What's the difference? Thanks.
Basically,
Root gives you administrative controls over android.
S-off gives you administrative controls over your entire phone.

all three won't work here ... we have boot loader locked by default so you need to follow one of the guides posted here ...
but if your asking in general ... the end result is the same
Like s-off. I do have a feeling that s-on hboot unlocked does not fully root my phone. I tried overclocking/underclocking using oc/uv beater and setcpu. And my phone hangs. But in available memory and speed, theres a difference from the stock rom.

I've been wanting to root my HTC vivid for months now. I have two issues, I'm on ics and I only have a Mac running osx tiger 10.4. If anyone can help me unlock my boot loader and root I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm really upset, that I can't do anything with my computer even though it's fast enough to do things like unlocking the bootloader and rooting. I remember the days when all you needed was a computer, not a speafic one. I also can't believe you guys can't or won't help me. I want root bad, but not bad enough to buy a new computer. I know someone on here can get me rooted and a unlocked bootloader. Come on guys help.

I'm using this guide in installing the android sdk and maybe I can get adb to work, what you guys think?

Try downloading paralles. And installing windows in that. Get all your drivers and stuff together. And follow guides on here as they're in Windows.

Hi guys just wondering, i have the sudden want to S-OFF my phone but i want to check if my H-Boot version is compaible with the S-OFF method.
If you have updated to ICS from the manufacturer you should be good to go. Even if you are still on GB there is an s-off kit for either version of android

The dev of the s-off process recommends it and will not help troubleshoot without it ..
But..
Homeslice managed to s-off without going back to stock...
FYI: I know he did so pre-CM10 so maybe a sense ROM?

There is only the one proven method that I know of for this phone...
Do not be intimidated...
All the wire trick is... is finding a ground that causes a reboot in a different manner... and allows the exploit to run...
Be not afraid

So I recently rooted my Tmobile HTC One in order to remove some bloatware that I don't want. I don't really feel the need for a custom ROM with this phone like I have with past phones, so I'm running stock, just rooted.. However, I don't use Facebook and there are a number of other things (tmobile account bs and lookout security) that I don't want on the device. I used Ti backup to uninstall these applications, but they reappear after a reboot.
I have never had this problem in the past. Am I missing a step to keep these apps from coming back?
Thanks

you need a kernel with write protection disabled; so either a custom kernel for your version or the wp mod somewhere around. don't know where it is, otherwise i would have put the link for you.

ok, now I've got a start, thanks,
I'm pretty sure you're s-on. Search for s-off, you'll find plenty of information about that. Unfortunately, I think you cannot s-off if you have 4.2 or newer.

Looking for information on how to root my AT&T Tab S
SM-T807A
T807AUCU1ANK1
Yes, I know about the locked bootloader. It didn't stop root for the AT&T S4 and S5 phones. What I want is a way to get my Tab S hooked up to ADB in such as way as to dump my ROM. I have a linux machine that I can use to get a stable ADB, I just need help getting it set up. Haven't used ADB since I rooted my Kindle Fire way back when.
SRS Root claims to work, but does not actually root the device although the process will complete. I tried the Geohot methods, and anything I could that wasn't too risky.
Is it possible to induce a crash in the android system via ADB directly? That way exploit the hole there to gain superuser, or is that hole plugged? Running 4.4.2
Hope to hear from someone who has information, not guys posting that they want the same thing, or that they are watching. Please keep it business here. Thanks. :good:
