nook should be 32G, but it now shows only 27G on my device, I wanna see if I can find out what the 5G is when connected to my computer. But under USB debuging mode, it still shows only internal storage(27G) instead of the whole emmc(32G). So, according to your first reply, is the 5G capacity system memory? If so, I don't need bother.
The second one is still about connecting to computer. I can visit data/media on my device but not on my computer, how can I get root access to Nook from my computer? (I found this, but haven't tried yet http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587717)

I don't know why you think you need to have access to root with your PC when you have it directly on the Nook. Just use your root file manager to look at and delete any unnecessary files as I described earlier. Those locations are the only ones to get rid of. The rest are required so don't mess with them. And the maximum you will have will be about 28GB since the rest is used by files necessary to operate CM.

To back up leapinlar, even android in settings -> storage, shows 27.01GB total space for me. Not more. Like he said, that's all you get. Normally, any hard drive that says x amount will have less - the one is your computer does as well (normally). That's how it is.
While its really good your learning, like leapinlar, I'm getting the feeling like your pushing to crash the device. That's fine if your confident that you can bring it back from that or don't care or have someone else around to fix it. Don't let anyone stop you from learning but just remember - if it crashes - you'll have to deal with it.

Thank you so much for answering!
'adb shell' is what you're looking for. It can be difficult to setup and get working for our device, but it's worth it in the long run.
