Using HTC's keyboard and Google's Keyboad, I hit the mic button and the little speach window pops up showing the mic, however, it does not turn red or react to my voice. I hit the mic and nothing happens. I've rebooted and tried the different keyboards. Please help. Thanks!

Hi:
I've been searching for info how to achieve the following, which I can't get done so far:
I have stereo bluetooth headphones with a mic. These are great for receiving calls, when you don't have the phone easily accessible, like in the car etc.
They have only two buttons, one is a two-way joystick for loudness. The other one is a receive/hangup button using which you can accept incoming calls.
What I'd like to do is to enable it to activate voice dial when I press it, to make a phone call.
So far I've only discovered that if I hold it depressed a long time, then the headset redials the last-dialed number.
In some instances after a call, when I've pressed the button, voice dial has come up and asked for the called id, however I cannot replicate this behavior, and it doesn't do it when the home screen is visible. Only I think after I've dialed from the headset, then hang up. Then at that screen press the button, but it's not stable.
So it seems though, to use the button to activate voice-dial is possible. I'd just like to set it up so that it works.
Anyone know how to?
Try holding one of the buttons
Depending on the BT adapter, you might have to hold down the receive/hangup button till you hear a confirming beep.
its usually a short press for voicedial a little longer press for redial last number. so try just doing short press insead of holding it down
My cappy is rooted, but with stock rom. Originally, I remember being able to answer and end calls using the button on the stock headset / headphones.
Now, if I press the button, a media program such as double twist starts up. I have disabled the setting in doubletwist that mentions headset controls.
Shouldn't the button be able to end/initiate calls? If so, what the heck do I have to do to fix this?
Thanks!
Maybe a tasker profile can help you
Try un-installing double twist to see if it comes back, check all other music apps, also, did you mess with button re mapping in galaxy tuner?
Sent from my Samsung Captivate i896 Canadian, eh?
looks like it might be subsonic. found a few other people on subsonic's forums that appear to have the same problem. doubletwist's option to ignore the headset seems to work. going to uninstall subsonic to see for sure...

I've got a minor voice search issue. I'm using speaktoit's assitant app, which is very helpful at times. Before I updated my ROM (insertcoin for HTC One) everything worked perfectly, but since the update, the behavior of two things are not how I like and I cant figure out how to fix them.
1. Pressing the home button and dragging up launches my assistant app. I want to disable that entirely. it already launches on home button long-press
2. When I speak, the voice search box shows that its listening to my voice, but when I stop talking, it keeps listening for a good 10 seconds before it actually passes off to the assistant. It used to be near instant, but now its as if it can no longer detect when i've stopped talking. Now I have to hit the mic button to stop it.
of course, these aren't critical, just minor, slightly annoying behaviors I'd like to iron out, and I can't find the info on google, so I'm asking the experts.
i've been having issues with my phone recently. 2 seeming unlrelated problems
the volume rocker is borked. there's almost no tactile feedback to it, and its very unresponsive. when i press vol down, it pretty much turns the volume all the way down to the bottom even if i just try and tap it. and when i press up its very hard to get it to go up
the other problem is the voice control. it seems like the mic will randomly decide not to take any sound input. no one has complained that they can't hear me on phone calls, but when i try and set up voice commands or do voice texting, you can see on the screen that its not "hearing" anything.
anyone else having either of these problems?
btw, stock lollipop, not rooted
