Hello guys,
I got a weird issue with cmw beckups
I have done 5 of them, but dont know why, under the folder clockworkmod in the folder 0 (using 4.2.2), there arent any backups..
But they are working all, as im restoring them without any problem
Where are they stored?
They're in /data/media/0/clockworkmod

nope they aren't. running nexus 7 android 4.3 cwm 6.0.3.5 can't see them in ROM manager and can't find a way to remove them from recovery.
so where would i find them? oh and using astro file manager.

I feel so stupid. Should have backed up before trying to do this, but...
I was trying to upgrade my TouchWiz30Launcher.apk but I gave up, unfortunately, i did rm Touch*.apk. I have no idea what the h311 I was thinking, but luckily I only lost the calculator and the calendar. I found the stock calculator apk and put it back. Works fine, but I am having trouble with the calendar. I was having trouble finding the right one and it foobared the app. It is no longer in the installed list and not executable anymore.
ANY help would be appreciated. Freaking out a bit as I like my calendar. Gahhh!
Thanks all.

I flashed it as an OTA upgrade (well, using the Samsung crap). I don't have the original flash file.
I've tried to execute the .apk and it goes and looks like it is trying to install and then says (with a check mark mind you) Application not installed. How awesome is that.
Any other ideas?

I think if you flash the firmware via Odin without repartitioning, you'll get the Samsung apps reinstalled and user data not wiped

Fastest way will be just the desired apk and then use root explorer to push it to system>app

Well, I tried that. I found a file in what I think is a compatible firmware and pulled the TouchWizCalendar.apk on to my sdcard and copied it to the /system/app folder. Doesn't seem to work. It's like it's not there. I tried to rename the TouchWizCalendar.odex file to TouchWizCalendar.odex.bak too without success.
Is there something that I'm missing?
Perhaps someone with 2.3.3 and Titanium Backup could backup the app and send it to me? TB can restore an app that isn't on the system, right?

Oh I'm sorry, if only there was some way to find and download the stock firmware for the i9000 and i9000m, which is listed in a thread dedicated to stock firmware for the SGS.
I just bought my self a new 16gb sd card. I was wondering if there was a way to make cwm backup my nandroid to my external sd card as opposed to my internel one?
Thanks

Can I just install this over the current version of cwm Im using? Will it effect my current rom?
The new recovery from thecubed (5.5.0.4) let's you pick between internal and external(default). If you're using another recovery for some reason then just use a file explorer app to cut and paste from one location to the other.

I am using an older version of CWM. All I want to know is can I just install the new version over my old version without returning to stock or loosing current rom.

have you read the recovery thread?
does it specifically say you have to return to stock?
recovery has nothing to do with the rom, so no, you wont lose it

I did read it...it didnt say I needed to but the instructions were talking about installing it right after you unlocked the boot loader, so I was making sure I didnt have to go back and start the whole process again.
Thanks for making it clear!
I don't know why this is happening when trying to install apps..Some install fine but most like this XDA Premium app does not install..Any ideas?
EDIT: Just for giggles i tried installing the free version of xda and it installs but when the paid version is attempted to install i get the could not install message

There is no stock RUU released yet. and my One has root and works fine, so I don't think it can be the root method.

I'd say just use one of the roms, sideload apps you use daily and wait it out. nandroiding to a different device is bad news, my friend.
I also am having the same issue with not being able to install to sdcard, you're not alone.

Same here. Luckily my TiBackup seems to be installing everything fine, just have to wait out a fix and sideload in the meantime.
Edited... Always read the entire ROM thread before posting... quick fix is listed in there.
I've been having the problem since I installed ViperROM last night. Viper is working on finding a fix. For now, I copied my TiBu files over from my Evo LTE and restored them that way.
Same problem
Running viper

fine then don't co-operate. good luck
Stock kernel imposes system partition write protection following boot, so you can't modify or delete any system apps without a modified kernel.
Pulled a real bonehead move and formatted /system and /data to flash a rom but then I guess I formatted /sdcard too and lost my backups. Does anyone have a backup of their stock rom you can send me??
There's a whole thread of stock backups. Did you search?

In the m8 forums? Yes I did search but couldn't find anything. Is it different from an RUU cause I tried flashing one and couldn't because I'm s-on I guess.

I had cm luckily. I got it to work by pushing to TWRP backup location which was /data/media/twrp/backups. I tried putting it in /sdcard/twerp first but for some reason that wasn't the right location. Then just did a restore and it worked!
