If you go for a good screen protector "Martin Fields is the best out now as per my knowledge" you should not be having any issues at all..
As capacitive screens have been in the market for quite a long time
I use the screen protector with the Mozart, il est tres bien pour proteger l'ecran htc Mozart
I recieved mine yesterday. ordered one from brando.
it fits nearly perfect. top/bottom i have total less than 1mm uncovered, left/right less than 0.5mm each side.
at first it felt a little like it would be "stopping" movements, but its way better now and i only notice the protector if i get a close look on bottom edge.

but i'm not so sure of the quality, i will test these screen protector this week
Yes , i use the screen protector for HTC Mozart and to be frank there are no problems using it ... its much better to use a screen protector
anyone not using a screen protector? is it really gorilla glass and scratch resistant?
there is no need for a protector
accidentally dropped my mozart the other day. quite lucky i got a screen protector on it as it now has a big long scratch on it. i wonder if the gorilla glass would take the heat though. dont really wanna take the risk lol.
that said. anyone from malaysia who knows where to get some decent casings?
when one of the htc heads came to our country to advertise their phones, he was laughing that a lot of us are using screen protectors. he said their phones are using gorilla glass and there is no need for screen protectors. i want to try it though but i am scared to not use a screen protector.
Ny mozart must consist of hot butter... Scratces easily... Would like to punch the HTC representative om his nose... Gorilla glass ny ass:-(

I managed to get a nice one for MYR30.00 unbranded casing from one of the shops at Carre Foure Subang Jaya. However, it was the only one. You may try there.
Is anyone using the Martin Fields screen protector?
I am considering getting one although want some feedback from a fellow Mozart user who has one. Perhaps a picture of it applied to the phone as well?
my screen protector is starting to get bubbles and i cant see any screen protectors here anymore, i am VERY tempted to start using it without any screen protector, but i am afraid what might happen. haha!
Do use them
new here but thought i just write a quick note on saying DO USE SCREEN PROTECTORS.
I brought 2 Mozart for ebay. (one worked one was dead) so i thought i see how easy it was to scratch the screen with keys or money and just in the pocket.
so i placed the dead one in a pocket without a screen protector and some money and went to work (im a electrical installers so i lift alot of washing machine ect) after about a hour of normal lifting and walking i had a scratched the screen only a small one but it was noticable.
So i then put the keys in my pocket and within about 15mins i had a 1 inch scratch along the screen.
So i then tryed without anything and still managed to scratch the screen i think that was when i pulled it out the pocket i might have caught it on a metal stud that are on my jeans pocket.
on my working one i have a otterbox case and screen protector and carry it everyday with money and keys and its still in a perfect condition.
now im sure you will say that because its not normal for carring washing machine ect with money and keys but why take the risk there screen protector are pennys maybe a few quid and i still managed to scratch the screen with nothing in my pocket.
Just my thoughts on the subject
So which screen protector do you have sleepymonk?
And orubourus? Which screen protector do you have? I'd like to avoid yours if it started to form bubbles. :-/
Thanks
Im using the screen protector which came with my otterbox commuter case. the case itself was a bit expensive £23 but i think it worth the money to keep the phone protected
i used momax. nice and clear screen protectors.
Hi guys,
So my mum dropped the Optimus Black that I bought her and it has cracked on the front - can someone on here please tell me how I would check whether it is only the front glass screen that needs replaced or the actual entire LCD? I'm very n00bish when it comes to this stuff.
Thanks all
Ok, I'm pretttty sure it's only the outer glass screen that's shattered and the actual LCD is fine.
Ordered a replacement part online, will update you all on how difficult it is to replace .
can you tell me where you ordered it ? I'm looking that too
Damn that sucks

if the screen is still running, I am pretty sure it is just the upper layer of the LCD screen.

I changed the digitizer of my previous phone, the Galaxy Spica, and the digitizer was glued to the outer rim of the LCD so i had to use force to get them apart.
Br,

My friend's p990 also had a scratch on his screen
seems this gorrilla is just a chimp
Pretty sure it's not "titanium glass", just hardened glass, so don't expect it to be invulnerable. Get a screen protector, don't put your phone in with keys, coins, or anything else with sharp edges, and don't drop your phone this should keep it nice and shiny for a long time.
I once cracked my screen of Desire HD... Before buying anything, be 100% sure whether the top glass is mounted onto the LCD below; or glued to it with some sort of special chemical.
When I broke my DHD screen; I bought only the upper glass part from Ebay. But turned it, the top glass part was glued to the LCD. So I had to buy the LCD and glass part together...

but the "advertisement" on u-thub says differently
does anyone has a how to for dissasembling the phone?
the screen is scratch resistant. personally tried and tested using a sharp knife. i still use a screen protector, though, because we can never tell! i guess gorilla glass is still glass. it's just scratch and impact resistant, as seen on youtube.
This happened to me too the other day. The phone slipped out of my hand and onto a rather soft vinyl floor. Screen is now cracked all over, but working.
As it seems no-one here has been able to replace the screen themselves with ebay replacement glass (probably plastic anyway), I'll just throw my OB in the trash, and gladly so, because of LG's broken promises to update the phone. Thinking back, I might even have had a smirk on my face when I realized what had happened. At least now I have an excuse to get the Galaxy Nexus or some other phone from a decent, self-respecting company, and finally be at peace with the phone I own. With the OB I could feel a bit of frustration every time I used it. Frustration (or pity really) is something I also felt when I checked this forum, since the mods kept closing all the GB-related threads for no apparent reason other than to demonstrate their power.
Without LG, life will indeed be good
"the screen is scratch resistant" - well i made a scratch by simply cleaning the screen with some textil made for cleaning glasses

The glass would need to be capacitive touchscreen capable I think?
Would be interesting/good if that is true.
Samsung service centre told me before that the original amoled screen, touch panel and glass comes as a single unit/ part.
Hope you are right.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
The capacitive touch panel IS the glass. You cannot order any glass and place it on top of the screen. You need a touch panel, and yes, they come as an assy with the screen.
For 100% You will need a touch panel.
i still have the touch on the screen and am still able to use the phone i know its a oem screen from samsung as the screen was new when got it from shop ... funny how people jump the gun and think that somethink that (cant be done ) can be done im happy to go on fb ring txt and everything else on this phone with the glass OFF!!! and is 100% useable can even upload a video to youtube and will show you lot wrong hahaha whos larfing now ..... my ass you need to go out and buy the whole lot ... no you dont as i have showen you . the way i found out was i had a old samsung i9000 and it was busted to hell . so had a go at taking the screen away from the bk and saw that you have the screen then touch panel glued together then the touch to the glass so i fort with my working i9000 (with cracked glass only) i start tapping away from the front and there you have it . it started to work and then atm to stop me from scraching the touch sheet coz its not glass its like a soft plastic i am using a screen guard and its working a charm .... show me wrong people but im sat here with the glass off my phone and phone still working . i give this job a 9/10 on hardness tho so good luck
glass can be replaced pic shows touch still on screen
in this pic i have showen were the touch ribbon is still on to the touch screen as people still dont believe me that this can be done lmao

hi, if anyone is still interested. this is really pssible, ive separated the outer glass 5 min ago. used a thin sheet of plastic and the heat of a hair dryer. it took me an hour to do so
The glass would need to be capacitive touchscreen
Funny how people can't seem to be able to read.
He's PROVEN separate glass to be the case, it's not a question.
Now whether or not a new glass can be fitted onto the old capacitive layer just like that remains to be seen...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
i can CONFIRM, that the outer Gorilla glass is just a tempered glass thats glued to lcd/digitizer assebly with transparent silicone-like glue. the touchscreen works 100% fine without the gorilla glass. ive ordered the replacement for outer glass and will report back when i get it and if it works right with some video footage. unfortunately i wil have to wait for it for about 3 week, because its located in china
Did the new glass worked?
Hello there, since I recently got my glass look like a willow tree at the late autumn (dropped my Galaxy S and the glass is all cracked up) but the touchscreen is still intact and fully operational and working flawlessly I am interested on your progress to know if it's possible to fix just the glass and to get eventual information on how you did it if you succeeded with replacing just the glass, info on where you got a new glass and stuff would also be much appreciated in case your homemade repair worked. Thanks in advance.
Any news? The ten days should be over now....
Same problem
Any news? I have the same problem.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25C3ymJdkVI
IT IS POSSIBLE... but i have failed
Last days i have finally try to change only the glass on my i9000. No success, but i was very close.
After i have clean the remaining glue from the glass that i buy i have follow the steps from the youtube video from post before. I mention that S3 glass seems to be more flexible and the glue a little more soft.
I have warm up the display surface but not to warm (after i remove the main-board and other).
After i have started to take the glass piece by piece with my swiss multi knife (big mistake)
I have proceed with careful until i have started to be more and more sure at me, and, as you can imagine i have make the big mistake - broke the display.
I don't know if in glass removing process or when i have try to remove the remaining glue with a microfiber tissue i have press a little to hard and i broke the display (a little rift).
I have failed but i am sure if you have patience and more appropriate tool you can succeed.
Please take in calculus that without the glue between the two parts the screen is more reflexive and the contrast is not like before. There is no electrical connection between the touch and the display.
Now the touch under the rift on the screen is not working anymore and the phone is almost useless. The top part of display is working perfect!
Sorry for my english and here is some pictures:
Nice
I saw multiple threads on this forum about people reporting issues about this phone screen including cracks and scratches and even breaking my question is is this true although the phone screen should have Gorilla glass ? And do I need to put on screen protector ?
Thanks in advance and hoping someone should answer me.
check the Corning's website, in the products section, for HTC phones, and you'll see that it's not listed there... neither Sensation XL, nor Sensation XE, only the regular Sensation...
also, I've talked to a guy from HTC support (Romania), and he confirmed that the Sensation XL does not come with Gorilla Glass, unfortunately...
some users say they don't use any screen protection, and they didn't get any scratches, others say they did... so, maybe some of them have, others don't...I think you should consider buying a screen protector...
I'm buying this phone in a few days, and, even though I'd really like to use the phone as it is (no case/screen protector), for the money I'm paying for it, I though it's best to get a case and a screen protector... at least for a while...
but how can this happen? such a unique phone doesn't have gorilla glass inspite other earlier phones have it.and regarding the gorilla website ,if you check that list you will see that some recent phones aren't listed as well like htc titan and htc one.Iam really confused.
IT DOES HAVE GORILLA GLASS, I HAVE MY PHONE ( XL ) FOR A FEW MONTHS AND I HAVE NO SCRATCHES ON IT, OR ANY KIND OF DAMAGES. AND FOR THE MOST PART I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROTECTIVE CASE, AND I NEVER USED SCREEN PROTECTOR. AND FOR THOSE PEOPLES THAT HAVE PROBLEMS ,THEY PROBABLY DIDN'T TAKE ANY CARE FOR THEIR PHONES, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOME HANDFUL OF PEOPLES THAT WOULD COMPLAIN OVER THE QUALITY OF THEIR PHONE SCREENS

Dude, check out the thread i started. I have alot of issues with the screen but i take really good care of my phone. I have a big scratch at the top of my phone, which probably got there cause the screen couldnt handle the difference in temperature of warm pockets and cold winter air.
?????
My phohe was experiencing cold many times this winter -18 ( Celsius ) at a time even -20 C, and even heat, and i have no scratches .I never heard that scratch would appear because of a cold weather. That is really silly
Not sure on the gorilla glass, but I have mine in the pocket without a case, and with my keys in, I used to worry, not anymore!
Not like my Desire-z that screen used to scratch if you had a bit of sand on your finger
I asked a htc rep at work at work and as expected the phone doen't have it. As proof my friend dropped mine today and its now cracked. Luckily I'm not paying for the repair
Dont know how people using their devices, but i carry it in my pocket without any protection (except at work is somethimes in leather case cause of difficult conditions) and it have no scratches.
Even on ace after 1 year of usage there is no a single scratch.
well
Well a long time ago i have spoken with a HTC customer care and they told me that there isn't GG on XL.
I do not use any kind of protectors or else. Go to the gym, work, throw it at my place everywhere and didn't get any scratches.
I am not a fan from screen protectors and would rather not to use one. Because most of them are made somewhere in some asian garage and we don't know what material did they use. If i scratch it one day i will replace the whole front glass with another. I am not used to serve the tech....the tech must serve me
Does it even matter if the SXL has gorilla glass or not? My Desire HD had gorilla glass and i put a big scratch on the screen when it fell off my bed (No lie). It's not all it's cracked up to be. Normal mineral glass is just as good IMO.

Hello fellow xda-users,
since i´m coming from a Sensation i didnt have the "luck" (or maybe not?) to get my hands on Gorilla Glas 2.
I saw multiple threads about GG2 on the HOX and the SGS3 claiming it scratched during normal daily usage.
My Sensation (GG1) still doesnt have a single scratch after 2 years without a screen protector.
Will we have the same problems on the ONE as on the HOX?

True, maybe someone with a GG2 Device (you?) could comment on the overall scratch resistance on other devices since some people seem to think that the scratches aren´t really on the screen but on a coating that comes from the device manufacturer.
Thanks
I have GG2 on my Lg Optimus G. I work in manufacturing and I keep my phone in my pocket with out a screen protector and old a TPU case on it. I have no scratches on my glass even when it goes in the same pocket as my keys
My One S has gg2. It's been almost 8 months since i bought the phone, and i haven't put a screen protector since day 1. Still no scratch, not even a tiny bit..

I've also had no problems with my HOX that has GG2. Never had a screen protector for this phone. We will have to wait and see how it will be on the One.
Thanks guys, i´ll still wait for the first scratch tests but you eased my mind allready. :good:
I've had the EVO lte since launch with no screen protector. I've on a couple of occasions, dropped it. Once I was getting out of my lifted jeep and it fell out onto my driveway and slid face down for a few feet. And another time on my concrete patio landing on the top corner and bounced a few times. To my surprise, both times the screen suffered not a blemish. I purchased a new housing because of the paint damage and all was easily as new. So I wouldn't be too worried about gorilla glass.
